Linda3 (PS1) Will Make You Question Everything

Linda3 (リンダキューブ) is a classic Japan-only JRPG for the PS1. Infamously referred to as the 'weirdest' RPG ever made, Linda3 tells a bizarre story about Ken and Linda, who must catch all of Neo-Kenya's wild animals and pilot them into space aboard the Astro-Ark before the collision of an enormous meteoroid. Linda3 is both cartoonish and disturbing, which makes for an unsettling mix. Shoji Masuda, ...
Mega Man Legends Was Creepy

Mega Man Legends, or Mega Man 64 for the N64, was a classic PS1 RPG from Capcom, and it was a scary game for me as a kid. Capcom developed some of the best PS1 survival horror games, like Resident Evil and Dino Crisis, so Mega Man Legends was possibly influenced by their game design. Today, MML and MML2 are two of the favorite games of many RPG lovers, including myself despite giving me nightma...

FF9 may have the hardest side quest of the Final Fantasy series. Steiner's ultimate weapon, Excalibur 2, is incredibly difficult to obtain without a guide, and maybe impossible. Whoever makes a video about legend of legaia always talks about how the combat and story is so great. But since you are talking about the combat how come nobody ever mentions the summon system? It's one of the best ever out there till this day. You can literally capture all the monsters and summon them for a single badass attack, each monster has their own well crafted attack animation and elements. It puzzles me why nobody talks about it ever.

I did Zodiac Spear. It was pretty hard as it makes you run trough high level zone where anything can kill you with single hit and you need lots of luck to zigzag trough. If memory serves me, it works only in original release, it was changed in Zodiac Age so it no longer works.

This was my favorite game as a young teenager, probably played it from start to finish at least 10 times. The Zell crush was new to me! I never caught that one. Shadow creature, I don't have a specific memory of but I think I may recall that one because I remember doing at least 1 side quest at Obel Lake, so that was probably it.

That stupid cactus is actually hard to get if you haven't been over-leveling. Bind magic to your attacks, blind, slow or stop, silence. Then they can't even touch you, works on most enemies, even a lot of bosses.

I will never get that sword without a gameshark-style cheat. Even if I've played through a game a dozen times before, I will still read/listen to all the dialogue, watch all the cutscenes, and scour every area looking for items as if it were my first time playing. I would never be able to bring myself to rush through a run to get the weapon.

This video wins queen of cards is trash. That single mini game makes me want to mod FF8 to make it where if you talk to her you get into a fight with that character just so you can use your best attack to whoop her ass in an actual fight. They were smoking all the crack when they made that side quest. I would rather go and play 13 and try to obtain the growth egg without death. And yes you can beat neochu without death. It stops spawning minions after 45 minutes

I managed to get Excalibur 2 on my second attempt way back in the early 2000s on my PSX. Most of the challenge for me came from bad RNG on getting key Steals from early bosses, because the equipment they give you plays a major role in rushing the game (first for the stat boosts and skills from the items themselves; and later, from synthesis). Beyond that though, FF9 is brilliantly designed and there are a few routes that don't require doing anything patently insane to beat it, unlike most low-level speedruns of classic JRPGs...and it was made that way INTENTIONALLY. There are a few weapons I would say are much, much worse to legitimately acquire in later FF games. (excluding spinoffs and the MMOs) But I will say that the Excalibur 2 is uniquely deranged in how it forces the player to learn how to speedrun the game to get it.

Zidane is pronounced "zee-dahn" (ziˈdɑːn) not "zee-dayne" (ziˈdeɪn). It's a real-life European name (variant of an Arabic "Zeydan" name to be precise), so it's not like the Tidus situation, where it's not obvious how to pronounce it. There was a that French football/soccer player called Zinedine Zidane (infamous for his memed to hell headbutt attack during on of his matches) - you can always check how his name is pronounced if needed ;p

Honestly your take on FF7 makes me realize like Gundum and star trek the lessions are the bits that should matter not the fantastical anti realinms details tghe often have do to funny design choices or just bad writers who did their best unfortaunatly... Like in the opening monets the layer is forced to commit eco terrorism a major domasic terror theat in the '80s and ''90s as much as the internal terro theat and ruthless dictators that kinda peaked during that time globally in all of hyukan history... Which if the FF7 turtail happened in the US today and it was a a major nuke powerplant that powered a massive region of the US... 100% the game would just be the party getting spawm camped by the FBI as soon as they left their planning room... Like the FBI right now as I type this ois single handly stoping Iran from "invcading" the contantal US by activing their sleeper cells one at a time... As the FBI is jsut using them as an EXP...It;s really sad to be honest to go from no being able to invade the US to this in WW3 after Iran even decared war on to finally offcical bring un into WW3 like the nazis did in WW2 to the US... So yeah FF,Gundam and star trek do get things exactly right a scary amount abvout future society... But it's thabkfully their lessions that are shaping out reality not the stae of theirs...

these games gave me RPG PTSD, causing me to scour every map and mash my head(and buttons) into every nook and cranny, exploring and searching for possible secrets and hidden items. star ocean: second story is another one, entire party members and weapons could be missed with 0 indicators that they are there. and even if you do their side quest, if you did it wrong they don't join you. or they could leave you if you do something later wrong. really made the game worlds feel alive and real. my disappoint is immeasurable when finding out that a decent 70-80% of modern RPGs have abandoned this practice of super obscure, hidden secrets because they arent casual player friendly.

that sword is insane. you don't even get any clule, in game, that it may exist or how to get it. and, evidently, nobody would try to beat the game so fast unless he/she had a solid reason. I, sometimes, wonder who leaked that the sword existed and how to get it.
