One mistake from eBay that I recall was when I sold a bicycle for a friend of mine. It was a custom bike and he spent a fortune on it and we listed it for a fortune. Finally after going back and forth with this buyer, we came to a deal and he bought it and make the paypal payment. I go to tell my friend that we sold it and he told me that the bike was recently stolen and he didn't have it. So I had to tell this to the buyer who left me NEG feedback and said that I was trying to rip him off. Lesson learned - ONLY SELL WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR HANDS. DON'T DO CONSIGNMENT UNLESS IT'S IN YOUR HANDS
I know your pain Mike.. It happens if you have a bike on Craigslist and Ebay at the same time, the moment the guy from Craigslist paid me. I get a buy now before I could end auction. Needless to say I only got neutral FB.. Craigslist is a great place to sell bikes.
Mike Dancy hi mike years ago I sold an item but I couldn't find it..so I called my girlfriend's brother who lived in far away state and he is been doing ebay since the beginning so I knew he was good enough to get me out of it..I don't know how he did it but all I remember was ..he bought the item..completed the transaction using other form of payment than paypal for the item..and all I did was stating that the item was already sold..so I'm not sure if the buyer was nice enough not to leave a negative feedback or was it because of what my friend did
Hello Lindey. You are a great teacher when it comes to reselling on eBay, because you don't sugar coat anything, and you don't pull punches. You are brutally honest in how you view yourself during your eBay reselling journey, and you don't promise any " open an eBay store and watch the money roll in " b.s.. You keep it real, you teach us to do our homework, do our research, and put in the time and effort to see the best results. You teach us not to give up, to not let mistakes get us down. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, then think about what you did wrong, and about what you need to do different in the future to get better at sourcing, listing, pricing, shipping, and customer service. LADY... YOU ROCK !!! All of your videos are worth the time and effort you put into making them, so please... don't stop. :) Some of us really are learning from the example you set, and not just watching because you're gorgeous. Thank You For Sharing Your Time With US Lindey. God Bless You,Your Family, And Your Business.
Thank you! I've been doing research before I actually start selling. I'm disabled and on a very small, fixed income, so can't afford too many mistakes. Appreciate the tips!
Don't give up! I'm guilty of this, I gave up around a year ago, well "put it all on pause for 3 months" is what I told myself. Decided to get back on the horse today and found your video very good to get those gears cranking again. Thanks for the time and effort you have put into sharing your experience with us.
Regarding the "Sell Similar" function, it IS a time-saver. However, some people use it on other sellers' listings, which is when you need to be VERY CAREFUL. If you "Sell Similar" another listing, you need to make absolutely sure that ALL the Item Specifics that came over from that listing apply to your item. Otherwise, you could get caught up in an "Item Not As Described" problem, right?
Love the video... You are right. researching it all before going in is key. I know a guy who was at a walmart and saw a bunch of stuff on clearance. he bought all 800 dollars worth ..only to find out it was some how in a restricted areas and he wasnt able to sell any of it.....
Thanks for the tips. The sell similar button and templates are real time savers! I'm glad you mentioned learning. Failing to do that can decimate profits.
Hey, Lindsey, just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for this fantastic video. Amazing tips!!! I have learned more with you in 20 mins than all my years of trading on EBay. You are amazing, girl. So grateful for your advice. Keep your videos coming. Thank you. Love & hugs. Oxana xxx 😊👏🏼💐
I want to thank you so much for all of your videos. I have not sold on EBay in years and have only sold my stuff on Etsy and now my own Shopify Store. After watching you for the past 2 or 3 weeks I just started listing stuff this evening on Ebay again. I only put 5 items up and about 2 hours after putting these items up I have 2 watchers already. Thank you! Thank You! Thank you!
I always keep my phone with me when I go thrifting. Do a quick look up in the store. Also if something does not sell, switch to auction and list low. Most of the time it will sell. Most of your mistakes I have made also. I guess we all do. Like you said , this is how you learn . I have been selling for years and still make mistakes.
Lindey Glenn hi Lindey i been thinking about being an reseller or an ebay seller for a while and was always on the fence about it but after watching your video really gave me more confidence to do it i feel like i can go at it with the knowledge i need to succeed thank u .
I just finished watching your video - you are extremely animated (in a good way). I learned a lot and I want to thank you for sharing your experience with all of us Lindey. I will subscribe.
