Same here. My Dad brushed me off when I would ask him to teach me fixer upper things when I was much younger. Saying I would just mess it up. Sad when I have to use UA-cam as a "Father" to teach me a great number of things.
I’ve got a dad but he calls me an idiot for not knowing how to do basic things like tying a tie and shaving my face. You’re an awesome human being for this.
That's a shame that your dad does that. My friend's little sister is dating a guy who's dad made fun of him for not knowing how to peel boiled shrimp. She showed her boyfriend how to do it and helped him in the resteraunt but she was so angry at the father.
Cherish your dad even when he says mean stuff to you and calls you all those names. My dad once said to my older brother (back when he was little) *I hate you*, yes my dad said that to my brother. My brother showed nothing but love to my dad and unfortunately my brother passed last year, My dad was recently diagnosed with clinical severe depression And I know it's all because of my brother. He regrets whatever he did/said to him back then, all because he couldn't express his feelings to his son. The day of my brothers funeral my dad wrote him a note which said "you always said please and thank you, you were so kind, and the last time I saw you, you shook my hand and said ''dad, i love you'' I said to you ''Why? I haven't done anything for you to say that'' and you just said ''it doesn't matter, I love you."... I think my dad replays those words over and over again. Just show your dad and tell him you love him, he probably needs to hear it. Some fathers never know how to love their sons because their dads never showed them love. ❤
Don't be mad at him, he probably lacked a father figure himself. Could he be better? Yes. He didn't have the willpower. If you do, change for your kids, break the cycle. But never blame your parents for your own failures. Good luck. We're on the same boat, by the way. I just had a hard time dealing with the blame game. It doesn't matter, results matter.
Me too ... my dad is all well,we have a good relationship and until recently I was still living with my parents ... but I can still appreciate what this guy is doing and I can imagine how helpful and reassuring it might feel for people how didn't have a father
My dad and my mom just got into this huge argument and I don't know when I'll see him again or my lil half sis or my step mom 😭 Finding this channel just made me cry
I am 7 months pregnant with my only son and I was abandoned by the father(who didn’t have good role model ) and I’m afraid I can’t teach my son manly things… I love that I found this channel!! I’m literally in tears bc I love this sooo much thank you !
From a single mom to a boy that is nearly 13 years old. You ABSOLUTELY can teach "manly" things. Manly is a society construct. Teach him to help others, to be kind and stand with those that can't stand alone. The rest falls into place. You've got this! ❤️
My dad left when found out my mom was pregnant, she had to raise me on her own. I had multiple men as father figures: my grandpa who taught me how to handle repairs and maintain household, my karate trainer who taught me discipline, respect and willpower, my russian teacher who taught me how to express myself and listen to others, but some things can only be taught by real fathers. Small, yet important in their own way. Thank you for it.
@Alvaro R. Forget about him. There are or will be way better people in your life, focus on them instead of some coward. It helped me get over the matter. A person running from his basic responsibility is not worth neither your time nor your anger.
Es emotivo esto, sinceramente pienso que esto no debería pasar, después de todo todos tenemos emociones, y siempre se sufre cuando pasa esto Más los hijos de una familia disfuncional
I know this isn’t necessarily intended for me, but my boyfriend grew up without a dad and so he never learnt how to do a tie, and so we’re practicing with this video before his job interview next week... thank you💛
May I add something? The tip of the tie should touch the middle of the belt buckle. It shouldn't be much shorter and not longer. Neither the "Oliver Hardy style" nor the "arrow pointing at the genitals" looks good. 😉
My father died during the Afghanistan war when I was 2 . For the past 16 years, I never knew how to tie a tie, but now you're teaching me how to thank dad❤️
Thank you! I'm a single mom and my almost 11 year old really wants to wear a "real tie" to church tomorrow for Easter Sunday. He's so excited but I've gone through COUNTLESS videos tonight trying to learn! Think I've got it now - thank you!

