I've been thinking about this one for a long time and just purchased it on Amazon minutes ago. You guys who already have them and made these comments awhile back, are you still loving the blade?
Owning a functional Katana, even if it's a machete, is fulfilling a dream! This Katana is way better than all the cheap 200 $ katana fakes over there and it's way more resilient and durable. I put it through hell and it held it's own pretty good. Thank you guys for making this!

For good value work machete item this gets the job done Its a really good bush whacker for rain forest trail clearing.. I personally bought many Cold Steel items are are very happy with them .... They are great tools at a great price !
I really want to thank you Lynn and Cold Steel for the amazing products you all have produced. Owning many of your blades like the 4MAX and Spartan, the three items that hold dear to me are the Cold Steel Tactical Katana Machete, Cold Steel Wakizashi Machete, and the Cold Steel Recon 1 Tanto (S35VN), because these three makes me feel like a modern day tactical samurai. Arigatōgozaimashita!
I am from the Grand Rapids, Mi area. I purchased one of these (and several other Cold Steel "toys") as additional items to add to my home protection arsenal. As I was very pleased with the "out of the box" edge on the blade, I opted to have this Tactical Katana (along with 2 other Cold Steel Machetes) sharpened professionally by an individual who sharpens the knives for the local Chinese/Japanese eateries. When he asked me how I "wanted them sharpened?" I replied, "Razor Sharpe. These aren't for clearing brush!" He agreed to sharpen them 1 time for me. LOL. Seriously, these will most definitely lop off the limb of any house mouse. No noise (swoosh); No muzzle flash; No ballistics; No worries.

1) I have one of these. 2) I have also lived in Japan, and had the privilege of being allowed to handle actual samurai swords that were hundreds of years old. Actually experiencing it, made me think, "Damn, I actually am glad I live in an age where I don't need one of these. I would have sucked at it." d) Actual katanas are very delicate. If you actually ever did bang it into anything, it would chip or break. Actual samurai would try not to go edge to edge in combat (instead, trying to deflect the opponent's blow with the broad part of the blade), because that's the quick way to ruin your sword. c) Actual katanas require polishing (even if they just sit there), powdering, etc. If you decided to own one, you're signing up for a lot of commitment. I'm a practical guy, so the machete is the clear winner, for backyard hooliganism. Haha. 99.9% of people who aren't actual samurai, would end up ruining a real katana, if they ever got to own one.

Not bad, however this Tactical Katana Machete could be improved with a slightly longer blade more like, a real Katana leangth like 27-28 inches in leangth. As well as an improved handle with does not have the plastic mock threading which seems to " Bite The Users Hand" with also a nasty shock effect as well. I would like to see come into existence and test a Tactical O- Katana Machete with a blade at least 27-28 inches long and an improved anti shock handle. Please make such a Reality Cold Steel!
Kaido Ojamaa To be honest, this is the size of a large Wakizashi, or Ko Katana with a very large handle. It’s very thin for a sword. I don’t treat it as a “true” machete since it does not feel, handle, or function like one. It handles like a sword and slices like one. Chopping? Not so much. That’s just the nature of the design. This is a budget sword that you can use a tool to learn with.

I have seen people get three swords for the price of this one with the stand to display them, the big deference is they don't cut and this one does ,,I want what will cut and the Cold Steel Tactical Katana Machete is a cutting monster for the price.
I bought this and the previous Katana Machete. I used both to kill a copperhead that struck my wife's dog 3 times. My Katana Machete is for my brush and tree cutting. My Tactical Katana Machete is for practice cutting and home defense. I also own a Tanto Machete and I am thinking of buying a Tactical Wakizashi Machete. We will see.
I like that machete I'm like you can't afford $6,000 for Katana but I did buy one for 200 now I think I made a mistake that's the way it goes like your post thinking
Not bad, however this Tactical Katana Machete could be improved with a slightly longer blade more like, a real Katana leangth like 27-28 inches in leangth.
As well as an improved handle with does not have the plastic mock threading which seems to
" Bite The Users Hand" with also a nasty shock effect as well.
Noticed its not great for the thrust attacks
Mine sure did not come out of the box sharp more like a saw was very disappointed
John Deere cold steel ships all machete and swords with a dulled edge for safety. The knive come extremely sharp though
John Deere sorry to hear that, mine was sharp when it arrived.
I bought one recently and it is completely useless. They may have made sharp ones in the old days, but nowadays they're just unsharpened crap. The blade is chipped in 8-10 inches sections, and the whole blade is covered in black paint, like a magnum kukri machete, meaning it's useless and needs sharpening.
The Katana machete is heavy to swing omg
