I remember my hair being threaded as a child; they'd thread all my hair without leaving any gaps and then tie it all up so my head looked somewhat like a basket lol. Taking it down was so exciting though - my hair would be so soft and long. Truly the OG heatless blowout
How long would they leave it in before take down?
@@klassy86 I'd usually have a style in for 2 weeks and then my threads/braids/whatever style my hair was in would be taken down and my hair would be washed then put back into braids or something. I'm African and back in the day we didn't have braidouts or twistouts, the braids/threads/twists were the actual styles :) it's cool to see people do more things with their hair these days!
How did they remove the thread if it's tied at the end?
@@KarlaBedminister Cut the thread at the end, and just pull.
@@nardagraham1002 OK.
This style was modernised and called Sexy African Threading (S.A.T) here in Nigeria. It is a beautiful style and you did beautifully
This is amazing we called them thread 🪡 twist where I’m from South Carolina, US.
Wow… sexualizing a cultural hairstyle 🤦🏾♀️
Sexy doesn’t mean actual sex! I was going to tell her this is a sexy look does not mean I look at her in a sexual manner but I appreciate the romantic look 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏽♀️.
@@MsPrettyEyes26 you are the one sexualising this style, sexy has nothing to do with sex be it the verb or pronoun. Please don't come and set confusion here biko
Actually had to watch it again and I'm already a convert. The one thing I never liked about twists was how it left my ends exposed and I would get single-stranded knots and splits every other day. But this remedies that with the beads AND it looks cute? I'd always seen that thread in shops but I never knew what to do with it so thank you for teaching us ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
This method is absolutely gorgeous. I have a tip if you still want to rock two-strand twists. Take the end of your twist and wrap it up and around the twist you just finished it makes a little blunt bulb at the end! Hope that was clear lol I believe naturally nica has a short video demonstrating :)
I have to try this, as I struggle with the loser ends and my braids making me look like pippi longstockings because they don't stay straight!
Do mini braids instead of twists..🤷🏼♀️
Don't forget you can put bead on twist!
I read about old southern women doing this on their natural hair. They used silk thread, and advised to only let it out on Sundays for church.
please make a video on how you maintain it during week days and also how you maintain loosed twists to ensure healthy hair.
I personally like a little bit of shrinkage. It gives volume and a nice bounce. Looks better with a little bounce
I love this hairstyle!🙂🙂🙂 The beads add a nice touch to the style. Yes, this style came out GORGEOUS! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I'm from Cameroon and I remember this, I like this style cus you're hair strands isn't as rigid as the original threading. I love them both and thi style is magnificent on you😍
Wow 👏🏾👏🏾 it’s time to revisit threading 🧵 with beads 😍 you’re so creative!
I just love the thickness of your hair. It's so beautiful
Soooo beautiful! LOVE the hair and the overall styling 😍😍😍 The jewellery combo is LUSCIOUS and the crimps are so even and well defined. I have no idea how you do it, my arms get tired after doing a quarter if my head 😅
This is what I do on a weekly basis but without the beads- thanks for the tips, I can make it look more professional 👌🏾
@Mia Winchester it depends on the parting and length of your hair/the person's speed unoe..10mins-1hr approximately.
It can last for weeks but that depends on how you keep it.
@Mia Winchester the take down is super easy. Just locate the thread and pull. It comes loose easily.
I love the tip for the roots! I have been threading my daughter’s hair more often the past few months. She loves it and it is helping us retain length, as she desires. Thanks for sharing!
How long does it last?
@@klassy86 once you start noticing build up on your scalp, take it down and wash your hair.
Don't forget to rest your head on a satin pillow case and put on your satin hair bonnet when you're about to retire for the day.
Where did you get the thread, what kind of thread?
Are you still threading. I want to start my granddaughters hair
Beautiful some gaps or SAT as Yellow Sisi calls it! It's so beautiful on you(as usual)😁😍
I appreciate the close up of how to start the threading with a twist and grip the thread. I'm going to try this on myself and daughter
Somegaps!!!! Our aunties did this for us as little girls.
I used to be so excited for this hairstyle back in high school, it's crazy. I'm from Gabon 🇬🇦
I really love this hairstyle. This hairstyle is very simple but very nice. I would love to do this hairstyle as well. Your hair is beautiful 😍
Thank you for this tutorial. I tried it on my daughter and it came out looking beautiful.💗
I want to try this when my hair is a bit longer. Thanks for sharing :)
Beautiful. This is the type of threading we used to do in the Caribbean but I never saw it with beads. Nice.
