You have a fabulous wardrobe dresses and so beautifully made. Quite elevated. I have a funny story about that dark beige Atelier fabric. I made a SA blouse with a standup ruffle around the v neckline. Easter afternoon I wore it to the park with my husband. We just walked around and after a bit a young woman came up to us laughing. She said "From a distance I saw you in the parking lot and it looked like you were not wearing a top and had little black spots tattooed on your torso or had some skin condition. I knew that couldn't actually be the case and coming closer I see it is a very pretty top " 😅😅
It’s so nice to see how many different dresses you made from just a few patterns. You look stunning in the dress you’re wearing. 🤌 The brownish/beige dress looks good on you. It brings out the auburn in your hair.
Thanks for sharing your makes! I really like all the modifications you made to the Tilly & the Buttons pattern. That's the great thing about sewing your own clothes. 😊 I'm currently cloning a peplum shirt and was trying to think of other hacks for my clone. Have a great week!
That black and white large leaf pattern dress looks fabulous on you. That pattern company uses drawings on the cover to indicate the style, and I usually don't think I want any of them, but if I look up photographs of completed dresses, I do. I'm still in the phase of picturing patterns as 3-D fashion.
Wonderful! You are an inspiration. I started the Darling Ranges dress in the child version but found the front button placket etc very difficult and gave up! Well done you!
Really enjoyed this video. The big take away for me was how you used the same pattern several time but each dress looked uniquely different. Enjoyed seeing all your beautiful makes.
You could add some embroidery or other embellishment in a slightly stronger colour to the top/necklines if the dresses you feel wash you out? Absolutely gorgeous, all of them!
You’ve got quite a collection there. I really like all the fabrics and styles, I think we must have similar taste. As others have said, I like that you’ve taken a pattern and made several variations. This is something I like to do, I think it’s quite thrifty , getting a good use of the pattern. I’m inspired to expand my dress collection now.
I think I am adding my comment to the wrong video. So sorry. I wanted to tell you how much I love your pin cushion that is sewn as a mini purse. SO CUTE!!! Also, I have a fear of making jeans. I have never atempted a pair because I have a huge fear of putting in rivets and putting in the button. However, you did a wonderful job. You did warn me that it wasn't a sew along. I will keep watching videos hoping someone will show rivets. Love your channel. Karen
I have a taff time imagine the drawings with the chosen fabric. Your results -while stunning- are looking so different compared to the pattern picture/ drawing in my eyes.
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress in general. When I pick a pattern and see the outlinings I just can’t imagine the finished product with any other fabric then the shown one.
Sally, What a wonderful array of dresses. So pretty. When you hold those various fabrics up to your face, you can see how well the colors go with your fair skin tone. You seem to be unsure about what looks best on you. I highly recommend that you consider getting your colors done. Personally, I think you look best in the muted colors. Th saturated colors seem to emphasize your light coloring. Maybe a bit too harsh on you. Just something to think about. Thank you for sharing. Suzanne
Thanks Sally, a great selection of both patterns and fabrics. I love the fact that you get so much from a pattern. I made the mistake of buying numerous patterns , many of which I have not made up for one reason or another. My latest plan is to resist buying patterns and instead spend money on better quality fabric which will probably wash and wear better and be more long lasting.
Beautiful dresses in beautiful fabrics! You definitely have a certain style and I think it’s great that you stick to it as you know your garments will get worn. Thanks for sharing Sally! Will look forward to seeing your summer top episode xx
I am always so impressed with the creativity of your “hacks.” You make it sound easy, but I know there is a lot of thought and math and measuring that goes into such. (Maybe I overthink it!) Lovely dresses. Thanks again for the inspiration. 😊
Oh I was so excited when I saw this video coming out and it didn’t disappoint 😍 I love all of your summer dresses, so so pretty!!! Well curated summer wardrobe I think 💕💕💕
LOVED this video! So good! And so many gorgeous makes 😍 it was really inspiring. I get what you mean about the short wrap dress, I don’t really do short dresses anymore either. Just a suggestion- it would make a great beach cover up for a hot holiday! 🧡
Thank you for sharing your sewing and fashion journey. You have many lovely makes out of gorgeous fabrics. Have you ever had your colors done? I did during the pandemic after letting my hair grow out silver. My color palette had changed pretty dramatically. You have lovely, soft coloring. If I were to guess, your preferred neutrals would trend more toward warmer gabardines/sable/dark caramel/navy/teal blue. It's hard to say because of the camera color shifts, but you might want to avoid cool colors, at least near your face. You might consider avoiding high contrast prints like black and white because it can overwhelm your lovely soft coloring. For myself, restricting fabrics to my color palette has revolutionized my wardrobe ensuring that all my garments coordinate with each other in a cohesive way, and most importantly, coordinate with me.
Thank you! I haven’t but I would like to one day. Yes I love warm neutrals I think some of the colours I said didn’t work in the dresses I love as a top so must be something to do with the block of colour 😊 xx
Morning Sally, loved seeing your collection of dresses. I’m finding a similar thing happening with length of dresses for me. I’m not sure why but a few years ago I found the midi length felt a bit frumpy on me but now I’m looking at them more and more and not always choosing the knee length dresses. It’s funny how our tastes change like that isn’t it? I have to say the longer dresses are easier to wear popping about during the day, you need to be more ladylike in the shorter lengths! 😁.❤
Haha yes that is true and it is interesting to see how your tastes change. Not always convenient when you have a load of dresses you no longer want to wear hahaha x
Beautiful dresses think I love all of them..I have the Lyra dress pattern myself but will look at the other patterns…like the hacks you have done…great vlogg❤😊
A) Did you just added a button band on lyra (extra paper) B) or use the skirt part to create the band? So its less gathers because you use part of the skirt to create the band
Thanks for the video, lots of inspiration there. I do the same thing with fabrics. Buy a beautiful colour/pattern and then realise it's not a great colour for me 🫤. Same with patterns. My planning skills need work!
Great vlog, I too am a Naya addict - such a quick and satisfying make. However I’m really stumped on the Donny - specifically the collar/placket construction 🤔 even the FPC sew along didn’t help so it sits on the naughty pile 😬
Great video, inspired me to incorporate a few of your hacks in my fave patterns. Are there measurement adjustments you have to make if using sleeves from one pattern in another dress for eg?
Thank you I’m glad 😌 I’ve never really taken it too seriously, just know that if your armhole is smaller or larger there will be more or less gather at the sleeve head 😊
What would help is mentioning how much you lenghten the skirt by. All the makes are just woww. I am a hijabi so the dresses are my thing too and i dont wear short dresses either. But i always end up flopping the pattern because its a guessing game how much to do it by
Pop over to the blogs I’ve linked in the description they give all of the details as to length and how I extended the button bands - I hope that helps but any other questions let me know 😊 x
The dress with the faux buttons down and across the front would look cute with the stand up mandarin collar. It would pay homage to seongsam style dresses. Cultural appreciation not appropriation.
@SecretLifeOfASeamstress It would be worth it, trust me. It saved me from not liking stuff I make just because the colour I liked wouldn't suit me. It's not hate but for example the black and white dress you're wearing overpowers your face too much. People see the dress not you in the dress. Colour that compliment you would bring out your features and overall make you look more alive and your clothes overall will be more cohesive and you'll be wearing the clothes not the other way around. Also looking into the Kibbe body type system helps a lot with what silhouettes suit best your body type and height 😉

