I understand buying one because reusable metal water bottles are useful. The collecting multiple colors (more than one and a spare) I don’t understand.
Thank you for saying it out loud, Nick! Stanley cups are awful! I'm a teacher, and if I had $1 for every time one of those behemoths clanged to the floor and spilled everywhere, I would ha e retired last Christmas.
The biggest thing about the Frame TVs is that they aren't shiny. That matte finish both helps prevent glare on the picture and also makes it look like an actual picture.

10:56 - the whole point of those reusable water bottles was to eliminate unnecessary waste. So rock on, Swell circa 2017! Replacing them every year with the "it" reusable bottle is terrible for the planet.
Yup! I had a waterbotte I lost in the 2010s. Was so sad about that! Only reason I bought a watrrbottle was cause I saw one I liked (not a Stanley lol). And if I can help it, I'm not buying a new one
Here! Here! My waterbottle got stolen at school 😢 so I bought 2 custom coloured ones with my name engraved so no one else would bother. Hopefully will have these the rest of my life! I just don't understand why people felt like they or their kids needed so many??
Not to mention, buying one in every shade defeats the purpose of their alleged sustainability, and the aftermarket accessories are so tween-girl. I'm still using a metal bottle that I've had for at least 10 years.
As a certified wine-drinking french girlie I find the wine display stupid because that's not an optimal method of wine conservation. Ideally a cave is the better choice but storing them in a cabinet is perfectly fine too 🙄

I'm totally with you on rejecting the vulgar display of wealth of wine stations (and wine snobbery in general). As an Italian, I think it's pathetic that wine, and any knowledge of it, has become a status symbol. And that's especially the case here in north America, let's face it. In my grandparents days, even the poorest people drank wine, most of those who had a patch of land made their own, and no one felt the need to have expensive wine in their cupboard to show off their wealth and social status. It needs to stop.
AFFILIATE LINKS: I appreciate that you haven’t morphed into the modern day QVC disguised as a ‘design channel’ like so many others-who btw think they’re being sneaky by affiliate linking EVERY LAST ITEM they mention. Tacky. You put passionate critique/suggestions above affiliate links. Refreshing. Everyone loves money, but there’s a classy/transparent way to do it and I believe you walk that line superbly. Ps… the beard stays!
“Then we can’t be friends”. Love this episode. Because I’m older and live in a regular neighborhood, I can’t imagine people having or wanting to have that much wine. Or having food footstools. Or the bar carts in their house (we quit drinking when we children). Yes, I have my quirks like yard art, but it’s behind a fence. I think the media is responsible for most of those items. I remember certain items back over the years that were aimed at certain age groups. The expensive stereo systems that took up entire walls. I’m never impressed with what others have. I just don’t want my space to look like everyone else’s.
My Samsung frame is 5 years old, so not the newest tech, but every tradesperson that comes into my home doesn’t realize it’s a TV. And it makes me smile every time.
My mom regrets not paying the few hundred euros extra now. She really wanted one and on the day their tv broke I went to the store with my dad. A Samsung with similar specs was cheaper so I called her & she went for the cheaper one. And in this family we don’t replace items until they’re broken beyond repair.
To get a good wine temperature when entertaining I follow the 30 minute rule taught to me by a sommelier: Store white wine in the fridge and take it out 30 mins before serving. Store red wine in a cupboard and put in the fridge 30 min before serving. You're welcome!
In places with warm weather, 30 minutes is more than enough to make your white whine tastes like hot soup and you'll need a wine cooler to avoid that or to keep your wine in the frigde if you don't have one.
Comedy and interior design in one! You have the best channel ever, I never miss a video, and "Apple Store of wine" is hysterical. As for the beard - as you always say, "you do you." If it's scratchy and itchy, get rid of it. If not, you can definitely rock it. Thank you for making me laugh today. 😂
Thanks for speaking truth. We seriously don't need ever trendy thing out there. What happened to having your own personal taste instead of copy and pasting what's popular
I don’t have a Stanley Cup nor have I tried one either. I actually have an older Camelback that I use: However, I think Stanley Cup users should be encouraged to use their Stanley Cups forever. That way they won’t end up in a landfill and get replaced by the newest best thing.
