I know how much you enjoyed driving this gorgeous 56 Bel Air convertible. I love this car!
I fell in love with a 1957 wagon when I was 16.
God that's a good looking car! And in ASTONISHING condition!!
We MUST visit the ice cream parlour ! And the hot dog place , and the burger place !!
Did you see Bobbys biceps? WOW! Oh yeah Love the Car Awesome
Perfect color combo for a 56.
The Best Unbelievable unconditionally untouched 1956 Chevrolet Bel-Air Convertable Ever Seen Unknown Ever since Seen that's a Powerfully Beautifully designed and Perfect 🥰 💞 Condition for 1956 l'm from Canada 🇨🇦 and I am Seriously a Tri Five Lover
This car has such a happy smile.
That is almost too stunning to drive!!!! I loved the outfit!!!! Also now thinking about a pastrami sammich🤔....
So good!
That is the sharpest 56 Bel Air convertible I have ever seen. Great colors and the 265 is the engine that started the whole small block Chevy line of engines. Wow !
I'm deaming! Original top and great color! '56 my favorite of the Tri-5s. My first job when I was 14 years old was pumping gas in a Texaco station. We had to know where all the hidden gas caps were... and there were many hidden gas caps! Brings back such great memories. Thank you Charles thank you Bobby thank you 1956!😉
That car is mint. 50s Hollywood baby, in a baby-blue BEL-Air CONVERTABLE!!
My aunt in L.I. N.Y had a car just like this brand new except it was turquoise and white.I rode around in it 1 time when I was a little kid in the mid 60s.
Behold the Bowtie!.....Behold the bezel to access the gas cap!.............I Know!
Fab review. It's nice that this video is a bit longer and more in depth. Keep up the great work. Always entertaining
Glad you enjoyed it
@@_charlesphoenix I just bought your book Addicted to Americana on Amazon. Looking forward to reading it, especially because I’m an Aussie living in USA....I can learn a lot I’m sure from your book
"oh, I know"...........cracks me up every time!
I KNOW !!!
Stunning car, Charles. The color scheme is perfect! Thank you.
Back in the 70s my high school days , I bought me my first car it was a 56 belair I paid 500.00 dollars same color as the one on your video. The 56 was very original it had a 283 bullet proof it ran for my 3 high school years and sold it I still miss my car.
Another fine choice for Joyride. The ‘55-‘57 Bel Airs continue to hold a special part in America’s heart...I’m sure Chevy would like to figure out that formula again for today!
Well said!
My favorite of the tri-five Chevys!
"See the USA in Your Chevrolet..."
America is asking you to call
Drive your Chevrolet through the USA
America's the greatest land of all
@@Pisti846 Sing it Dina!
Charles, you really capture Americana at its best with all of these beautiful mid century classics!!! Your hat is pretty snazzy too!! 🙂
With the curl perfectly positioned in the center...👍
thank you !!!
Charles, can’t we all get in the WayBack Machine with Mr Peabody and Sherman and go back to 1956...and stay?
The 56 chevy was my favorite of the tri 5s. Chevrolet set sales records in 1956.
Sweet, India Ivory & Nassau Blue, I’d be blasting my cool 56 Rockabilly/ Rock & Roll tunes while driving that baby. How about Gene Vincent & the Blue Caps!😎🎸🎷🥁🎹
Owning a tri-5 Bel Air = instant cool.
Nice to see the ‘56 get some love for a change.
I used to own a '56 Bel Air 4 door sedan. It was black and white. Looked exactly like the one in that guys sale brochure. Loved that car! It had a 235 cubic inch 6 cylinder, but like you said, drove GREAT! Thanks for posting!
Super clean this is my favorite year tri 5 now. It was the 57. Year his is my dream car great color. Only thing it’s missing is the skirts and the continental kit.