You are incredibly talented! What a fabulous dress collection!!
Thank you - so kind! x

Wonderful! You are an inspiration. I started the Darling Ranges dress in the child version but found the front button placket etc very difficult and gave up! Well done you!
Ah that’s a shame I hope you have better luck with it if you try it again! Thank you for watching xx
Your Lyra dresses are beautiful but your latest is a whole step up and very sophisticated looking.
Ah thank you xx
Love the fabric in the dress you’re wearing
Thank you it’s very bright for me haha
Really enjoyed this video. The big take away for me was how you used the same pattern several time but each dress looked uniquely different. Enjoyed seeing all your beautiful makes.
Thank you! Yes the Darling ranges dress in particular has had its moneys worth haha x
Wow, what a lot of fabulous dresses. Well done!
Ah thank you x
Wow you are very resourceful so many beautiful dresses with few patterns, you inspire me to sew them didnt try them yet
Ah thank you I’m glad to have inspired you xx
You could add some embroidery or other embellishment in a slightly stronger colour to the top/necklines if the dresses you feel wash you out? Absolutely gorgeous, all of them!
Yes that’s a great idea thank you x
An impressive dress collection 😊
Thank you so much xx
Thank you Sally for a great vlog- amazing how different the same dress can look in different fabrics or with a little treat to change something.❤
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yes its always worth playing around and seeing what you can come up with x

Aw thank you! I can’t help you with the rivets I’m afraid as I’ve not attempted them on my pairs so far. Maybe someday haha x

For which dress?
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress in general. When I pick a pattern and see the outlinings I just can’t imagine the finished product with any other fabric then the shown one.
I think it comes with practice and experimenting with different material until you find which you prefer to wear 😊

Thank you! Yes I must get it done it sounds very interesting xx
Thank you Sally you’ve inspired me to reach for my Darling range pattern again and make some different versions
I’m glad 😌 thanks for watching xx

Thank you! There probably should be but most of the time I tend to wing it and see what happens haha. X

Thanks so much x
My favourite type of video!
I’m glad you enjoy them xx
You have a gorgeous but huge dress collection Sally. I must make more dresses. 😅
What a lovely collection. I do like the ditsy pink one 🙂
Thank you I will try and wear that more this summer x
