On the way out to rescue Dan from being stuck in the woods with a dead truck battery, I found a bobcat kitten all alone and laying on a dirt road. I rescued her and took her to a wildlife rehabber. There is a sad update at the end of the video 💔

I came over from tik tok to see the rest of Banjos story… I was wondering why she may have been left on that road alone & then you mentioned she had seizures. I wonder if the momma sensed this & that’s why she abandoned the baby (Banjo). I’m happy she wasn’t alone & got some love near the end! ❤️

makes no sense… it looked heathy… why would it have seizures.? someone leave the kitty alone with some young kids - and blame it on seizures.?

I wonder if momma bobcat abandoned her because she witnessed seizures. Nature can be cruel, but apparently the momma's instincts were solid, if my guess is correct.

Yea that is what I think as well. At least the sweet baby got to be comfortable in her last few days
The mother Bobcat saw this as weakness, as with most wildlife, almost all of babies born with some kind of weakness are abandoned or straight up ignored like with some birds, weak babies either just die in the nest, abandoned nearby or the mom kills it. Squirrels just kick their weak babies out their nest hoping the fall will kill it.

Abandoned by the mother. Nature has cruel ways of separating survival of the fittest. Bless you for finding this cat.😸
My wild guess is that momma knew that kitten wasn´t healthy and just left him. If this is is the case, I wouldn´t look at it as story with bad ending. Kitten wasn´t alone, hungry and in cold. Was with somebody who took care of him.
That doesn´t mean im in tears now, year ago I found little kitten who couldn´t eat and was left alone. Luckily, I knew someone in shelter and the kitten took 14 days to recover. I can tell you, this was the longest 14 in my life and I couldn´t even sleep. Now she is happy cat :)

I lost a kitten I tried rescuing. It was the first cat I had to put down. I lost my shit bad. It was really hard. You are a kind soul and bless you for doing your best. He didn’t have to be alone in the end.
At least she spent her last days with some loving people 🙏
Sad to see this story, maybe by serendipity, on youtube. I had a bobcat that I found in a burned tree as a kitten, post a forest fire in Central Calif; his name was Teddy. He lived a great life with us/me and grew up to a ripe old age and had many outdoor adventures (akin to some of the other bobcat, lynx, panther and mountain lion vids you can see on youtube). I love to flyfish and he would always accompany me on long hiking and camping trips - never running off but staying with his "family" (I had a dog and a domestic cat that came too). Your nice little bob' kitten was likely abandoned by it's mother when she experienced the kitten's seizures. Nature seems cruel at times but it is consistent, if anything. So happy you took action to give it comfort.

Not a great story since it's illegal to own a bobcat in CA as a pet. They're an apex predator. Not a pet. You were lucky not to have been injured by it. Talk to the woman who had her face ripped off by her friend's chimp.
I rescued a bobcat kitten 6 years ago, he's now 50 pounds, pretty much a jumbo sized cat. He's loving and affectionate. He can "woof" like a dog. He can be a jerk also.
You're a jerk for not taking him to a wildlife center.

that bobcat kitten is way more tame than the feral kittens I took in. i had to use a trap to catch them. even with 11 years of socializing they are still shy around others (not me though, thankfully).
I have enough negativity in my life and then I hear stories like this when the poor baby kitten couldn't be saved and it died without its mommy. It hurts my heart so bad I can't take it. It ruins my day
The kitten wasn't alone in a field it was surrounded in love with people who cared and tried their best to help it survive. There's beauty within the sadness

I think it's common for mama cats to abandon a kitten when they know it's unhealthy and could potentially affect the health of the litter mates. You're so kind to have given this baby love in her final days. Such a heartbreaking conclusion to this story. 💔

It's wonderful ears remind me of Serval cats. God brought this kitten to the right place and time to be saved. Wonderful cutie.

The seizure disorder is probably why the mama abandoned it. At least you gave it a better end to its life.