I don't have a Stanley cup, we do have the original old school Stanley thurms and it's fantastic, it's definitely well over a decade old and we plan on keeping it forever, it has a lifetime guarantee so it really is meant to last forever 😊
Not really a beard person but yours looks great. I love that you remind people that just because some influencer has something doesn't mean you need it. Also, most of fun of having these items doesn't last very long and will, likely, end up in a thrift shop or landfill.
“I’m in my boxed wine era” is just the best attitude! I trained my palate to appreciate Aldi’s cheapest red. Worked well for me. A little too well maybe 😂. Now I’ve trained it to prefer water ❤
I stopped buying from Amazon about two years ago and relearned that I could actually get everything I need locally and it doesn't make my life worse. I'm glad Nick spent some time chatting about how big of a grip Amazon has on our society, I think we need to be aware of our consumption and how much we are influenced to buy.
I feel like Nick got stressed by the move and being around all-white walls for a prolonged period of time. So now his assessments of these stupid trends are extra venemous. Love it 😆
THANK YOU for calling out the stanley cups...they are so ridiculous! the little charms and straw stoppers and oh my goodness I don't understand the craze. Honorable mention to the cob side table...I don't even need to say anything about it you covered it all and it pretty much speaks for itself. love your videos and the beard is 🔥!
Amazon is kind of the modern day Christmas catalogue. As soon as it came in you started looking through it to see a bunch of ridiculous things you didn't need but would help create the wish list so your parents could figure out your gifts. Then as you grew up it sent you down the rabbit hole of things like those lights so you could find something for the person that had you stumped. Now it's 24/7 and all year long which takes the fun out of it. I miss the catalogues.
I enjoy your advice on practicality and being sensible and not following the trend. That’s what I come here for! There are just few who are realistic in their approach and you are one of them on UA-cam who is not afraid to speak your mind ❤
Oh those Stanley cups… my 11 yr old granddaughter has 3 in all different colors, at $40 each. Thank you social media for allowing her to think she needs one, let alone 3. And this Mimi is happy to say she didn’t buy them.
The voice of experience says when she is 62 and looking forward to working for 5 more years until she can afford to retire, she’ll reflect back on the 100’s of dollars she spent for years on goo gas and things now gone that could’ve been saved to buy something that she really wants or needs, like a nice place to live, or a wonderful trip, or a flight to visit her mimi. Or starting a business . . . But maybe she’ll become independently wealthy somehow, or marry well, and finances won’t be a concern for her in the future.
I'm a college prof and my department has quite the collection of Stanley cups that students have forgotten to take with them after class or lab. So many that we may auction them off as a fundraiser. They are heavy and awkward. Give me my old school travel mugs any day.
The light bulb is so cool ! I didn't know such things existed ! If it's not expensive, when I have a son, I am definitely going to gift him one for his 7th or 8th birthday.
I love your videos so much. They never get old. You crack me up because you just say all the quiet parts out loud and somehow you have read my mind!!!!
I've been watching your channel and couldn't decide how I felt about you. Many designers tend to come across as elitist and phony. They may care about their craft but at the end of the day it's about image. Your honesty today about the Stanley Cup won me over. Now I know you're the real deal! Rock on!
Congratulations Nick on your new home!!! I absolutely love your videos. Your humor and bluntness are the best😁. They are definitely inspiring me. I was wondering if you could do a video about updating an older home. Mine was build in 1973 and has wood paneling. They are not dark thank goodness but I want to paint them a much lighter color to help my home feel bigger. It’s 1,266 sq feet.
Fresh change, fresh face, new adventures!....I think it's awesome!....Is it odd that the first thing I noticed, " where's the clock?".... but, then you said you moved... Congratulations!!...Look forward to all your new videos!
You really rock the beard! My family are just getting through our daughter being diagnosed with autism (and then me, and my husband was already presumed...) and just had the light bulb go on that if we are not normal people, why do we automatically do all the normal people stuff with our house, and why don't we just figure out what works for us, or doesn't, and keep/get rid of things on that basis. Life got weirder, and so much easier! Stanley cups (not that I could really afford one anyways, but whatever) were always a hard no from me, exactly because of the teeny tiny base and big wide top--I'm a klutz, water is heavy, and the laws of physics aren't optional, you know?
I love you for the inside info you provide on how Influencers make money, and for having the integrity to only promote things YOU love instead of selling your soul to Amazon. Keep it up. I look forward every one of your videos!