I ran a computer business from my home many years ago. The tip about separating money is what I used to have a big problem with as well as letting stock set too long. It affects everything from not knowing exactly how much money is available when ordering, (and computer parts were not cheap items to buy), to even filing Income Tax and State Taxes......What a headache, as well as the rapid rate that computers were changing. What was fast last week was slow this week. You cover some very key points in this video... Good job.!!!!!!!!!!
I've made these mistakes as well. You are doing a service here that makes people not hate themselves so much. Hearing about other's foibles is a good tonic.
Dear Lindey, I recently (yesterday) found your channel and have been watching your very helpful videos! I am setting up to be an ebay book seller, and have found some REALLY good booksellers in YT who share great info, but you go into detail on the things that I still had questions on. You have helped me so much with the mysteries of shipping, flat rate vs Priority, boxes vs bags, things I never would have known. Thank you so much!
I agree with you when it comes to auctions and not liking them. The reason Buy it Now works better is because if it is a long tail sale eventually the person who wants it will show up, but there is a good chance that one person won't show up within the time of your action. As far as not charging enough. As a rule of thumb I see what the item has sold for in history and I always list the price higher than what I think it's worth or what someone will pay. I watch the "watch" counts and slowly back into lowering my price until I get the sweet spot to sell. A lot of times I get the high price I originally priced.
I literally binged over 10 of your videos back to back last night. I ended up sleeping really late. Just now when I woke up I pulled up YT and it went right back on your video. Guess I'm binging again. Lol. I love your channel and personality. You are very informative.
Just getting back into eBay, it's been years. I was just brushing up on current info regarding the selling process and I came across this video. Thanks so much for your contribution here. Very helpful and informative indeed. Probably not going to go crazy selling, but I do have a bunch of collector items I want to auction off and I believe your sharing will help me to do that quite easily now. Thank you.
first video i have watch for 30 min on youtube that was informative in the sense that speaking about your experiences is better than speaking in general and figuring out what applys for me, not boring, not a waste of time and straight to what you need to know and what to avoid. thanks
One thing I learned is that glasswares and breakable items are not sellables for me! They all went to GW today, and starting fresh tonight with stuff that will sell. Those glasswares were from fast food places. You gave good points!
Regarding your mistake about shipping, I totally agree with you. I always weigh my item & determine the packaging I'm going to use & the total weight, BEFORE I list the item. So I have NEVER been surprised by shipping costs once the item has sold.
Too funny. Right on target. I did the same thing with the priority tape. and yes, when I got there I just shipped it anyway. Was not going all the way home to re do it, just sucked it up! Lesson learned. And yes, I gave up about 8 times, too. Good stuff here. learned a lot This video is great, great, great!!! I am off to watch all your other videos! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge.
wonder if you can get a reputation as a soft touch seller ???? oh that guy gives refunds so easy ,,,just give a sob story and he sends you r money back ,,etc
So helpful. Didn't think about the sell similar button. Mistake #1 really got me also. I sold a suit and didn't anticipate the shipping being so high! Love your videos. Great personality :)
Your honesty and way of communicating your experiences made it real. I had to reflect on my own ebay experiences. Your charming personality was captivating and I had to watch the whole video. You might consider selling cosmetics and such. You got the looks to be a star if you wanted to go that way.
Lindey I cannot thank you enough for this video. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be embarking upon my reseller journey next month and your tips are crucial! Massive love from London, UK
Glad I came across your videos yesterday. I subscribed right away! When I first started selling on ebay, I sold a hat for $10 with free shipping and packaged the hat in medium size priority box and the shipping was like almost $11 I was so pissed at post office when I had to pay $11.. so you aren't the only one who was in hole those are rookie mistakes new sellers make. I think we all go through them :)
Lava rock thingy works well for pilling on sweaters, yet is still a bunch of work. Would take half an hour maybe on a sweater and it takes some skill to not knock holes in clothing.
I'm new at reselling and I've already made some of these mistakes. Glad that even a pro has made them. Lesson learned. Thanks for sharing your mistakes. I have been enjoying your videos.
You talk about separating eBay and household income. We were struggling with that ourselves. We had no idea what was really coming in and going out. Like you said, as soon as we got money it was transferred to my bank account so that we could use it. I do keep track of expenses and earnings, but it wasn't enough. About 3 weeks ago I applied for and received a PayPal debit card and it has made a HUGE difference! Not only does it help keep track of everything, but I have access to the money immediately. Thanks for the video!
