    I am examining what I spend in a week. By virtue of the typical daily breakdown of things consumed throughout my day. This is of course an average cost.
    As part of my August Audit I will spend time reevaluating my life and what I spend money on. I wanted to fully outline on what, where and when I spend my money. In order to possibly budget snd save more. All the while keeping my minimalist and personal values of good nutrition for improved health. Furthermore, I will be evaluating other aspects of my daily life not just financial frugal living. Afterall, Our daily routine can impact what we actually spend money on too. So lets have a look...

    Kudos to you for drink more water, even if it's not enjoyable! 😊Have you ever tried drinking warm water after it has been boiled? A coworker spent several years working in China and brought this custom home when she returned. I gave it a try and found it is not as hard on my stomach, warming, and easier to drink, especially in the morning. I put some in a thermos and drink it throughout the morning. I don't drink it very hot as that's not good either, but just warm. I sometimes add a little lemon in it. Perhaps some of the minerals that make your water hard will boil off too.

      Thank You ☺️ 🚰 I have tried yes… the alkalinity is so bad that it doesn’t really change the taste. I may however do this in the winter when it will be even harder to down cold water 😂

    Wow thanks for the reminder that it's ok to spend what is necessary to stay healthy. I don't think I could go any lower on my food budget without sacrificing my health. This was for sure a video that I needed to see . I watch all of your videos, and your honest approach and genuine personality is refreshing 🎉

    I am currently on holiday in France for a month. I set our food budget to €30/day for the two of use- €15 each. We are averaging really close to that. It helps that we enjoy the taste of the water in France and finding potable water in France is very easy.

    I feel similarly about not cutting back too much on the food budget, if I'm buying healthy food. Our soils in general are more depleted of nutrients and our foods are more processed than previous decades, so we need to be even more mindful of the foods we consume. Unfortunately, inflation and food selections can make this more challenging for many.

      Very true. I watched a documentary a while back that suggested our 5 a day should now probably be more like 10 a day as a result. Which I know is very hard for many people to physically get in. It’s part of the reason I try to always have a green juice. 😊

    I spend 44p per day on my tea! I have 2 tea-bags of Pukka Teas Ginseng Matcha Green, which is my treat to myself, and I make a 1.2 litre teapot of it. Then I decant the tea into a flask that keeps it hot for several hours. I gave up having black tea with cows' milk in it several years ago, and I think it would taste really odd to me now! But that tea, although it's relatively expensive, is one of the things I value in my day, so I don't resent spending the money on it. I don't usually drink anything else, although a cup of hot chocolate can be lovely sometimes.
    You might enjoy Pukka Teas Blackcurrant Beauty (organic). It's really fruity and has a slight licorice aftertaste. I think it's delicious. If I make a second pot of tea (which I tend to do in winter), that's what I have, usually. Like you, I cannot stand chamomile tea. Vom!

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  26 днів тому +2

      Yes Cottage cheese 😊 ‘Longley Farm Cottage Cheese’ is my absolute favourite. Yorkshire brand and I use to live next door to the farm. Where they keep the cows and produce all the products themselves. Organic farming. No cows forced to over produce. 🐄 🐮 and even better because I rescued the cottage cheese from the reject aisle 😊 💜 💜

      It is, I value it however. And it’s my only thing I spend money on as a frugal minimalist that works from home and doesn’t drink alcohol. Therefore for many people socialising may be a pint in the pub or a glass of wine. Mine is a coffee ☕️ 🍷 🍻 😊

    I did this and learnt, as I shower every day, I go through 1/4 of shampoo and whole small bottle of shower gel and 1/2 a handwash or 1/20 of Body lotion. Deodorant lasts 4 months. Toothpaste about 3 months. Etc. It was really handy for panic buying in the pandemic.

