Thank you for this! Yours is the only video I could find that not only showed the AD routing but also how to convert the individually routed tracks into audio.
Thank you! I screwed around for more than an hour trying to figure out this by myself. I found your video and five minutes later I had it done! From here I added another track(s) and routed it like Kenny Gioia did in his ADD2 video. It “records” in midi, but the midi events are easily rendered. The real big advantage is that with the Gioia track(s) added, I can play all the cymbals and drums that are on the drum map, but not in the particular kit that is loaded in ADD2. Total flexibility!
Hey, man, just wanted to say thanks for the videos, especially this one. I intend to buy AD2 soon and this is just what I needed to know. I'm very grateful that you did these series of tutorials. Greetings from Brazil!
@iClownnn Well each program has its own way to translate the midi notes to sounds. So it is possible to pull different drum parts from different programs into Addictive Drums, But, You might need to create a custom mapping IN AD.
@bassgrooves2 Yes it would be basically the same setup Folder track -BFD Host (MIDI) -Breakout track 1 -Breakout track 2 and so on. To get this you Right click th VSTi plugin in the FX window and then select "Build multi output" or if you incert a new track AS a vsti (insert > Insert instrument) it will prompt you to see if you want to build the multi audio outputs. In BFD you will need to tell each track to send to a certain output though.
@trulynot I may have modified the track prior to deleteing it... I guess the important part is that you can delete the AD master track if you are sending each instrument out individually.
Hey excellent tutorial. it´s really helpful. i´m having some trouble though, okay so i select addictive drums as vst but when the program pops out, i get no sound from the drums when i click on them..even though the master volume is high! why cant i get any sound? what should i do? please, any help would be appreciated. cheers and thanks!
@mucknog Well this was a request form someone on the website :-) And you would do this so that you can free up some CPU power/ram/sample access time. Or maybe to edit audio instead of Midi... Options :-)
@TutorialsForReaper Thanks for your answer, and the time, making those tutorials. I still prefer editing midi instead of audio, but you gotta do what fits your work flow, I guess. :-)
Can you help me Map my AD Drums to specific keys on my Midi Keyboard? Currently I have no snare on my Keyboard. every other drum / cymbal has an assigned key. I want all of my drums on the M Audio OXY 49 keyboard and in a specific order. Thanks
@365daysgone you mean adding VSTs? lol Options > Preferences > Plugins-VST > Browse for your VST folder... usually located at C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugIns. After that Click Re-Scan... it should pop up as long as you installed it correctly with th AD installer. Hope that helps. send me a private mesage if you need more help... we can Skype or something.
Dumb question sorry but how come you got the confirmation popup when you deleted the master ADD track ? I dont get a confirmation popup when i delete tracks.
Hey Jonn, I have this AD free demo at home, I am running my drumkit DD1eDrums via midi out to my audio interface, I am able to get a get sound out of my drumkit but is very soft and quiet, also the sounds are all jumbled ex: my cymbal sounds like a snare. How can I bring up the volumes and actually arrange my pads to give the right sound. Also my drumkit has default channel 10 GM backed according to midi inplementation, does this matter when I map preset and dont find my drumkit in the list?thxs
Is it easy to import your own midi to addictive drums / reaper? ex: Export midi drums from guitar pro, and import to reaper using addictive drums sounds.. Any way you can make a tut on that or know of one? thanks
I have reaper, and the full version of AD when you say "as soon as we do this we're going to be able to hear it play" I get no audio from AD at all! Please help!
Ok, I got it install in vst of Reaper DAW, but how do I setup in Reapers preferences so that I can drag and drop Addictive drums 2 presets or my beats to Reaper I can only drag and drop 1 preset but then when I add 1 more beat or kit preset I get a message something like this: Could not create file (ADDrop.wav) Please make sure that your host is set up to make a copy of dropped rather than just referencing the dropped file. [Error in saveWaveFileAudioRecorder:saeFile] exce Addictive Drums 2\197858\SettingADDrop.wav
Are you dragging ADD wav audio files or the midi files? I was only awarenr that the midi files could be drag and drop from the library within the plugin library.
DA Vinci You have to find the AD2.dll file and put it wherever your other Reaper plugins are, then go to Preferences in Reaper, Plugins (or VST's, don't remember) and click on Re-Scan or something like that. OR you could just go to Preferences > Plugins VST's, browse and add the folder where your AD2.dll file is, then you Scan the folder you've created or added, and the plugin will start to appear in the list of VSTi, if not, restart the process and check if you did everything right.
@TutorialsForReaper Okie doke, I dont get why anyone would want to route ADD to sep tracks in the first place. That kinda defeats the purpose of the mixing board and very good presets that seems to be the guts of the software. I mean anyone can whack together drum samples and midi, but ADD really puts effort into...well, taking the effort out of making awesomely realistic drum tracks with different production treatments.

@TutorialsForReaper I actually found something called "MidiFileMapper". It's GM to AD re map. It has options for ez drummer and a few others as well.

@Pkmeg

Thank you man! I finally got it!!!
great video - very helpful thanks - AD + Reaper = very powerful combination!
Thanks! AD almost sounds too good. haha
In the very beggining, when i pick up VSTi there is no option of addictive drums! what do i do?

when i try to load the pluggin i'm not getting the drum set in reaper i'm only getting differenet channels help plz
AD doesn't ask me about bringing each drum to a new track? Is there a way to do it manually?
Curious why you choose stereo output per track as opposed to mono
, seeing that kik, snare etc are recorded in mono, in a 'real' drum session?
Hi man, when i activate addictive drums, the errors occurs to me:
"Effect configuration is preserved"
What i need to do?
Thank you!
Thank you soo much!! i was stuck with the fuckin master channel..
