    In this video I take a look at a Pioneer DJM 850-k with distorted inputs on ch1 and ch2. I test Line, Phono and CD inputs and they all have problems, but setting up a laptop and using the USB source it's good so this pointed to the pre amps on the Input board. Most DJM work in this way, but the model of the op amp is not always the same.
    The part I replaced is a NJM212M and they are end of life, but Mouser had stock and was very quick to arrive in the UK.
    Music used in this video is by LAKEY INSPIRED and is called Days Like These

    "A farty kind of noise". This is the kind of thing I really appreciate because technical terms can be hard to find out. But seriously, nice video. Versatile, too, as it applies to nearly any mixer of this complexity.

      I think this chip is on the later models with digital line select and not the older type that passed audio through the actual switch. The other chip that goes is the balanced XLR output.

    Thank you for the video. Exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately just to realize that it may not be possible to swap the 'phono/Sub Mic input' for a 'Line/CD input' on my DJM 500. It seems that I would need a new input board. I was looking to turn my DJM 500 into a 4 Line in Channels...

    Hi Great Vid, I have two old mixers, on both mixers one of the input channels only play on the right side, but if I crank the gain up the whole way you can hear left side slightly but distorted, would this be the same problem the preamps are f****d, I have checked with a multimeter, the RCA connectors and soldering joints seems ok

    Hi DJ Legion, what a sensational video, first, thank you for sharing. Second, I would appreciate some help with A&H Xone 23C mixer.
    Bought it new, and opened to connect jumper cables, to reconfigure the soundcard for using DVS option (it changes the digital audio signal route).
    The mixer has 2 line input and 2 phono input, so 4 RCA's (1 pair of each for every side).
    I started calibriting DVS (in the software) and from one second to the next, the phono input stoped working, the mixer seemed to reset (as lights switched on and off).
    Since then I haven't been able to use the phono input for channel 3.
    Thank in advance for any help

    Great video, permanent subscriber here! I find myself with an issue on the DJM-900 nxs where one channel sounds “thinner” than the rest. To compensate, the Trim knob and Bass Eq knob need to be cranked up. Can this also be an issue the the amp chips as seen in this video?

      HI, It's a Titanium bone anchor for a hearing aid called a Baha. I am almost deaf in one ear and this device vibrates the skull and allows me to hear sound on my deaf side inside my head. I tried normal hearing aids, but I am too deaf for them to pass any good sound so this was an alternative solution and it works really well.

    Hi, Awesome video - very informative. Subscribed. I have an very similar issue with my DJM450 Mk2 mixer I bought used recently. Whilst the phono inputs work fine for my 1210s and the USB sound in is also fine the right side of channel 1 line-in is really distorted. Do you know if it's likely to be a similar chip failure? Many thanks, Tom

    Hmm, curious about this! My DJM800 channel 4 outputs both LEFT and RIGHT when the mono selector switch is turned on. But when it goes to Stereo, only left channel is outputted via the master. Do you think it would be the RCA/Phono jack that needs replacing? line and phono both work as well.

    • @DJlegionuk

      swap the fader with one of the others first, that is easy. look at the solder of the RCA if the fader is ok.

      @@DJlegionuk thank you! I'll give that a go. so far the RCA solder looks good, bought a set of new faders so I'll just replace them all together.

      @@DJlegionuk update. swapped the line fader, channel 4 CD/LINE works both mono and stereo with no issues. Phono only outputs to the left channel via stereo switch and of course mono hits both left and right. I can hear a very faint amount of audible input from the right channel via phono, it has to be a dodgy RCA/Phono jack yeah?

    • @DJlegionuk

      @@BryantFC if it's missing when using phono only it could be the RCA socket or the op amp for the Phono.

    hi legion, i got a similar problem with my djm 850. the sound on the ride side of channel 2 input is dead ( or very very low) when i connect a device like a cd player or a laptop via rca cable. first line channel right side dead, second cd/line channel right side dead but wenn i switch to usb both sides work. is it possible that is also this little chip you replaced in your video? i saw two chips for every channel in your video, is there one chip for left and one for the right side? and if so, is the input signal from line right and the cd/line right routed through the same chip. the other input channels are fine and like i said the usb on channel 2 works like it should too. maybe the rca connectors are damaged but both right channels on the same time!? sorry for long the text, here is a potato :)
    cheers from germany

    • @DJlegionuk
      @DJlegionuk  4 роки тому +1

      HI, in your laptop setup are you sending the audio pre fader or post fader ? I would first swap the fader with another channel to eliminate that and then I would reflow the solder on the RCA sockets. I do believe it has one chip for the left and one for the right.

      @@SounderDJ1 The fuse probably blew. I had the same issue. Look at page 48 of the schematics. (DSP ASSY, CN8-connector) You see a lot of fuses there, make sure they all have continuity. It probably is the fuse on pin 6 and maybe pin1. Model numbers of the fuses: DEK1094 (pin1) and DEK1098(pin6)

    I also have similar problems with my DJM 250-K.
    Both Aux work fine. Both CD lines work fine too.
    Phono/Line-In (switchable) are damaged on different scales.
    On channel 1 the right side is okay, left has distortion with very little signal on Line.
    Switched on Phono left side is dead and right side has distortion on the higher frequencies.
    On channel 2 both sides have distortion with little to no signal on Line-In and a much louder but similar on phono.
    Nothing on the board looks roasted but maybe my eye is not trained well enough. But could those symptoms also lead to this failure? Should be the 4580 c011f jrc chip, right?

    • @DJlegionuk
      @DJlegionuk  4 роки тому +1

      HI, looking at the service manual and it's not the same as the 850. It uses LC78213 IC6 to process the audio. CD goes into one side direct. Line2 and phono go into the other side of the electronic switch and if the line-phono real switch is set to line that then goes to the other side of the IC6. If you choose phono it goes through a phono preamp stage. then the output from one or the other goes to IC8 for AD conversion. If CD is ok on both is could be the physical switch to choose line/phono or the digital switch is bad on this side. if both line and phono are bad it would not be the phono preamps I think it is just a single chip that would need to be replaced ic6. If you can find the service manual it gives a list of faults and parts that could be at fault. I have not worked on these before so I just looked at it to fine these possible answers.Hope this is some help, but it's not even close to the 850.