    I dont understand (although each to their own) why so many minimalists/sustainability folks have Nessprosso machines ( or similar)and pods. I use an old fashioned 'French press' or cafetiere- no polluting pods - just boiling the amount of water needed - and several minuites of wonderful anticipation. You can use the grounds for your garden. I have been gifted an insulated one, so it is still warm for the second cup! It also enables me to support a local coffee roasting shop. I'm not being rude, I hope, I just suggest that perhaps you could try it?

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  Місяць тому +1

      I did have a French press but decided to declutter it as I share my home with my partner who found it too faffy. We both wanted something more convenient for the morning. My partner needs a quick method to be able to take it to work in a hurry. The pods are made from aluminium and recycled. There are many reasons people make certain choices.

      I just love coffee and tea & there are all kinds of benefits to it, in spite of the reflux. It’s been proven to prevent dementia, help fight against colon cancer and boost serotonin, lifting mood. So I like to just keep my intake at 1 - 2 coffees a day for those reasons. Those reasons for myself overarch any other negative reasons as I personally value these reasons more. Ironically one benefit to high alkaline water is there have been studies to suggest it actually helps acid reflux symptoms. Mine has been better since living in this building 😂 and I barely ever have to take gaviscon/ pepto bismol anymore. Thank you ☺️ ☕️

    I would question if the caffeine makes you less hungry/disguises the hunger. NOT accussing you, its just something that was happening to me and to many others who cut down/quit caffeine. As for water, try flavoured water, it still counts. My sister swears by oranges.

    I feel lucky to dislike coffee so that isn‘t in my personal budget at all - however my husband drinks a lot of coffee (the strongest Nespresso at home and double espressos out and about…) so I see how expensive that is 😳 I‘m perfectly happy with our no-name tea (.017 ct CHF per teabag) and for other kinds we grow our own peppermint, herbs or collect limeflowers etc. in season so they are basically free., or we‘re using kitchen ingredients like cinnamon, ginger or lemon The simplest herbal teas cost very little here, as they are popular and easily accessible and I like to avoid upf flavourings and additives. I do like milk in my black tea and my husband drinks his coffee black and unsweetened, so we don‘t have the cost of fancy processed milks or syrups, either.
    I also don‘t eat first thing, often my breakfast is porridge around 10-11 am, made with water, a drop of milk and a touch of honey and cinnamon and that keeps me going for a long time. I don‘t like to eat a late dinner, though, and I don‘t snack in the evening, though I do enjoy more hot drinks. To each their own!
    But it‘s easy to see how expensive a coffee and snack habit can be when you see the price of things, whether they‘re being consumed at home or out 😮

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  Місяць тому +2

      The reason I use the word ‘snack’ is that to many people they are small meals. I don’t actually mean snack type food. I simply can’t eat a lot in one go. So my small meals AKA snacks, are spread out throughout the day, so I can physically consume enough to thrive. They are always ‘real’ fresh & nutritional foods. When I eat brunch it is often between 12 & 2pm. 2nd small meal or fruit 4.30pm, actual main meal 7.30 to 8pm. Supper 9.30pm. Because I don’t go to bed until late. 9.30pm is not late to eat something to me. I have nearly 4 hours to digest my food. From 9.30/10pm on an evening I then have nearly 16 hours until I eat again the following day. This is not an intentional ‘intermittent fasting’ as some people call it. It’s just the rhythm of what works best for my body and gives me the most energy. It has always kept me fit and healthy. If I didn’t have supper at 9.30pm…This period with no food would be 18 hours. Which I think is way too long. Then because I can’t physically eat much in one sitting, I would struggle to physically eat a sustainable amount that day. As I cannot eat breakfast. Last thing on my mind when I first wake up 😂 exactly, to each their own. As we all have different lifestyle, health concerns, body types, appetites and dispositions.

    I was making my own mac n cheese while watching this. (I don't make the actual noodles tho) I love the Tea Pigs brand peppermint licorice flavor. It's the best tea I've ever had. I don't even know how to explain the natural sweetness. 🤌🏽🤌🏽 It's great hot or cold. And it's on Amazon.
