    Thanks for the video Andy! You make this look extremely easy, up to the soldering part anyway. Would you recommend a novice to perform this task? I have some channels and gain volume controls acting up with my DJM800. I will try the spray to clean first. What do you estimate this job would cost if I had to outsource for repairs? Would you suggest general electrician, someone specializing with repairing mixers, or pioneer directly? Cheers!

    Hey! Very nice and clear video. I could use some help because I seem to have an impossible problem with my DJM-800. Had it in for repair, but in 6 month they couldn't fix it or even give me an estimate of repair cost, so I got it back. Meanwhile I bought another used one and the question is: Repair or use it for spare parts. It is in very good condition apart from the fact that the, hrrrm, problem, makes it unusable.
    It happened just before a gig. Music was going and suddenly there was a sound like a current spike and the music went silent. When I got to the mixer all the LED's was on, on the whole mixer. All the channels and the master LED's. Turned it off, checked all the other equipment, and realized that it was only the mixer that was broken. Disconnected everything but power, and turned it on again and the problem returns, immediately or after a while. When the service shop looked at it, first they couldn't find any wrong with it, they said. It was the second time they lay hands on it, that it shut down after an hour or so.
    After a lot of time spent looking for help, I found an article that pointed out that this could be a problem with the power unit. told this to the guy in the service shop, but they couldn't confirm this. ...and yes this is an authorized Pioneer Service shop. The price on this power unit is very high, too expensive to buy for a repair in my opinion. If it's not repairable, I 'll just keep it for spares to my other unit. Any hints or ideas are welcome. There's a video on my profile that shows the problem. I am grasping for straws here... I had it for two years before this happened and it worked just perfekt the whole time. No hints of any problem what so ever, and I'm very careful with all my gear for things like this not to happen. Thank you for any leads you might have.

    I need to repair mine. It shorts on channel 1 and headphone pot as well. I think channel 4 shorts also (volume goes down a lot unless I touch the faders). Mine is also missing a lot of pots lol. It’s really old and I got it used. I live in LA though. Any pointers would be truly appreciated. Thank you.

    Works on djm 600, on 2 channel, only the left channel works, soldered rca plug but still the same, only operate when both switch to mono, I tried to bridge but it did not work, the signal from both channels comes to the tape which plugs into the board with potentiometers and goes to the next disc on which motherboard to look for a problem?

    So I do have a question. I have a DJM 900 SRT. I noticed that on channel 2 sometimes after it’s been used for a bit, there is some distortion on the digital line. Don’t think I have that issue with RCA though. Also I have a color FX on channel one that sends signal even when the knob is set to 12 o’clock. Could it be the pot itself?

    Hi Andy, this is a long shot but i’ll give it a try... I have a djm800, the mixer works great... it only has 1 problem. The meters, next to the channels and master only light up half way. It goes to -1/0, but not further. All channels and master have this problem, it is an ecstatic one, but maby there is an easy fix. Any idea’s? :)

    Hi I have a Pioneer DJM 800 mixer works OK but it has a problem that is like this: You can hear sound through the headphones even when the headphone volume pot is turned all the way down to off or 0. Now this happens when you have the XLR speakers connected and in any of the 4 channels when the up fader is from the middle position and up sending sound to the master output. Also it happens only when you have the channel/cross fader selector either to the B side or THROUGH, it doesn't happen when you have it on A. When it's on A the sound is complete muted through when the headphone volume pot is turned completely off or 0. Also in any position A, THROUGH, B, when any of the up fader's is off (lowest position) it is also muted through the headphones. What's the problem here any suggestions? The 6.3mm jack port is new and the HPAMP board is new both have been replaced so what is the problem here?

    How difficult is it to replace/repair a djm-900 headphone jack? I can't find anything on it online and I'd like to take a peek before actually cracking open the unit, as It's not mine.
    Your video on fixing the cue/play buttons on a cdj were extremely helpful.

      Usually the problem is that the solder joints have cracked so that's easy to fix. If you have to replace the jack itself then it's a bit harder (you have to remove the faceplate which unfortunately means removing all the knobs) but it's still not that hard just time-consuming.

I have an old DJM 500, is in immaculate condition and the only problem is the rotary effect channel selector switch where it jumps around the channels on its own, so do you think I’d be able to use a cleaning solution (if so what would you recommend?) or does the component require replacement? Any ideas what could cause a a bad connection on master out at the back of DJM 800? I'm struggling to find any answers online (can't think of the right way to phrase the problem, I suppose). Basically, the sound quality from master out is poor, as if I'm missing the fullness of the sound. While I'm playing (and recording) the sound will get duller. There's no problem with the recording (rec out) when this happens, but the only way to solve it is by fiddling about with the rca connection (white rca cable) by pushing it into the connector at the back of the mixer. The LED lights on the mixer do not change and sound is coming from both channels, but it just lacks some high end. I'm not sure whether the issue is the cables I've been using or the socket (female rca) at back of the mixer, but it doesn't appear to be a standard problem where I lose the left or right channel (in those cases the LED of failing channel would not light up).
    At a loss to find any solution or even what the exact problem is, so I hope you can help me out here!

    Hi there!! I recently bought a DJM 750 from second hand and I realise that it gets really really hot when I play just a normal amount of time, like 1 hour or so. I elevate the mixer a little bit over the table to make the heat go under the mixer and let it breath a little and it helped to get the upper part (where the knobs and faders are) in a warm state but the bottom of the mixer it gets really fuck*ng hot to the point that I can barely stay touching that part of the mixer case. Is this normal in this pioneer mixers?? I had a DJM 250, one of the first versions, and it didnt even get warm (fair to say it is a really simple mixer). I don't know, I think I got scammed but I need a formal opinion from you guys. Thanks in advance!!!

      Hi there . Do you think will be an expensive repair? Are you base in UK ?

    • @TheRasteri
      @TheRasteri  6 років тому +1

      If it's the ribbon cable then no it won't be expensive, even if you have to get the cable from pioneer (who typically charge more than £20 when they're worth pennies).
      I'm based in the UK yes but I only do repairs through my employers. I suggest finding a local repair shop, or you can speak to my employers at facebook.com/AtmosphereLightingAndSound/ and see if they would be willing to accept a non-local repair job.

    • @TheRasteri
      @TheRasteri  6 років тому +1

      If you go to another repair shop tell them to check the 25-pin ribbon cable coming out of CN1703 on the PANEL1 assembly (DWX2552). The same multiplex channel carries the Cue 3/Fader Start 3/Crush switches so it's almost certain to be that - i.imgur.com/F6KeTSW.png .
      Hell, if you opened it yourself, pulled out the ribbon cable and gave it and the connectors a good clean you might get it working yourself.
