@@coolcat6303 - not sure I would consider a domesticated cat "large". A bobcat is more than capable of killing his cat and his cat seems to agree based on its reaction. While I do agree with you that it isn't overly likely. It's also not a chance I would take with one of my pets just so they could have "outside time". Besides, if he has a bobcat in the area that is that healthy. I guarantee he has coyotes and others in the area that would be more that happy to and very capable of making his cat dinner. Gangster of Love bobcats are not that dangerous. People get totally bad misconceptions about many big cats. It’s actually more scared of you than anything. They’ll only attack you if they felt threatened and cornered or if their kittens or food are involved like any little small cat would too. They won’t eat you whole and they aren’t as strong or big as their cousins Tigers and Lions. If you’re friendly to the bobcat and feed it, it’d probably even be your friend and turn completely docile around you. Cats are sweet. Bobcats, much like cheetahs, would much rather avoid the trouble and risk of taking on a big opponent like a human and sneak around quietly and unbothered. People just don’t understand nature much. Humans are prey to tigers and lions, not smaller big cats like cheetahs and bobcats.
Rodents, rabbits - but when they find easier pray then it's cats, small dogs, chickens, lambs, kids, geese, etc. etc. etc.......................NOT wise to let one hang around the house unless you do not have any small animals.
@@alwaessurius8498 Nature has rules. As I my sister found out. As a hawk snatched up her Yorke. You want to live in the country. You play by it's rules.
That’s true. But we should also let them live because they are beautiful & interesting animals. The woods would be pretty damn boring if all we ever saw was deer & squirrels.
Beautiful. To respond to another comment, keep in mind that we've encroached over just about everywhere "predators" operate so killing them to solve our issues with them is a pretty selfish perspective. This channel emphasizes providing for all those living in their local ecosystem for everyone's benefit.
No, I never had and have no true understanding of what that's like. It must be quite isolating and makes you focus on very different things than I. I offered no judgments, just observations and another perspective.

*Of all wild cats, even up to tigers and lions, the Bob Cat is probably the most intelligent. At around **2:51** in the video (where the cameraman begins to verbally tut), would have been the ideal time to drop a few small cubes of cheese on to the concrete the cat had been sat on. That's assuming he wanted the cat to return of course, and perhaps develop a bond with this beautiful animal. It's something most people (understandably) aren't aware of, but ironically, the sounds people typically make to try and attract a Bob Cat or Fox etc, i.e. verbal clicks, tuts and whistles, are ALL warning and/or mildly aggressive sound signals in a cat's world.* *So in effect, by making such noises, you're actually telling the cat to **_"buzz off and don't come back, or there'll be trouble!"_** Anyone with experience of owning a (domestic) cat, will know that when a cat is relaxed and/or content, he/she will make a long, slow, deep, purring noise. And it's exactly the same with most wild cats other than lions (which use a kind of glottal grunt). So if you want to let a Bob Cat know that you mean it no harm, and that you're basically, a **_'friendly force',_** you should try to emulate that same long, slow, deep, purring sound that a house cat makes when relaxed. Great video footage though. I know I'm probably stating the obvious, but it's NOT a good idea to encourage a Bob Cat to come around, if you have a pet/domesticated cat of your own. A Bob Cat would be highly likely to think of your own cat, as nothing more than lunch-on-legs!*
Excellent information and assessment! You are right in that I did NOT want it to get too comfy around the house since we have a house cat that loves hanging out on the deck! If we did not have a cat I would have loved to keep a bobcat coming back! Good info. Now.... If you liked this one you will LOVE the tiny, baby bobcats I also encountered up close! i was camping in Colorado and was awakened by soft rroww growls outside the tent. I pulled back the flap and surprised a couple of 'cats' a couple of feet away. One was a white domestic cat and the other, I assumed, was her bobcat kit that was almost as big as mommy
Back in the 70s and 60s and 80s ,and of course earlier, These cats would run around the Elysian Park area in the center of Los Angeles ( Dodgers Stadium). Every once in a while the female pet cats in the neighborhood would come up pregnant and their offspring would have little or no tales, people would wonder why.
Don't think bobcats can cross with felis domesticus. The people are probably seeing Manx crosses. But it would be very cool to have a large, tail-less domestic.
They can indeed cross-breed. One of my friends growing up had a wild-looking "kitten" they found out in the fields. Loved to tackle soccer and volleyballs while we were playing a game. He quickly grew to fit his name, Maximus, at around 25 pounds of muscle; golden tabby markings but a shortened tall, tufted ears, and long sideburns all marked his wild ancestors. The neighborhood dogs were all terrified of him, he had free reign of his territory.
@@littleredhen8205 That sounds like my Chausie/Manx cat. He is about 25 lbs. I am pretty sure bobcat crossbreeds are not possible without human interference.