First of all, your personality is fire and I love your channel. My input on the beard is that maybe roughing up your hair a little might work nicely with it. It’s be fun to see. 😊
I’m not even a hockey fan, but when you said get rid of the Stanley cup I immediately thought you were talking about theme room (sport) decor. I’m obviously from Canada.
A year and a half ago my younger daughter was talking about the Stanley Cup I had in my closet that I was going to give my other daughter for Christmas. I had forgotten that I had bought this cup, and I had the most bizarre, hilarious conversation with her until I figured out she was referring to the type of cup I had bought, not a hockey trophy. Our Uber driver was laughing and trying to hide it. Apparently, he knew what a Stanley Cup was. I once got to actually see and touch the Stanley Cup so, even though I’m not a hockey fan, it holds a special place in my heart
Hello Nick! Searching for ideas to make changes in my stupid old farmhouse, I found your channel today! Not only did I learn some things that I’m really doing wrong in my house, I laughed out loud as well! I have friends that really need to rethink their choices in decor and who can definitely use some laughs, so I’ve already told them to check you out 🤭❤️. Thank you!
The only exception to the Stanley is if you happen to have the old OG Stanley your grandpa took out on the fishing boat every weekend. Then we're cool.
Your beard looks lovely. I really enjoyed your "gals in the office" analogy because I tend to do fairly extreme hair cuts (chopping feet off my hair kind of cuts). More than once coworkers have thought I was a new employee...
I think in general people have way too much stuff and they don't need most of it. It is so easy to spend your money without leaving your home. Save your money. Congrats on the new house!! 🏡
“Not willing to listen to any constructive criticism regarding my appearance…” That’s why we love you ❤ New look is a keeper (I’ll speak for the office gals) 😂
Congratulations on moving to your new space, and on your new look! The beard enhances your smile and sparkling eyes, but truly, I click on your videos for your great information and humor, not for the eye candy aspect. 👀 🍬
Okay Nick, I clicked on your channel for a little advice, and I fell in love with your Big personality and your hilarious entertaining advice. I enjoyed it so much I watched several for my Sat. evening. Thanks for being you. Have a great day!!!
Thank you Nick! You saved me from ruminating about creating a bar for the liquor I've had forever, for the company that will never drop in. Time to declutter and minimize. Keep up the great work; you look fantastic with the beard!
Keep the booze if you like it, just don't add to it and you will slowly get rid of it. We have a small cabinet with our cocktail ingredients and whisky, it's out of sight and we do make cocktails on a fairly regular basis, not a huge variety, just the more common varieties that don't require multiple ingredients to make 😊
It must feel fantastic to finally be in your home! So sincerely happy for you!!! Can't wait to see your new home completely decorated!!!! Hope youll walk us theough each step
I am a huge proponent of finding the right water bottle for you. If a stanley cup gets you to drink more water, fantastic! If it's a yeti, perfect. If it's a sports bottle from Walmart, great! Mine personally is essentially a 2l sippy cup with a frozen stick in the middle. Nobody needs to follow water trends, they just need the thing that makes them drink the damn water.
My beard and I would like to thank all of my new channel members that just joined!!
I love the beard!!! And you crack me up!!

Sorry, don't like the beard. The gray at the temples looks much more distinguished without the beard.
You've added texture to you face, which always makes a space more interesting and cozy. This is simply doing as you say.
And cohesive. Always repeat a colour and play with contrasts. But the rug should be half way under the chair, now it is too small.

The first thing I thought when the Stanley cups took off was how thankful I am I'm not teaching anymore.
They're leaky trash. The Simple Modern cups are better and come in 24oz, which seems much more appropriate for a child.
We need that clock behind you otherwise this video is pointless 😅
Yeah how can you make a video when it’s not 12:20pm

And I don't know what time it is...
The biggest thing about the Frame TVs is that they aren't shiny. That matte finish both helps prevent glare on the picture and also makes it look like an actual picture.
Exactly!
Exactly what I was thinking.
It also has a lower refresh rate that helps with power consumption and lifespan.
Also, the Frame TV is really thin. By adding a DIY frame around a regular TV, you're just adding more bulk to it.
And when they're in "art mode", they're very dimly lit, kind of like a kindle. They're not a bright ass TV with a screen saver.
the spectrum of "deinfluencing" from "a regular tv literally can't work as a frame tv" to "i just think corncob tables are stupid" was certainly a journey lmao
Pro tip--- Store your wine in a cool, dark place. The show-piece wine storage under lights says, "I have WAY more money than sense."