I’m glad you waited to make sure she wasn’t coming back before rescuing baby, & thank God you were there otherwise it wouldn’t have survived on it’s own… sooo cute when they’re babies! This is not normal behavior for wild cat even this age. It should be hissing at you with a high energy level. Something is seriously wrong. He looks dehydrated and disoriented and stumbling when walking. When they appear this tame, they are very sick already. Poor little thing. Thank you for your care and concern. Very sad he did not make it.
We found what we though was a tiny baby kitten as well. Still had it's Eyes closed. By the side of a busy road. So we turned around stopped and took it home. Later to realize it was a baby bob cat faral cat mix or hybrid. We bottle feed it and raised it. He is 6 months old and bigger than a full grown house cat. Though he has a long tail. He has the hind legs, and large paws, the ears and facial including the large nose. We call him buzz. Because of his activness. He has the ears of a bobcat and markings , and does not meow, he gurgles and purrs are extremely loud. He gets along with our sheppard husky mix, Rio. One thing for certain he lives beef and not fish or sea food. All he wants is cat beef and gravey. He is an outstanding hybrid and has no fear. But sure loves to play.

I could tell something was wrong with the kitten even before you stated it didn't survive. His pupils were very constricted in one of the still pics in the video. At least you made it very comfortable in the end.

That could be the reason the momma left, because they know if a baby is sick or has a disability & they sadly abandon them when they’re like that, so she probably knew it suffered from seizures or had brain problems. (If it had it at that time, that is) I say “it” because I don’t know if it’s male or female.

I'd be concerned it was rabies given the lack of fear and seizures. Mom may have passed it to kittens and died of it leaving kittens alone. Poor little thing.
That's why her mom had abandoned her in the first place. So sad :(

I'm sorry it didn't make it 😔. I was thinking it was sick or something is wrong with it; or that its momma had been killed. That's the rule of nature. Sometimes human intervention helps others not so much.
Maybe the mother abandoned the kitten because of the seizures.
In nature, often, when the mother find something very wrong about an ofspring will leave the young and quit.

AAAAWWWW So sad what a beautiful kitten and kind lady. The mother cat must of known it was sick and wasn't going to survive. That's why she left, make you wonder. Was it exposed to some kind of chemicals? Same with the mother also.

The mother must have died for that cat to be so friendly to you the bobcats usually the babies aren't that friendly unless the mother passed away so did the baby kitten die or not cuz I saw in the comment it looked like it said that the the bobcat died did you save it or did it die but if it did die at least you gave it some love and comfort
I took her to a wildlife rehab and she died several days later. So the baby was able to be comfortable her last few days
i did not like this ending..you are bearer of bad news..next time say kitten was happy and living best life

Possibly the mother abandoned her because she was having seizures. The weakest of the litter is often discarded. So sad. Thank you for showing it kindness in it’s very short time here.

That's what the vet told us. That more than likely it was sick and momma left her. We did everything we could. It was also the wrong time of year for there to be a kitten that small. This was in September when it was 100° outside and not to far from winter. I don't know if it would have even made it at that young age in the cold. Not the way we wanted it to end but it was sweet and loved before it left this world. Thank you for the comment!

Look how tame he is after just meeting you. Kind of destroys all the bull we've been told about them having to be bred for thousands of years by humans in order to get the wild out of them, like domestics have been. This guy is as tame as a domestic kitten and likely has never been close to or maybe have never even seen a human. That's so cool.
Actually, my domestic was born away from my brothers house, and they were wild as they could be. Took 3 days staying in my bedroom to go from wild, to sleeping on top of me... another reason not to believe the aforementioned myth unless we believe that thousands of years of breeding was removed in 3 days, plus, those wild domestic kittens would never have been wild at all if the myth were true.

Wild mamal babies have this trait of throwing caution to the wind and accepting help from humans when they are abandoned by their mothers. I've personally seen it happen with deer and squirrels.
