You can boil rice cakes separately in water, remove it, than put it on a plate and squirt the sauce on top of it, and eat it like this. It will not turn out like the stew, you will have to eat it like a snack, like fries and ketchup haha! ~
Croatian caption was submitted by my viewer Martina Nedic (UA-cam channel)! Thank you very much!

I made this my for my friends that came over and they loved it! I am pretty proud of my self because this is my first time making this,Thank you so much 😊
Awesome!
I love that she always tries to include alternatives for her vegetarian audiences! She said for this recipe we can use vegetable broth instead of anchovies, but I hope I am not being too adventurous if I try dried shiitake mushroom. I will have to update!
How'd it go?

Maangchi
Thank you for this recipe Maangchi!💕 I'm saving some for dinner. It's sad my husband can't eat it with me coz he can't handle spicy food, but your measurement is just the right spicyness for me! I added ramyeon noodles and lobster balls, I was in heaven while eating!🤤 This is exactly the taste I crave for when I see actors in kdrama eating teokbokki!💕 Now, i need a sweet dessert! 🤤
Adding ramyeon noodles sounds great. There is another version non-spicy tteokbokki. Your husband may be interested in it. ua-cam.com/video/w_GBd5YJtFU/v-deo.html
@@MaangchiOh thank you!!! Yes, this is it for my "king" 😆 I'll definitely make this royal version for him!
we finally made this today after years of watching maangchi's recipe of tteokbokki but we didn't have kelp and anchovy so we used dried shiitake mushrooms and vegetable scraps and it tasted delicious. Thank you for inspiring me maangchi ❤️

Hello Maangchi imonim! I just finished eating the 떡볶이 with my family that I made using your 떡 recipe ❤️. It turned out sooo good and my mom, who doesn't even like eating anything that I like, ate quite a lot and asked for more. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with the whole world and upgrading my skills in the kitchen ❤️. Stay safe ❤️.
tteokbokki are kind of like little magic flutes
When I first got interested in cooking Korean, there was nothing available for an American - no cookbooks in English, nothing. But now thanks to the internet and people like you, I cook wonderful Korean food which doesn't completely suck. You are a treasure, please don't ever stop. Maangchi for President!
I am from an Arab country, specifically Yemen, and I am fond of Korean food, so I am grateful that I found your channel. You explain everything simply. You are really a creative chef. I opened a project to cook Korean food thanks to your recipes. Thank you very much and I love you💜
Just made this recipe tonight and it’s amazing! Thank you for sharing with us!
👏
Thank you for sharing this recepi! My husband (Korean) really loves this dish, but I always failed while trying to make it. I will try again following your recepi :)
Update: He loved it!
I love the fact she’s still reacting to these videos! And the part with the fish where she said ‘be brave’ was so wholesome! I’m definitely gonna eat this today, thank you!
My husband lived in Korea for a few years when he was a teenager. Tteokbokki was his favorite dish while there. I followed your instructions exactly, including the fish cake and egg. He was a very happy man! Thank you so much.
I made Tteokbokki today following your recipe and it tasted awesome. I added some cheese as garnish and sesame seeds as garnish for instagram photos and they were great. Thank you so much Maangchi. Now I can serve awesome Korean food to my family.

Made it today and it turned out so good! My Ukrainian family can’t tolerate spices so I need to reduce the amount of pepper flakes next time.
🙂🙂
My first time to try this recipe. My gosh didn’t expect to be this good and spicy.Thank you so much Maamgchi for sharing your recipe. ❤️
Congratulations!
I just made this and it turned out really well! Super easy too! I have a low tolerance for spice tho so it definitely packed a punch! Then again, I also used crushed red pepper because I didn’t have hot pepper flakes 🥵🥵

Oooh, me too! I thought it would be really spicy, but it was well balanced and so yummy! Thank you! 💜
Best recipe out there! I made it without the anchovies or fish cakes, to make it vegetarian. Used bean curd instead of fish cakes. Delicious. Thanks Maangchi!

Thank you Maangchi-sshi. Love your videos so much because you explain the details behind every steps. And you are so sweet also😊❤ hope you're in good health during this quarantine period.
Thank you so much! 😷
@@Maangchi 😊😍❤ most welcome
I have always wondered how to use dried anchovies, when I saw them in Asian markets. I tried your stock making method and loved it! (P.S. I like it better than Japanese fashion of making stock.)
Thank you for your wonderful show. I have seen many episodes and have been inspired. Thanks again, from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Maangchi your recipes will be the best and you are very gentle while teaching
Had this at the restaurant the other day. Ran home to find it and your recipe is spot on! Thanks for sharing.
It sounds like you are so passionate about delicious food! Good luck!
Why does korean food always look so delicious??!!
Because it is delicious 😉
@@JetPak808 I want to eat korean food too!! ㅠ-ㅠ
I just made this recipe for dinner. It was amazing! Simple to follow and even easier to eat.
Thanks for the video ❤❤❤
👏
Ddeokbokki is a street food where you can just buy some for like dollar or two. It's more of "Snack" for young generation... But damn it's so good. Probably one of my favorite Korean food.
What does it taste like??
" you can eat the anchovies and kelp " how? just chew and swallow
that ot me laughing so hard!
Lol!
ikr! 🤣
French caption is up now thanks to a volunteer captioner!
Thank you volunteer-nim !
Just made this, it was so good!! My pepper flakes were very spicy though, even though I used less than a tablespoon it was still really spicy, so add to your taste :) I also used instant dashi powder to make the dashi stock because I couldn’t get the anchovies and kelp. Thank you for the recipe!!
It sounds great!
I always wait for my mom to cook this for me but now I can cook it myself
Oh sameeee, btw Im an Army too!
I made this 5 years ago following your recipe on your website for my mom. She was amazed that I was able to make it better than the restaurants. Will always be my favorite recipe to make. I'd never thanked you, but better late than never right? :) Thank you Maanghi!!
Of course! : )
@@Maangchi omg I just remembered the first time I made this I followed a recipe to make homemade rice flour. I thought it was a recipe on your page but I can't find it. That process only took about a day and a half to make :P Just that first one though. Every time after I used packaged dumplings or purchased the rice flour. Thank you again!
What brand of hot pepper flakes are you using?
Leeen Tamala I use taekyung red pepper powder