Like watching a child at Christmas 🎄 with his new toy. When I see these beautiful American Cars you present. A pleasure to watch. 56 Bel Air Chevy. Just amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it
That's a beautiful automobile. The power steering is a lifesaver. I don't have it in my 55 convertible and it takes a little muscle to turn slow corners. I enjoy your videos so keep them coming!
Thank you for filming these cars and celebrating Amaricana. I love the 50's and early 60's even though I was born much later. Car design, was at its pinochle, people seemed friendlier and the world seemed to be at a slower pace than today.
Our pleasure!
My favorite episode.
Wonderful 56 Chevrolet. I learned to drive on a1956 Chevrolet Station wagon, tow tone cream and mint green with the black and white interior...well, we had 3 kids, a dog, and parents and would go camping in this with a full length rack on top with a canvas covering all the equipment for camping. Wonderful memories. Thanks Charles, love the convertible.
Lovely car 🚗
One of the most beautiful cars ever on Joy Ride! Yes folks, you CAN own a '55, '56 or '57 Chevy that ISN'T a dragster!!! Beautiful! Thanks Charles!
I enjoy your show! You know!
Your videos bring out the finer details of these classic automobiles. Keep up the great work!
More to come!
Wow I knowwwww an original, not chopped,or channelled or rat rod, whoppee love it.🇵🇹🇺🇸
It is beyond thrilling to see such beautifully preserved fabulous 50s automobiles such as this. And having you as our guide Charles makes it an even more fun experience to view. I look forward to Friday’s and I hope that you are always successful in discovering a new car for the Joyride!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That color blue is hypnotising
Love the neon sign too
FANTASTIC! Love it!
It's cool that he let you drive his car, unlike the owner of the orange space car.
For OUTSTANDING color coordination between a beautiful 1956 BelAir convertible and a UA-cam Joyride host ensemble....The winner is... Charles!! We know! 👑
o totally !!!
@@_charlesphoenix Thanks Charles...This is so much fun...and so needed right now. Love my Addicted to Americana book! As a mid-century masterpiece myself.😎...This is better than a tea dance cocktail...😉
You can always tell the ‘56 because has those bullet taillights ha. If an eagle and a jet had a baby??!! 🤣
I could watch these all night i mean that.
Charles, youre a dreamboat honey, the bwes knees 🐝
Listen to Aunr Barbara, she knows😉
That is one Sharp Car. I learned to drive in the one I had.
Beautiful, I love the two tone
Not only found out about the different options for '56 but where the best Pastrami sandwich in So. Co. is. What more could you ask for!
Original top! Wow! That is something!
It must have spent almost all its time in a garage if that's original.
This video is wonderful. The mini tour of the city was great. The car is amazing and your clothes were so cool. I hope your channel keeps growing!!
Thank you so much!
Always learn something from your amazing reviews, Charles.
I appreciate that!
Love his discriptives. I had a 1960 caddillac/superior funeral coach at one time, loked like you were jetting of into the afterlife.i would love to see charles do one of those!
Really stunning💙 Salivating for that pastrami sandwich
So good!
What a gorgeous vehicle, and that color... I KNOW!!!
Of the Tri-Five series, I have always preferred the 1955. To me, it represents the cleanest, most pure design. The 1956 and 57 just seem like gussied up copies in comparison. Still, they are all iconic American masterpieces.
Wow! What a beauty! Thanks for sharing Charles.
Been to The Hat in Alhambra many times. And it IS the best pastrami in the known universe.
Love your channel. Some cars I like more than others, naturally. But two cars I NEVER need to ever see again is any Camaro or Tri-Five Chevys. I would rather it be a 1956 Buick Century or Roadmaster two door hardtop with A/C.
You are the best!!!
I don't care for the 'tri fives' but the 1956 is the best looking of the bunch.
What a burble ! 😎
Danke Charles und Bobby! Dein bestes video! Grossartig!
Such a joyful joyride! Charles, it's fun to hang out with you and the amazing cars you celebrate.