You're welcome! I did the same thing. I tracked whatever I spent and whatever profits/sales I had but when it's all mixed in you are really kind of clueless - or feel that way. I know for me personally it started getting tricky because what if I bought a couple shipping supplies I forgot to note? Or a refund I forgot to write down because I did it through the app. It feels SO MUCH BETTER having a completely separate account. I can see it all there and I don't have to worry about accidentally overspending my investments.
I totally feel you! I have been selling off and on for 15 years! I just decided in the last 3 months that I am an idiot for passing up this opportunity! Taking it full time this summer! Thank you for the transparency!
Hi Lindey, thank you so much for your words of wisdom and for sharing your ebay experiences. It helps others understand the inner workings of the reselling world. Very much appreciated.
thank goodness i started with Posh mark to see how this works, this is just a little different but packing is the same. leave a note inside asking what can i help them before going to customer service.
you are adorable!! I've watched dozens (if not hundreds) of eBay-related videos lately, and I have to say that you are the most video-smooth, entertaining and straightforward yet! You inspire me... thank you, Chica!! ;)
I occationally get some ideas on how to list things and i've learned is give as much detail to the listing that you can. People will complain SO much about that. I use the advance button to help with what has been sold before.
I LOVE that you're sharing the "not my proudest moments on ebay" LOL I"ve already made quite a few mistakes but i suppose that's what mistakes are for....learning from them and getting better at it :) Learning a lot from you, thank you!
it seems to me that the biggest challenge is shipping and pricing. pricing items is something that isnt too hard for me to do research is the name of the game but shipping i really need to put my head down and learn as much as possible.
I swipe other people's listing info for everything I sell. You can make minor adjustments in seconds. Also, Buy it Now is only good if your item sells. If not you're stuck relisting I've actually had items listed for a say $20 Buy it Now that don't sell. Then I relist auction style for 99 cents. Often times they end up selling for more than my initial $20 price. I guess people enjoy fighting each other at the end.
I list items separately and the majority of the time just takes doing picture so my buyers can see what they are buying. I use my phone for picture and do the templates with my laptop/split screen on laptop.
You've slowed down your talking! Great, I'm from Memphis Tennessee and you were going to fast for me in one video. Ive been in eBay for 4 years. This segment was the most informative good sound advice in just 10 or so minutes than hours of listening to other Utubers information on the same subject matter .I wish I heard this a few years ago because these are the same mistakes I've made. Some of them still making until now, because of this video. Outstanding advice! Keep up the great work......
The don't give up thing? I so....do that. I sell a vintage trucker hat that I bought for less than an penny, for a profit of like five hundo, and I'm like "Yeah, victory dance...Whoa!!! Killed it! ...Then, I fall into the not branching out thingie, because I'm like, "Well, I don't see any more just like those in my stock", so, I chill for months, until I get back at it. I am old school ebay, when an auction meant an auction...$9.99 all day, every day, no matter if it was worth $1,000. You'd just list it, $9.99, go about your biz, and BOOM!!! Cha~ching! Today, it's different! So right. Buy it now, with best offer is best. I still dabble, testing the waters, so to speak. It's easy to let ebay slide, while trying other hot selling platforms, but I need to realize ebay needs so much more attention to get the groove again! It's a whole different ballgame. I do miss the real auction days though. Lindy, You're my new hero, girl. Thanks for the inspirational words. Keep it up!
Great Video! I just started my account yesterday and all your tips will come in very handy. Also I was trying to mail something to a friend and learned that priority mail tape lesson the hard way too, lol
Really informative stuff! I am going to get back in the Ebay game, and a friend recommended this video. That story about the Priority tape is really devastating! I guess it would have been way too time consuming to take it home and repack it. Like you said, lesson learned. What I think about is all the time you spent, just waiting in line to buy the thing on Black Friday, what a drag. Again, great information.
Been there done that. And all these reselling and drop shipping. OMG. Dude I tried drop shipping airbrush kits and camping tents and I didn't sell SQUAT. I tried selling my own homemade handcrafted products and sold NOTHING. It simply doesn't work for everyone. Tell me what I'm supposed to do?
#4 IS SO true, more times than not I will search only buy now because I don't have the time to monitor the Auction not to mention the instant gratification.
what I do is use flat rate priority boxes, and naturally only buy things that can fit in them. this means, at the most, you spend around 15$ for the biggest box.
