Charles Nomads are very special icons of the 50's. I am an old guy but when I was in high school in the 60's one of my classmates'older brothers had a 57 Nomad with a 327 under the hood. I was a teenage car guy who was vicariously able to enjoy the amazing muscle car era. I never owned one but now am the proud owner of a 2019 2lt Corvette Grand Sport. Charles keep your over the top car channel humming. I love it!
Hamilton Ventura! sweet. the perfect accessory to a '55 Nomad...what every successful mid-level businessman in 1955 should wear and drive. what a time capsule, thx Justin and Charles!
So glad you brought us a ‘55 Nomad...truly a unique mid-century Chevy whose appeal remains fresh today. Needless to say, “Joyride” has become a Friday institution! Keep up the great work, special pal! Now-where’s that ‘56 Caribbean we’ve discussed earlier? Lol! Have a great weekend.
Charles woke me up today with his excitement. So glad it's unrestored, because if the waffle pattern and rear glass need replacing , I am wondering if it can ever be replaced exactly to original specs.
Spectacular car and story. In the early 70's, my older brother joined the Nomad club and almost bought one. We went to look at it together. Jet black and big block engine $1500!!!!! He didn't buy it, for some reason. Later in life my friend's uncle bought a jet black Nomad...and guess what!!! it was the exact same car!!!
Wow, an all original Nomad! I didn't think that was possible! So beautiful, and I agree that the tri-five Nomad had the mother-of-all-B-pillars. 1955 Mopar, Ford and Studebaker B pillars can only hang their heads in shame by comparison! Great presentation, Charles! I was reminded by this video that I also have a 1955 Chevy owner's manual. My older brother gave it to me several years ago, but I'm not sure where he got it. Our family car was a 2 door '55 sedan back in the late 50's/early 60s, so that might be where it originally came from. I need to read that again!
Great great video's. I lol at your descriptions. I love when you yell out at a certain point to accentuate a certain feature. Wonderful enjoyable piece. Funny and delightful at the same time...
Oh my, Charles. You gushed more than I have seen before. Cept maybe the 1960 Fury. But that was perfect. I wouldda gushed too. 💁🏼♂️ I know... Thanks for the classic among classics, Nomad. By Chevrolet.
As a mid- century unrestored masterpiece myself (not 🤭)...I love the story behind this beautifully unrestored car! This proves....it's not the model year!...It's the mileage and maintenance! I knnnoooowwwww...Right, Charles? 😆
Sooo simple.... beautiful simple styling AND IT WORKS....... Simple chrome strip on side, BUT seven CHROME ribs on the tailgate, and then let’s go inside .... MORE chrome ribs on the hood lining, just enough to make it zing.... a MILLION bow ties on the dash and WAFFLE treatment on the two tone interior... I am LOVING it. Reminds me perhaps of another unrestored ORIGINAL two door DE SOTO (Green and white) which we are waiting PATIENTLY to see......... subtle hint hint Charles.... Great Job mate, look forward to our Saturday morning to enjoy ANOTHER Joy Ride.... well done!!
Yes! Futuristic station wagon indeed. It was even featured @ Epcot Center's World of Motion in 1982 until Test Track replaced it in the late 1990's. Pretty sure the car was "cannibalized" as Audio Animatronic family rode in the car. Still a great tribute to a great car. Thanks Charles!
The chrome going over the headlights and down the side is Nomad-only trim. Also the stainless steel along the bottom of the door interior and probably the exposed stainless steel roof bows as well. And of course the trunk ribs, and the roof and more slanted rear. It probably wasn't worth the money GM spent on it as a halo station wagon. A really serious find by the owner.
I really enjoy the backstories on these cars. What a car. What a treat. It's none of my business but I'd love to know what he paid for it. I find that these are for sale, restored and hot rod versions, for anywhere from $60k to $90k. I would have to guess that this one, in full original condition? You can't count that high.
Too bad the wife didn't demand a manual shift car on her grocery errands. A four speed -even a three speed -on the floor would have made this automobile super special.
Charles did you check out the Jack Benny program on UA-cam it is called shower Of stars it’s sponsored by Chrysler corporation the forward look you get to see some really beautiful cars
How much do we love Charles Phoenix?
thank you!
I know ! 😂

WOW.... that color, that style... and yes, it's an unrestored original!!! Just... W.O.W!
One of the all time classics!
In filming the first two years of the Perry Mason TV series, the same '55 Nomad kept popping up in scene after scene.

I knoooooooowwwwww....such a great story too. It would be sick to go to a classic car show with Charles to hear his analysis
How utterly gorgeous... Such a fabulous car to shop in
It really is!
What an icon - the Nomad is nice too!
Oh my, Charles. You gushed more than I have seen before.
Cept maybe the 1960 Fury. But that was perfect. I wouldda gushed too. 💁🏼♂️ I know...
Thanks for the classic among classics, Nomad. By Chevrolet.
1955 was the peak of the Baby Boom. A bold move by Chevrolet to introduce a 2 door station wagon!

How many years did Chevrolet use that shift lever? We had a 1960 Biscayne that used it to control the Powerglide.
Beautiful ❤️ car
Fabric is Wafflederful. XD
I'm turning inside out!
Too bad the wife didn't demand a manual shift car on her grocery errands. A four speed -even a three speed -on the floor would have made this automobile super special.
Would love to see you in a 1955 Pontiac Safari. Let’s make it happen! 😁
I haven't seen one in years ... actually I had one in the 90s briefly ...
Charles Phoenix JOYRIDE I almost bought one a few years ago in Oklahoma. It needed work, but was complete. I wish I had now. It was gorgeous.
Absolutely remarkable! And was that a Hamilton?
Yes, that is a Hamilton watch
The golden voice...I know
The world is a better place with Charles
O relógio fica na frenta da passageira para ela dizer que ao motorista que estavam atrasados.
Cool detail: Period California amateur radio license plates!
Very cool!
An honest original
You can't touch those eyebrows over the headlights for $1000 a piece if you can find them.
I like the Pontiac Safari version better.
Disappointed you never opened the hood on this 1 Charles
Fantastic! But come on, look under the hood!!! That’s especially important on an unrestored original car.
Does anyone DARE give another like to this video and ruin the "409" likes? Even thought this wasn't an option for this car.
Another "Ham" radio operator no less. You should do videos on vintage electronics. But that's a whole other obsession!
Charles did you check out the Jack Benny program on UA-cam it is called shower Of stars it’s sponsored by Chrysler corporation the forward look you get to see some really beautiful cars
I gotta check that out!
@@_charlesphoenix please you will enjoy it so much he has a robe on that says the forward look on the back and the side has big fins on it it’s 😩
Do your grocery shopping in first class.
"Nomad" is the car a psychiatrist drives if he/she has a 100% cure rate with their patients.
Hey Charles, I think you should calm down. Are you on drugs or something?
just enthusiastic : )
