    Possibly 1 of the best modern driver focussed cars , what do you think

    If you liked the A110 in Normal mode, then I am certain it would have blown your mind in Track or even Sport mode. Whenever I am on a winding road I will be in Track mode (yes even in the wet) as it massively changes throttle response, exhaust sound and becomes far more playful & interactive.

      I was given the keys for 20 minutes and having never sat in 1 before was impossible and certainly missed features 😢

      @@DamoDrives If you ever get the chance, spend a full day or two with one and go to Wales. You will quickly get the last 30% of the enjoyment the A110 provides & will learn just how forgiving and playful it really is. Just remember to put it in Track mode ;)

    How can 300bhp not 'sound impressive'!? 115bhp in a mk1 VW Golf GTI was enough to wring its neck, so I think a car at pretty much the same weight but with almost three times the power makes 300bhp way more than anyone will ever need for UK roads surely?

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  Рік тому +1

      If you look at the numbers and say 300bhp and think that’s less than a number of hot hatches but as you said when you take the weight into consideration it is a fast car and certainly when I was driving it , it feels fast.

      @@DamoDrives The point I was ultimately trying to make was to say manufacturers have been getting more & more carried away in a daft race to constantly increase BHP figures, and it takes a mature mind to step back and realise that in practice this is futile for road use and so is only useful for comedy bragging banter. If the A110 'only' had 200bhp I'd still buy it

    Nice vid. Subscribed. I’m a big fan of both the A110S and GR86. Did you have any thoughts with regards to comparisons between the two? E.g. body control, agility, steering, etc? I’ve driven a standard A110 but not had a chance to try the S or the GR86 yet.

      Thank you for subscribing. I feel the A110s was slightly more nimble which is probably down to the weight and engine position. The A110 felt slightly more special (but it’s a lot more money) but I loved the manual gearbox in the GR86 and for the brief amount of time I drove them on those roads the GR86 felt more rewarding. I need more time behind the wheel as I don’t think I was in the correct mode for auto as it was not holding gears. It would be good to drive the A110s on the public roads and see how it copes with terrible British roads. Hope that answers the question

    Ive never heard of Alpine before this. This is a car that would almost move me from a Swift Sport if it wasnt for its lack of practicalilty(that weight is amazing, thats less than a Vitara and a little more than a Swift Sport). It looks like a blast to drive. I also was curiously eyeing that big red button on the steering wheel. Is that a boost mode?

      I think F1 has really increased the brand awareness as well. Driven both and certainly the A110s from a drivers POV is significantly better but it’s a £50k car , 2 seats, twice as much power , rear wheel drive. If I had the money I would get a A110s but could not really compare the 2

      @@DamoDrives oh its that much😲. Should have figured with the amount of alcantara in that car. Tbh the first time I heard about the brand was when I was starting my search for a aftermarket headunit.

      being an S model (stiffer chassis and 300ps) and with Acantara and metallic paint this is more like £70k still a great car

    i wish it had 4 seats

    • @DamoDrives
      @DamoDrives  Рік тому +1

      It would be more like the GR86 at that point but rear seats are basically unusable. Increases the weight and changes the car. Just ask any potential customers to get an Uber 😂

      It’s really difficult when you have a car for 20 minutes but will take on board any feedback you have as I think it’s important to learn from your mistakes. Constructively which areas did I get wrong

      @@DamoDrives I think the fundamentals of NOT pressing D in an automatic car and yanking on the Shift paddle had me immediately question your credibility.

    • @DamoDrives

      @allansmillie7507 I completely understand that, the issue I had was I turned the cameras on and had no time to look around , ask questions and just see what happened. It’s not the best way of reviewing a car I appreciate that but at the moment getting access to cars is incredibly difficult. If I had the car normally I would have driven it for a few hours before turning the cameras on and then this does not happen. Sorry for not providing the best review in the world and sure there will be more detailed and accurate content out there

      @DamoDrives No need to apologise...constructive criticism...good luck on future reviews.
      PS. I've driven both the standard and S model...standard suspension is amazing and for my use...smooth as butter but capable when pace is up...and the A110 is the best car I've ever had the pleasure to drive. Negatives are the cheap plastic interior...expect better for the price asked by Alpine

      It was a really good car and being so light and well balanced was a joy to drive. Just felt for that particular but if test road a manual would have been the best option although I’m sure on the public roads it would have been epic with an auto as well