#7 selling items not in good quality. Yes! When I'm at a rummage sale the room is so dark and I have to take the clothing to the light to see what condition it's in. I learned the hard way after buying things at rummages on impulse. Never totally inspected the clothing. Never plugged in the electronics. Make sure it works! Don't trust the rummage people, they did not test it!
Don't you think auction item usually get boosted in search result page when near ending time? from there, it can drive buyer to your store to look for more other items
Thank you for talking about the downside of selling on auctions. Thank you for enlightening us. Thank you for talking about discouragement vs not giving up. I do well selling ladies purses and shoes, and mens shirts.
Thank YOU so much for all your kind words! I'm planning an entire video on the pros and cons of Buy it Now versus Auctions... I'm very opinionated! Haha!

Soooo learned a lot for you! I'm a new reseller and this kind of videos help a lot. Thank you for taking the time to share! Subscribed and liked! Thumbs up! :)
So, if I decide to start selling bags of potato chips on eBay, and of course to save on shipping costs, would you recommend me put it in a priority mail bubble mailer?
Where I live they don't have the priority shipping tape for free anymore. I think you have to buy it online... do you still get it free or buy their tape or just buy regular clear tape at store?!
I haven't gotten that tape since my big mistake. I never wanted to see it again!! Haha! I'm not sure if you can order it through USPS anymore or not. I just buy normal packing tape on ebay :)
Am I making a mistake?? I list items for "buy it now" and "Good til canceled" Should I be relisting them regularly? (To get more traffic?) is it worth the effort? Does it make difference? Thanks!
Hi, I really appreciate your open-ness to share your experiences with ebay, & some of your products that do well. I'm currently listing, but hardly getting any sales at the moment. (I had started getting sales in the past but then ran into my ebay limit)

This video is great, great, great!!! I am off to watch all your other videos! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge.
I've made pretty good money on ebay not using auctions. You exactly right, alot of people don't want to wait around on auction outcomes.
wonder if you can get a reputation as a soft touch seller ???? oh that guy gives refunds so easy ,,,just give a sob story and he sends you r money back ,,etc
So helpful. Didn't think about the sell similar button. Mistake #1 really got me also. I sold a suit and didn't anticipate the shipping being so high! Love your videos. Great personality :)
Thank you so much for watching! :)
Your honesty and way of communicating your experiences made it real. I had to reflect on my own ebay experiences. Your charming personality was captivating and I had to watch the whole video. You might consider selling cosmetics and such. You got the looks to be a star if you wanted to go that way.
This is one of your best selling teachings, Linday. Thanks.
Thank you!
You’re awesome in being so transparent with your experiences. Truly priceless information.
Much success to you.
Thank you very much for the words of wisdom. I'm 72 and need to go back to work. I will start eBay selling from home this week.
I think we all go through them :)
zolu shka haha! glad I'm not alone! thank you so much for finding me and watching!
This has to be the best honest to heart video on helping people survive! Thank you Dear!!
I totally feel you! I have been selling off and on for 15 years! I just decided in the last 3 months that I am an idiot for passing up this opportunity! Taking it full time this summer! Thank you for the transparency!
a package that big im surprised priority mail wasnt the only option. must have been real light then
Hi Lindey, thank you so much for your words of wisdom and for sharing your ebay experiences. It helps others understand the inner workings of the reselling world. Very much appreciated.
What should you have shipped your big superman toy in that would have been much cheaper?
thank goodness i started with Posh mark to see how this works, this is just a little different but packing is the same. leave a note inside asking what can i help them before going to customer service.
Thank you for the talk about not giving up.
i have recently started. THANK you for this great info. I thought it was just me!
you are adorable!! I've watched dozens (if not hundreds) of eBay-related videos lately, and I have to say that you are the most video-smooth, entertaining and straightforward yet! You inspire me... thank you, Chica!! ;)
Thank you so much! :)
I occationally get some ideas on how to list things and i've learned is give as much detail to the listing that you can. People will complain SO much about that. I use the advance button to help with what has been sold before.
When a box is over a certain size, the USPS charges an atrocious surcharge for oversize boxes (length and girth).
I LOVE that you're sharing the "not my proudest moments on ebay" LOL I"ve already made quite a few mistakes but i suppose that's what mistakes are for....learning from them and getting better at it :) Learning a lot from you, thank you!
I love your true HONESTY. I'm new to this and your videos have helped me more than you know. Keep it up
I know that this is an older video....but good stuff, and makes sense. You've earned yourself a new subscriber.
