    Super cute! Also I just want to say I think it's nice that you keep your little missteps in the video -I don't think I've ever gotten through a full sewing project without having to use the seam ripper at least once 😅 so it's nice to see that I'm not alone!

    Sewed matching mom and daughter Laura Ashley dresses in 1979 on a very similar Kenmore sewing machine. Takes me back. Well done you!

    The final product is so pretty! I'm always so impressed by how well these colors suit you, Lauren. You've really found your perfect color palette. 😊

    I love Kenmore machines as they are the very best and last forever, never give it up even it you buy others as you will always miss it. I have spent forever trying to rebuy my original Kenmore. Love you and your channel, thanks ❤

    First off, you are such a beautiful soul, Lauren. I have been eagerly awaiting your next upload for weeks and this was definitely a treat. Secondly, you are very gracious to take your viewers suggestions on pinning. I switched to the method you are trying to do after similar advice was offered. However, I have seen seamstresses do both ways and I think it really depends on what you find easier and fastest.
    And last but not least, that dress s STUNNING. The details you added really made it perfect.

    Oh my! This is now vintage. I bought this pattern back in the '70s. Lovely fabric. Beautiful dress. Perhaps I'll pull out my pattern again!

      Haha, yes! I love the 70s patterns from Laura Ashley so much. I hope you love it if you decide to pull it back out!

    Your dress is gorgeous.Just a reminder,when using vintage patterns check your measurements.I was sewing in the 70's and the sizes were much smaller than they are today. I love the crochet trim and the threaded ribbon.I don't know how much pressure is on the ribbon waist tie but it might be stronger to make a fabric tie with the ribbon sewn on as a detail.The fabric design and colour palette is so beautiful.The fall of the fabric enhances the frill and gives the fabric lovely movement.

    Isn’t voluminous such a lovely word? 🥰
    You may wish to consider turning your fabric so the bulk goes over the left side of your machine instead of between the needle and the right side (25:50) It’s too easy to catch that pretty material underneath m, damaging it or having to needlessly seam rip.
    I’d be interested to know how you measured for cutting your pattern size. I’ve watched another tutorial for this dress and learned a lot from that make up. Sizing information from different creators can be really helpful.
    Thanks so much for sharing!

    This is a beautiful dress; I love the pattern and the fabric choice. I also admire the way you seem to be able to fold and sew straight lines without threading; I always seem to have trouble following a straight line! 😅

    Well done! I made a very similar dress in yellow gingham with yellow satin ribbon for my high school graduation in 1979! My mother laughs at me because I have a hard time coming to terms with being VINTAGE nowdays.😂

    My mom has that same sewing machine! 😆 I knew it looked familiar! Love these videos so far. And I love RPCo fabric as well. I was afraid the prints would be too busy for some patterns, but they look really lovely and vintage-y. Reminds me of the flour sack dresses I've seen pictures of! I just need to find a pattern that's not too overwhelming for me since I'm petite frame/sizing (why I feel the prints are overwhelming on certain styles...)

    Please don’t feel that it’s not ok to include errors or seam ripping. It’s just fine, and real, and encouraging to those of us who use seam rippers regularly! 😀 the dress is lovely.

    So interesting! I noticed the uncommon way you pinned the fabric and I thought it was because you wanted us to see what you were doing. I have to admit it did bother me 😂 but if that’s what is most comfortable for you then it’s not wrong. It still worked for you.

  • @lfuentes4098
    @lfuentes4098 10 місяців тому

    Just a comment in response to switching the direction of your pins. Are you left handed? If you are then the pins to the left are fine. But if not it would make it easier to lay your pins across to pull off on your right and set your magnetic pin cushion on the right of your machine. I actually found a little flat magnet in the sewing notions section. It’s called a pin trapper. You can peel and stick it to your sewing arm and it holds the pins while you remove them.

    It's just bad timing when the AC goes out in the summer. Our unit is just 10 years old and it was paid off in January. My very smart husband added an additional 10-year warranty for parts and labor because we know how it works. You pay something off and then it breaks down.

    Your dress is lovely. Love your fabric choice. I have that pattern but, I haven’t made the dress yet. So much fabric and that ruffle, yikes. Would you make it again considering the ruffle?

    • @LaurenJohnson
      @LaurenJohnson  11 місяців тому

      Thank you so much Anita! I think I would, but I might consider removing some of the ruffle fabric- I honestly don’t think it needs quite so much to have the same effect, especially if the fabric isn’t extremely fluid. 🩵
