8:15: The old Magma Mine in Superior had shafts that went down over 5,000 feet. I went down those shafts when I worked with the "bull gang" (salvage crew) back in the 60s.
I lived on that mountain across the way, in the first shot, where you see the houses on the mountain. The houses are on a street called Lane St. I lived there in 1988, when I was 6 yrs young.👍
@@CactusAtlas it was very interesting the Cornish can be found anywhere there is a mine, his son my grandad was born in ironwood Michigan 1865.but they all came back to Cornwall and great grandad died here in 1922 . I think ironwood work dried up and he must have travelled around to find mining work but on his death certificate here he is down as occupation "gold miner" . Haha so we don't know what he was doing as no gold here but plenty copper and tin mines were here for centuries so Cornish were the expert technicians in hard rock mining they also have a big community in Mexico as they settled there also. To this day!. Thanks for the video it was really good to see it, and you explained it so well...we can only admire the sheer hard work, to work in a place like that with a lot of manual work. When most were probably not that well nourished. But I bet they could murder a beer or 2 !
The area around the headframe is closed off because it’s still in use. Water is pumped out of “A” Shaft for use in Globe and in other active mines. Since the 40s the main shaft there has been used solely for water.
Thanks for this! While researching family history I discovered that one of our ancestors actually worked in this copper mine in 1910, so this was fun to see!
Holy shit i shoot UA-cam videos as well. I wasn't aware of this place. I will check it out next time i am out there. thanks I shot four videos between superior and globe. Nice video man.
Sadly, this park is now closed indefinitely due to safety concern regarding mine tailings or groundwater issues.
That's a shame. Looks like some are saying a short while ago that there was drilling going on. Thanks for letting us know.

Love this place, I have many memories, of walking this trail
9:23. You can see the stain of low grade copper on the wall of the concentrator.
Not many people can make a video of a closed down mine with fence around almost everything seem Interesting & Educational.
Thanks Glenn and Amy. I'm learning things about Arizona and Globe that I never knew when I lived there for 30 years. Great video.
Our pleasure! 😄
