@t c The YV were initially concerned about fuel prices, not CO2 taxes; most of them can't even afford sports cars in the first place, let alone a £50,000 one. You also have to take into account the rebate system for buying new cars in France. When you buy are new car in France, you can get a rebate of up to £2000 on eco-friendly models (hybrids, electric, etc), and a penalty for cars with high CO2 emissions. Furthermore, the CO2 tax is only for new cars and fleet vehicles. So if you were to buy second-hand (like most people), you wouldn't have to pay anything CO2 taxes for a near-new Alpine of Boxster.

Awesome video, great and genuine A110 endorsement, if only these cars were available in the US. This car would be awesome in the Cali canyons, or my local Ozark twisties. Exhausts are the mainstay of the aftermarket, that is a minor fix! Glad to see no flask of tea in this video, this car needs a driver who swigged French Roast before hitting the twisties. Was lucky enough to visit the Renault show store in Paris this year, but no time to go to the suburbs and visit an Alpine dealer, would liked to have seen an A110 in person.

especially when you’ve had to wait some time for delivery. Felt the same way
when I picked up my MINI JCW 3 door from the dealer with 5 miles on the clock (Had
to wait over 4 months because of the spec and options I selected plus a build
slot, eventually built and assembled in the Born plant in the Netherlands) I also
did a running in period (1000miles) just to make sure everything bedded in correctly
before I slowly increased the speeds.

    • @Franzino
      @Franzino 5 років тому +2

It's a matter of taste. Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren does this also...when you are used to it; it's fine 😉 This is the idea behind it; In a road car, column-mounted is better. In a race car, wheel-mounted is better. Reason being that in a race car, you pretty much never move your hands on the wheel, so the paddles are always "right there". In a road car, you need to turn the wheel a lot further, so it's best to have the paddles stationary.

I was wondering, how much is the Alpine Vs a Cayman !
I Love how Renault gave us this new Alpine, and they really put some effort to it.
Is there any other Comparison ? Any other than Cayman?
Cayman and Alpine ..Mid Engine, I know I doesn't beat a NSX...

Body control -- the description sounds a lot like someone describing an ND miata.
    Thank you for sharing!

The ND is a great car which also has a manual gearbox, NA engine, is convertible, and is about half the price. But there's a good chance this Alpine will suffer very low depreciation so it could work out surprisingly affordable.

Good video, you can always change the exhaust later. Now we need you to drive the A110S to compare it. The Autotrader video on it wasn't that good.

If only Renault had merged with FCA, might have been a glimmer of hope.

There might be a chance with Renault being part of the alliance with Nissan & Mitsubishi of course , but surely they would of re-badged Renault's as Mitsubishi's by now as they have a fantastic range of stylish cars or would Nissan lose sales as a result. Unfortunately the hand-built limited production process is likely to rule that out as they will not shift enough units to make it profitable combined with the cost of more rules & regulations to sell it in the U.S. makes it unlikely !

Aidan Wilson Agree on the costs of meeting US crash test and emissions regulations, I.e homologating (think that is the right word), for the US market. Was hoping that Nissan would sell rebadged Meganes in the US, but never happened, so like you say maybe less chance with a special car like an A110. Then again, turning on the 2020 optimism switch, what if they added the US regulation homologation to the cost of the car in the US, trained up Infiniti service centers to handle the cars, and charged considerably more for the car here in the US? It would increase volume and longevity of the model and help the currently weakened alliance. Suggest it would lure in some 718 customers and maybe cheaper than an Evora.

@@93455Driver I'm sure alliance bosses have debated many times , especially since Mitsubishi joined 3 years ago , about introducing new models to the US market but i guess the numbers didn't add up or it's not the right time , no doubt they compared the Alpine with it's closest rival , the Alfa Romeo 4C to help predict whether there is still enough demand for a small lightweight , agile , 2 seater sports car. Servicing the A110 is very specialised for instance , so training all the technicians & mechanics would not come cheap & even on such a bespoke car there must be a limit to how much they can charge without affecting the sales numbers !.

What I liked about the GT86. An 80's car with modern reliability, build quality and economy. Pity it had 80's performance too tho.