Glad you enjoyed it!
another fun joyride! a car for the young at heart, sporty but practical everyday transportation or for a fun Sunday drive to a picnic. no wonder everyone smiles at these now because they were the car for the Everyman, so all can relate. Thx Charles and to the owner Bobby for sharing this great car and making everyone's weekend a little better!
Well said!
You also had me @ Pastrami + Ice Cream parlor. But two fellows cruising in blue shirts in a two TONE '56 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible is wayyy beyond cool!!! Almost "died" @ 00.36 when the top came down! And 3:34 (Why don't you drive now?)
Looks like the Chevy put the "joy" in your joyride for sure!
You got that right!
Buick introduced the 4 door hardtop in 1955. Chevrolet brought theirs out in 1956.
Thanks my friends what a beauty Doug 😎
Bobby!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for contributing to another spell-binding episode of Joy Ride. Wow, was that some '56 my brother! I do like a '57 but seen more than my share of them. My sister had a '55 Bel Air convertible in coral and charcoal grey and I've ALWAYS loved that car. The '55 and '56's are so pleasant to look at. AMAZING that that is the original top! Thanks to you too of course Charles, for without you, there would be no Joy Ride and I LIVE for every episode. Just getting it out in the open! Love ya guys!
Beautiful, another great car, another great video. Thank you Charles!!!!!
My pleasure!
I live your channel Charles!
thank you!
Such a beautiful lady, thank you 😊 Charles
You are so welcome
Nice one!
You showcased the car very well and the added sound effects were just right.
The mid 50’s Chevy’s are often criticized for lack of design flair, but Classic Americana is Classic Americana . 💁🏼♂️
Am I right?
They are BELOVED for their styling !!!
So cool to find these videos. I only found out about you from your Americana book I bought at the Huntington Library gift store.
Welcome aboard!
@@_charlesphoenix I just came across your book on Amazon on Cruising the Pomona Valley, but it was OOP. I was born and raised around the Inland Empire (Upland, Pomona, Montclair, Claremont, Cucamonga, Ontario), so when I hear you talk about your youth, I feel like I was there, though I was born in '65 so we're not quite the same age. For some reason you seem familiar, and I often wonder if I came across you way back then. In any case, let me know if your book about the Pomona Valley is available elsewhere because I miss the Americana signage I was raised around (the Thunderbird Bowling Alley sign, now gone, that cowboy sign on Mission that's still there which reminds me of the Vegas Vic sign). Your videos are a great ride down memory lane. Someday I hope to take one of your bus tours.)
You didn’t show the hubcaps with the little Chevy bow ties all around the edges!
That's a real beauty!
Charles- have you ever seen one of the Chevy El Morocco cars?
You'd FLIP... Speaking of 'baby Cadillacs'!
Have not but am DYING too ... where to find one?
Uber rare. I’ve only seen one. It was at the 57 Heaven Museum in Branson MO. Sadly closed down now.
I never saw a blue convertible top. Most of them were black or white
The electric fan on the front of the radiator is definitely not original. I'm guessing it was put on for the car being used in parades on a hot day when the engine powered fan might not keep up with the car basically idling. Cadillacs also had tricky behind the tail light gas fillers. Maybe other GM brands? Ford products often hit it behind the rear license plate.
You are correct
I KNOW.
Was this video filmed in Alhambra, CA?
I am a glowing lime green with envy, Charles! Thank you so much for your enthusiastic presentation of this magnificent car, and also for showing us those classic burger emporiums in Alhamdra. Let's face it, Art Deco and Mid-Mod are the best things that happened in the 20th Century -- I Knoooooowwwwwww. Keep the spirit alive! And props to Bobby for taking such great care of this classic machine.
Glad you enjoyed it!
And how much do we all love a color-keyed sharpened bullet-shaped chest piercing steering wheel hub? It's like it wants to come at you and take your heart away! And without a collapsible steering column, it could do it!
Ohh Charlie it's sooo enormous & big , please slow down. Take it slow Charlie, it's alot to take all at once. Easy peezy