I’m 49, and my Dad died at 73 from lung cancer in 2013. I often think about all the things I forgot to ask him. This channel is a big help in case my 23 year old misses anything before I go. Thank you.
I'm crying, at a "how to" video of tying a tie. This is so precious. I found you from a Facebook post. This is beautiful, and such a loving act. Blessings on blessings to you. You have become a Father to thousands. Here is an early: Happy Father's Day to an awesome internet Dad. ❤
This is so heart-warming! I saw the reason you're making this on FB. I've been fortunate enough to have an amazing Dad. I'm so happy you're doing this so people can learn and see things that amazing dads do! Thank you!!! Things I've asked my dad: How do I do my taxes? - college How do I fill my car tires with air? - high school How do I fix/cover a whole in the wall? - middle school
My dad has alzheimer disease, and he can't really hold a conversation without fumbling his words. So I really appreciate these videos that you make, I was able to tie my tie for prom and graduation thanks to you. Keep at this, its much more appreciated than you think.
My parents divorced when I was 15. I had to figure out how to tie my own tie and my mom taught me how to shave. Yes, I’m crying watching this. Thank you for being dad to so many kids. I’m 53 today, and I just wanted to say Thank You! And God bless you!!
Hey, can I ask... I have a 14 yr old brother. Our dad passed when he was 9 i was 13. Since he's around the time to learn to shave, do you think he would rather watch this video and figure it out himself or me teach him like your mom did you? I've been torn about this for a while so if you have any input I would really appreciate it.
My grandfather was murdered in a robbery in the 1930s leaving 2 infant sons. My father talked over and over how hard it was to "not know how to be a man." He was afraid to have children because of this. It took a kind stranger to take him under his wing to help him learn. I am forever grateful to that stranger.
My mom cried when she saw this she wishes someone did something like this when I was a a little boy and she was a single mom it would have been so helpful, what a wonderful thing your doing.
My old man walked out when I was 3. Lucky for me, when I was 5 my mom met a man that decided my sister and I were his kids from there on out. Even after they got divorced (when I was around 15) he remained our dad, until the day he died. Cheers to all the real men that stick around and those who take care of children that aren’t theirs.
I had to teach myself how to tie a tie. I went to the public library and got a book on etiquettes & manners. I was 12, about to be sent away to boarding school. This made me emotional.
I saw this posted on Facebook, but I'll say what I commented there once more... I lost my dad who I was extremely close to 10 years ago, and this is just super wholesome. I subscribed, and I can't wait to see more wholesome content 😭
Hi, I'm from Brazil, sorry if I write something weird, I'm not so good with English. My father abandoned me and my mom in my first anniversary, so I never had the chance to learn this kind of stuff, but now that I'm almost 23, I learned it, because of you and your video. Thank you for being an excellent person and an awesome father.
This make me cry. My father died when I was 4 years old ... The first day in high school, I needed to wear a tie, but I didn't know how to do it, and then the father of one of my classmates showed me how to do it. Actually I still have contact with him, and I work for him every holidays...
My dad never showed me how to do this. My dad hasn’t shown me anything a dad would. Sad to say my dad lives a very reckless and criminal life. I’m not like that at all. I’m 24, and I’m becoming my own man and I would love more videos ‘cause I want to be able to be a good father that knows how to do things around my house when I have kids.
a few months after my mum died in an accident my father caused when I was 16 and my brother was 14 he stopped caring for us to be with his new girlfriend....we suddenly basically lived without parents, my father came home very late at night and left very early in the morning and always complained about how the house looked and about our behaviour...we were just kids with high academic goals in an emotionally stressed environment and didn't really care if the dishes stood for 2-3 days before we cleaned them and we were def. not able to keep the entire house cleaned and our shirts ironed...We have not had a relationship with our father in a time in which we should have learned about cars and shaving and tying ties and we learned everything we know from the internet. So this right here is so important and it not only helps with learning the tasks we can't do but it also helps to not see the evil guy in every male/ father and see how lovingly someone can care for a community that he doesn't even know...This is gold. This is what the world needs.
@@Fgrels this sadly is very real and there is so much more that would fit in a wattpad story f.e. the accident happened after a year long stay abroad on the way home from the airport just after I saw my family again...I feel like I just live in a life of "ARE YOU KIDDING ME"s