True. Logically one would think less sense = less money. But life is strange.
UV light can actually cause a reaction in the wine that changes the taste of it. Which is one reason why people who handle wine professionally keep it in the dark whenever possible. I always cringe when I see one of these silly displays.
Yes, those displays show how ignorant they are about how to properly store wine.
It really is just for show 😂😂😂😂

@@evelien135Few hundred EXTRA?! Some of us don't have money to burn, mate.
To get a good wine temperature when entertaining I follow the 30 minute rule taught to me by a sommelier: Store white wine in the fridge and take it out 30 mins before serving. Store red wine in a cupboard and put in the fridge 30 min before serving. You're welcome!
In places with warm weather, 30 minutes is more than enough to make your white whine tastes like hot soup and you'll need a wine cooler to avoid that or to keep your wine in the frigde if you don't have one.
lol. great tip
@@beautifulrose8619It really isn't, except perhaps for that particular restaurant. Ambient temperature makes all the difference.
"Should I stay in my lane? No, because I don't want to". I love it 🤣
I must quote on a tshirt. Love it!!!
I don’t have a Stanley Cup nor have I tried one either. I actually have an older Camelback that I use:
However, I think Stanley Cup users should be encouraged to use their Stanley Cups forever. That way they won’t end up in a landfill and get replaced by the newest best thing.
Lol the phase has low-key already passed, a lot of them sold their cups or threw them out
Good luck with that wish.
I don't have a Stanley cup, we do have the original old school Stanley thurms and it's fantastic, it's definitely well over a decade old and we plan on keeping it forever, it has a lifetime guarantee so it really is meant to last forever 😊
The beard works.
I love the line "the problem is it's stupid" 😊
Not really a beard person but yours looks great. I love that you remind people that just because some influencer has something doesn't mean you need it. Also, most of fun of having these items doesn't last very long and will, likely, end up in a thrift shop or landfill.
“I’m in my boxed wine era” is just the best attitude! I trained my palate to appreciate Aldi’s cheapest red. Worked well for me. A little too well maybe 😂. Now I’ve trained it to prefer water ❤
Boxed wine era. 🤣🤣🤣 This is why I come back to you over and over. You make this boring treadmill so much more enjoyable.
Love it 😆
“I’m in my boxed wine era” - I love this for you!
”Is it home decor?
No.
Should I stay in my lane?
No.
Bc I don't want to.”
🤣🤣🤣 You bring me so much joy Nick!!
Yaaass to the beard ! Also, not having the clock is weirding me out way more than I thought... 🤣
Agreed 👍 we want the (anchor) clock. My eyes keep going to its "spot" looking for it! ❤❤😢
The Christmas Wish Book! Loved that! Miss all the catalogues too. Especially the IKEA one.
Exactly 💯 right 👍
Miss those catalogues
Keep the beard- but you look good without as well. Always fun to make a change!
Your new beard helps you look super sophisticated and adds $$$$ to your decor advice.
I enjoy your advice on practicality and being sensible and not following the trend. That’s what I come here for! There are just few who are realistic in their approach and you are one of them on UA-cam who is not afraid to speak your mind ❤
I'll say this again, I thought l came for the design advice. Nick's dry humor wins EVERY TIME!! The beard wins as well!❤
Oh those Stanley cups… my 11 yr old granddaughter has 3 in all different colors, at $40 each.
@@terriellis3697auction them and give the money to a good cause. And who forgets a $40 cup behind?????
The light bulb is so cool ! I didn't know such things existed !
If it's not expensive, when I have a son, I am definitely going to gift him one for his 7th or 8th birthday.
I love your videos so much. They never get old. You crack me up because you just say all the quiet parts out loud and somehow you have read my mind!!!!
When you said Stanley Cup, I gasped in horror. For this Canadian there is only one STANLEY CUP and it is sacred!
Yeah. How dare they?
I've been watching your channel and couldn't decide how I felt about you. Many designers tend to come across as elitist and phony. They may care about their craft but at the end of the day it's about image. Your honesty today about the Stanley Cup won me over. Now I know you're the real deal! Rock on!
PS: You look great with or without a beard.
Your bar cart imitation “ ricki ricki ricki “ cracks me up EVERY time ! You are so cleaver.
Your videos bring me so much joy and are also helpful and appreciated. I also support the facial hair!