Thank you for your stories. They help a new person apply the lesson much better.
it seems to me that the biggest challenge is shipping and pricing. pricing items is something that isnt too hard for me to do research is the name of the game but shipping i really need to put my head down and learn as much as possible.
Found you very likable as you were so honest about your mistakes
Stellar advice. I have been a seller since 2005. I have made all of those and more! Impatience almost killed me!
I swipe other people's listing info for everything I sell. You can make minor adjustments in seconds.
Also, Buy it Now is only good if your item sells. If not you're stuck relisting
I've actually had items listed for a say $20 Buy it Now that don't sell.
Excellent advice Lindy, thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing this information! I’m new and trying to learn and build my business. Great info. I love your videos!
I need to ship walking sticks 4 1/2 ' long & 4×4. What's to most economical way ?
Your videos makes tons of sense, thank you.
Thank you for watching :)
i enjoyed this video thank u
Keep it up!
Hope everyone can learn from your mistakes. You're terrific.
Really helpful advice! I'm new to eBay selling and your lessons are very useful and gives me more confidence. Thanks for posting
Thanks I've made some of the same mistakes and have learned along the way, It's because of people like you I continue to grow in my business,Thanks
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words :)
Thank you for being so honest and taking your time to help us succeed in our outnumbering business Lindey. I appreciate you so much 🌺 Tambi :)
#4 IS SO true, more times than not I will search only buy now because I don't have the time to monitor the Auction not to mention the instant gratification.
what I do is use flat rate priority boxes, and naturally only buy things that can fit in them. this means, at the most, you spend around 15$ for the biggest box.
Good advice, esp. the Auction sell. I use a mix - Auction + BIN. And I also do fixed price but I'm starting to use FP + 10 days vs. 30 days.
What not to sell? Baby food, because it expires! Watch the expir. date on baby food. And baby food is so low-priced it's not worth it.
Don't you think auction item usually get boosted in search result page when near ending time? from there, it can drive buyer to your store to look for more other items
Thank you Lindey! I buy things from ebay...just never sold anything there. Tour tips will definitely help me! Thank you so much! Dean
What is the use of having a no return policy or no refunds, if eBay demands you give a refund or allow the buyer to return it.
Good stuff. I've made all these mistakes too over the last 9 months. Super funny I can relate!
Haha!
very very and very beautiful, keep up the good work!!

On your first topic, Im in that delima now. I have alot of huge packages of adult briefs. These packages have 16 ct and the packages are huge. I have no idea how I would ship these.
Great Info. I'm embarrassed to admit I've made most of them. The money one is a GIANT one that I'm still making. I will try and figure how to fix today !
GREAT VIDEO! Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.
I know it's an old video, but extremely useful! I wanted to thank you for honesty, and wish you a luck in making big money on eBay :)
Soooo learned a lot for you! I'm a new reseller and this kind of videos help a lot. Thank you for taking the time to share! Subscribed and liked! Thumbs up! :)
So, if I decide to start selling bags of potato chips on eBay, and of course to save on shipping costs, would you recommend me put it in a priority mail bubble mailer?
thank you so much for your honesty. This was very good information.
MusicMichelle Kay thank you for watching! :)

I am doing my research because i too want to start an eBay business. Your video is SSSOOOOOO helpful and honest. THANK YOU!
Am I making a mistake?? I list items for "buy it now" and "Good til canceled" Should I be relisting them regularly? (To get more traffic?) is it worth the effort? Does it make difference? Thanks!
the retyping in things is why I am so in love with turbo lister.
I can duplicate a listing, and all my seller info, paypal, shipping is all preloaded
I'm glad I'm listening to this, because it is happening to me now, but I'm not giving up.
Thank you so much for explaining "sell similar"! I didn't know it meant exactly that :)
Hi, I really appreciate your open-ness to share your experiences with ebay, & some of your products that do well. I'm currently listing, but hardly getting any sales at the moment. (I had started getting sales in the past but then ran into my ebay limit)
I have been selling on Ebay for 16 years and I have learned some valuable tools! thank you,,, Sass
You're funny. I literally lol'd! You're stories and your struggles are sooooo relatable. Great video!
Best wishes from Ukraine. Have been watching your videos. Keep this way! Good luck!
Thank you SOOOOOO MUCH for all your tips! I’ve been selling for 17 years and HAVE become complacent...😜 Now you’ve given me hope that I can do better in the future!! 😁😁😁🤗🤗🤗❤️