So many expiriences i never had. Now, when the time comes, I hope to be a good father, and help my kids with anything they need.
It sounds like you already have a good attitude toward being a good dad. keep that in mind when you do become a father and you will be a good day. No one is perfect and we learn as we go along. It took me a long time to become a good dad and I am still working on it everyday with my kids. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.
I'm not even a boy or a man, but I'm just here to say that you're an amazing person! I'm 19 and my dad died when I was seven months old. It's really comfortable watching your videos, for some moments I know how having a dad feels like. May God bless you. A huge hug from Brazil.

dad died when i was 13, never learned how to tie a tie or do alot on ur channel. ive had a good job for a few months now, wore the tie u taught me how to tie to the interview. thank you
I’ve come here from Instagram. My real dad isn’t in my life, and my stepdad is always gone from home working. I’ve spent my entire life without a father figure in my home raising me, many things I learned to do on my own. And always fucked them up trying to figure out. I fill in my dads shoes while he’s away for my mom. But I wished many times I had someone to tell me how to do certain things right, thank you for this. Lots of kids and even older teens and adults could use these.
I'm a girl, I never needed this particular skill, however, I trained myself how to tie a tie last year because I wanted to know for future reference. I also have a younger cousin who's dad hasn't taken the initiative to tech him stuff like this, so I taught my younger cousin (not yet a teen) how to tie a tie. I'm so pleased to have just discovered this channel! This guy rocks! I grew up in a single parent family, without my dad in my life. Thank you SO MUCH for creating this channel. :D
Man, this is what I wish I had. Everything I learned on my own, but not being able to think back to my father teaching me anything hurts. God bless you for this channel. Thank you!

I never had a father in my life and I got my first suit tonight and you taught me how to tie my very first tie. Thank you for being the father I never had.
My father passed away when I was about 7, and literally never got to teach me any of this. Funny to say that after all theses years, but anyway I busted wanted to give you a BIG THANKS for making videos like this for people like me.
I love this. My children's father died when they were teenagers. Many dads said they would be around to help them but that never happened, they had kids of their own. Thank you for doing this for all the kids who have lost their father...either through death, divorce, or never there for them.
My parents were druggies and we're never there for me and about 4years ago I found your channel and learned things I never could an I just wanted to thank you for all of the dad knowledge you've shared with me.
My little brother is going to homecoming today. He asked me to help him with his tie, I’ve been watching videos and this one is the only that made sense. Thank you for helping me achieve a proud big sister moment 🫶🏼
You know what... Thank you so so so much. My dad was out of my life till I was 14. Never knew he was my real father. About a week after he first contacted me he crashed his motorcycle and passed away. I never had a father figure in my life to show me stuff like this. I’m tearing up while writing this... thank you...
I'm an "older" Mom of two small boys. I had the boys on my own, so there is no Dad in the picture. I've oftentimes wondered how I'm going to teach them certain things I have little or no direct knowledge or frame of reference to, when the time comes. Now I know exactly where we'll go for guidance and a calm, nurturing tutorial. What a gift you are to so many, from so many backgrounds! I'm incredibly grateful you will be there to help me guide my boys.

I nearly cried when I understood it. It almost feels like I really DO have a father figure. Thank you very, very much. I never learned such things and was embarrassed in front of others when I didn't know how to tie one. Always never wore one because I was too embarrassed to ask. Thank you so, so much