Fresh change, fresh face, new adventures!....I think it's awesome!....Is it odd that the first thing I noticed, " where's the clock?".... but, then you said you moved...
Congratulations!!...Look forward to all your new videos!
Just found your channel yesterday. I LOVE how honest and down to earth you are. And yes, the beard works for you. Very nice!
Plus the Stanley cups are ugly. 😂
I love you for the inside info you provide on how Influencers make money, and for having the integrity to only promote things YOU love instead of selling your soul to Amazon. Keep it up. I look forward every one of your videos!
Nick - Your new look IS WORKING FOR YOU!! Love your videos and design advice.
Hahaha me too!!
Me, three!! 😂
(But, I do like hockey...)
Me 4 😂
A year and a half ago my younger daughter was talking about the Stanley Cup I had in my closet that I was going to give my other daughter for Christmas.
Ok, I'm so not alone here!
Hello Nick! Searching for ideas to make changes in my stupid old farmhouse, I found your channel today! Not only did I learn some things that I’m really doing wrong in my house, I laughed out
loud as well! I have friends that really need to rethink their choices in decor and who can definitely use some laughs, so I’ve already told them to check you out 🤭❤️. Thank you!
“I’m stuck in 2017 like a good Millenial”. 😂😂😂
Same, Nick. Same.
I am so not into the Stanley brand cup thing that I immediately thought that Nick was attacking the NHL's Stanley Cup hockey trophy.
me too 😂
Same!
Me too!!
😂
I know about the Stanley brand, but still thought about hockey things first 😂
This video is why I stay subscribed and watching. They’re just good. Just a good quality video with clear effort. Thank you!
The only exception to the Stanley is if you happen to have the old OG Stanley your grandpa took out on the fishing boat every weekend. Then we're cool.
We have that thermos! It has to have a couple of dents from rolling out of the truck, though😂
We have one as well, it's fantastic. We are planning on keeping it forever ☺️😊😊
NICK I LOVE YOU FOR THE STANLEY CUP COMMENTARY
Your beard looks lovely. I really enjoyed your "gals in the office" analogy because I tend to do fairly extreme hair cuts (chopping feet off my hair kind of cuts). More than once coworkers have thought I was a new employee...
Love it !!!
I agree with the ridiculous indulgence that people feel the need to share. I don't care what you have or don't have
The corncob table makes me want to floss.
😂😂😂😂😂 me too 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't like the unsettling bite taken out of it
Why am I only finding your channel now and why aren’t we best friends? This deinfluencing series is quite the vibe and it needs to be shared.
I think in general people have way too much stuff and they don't need most of it. It is so easy to spend your money without leaving your home. Save your money.
Congrats on the new house!! 🏡
"fine, then, we can't be friends" L O L the bar cart wheels sound at the end had me laughing pretty hard.
There is no way someone will hate Nick😅He always make my day😅
“Not willing to listen to any constructive criticism regarding my appearance…”
That’s why we love you ❤
New look is a keeper (I’ll speak for the office gals) 😂
Nick, your beard is absolutely fabulous! You're glowing today, and I just love your attitude. Keep shining!
Love how you don’t filter! Makes you real and relatable!
Okay, Nick, you’ve done it. The wine “area” thing tipped it….this is now the best video you’ve ever done. Bravo!
Gotta admit that I really dig that butter table at 9:44. Would not put one in my house, but I appreciate the novelty.
We have a small cabinet with our cocktail ingredients and whisky, it's out of sight and we do make cocktails on a fairly regular basis, not a huge variety, just the more common varieties that don't require multiple ingredients to make 😊
@@anaalves3658 That's great advice, thank you!
Beard looks awesome! Gals is still something I say! Love your humor! Thank you! 🦄
It must feel fantastic to finally be in your home! So sincerely happy for you!!! Can't wait to see your new home completely decorated!!!! Hope youll walk us theough each step
Yes!!!! Please, this!
Nick in his beard era 😎 I'm here for it!
I LOVE my frame tv. Everyone thinks it’s art and thinks it’s so cool. I love being able to change and enjoy the art seasonally.
Nobody needs to follow water trends, they just need the thing that makes them drink the damn water.
totally agree - for me it has been my Blender Bottle.
Saturdays are always a hoot. Your take on decorating is so enjoyable and always make me laugh. Keep the beard and let's have a house tour.