i would definitely be!
Beautiful and dangerous, but such a force of nature deserves some reverence. I would keep your animals inside.
Stargrazer Horse They’re not that big so they’re only dangerous to small animals. Humans & large animals have no need to fear them.
Indoor only time for that cat imo.
@@coolcat6303 Bobcats prey on house cats. I learned that the hard way!
@@martinsharrett1872 good thing they clearly said small animals would need to fear, not humans and big animals, assuming like horses.
@@Rhaenarys - the only animal I mentioned was a domesticated cat. Additionally the only pet we know the poster owns for certain based on this video is a domesticated cat. Which is, at a minimum, allowed outside at least sometimes.
Oh and it wasn't long ago we thought a healthy full grown bull elephant had nothing to fear from lions.... *shrug*
Beautiful colors. I always click my tongue to “talk” to wild animals, interesting how it usually calms them down.

Very Rare to see a Bobcat in the daytime. Rather bold little cat.
Thanx for filming it.
It must be hungry for feeding its young
I just read the aforementioned post.. and it was my thoughts exactly...probably hungry

Not really. I used to think that , but we lived for years in an area that had big populations of them and cougars, and the bobcats were around a lot, but it was rare to catch sight of a cougar.
Two kinds of cats there. One is cool and one is a fraidy.

That's a characteristic even in domesticated cats that signals potential prey is in sight. My indoor kitty does it watching birds through the window...that and twitch her whiskers! 😜
Aaarrrr! That close up! What a beautiful face!
Agreed!
Awesome. She looks like she's smiling! When a domestic cat looks at you, with eyes like that, it's a friendly cat.

Esteban Nemo are bobcats dangerous? they look friendly
Jacques Naw, bobcats are just like a cute, cuddly little Disney character. They're not like wild animals or anything.
Yea, I can envision a Lady and the Tramp spaghetti eating scene with my house cat. My cat would be the spaghetti.
@@droppa57kgx24 the concern is not one of danger to the humans, but rather to their pets.

Rodents, rabbits - but when they find easier pray then it's cats, small dogs, chickens, lambs, kids, geese, etc. etc. etc.......................NOT wise to let one hang around the house unless you do not have any small animals.

Yep, humans have been using cats to hunt mice for 15,000 years.

As a dedicated hunter myself, there is/was no reason to do so. The vast majority of us hunters aren’t mindless killers. I enjoy observing bears, wildcats, and other charismatic fauna just as much as I enjoy harvesting deer for the freezer.
Incredible footage! I love watching the tail wag as the Bobcat sights the geese on the pond. Funny how you can see the anxiety and excitement in their tails whereas the rest of their body remains still and composed, in wild and domestic(house) cats.

Thank you! Those little Cubs are adorable!
It's something most people (understandably) aren't aware of, but ironically, the sounds people typically make to try and attract a Bob Cat or Fox etc, i.e. verbal clicks, tuts and whistles, are ALL warning and/or mildly aggressive sound signals in a cat's world.*
*So in effect, by making such noises, you're actually telling the cat to **_"buzz off and don't come back, or there'll be trouble!"_** Anyone with experience of owning a (domestic) cat, will know that when a cat is relaxed and/or content, he/she will make a long, slow, deep, purring noise.
Here is the link and if you enjoyed them both please share them for us we greatly appreciate that! Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/0FmaVwSlmGw/v-deo.html

@@Bob_Adkins They can cross-breed.
Yup.
"Stubbs" was the product of one such crossbreeding, in East Texas. No human intervention.