I once taught by my dad and my uncle how to tie... But because my work being flexible and no formal clothing needed... I forgot how to do it... This video is a blessing to re-learn the thing... Thank you, Internet Dad...
My dad died last year from brain cancer. I’m only 15 and discovering this guy is one of the best things to happen to me as i don’t have a father figure to teach me this stuff. This guy is a saint and I hope he continues these legendary videos 💙
I am 17, I am trans and while I have both of my parents they don't really support. Your videos are amazing and helpful, finally being are to tie a tie after years of asking my own family to teach me, made me so happy I'm almost in tears. You deserve the world. ❤
Stumbled across this due to another UA-cam video. Lost my dad 2 years ago due to MS (I'm 55 yesterday). Last week as I was tying my tie, I thought back to when I tried over and over to learn to tie my tie, and my dad would stand behind me, and patiently teach me to tie my tie. Now its old hat, but every day I tie my tie, I feel my dad's hands guiding me. Working on the car, building the shed, painting, electrical, plumbing, even how to mow, (or even in washing the car and he'd say "son, don't look a the whole car, wash the fender, rinse, wash the door, rinse, wash the hood, rinse, and before you know it, the whole car will be done). Everything I do today, I feel my dad's presence in his teaching and example. I had to fight to hold back the emotions as I watched your videos. My dad fought for more than 10 years, having to be in a wheelchair, then bed. I miss him terribly and even though I'm grateful for all he taught me in work, I'd give anything to have him back and be able to work together again.
So I saw someone post this on Twitter and honestly it makes me happy. This is probably too much information to put on a UA-cam comment section but as a kid I never had a close relationship with my father. He would come home from work, eat dinner, and go to his room. The only time he was involved was when I did something bad and he would hit me with a belt. Almost 2 years ago on Christmas day my mom and dad said they were getting a divorce. After that happened, I found out my dad was never the best. He cheated on my mom multiple times, he hadn't told her he loved her in a long time either. When she asked he just laughed if I remember what she told me correctly. For a while I blamed my mom and saw my dad as the good guy because there was another man from her past she was talking to and at least my dad was trying to get her back but a while after I understood and realized my mom was just trying to be loved and get by raising 3 kids on her own. From what my grandpa told me, my dad threatened to stop paying for my brothers and I's needs if my mother didn't sign the divorce papers. And around the end of last year and up until March, he had been ignoring my mom, uncle, and his other family who lives in another country. Even now, I call him nasty things like "scum bag" and "sorry excuse for a father/man" and talk about throwing him in a home for the elderly when he's old. I've also found out he's engaged. Saving for a wedding and I feel bad for whoever it is he's with. I just turned 16 a couple days ago.. no text. No call. Nothing. I miss my dad but at the same time I hate him so much. Up until Christmas 2018 I never understood a kid with divorced parents and how it was so.. heartbreaking until I became a kid with divorced parents. After it started, they fought a lot. Sometimes in front of us. And I always thought they both became immature. Even less mature than me. Although most people have it so much worse than this, I find comfort in knowing the purpose of this since my dad was never really around much and didn't take the time to be with my brothers and I. I'm not blaming him for this, I think it's more of me just being me so I'll just say this is a confession. But since I got into my teenage years I've always for some reason always tried to get the approval and acceptance of boys. I've done some bad stuff just for it. And looking back on my life it's just.. not a past I'm proud of. But recently things have been looking up. My mom just got a house and she's been such a great mother. And my dad visits, rarely but he still visits. But when he does, I refuse to go home and see him. I'm just glad my brothers get to. It makes them happy to see him. Before anyone says so, I'm not looking for attention or sympathy. I'm simply just venting a bit and sharing parts of my life I'm just..not comfortable telling family or friends.. I don't know why complete strangers is any better. But it is. Maybe because I'm hidden behind a screen..I don't know. But if anyone actually read through all this, thank you. Have a good day, or night. Or whatever time it is for you currently.

Congratulations. What’s the little man’s name?

May I add something? The tip of the tie should touch the middle of the belt buckle. It shouldn't be much shorter and not longer.

a few months after my mum died in an accident my father caused when I was 16 and my brother was 14 he stopped caring for us to be with his new girlfriend....we suddenly basically lived without parents, my father came home very late at night and left very early in the morning and always complained about how the house looked and about our behaviour...we were just kids with high academic goals in an emotionally stressed environment and didn't really care if the dishes stood for 2-3 days before we cleaned them and we were def. not able to keep the entire house cleaned and our shirts ironed...We have not had a relationship with our father in a time in which we should have learned about cars and shaving and tying ties and we learned everything we know from the internet. So this right here is so important and it not only helps with learning the tasks we can't do but it also helps to not see the evil guy in every male/ father and see how lovingly someone can care for a community that he doesn't even know...This is gold. This is what the world needs.

I’m so sorry for your loss, I wish you well on your journey.
I finally have a dad that cares for me. Thank you!!

I read your story. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. I will be praying for you and your family. God bless you all.
