Warning: Some models have a double sided adhesive strip down each side holding the display in. If you pry on the sides without removing this you risk cracking the display. Don't ask me how I know. There are white tabs on the top ends of these adhesive strips. I think if you unclip the top and top corners of the display you can see in and pull on these tabs with narrow nose pliers to remove the adhesive strip. After that you can unclip the sides. I found this tape on an x360 Envy15-ee00002na
Yep, mine had the strips but I couldn't get to the tabs. I used a hair dryer to soften the glue strips and was able to get the screen to separate. PITA.
Wish you all the best man. You just saved me money and time. Found that shit glue stripe on the top , pulled it and screen opened easily. Before your comment i was wondering what the hell is going on with those sides
Great thanks, have the screen out no issue.. My problem is actually not the screen but the hinge has snapped off the left casing, the rivets have all snapped off from over use.. Do you know where I can find a replacement screen cover?
Hi! At 1:50, you are removing the digitizer ribbon cable. After removing the clear piece of tape, was there any kind of locking mechanism you had to unlock before separating the cable? Thank you for this video!
Yes, there is a certain space where the cable is connected to the computer, you would just have to move it a little and it should come off pretty easy! After replacement the touch screen does not work. which connection is at fault? I have a small connection on the top and a larger one on the bottom of my screen.
Why would you use a metal pry tool to remove the screen? I personally wouldn't take the risk when you can use a plastic one. I hate tiny broken glass fragments getting everywhere, especially in my skin. Also, I think it leads to bad habits. When you remove a screen that isn't broken, you may grab that metal pry tool out of habit if you do this for a living.
pretty wild but apparently nothing happened to it, I guess in these newer models it seems it doesn't have the same capacitor that trips if you disconnect the screen with the battery still connected that would ruin the backlight chip... but it seems like very risky move lol
Very clever way, huh. Don't teach others replacing any parts under the voltage! You did the whole job without turning the laptop off, when you should even begin with removing the battery connector. One little bad move aside and you can easy damage the CPU.
haha, our apologies we will try to incorporate a little music onto our videos so that it is not plain and empty :), we will do our best in future projects.
Because there are plenty of other electronics that are harder to fix and in my experience, a single slip-up can cost an extra $150+ in replacement parts. Screens, especially those annoying ones that are affixed with some kind of adhesive, tend to be extremely difficult to replace without accidentally cracking the display.
I am so sorry for the trouble you have been having, below are some links to purchase the screen and if you would like for us to repair it we can but the price would be different as we would be doing work on the laptop, the price would go down if you have a screen with you but we would not charge you $700 to fix this issue. ebay.us/PUDnCk amzn.to/2Rkps87 If you are interested in sending us your device you can do it by using the link: www.ezfix.repair If you would also like to learn about how we fix devices, consider joining our classes: www.ezfixphonerepair.com/university48099477
Nonsense! For $700 you can purchase two new laptops with better capabilities. The screen can be replaced for less than $50 if you are willing to do the work yourself.
