      refreshing,I started an unplanned journey two years ago my life was changed in irreversible ways. So painful and unwanted was this change of life. Dark I was a Mom without my children. Never had I fathomed being here swimming in pain discomfort scared bewildered at where I was now.I am alive though, still breathing thinking missing still feeling this stark unfamiliarity running through me,I had to be born again.I had to die inside and start from the very being.A child in me was born.I allowed this process I just said yes in my heart and the road to healing was puzzled together piece by colorful piece by me instead of before me.

      And we're all seeking the same when we're looking for the meaning of life, itvsounds like.
      When in fact for example the sentence the meaning of life probably have almost as many answers as people you ask.
      Unfortunately we live in a materialistic, cold, egoistic world where most people are terrified of standing out.
      They don't even have rhe balls to say what they want or think because it's different from the rest of the herd.

I can't help but wonder if the quote is mistranslated or misunderstood from Krishnamurti's native language or something.

    • @paradigma101
      @paradigma101 6 місяців тому

      It is indeed a dumb quote, due to the following:
      1. It needs a strawman, since it negates an unknown (non-existent for all intents and purposes), assumption that doesn't make much sense to begin with
      - being well adjusted to society is a measure of health ???
      2. As an individual, locates the problem (whatever the problem is) in the group consisting of a vast majority, rather than the individual, and does so based on some personal ideas of morality (not being personal wouldn't make much difference either)
      3. What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
      The quote probably made sense and had merit in the specific context it is taken from, but as just the quote, without the context, in its own right, it's bollocks

    • @MarcelGraumans
      @MarcelGraumans 6 місяців тому

      @paradigma101 It makes sense in a way that when society is based on a toxic system (capitalism) that puts profits before people and a narcissistic ideology (neo liberalism) that spits on empathy because it costs money and money is god, so narcissism (self interest, destroying others and the habitat) is the norm,.which is the case in western society, the quote actually makes a whole lot of sense. The denial of this (in the hope of "winning" or "progressing" in this rigged game) is quite delusional aka "no meassure of health". Toxicity isn't very healthy.

      So everyone decides for themselves what the meaning of life is? So Hitler’s meaning of life is just as good as everyone else? Why do we know we shouldn’t torture babies? Because we are all created with some level of morality, or a set of laws that are placed into the heart of every human. Who put that law into all of our hearts? God. Without God, you arrive on your answer, which is to say, “make up your meaning of life.” The creation never decides its purpose, the creator does.

      It's very weird isn't it? It's like people like seeing the train wrecks more than the people trying to give help to avoid becoming the train wreck. I think it makes people feel better to see someone in a similar or worse position. It makes them think, "I'm not the only one," and it normalizes the situation to a degree. But Orion says, "Here is the problem and here is how to fix it," and that puts responsibility on the individual and many don't want to believe that they are responsible for their own predicament.
      Unfortunately, I've seen this in person. Often times, it's best to speak once and only once. If the person wants the change, he/she will then seek you out. Otherwise, let them be. Some have to learn the hard way.

    The intelligence take has many problems. Intelligence often arises from obsessive behavior and rumination coupled with a good memory, curiosity and even bravery. But the problem is that complex thought can have many confounding variables like difficulty concentrating, being hyper-aware, difficulty sleeping, difficulty relating with other people or even being understood by them.
    Also, intelligence is not the ability to fall into good outcomes by brute force. You'd need to be amoral, and manage to bypass any circumstance, no matter how inpractical, bypass all the chaos and inumerable patterns in the world and somehow herd them to your advantage reducing any luck element to zero. We are not Gods.
    Intelligence is many things: like the ability to create complexity, to simplify it, to see patterns, to configure them, to be inquisitive, to be creative, to be experimental, etc. There are so many possible sides that could be worked with that could display what we call intelligence but forcing profitable outcomes is just one of those dimensions.
    It would be hard to not call an incredible painter intelligent, or even the guy that decided to spilt the atom, but the first might have died in hunger and latter opened room for the atomic bomb. Well... Is then the smartest person the one that did the least damage and the maximum amout of good? Who is that person? A kindergarten teacher? Could be. But it would seem simplistic to not call the other guys smart even if they also reaped cathastrophy.
    Intelligence is overvalued for sure, specially because it's confused with success in life. Which is dubious considering the amount of depression, drug habits, bad decisions, etc. It's a coin toss. Better be average/normal to succeed in life.

    "Meaning" by definition is what is meant by a word, text, concept or action. If we take life as a concept, then the meaning of life is quite obvious: you are just meant to survive, and pass your genes to enable the survival of your species. There is really nothing more to life when you think about it, that applies to all living beings, and not just humans. And it perfectly fits what he said around 7:35: "... if there is a meaning to life, it needs to be experienced or approachable at any given place an at any given time...".