Beautiful hair results! My hair is thin but I would like to try this beautiful protective style. 😍
I'm so gald that you had a big up from another YTuber who gave you a SHOUT OUT for your threading vids. It's time for my 4c dark-skinned sisters to get the ratings... This is a protective style for us ladies with 4c+ hair.... Its beautiful and belongs to us.... 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾Just did my daughter's hair... In the same style and she loved it... Thanks hun ❤️😍❤️
Thank you so much! I’m about to do some gaps on my daughter! We needed a break from braids. Love this!!
We call this "maphondo" in Botswana 🇧🇼. Means horns, and the style usually sticks out of the head like horns for shorter hair
I watched this video and trust me I made mine added beads and it's damn beautiful.. thanks for style inspo..
Wow I like this very much I’ll definitely try this for long term protective styles. Thankyou
Beautiful. I can’t wait to try this style

The style is beautiful 💜 one of my favorite can’t wait to try it. Again 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You did an excellent tutorial , I love twists but the shrinkage after the pool was a deterrent, this is a Game changer❤❤❤
You are so beautiful, mama. I love your hair, your top, your necklace, your skin, your face, your smile, your accent, your make-up, everything. Thank you for the tutorial!
This is such a beautiful style 😍
Lovely technique! The end result is absolutely gorgeous!!
This is soo beautiful and I'm in love with you and your hair already😍... I'll definitely try this out soon ❤️
How do you maintain it at night??!??!!??!! I love it so much !!
I'm loving it. I'll do it too
I think I love ❤️ it so much as I do not want to braid with extensions anytime soon due to how much hair I lose when taken off
Really nice. I love it. Natural
This looks so beautiful moist as a style
thanks! i just did mine for first time bcuz of ur video🤗 i used regular sewing thread but ill try to get better options in future.
After I saw this video I went to my local African salon and had it done. I’ve already had it done twice in the last three months. My question is will the thread start cutting my hair if I do it too much back to back?? thank you so much for your feedback 🥰 I love this hairstyle I would keep my hair in this style all year if I could but I don’t wanna start getting damage😅
I was wondering about that too and also what the thread actually is that doesn’t soak up moisture. Is it polyester? Silk?
@@Alexsjusa If you use rubber or acrylic thread, it will probably absorb less moisture.
I wanna try this now. I need to get myself this thread.🇿🇦
I love this I’m going to try this on genny’s hair for sure this summer
Your hair is gorgeous!
Absolutely beautiful!! How do you take it out without cutting your hair?
You cut the thread and it comes right off
Definately trying this in the near future
I am impressed. I would definitely do this.
I really am gonna try this
Thanks it would be a great vacation hairstyle

Thank you! I’ve been feeling like I only wear one style as of late
Beautiful! Did you blowdry your hair first?
Do beautiful. And the threaded twist too. I just subbed to your channel and Bless 🙏🏾 you so much for this very thorough tutorial❣
Love this I have been thinking about doing a video on this but my hair is short so I'm figuring out how to use extension and make it look natural.
Beautiful! ❤
This is very beautiful. I definitely want to try. Can you share the kind of threading used to do this? Thk u ❤
this is so cute😍
Gorgeous gorgeous. What make up do you use as well? It blends so beautifully.
I love this. Saved. Can you safely wash it while it's threaded?
yes
you are so talented! Beautiful!!
It's really beautiful ! Imma gonna be doing this too
This is so cute, I wanna try this.
I just knew that it is "some gaps" and not "Sun gas" as I called it when I was little, omg😂😂😂. Thanks for this lovely video hun.
This is just so beautiful
Beautiful! I love it!
Queen of hairstyling
I got some rubber African thread on Etsy and did a bootleg version of this style😅 but I love it. I only knew about the first method, threading all of your hair, my Mom would thread my hair all the way to get a blowout look, but it was with cotton thread. This is wayyy better and I can leave in for weeks and be cute. You make it look so good!
this look soo beautiful
Thank you so much girl. GOD BLESS YOU.
It's gorgeous. Can you how how to safely take it down after the 2 weeks? Do you cut the thread from the bottom and the top?
Love the style.❤ have you ever used yarn ??
*Love it, you're so cute!¡* I hope I don't have to drive to the north side of Chicago for the soft African thread, but since I'm about 45min away I don't really mind terribly. I will look close by 1st. Thanks for the plug! Probably would try it with all black beads.
This is Soo good...I'm gonna try it. 😌🤗🥺💙
This was very helpful. Thank you!
This is absolutely beautiful! I actually want to try this? Is the African thread, like regular threads, or is it able to bend? The way this technique was being done, it seems as though if you let go of the thread, while you're wrapping it around the hair at the beginning and as well as down the length of the hair, that it won't unravel or become loose. Am I correct? Please educate because I really want to try this with the beads and all.😊
I love that style!
I love it. How do you take care of it while it’s in it? Do you not need to at all?
It looks nice and thick
So lovely
Great style !
