Good job! BTW: There is no need for a plugin to center the anchor point in a line, shape, or text. Simply press CMD + OPT (CTR + ALT) and double-click the Anchor Point icon.
Caleb, this tutorial is ONLY the basic. What we were looking for is the way you make the SMOTH movements (how you tweek the easy ease speed) . Can you show this part which is more important!?
Caleb you're an inspirational for me and for many other people. Thank you so much for making these amazing tutorials and keep up the great work. Can't wait for the next one :)
I need help! Whenever I change the scale of one of my key frames it will change the scale of the other one too. Both the first and second one will be the same size not zero and 100. It's very aggravating.
Thank you so much for your tutorials! You are awesome! Your tutorials help a lot...please please don't stop making them. Purchased Motion V2 just an hour ago. Awesome tool, can't wait for V3 :) What's the best way to recommend new videos? PS: I'm very new to AE and these videos are gold.
Joe Pelar That's awesome, man! Glad these tutorials are making a difference, and that the motion tool is working good for you! As for recommending new videos, elaborate more on that question, please. What do you mean?
Whoops I got you confused with Mt. Mograph. You guys sound similar. Still love Motion V2 & and your videos! Aaaanywho. I remember in one of your videos where you said if the audience had any ideas for videos to let you know. What's the best way of summiting ideas to you? Do you have a voting page so people can vote for what they want next?
+Caleb Lancaster Your example lines (at the beginning and at the end of the video) have some sort of easing animation, the animation has a slow start, then it goes faster while the line is growing and then it becomes slow again in the end of the animation. How do you do that? Also, great videos, love your tuts!
Take a look at this part of my kinetic typography tutorial, where I talk about keyframes and easing: ua-cam.com/video/LSKOBNMjaQY/v-deo.htmlm14s You'll see me easy ease the keyframes, open the graph editor, (with the speed graph open) and pull in the right point. That made a fast to slow movement. The graph editor is a visual representation of your keyframe movement. So if you want a slow to fast, then back to slow movement, you need to make your a hill on your graph. It should look like this: prntscr.com/dim9y5
Caleb - as a teacher - if you dont tell the student a 100% of the solution - then that student only has a 99% idea of what ( you tried to ) explain to that student - instead of 221,000 hits you will have 2 MILLION hits - see the difference ?
this is the only tutorial ive found so far that's really shown what i'm looking to learn, so thank you so much!
Mac does not have HOME so for the shortcut he stated you need to click Command Option FN and Left Arrow - will center the anchor point.
Or you can simply change all your shortcuts, in Edit. ;)
Thank you, I also like the background music!!
Thank you for the CTRL+ALT+HOME shortcut. I've been having trouble with anchor points and you just solved my problem lol
Good job! BTW: There is no need for a plugin to center the anchor point in a line, shape, or text. Simply press CMD + OPT (CTR + ALT) and double-click the Anchor Point icon.
I subscribed to your channel because you show the example 1st, then start the tutorial. Thanks.
Thank you!
Simple tutorials are always useful. I am coming from Illustrator, etc. So was looking for the line tool. ;-)

Thank you! Greetings from Austin, Texas!
Good one, tho I usually use trim paths for this !
And if you just want the line to only move in one direction, move the anchor point to either the left or right side of the line
thanks bro
1:44 Oh my goodness, there was a short cut for anchor point? All that time I could have saved (command +option +home )

Thank you so much for your tutorials! You are awesome! Your tutorials help a lot...please please don't stop making them. Purchased Motion V2 just an hour ago. Awesome tool, can't wait for V3 :)

Requests over Twitter are always the first ones I see, you can tweet me over at twitter.com/lancastersedits
Caleb Lancaster Gotcha. Thanks :)
Hey, Caleb or anyone... Do you know how to make the line expand (small to large and maybe skewed?)

Thanks a lot, mate! it worked like a charm :)
Glad to hear it! You're very welcome.
How would I be able to put the anchor point in the very left so it grows just to the right.
Congrats Bro! Tks!!!
you should make tutorials on transations
I.e. transitions with those lines
How do i scale a curve line from the center?
Thx a lot for the tuts. But is it possible without Motion V2 installed?
Thank you I appreciate.
It is possible without Motion 2. Motion 2 is just a plugin to make easy-easing simpler.
Thx Sir!
download link move anchor doesn't work.
oh it does :)
thxs
:)
How to do that with trim paths? I can't animate the line starting from the center and growing to both ends
Hey bro I can I animate a straight line into a curved line (like a smile)?
hi caleb could you do a tutorial on how to have mega smooth keyframes/the keyframe graph? ty
Definitely! I've got a video coming out soon closely regarding that, but the graph editor is a good subject matter to discuss.
Is there a way you can add lets say a simple text that follows the end of the line as it grows?

anybody know why I have a thin line even though its at 19
and how to grow that line with only one side
Use 'Trim Paths'. This guy explained the worst way to do it.
how to grow line from right only?
What song do you use in this intro? Thank you!
Hey how did you make lines rotating?
Keyframe the rotation on your line to go from 0 to 90.
Does anyone know how to color the line?? Thanks in advance
Change the stroke on the top, between fill and size
MrTakoMask thanks
3:28 what’s the sound in the back? Lyrics or....
I instantly think of Stranger Things seeing these lines.
normie twice removed For sure! Stranger Things used this exact technique.
when I do this my line moves around as well please help
Did you center the anchor point? Use the shortcut ctrl+alt+home
thanks I'll try it
ctrl+alt+home shortcut not working :((((
cmd+alt + double click on pan behind tool, that makes it centered
Came here because I couldn't draw a straight line (0:50). Too much hidden stuff!!
