These guys have been playing heavy for 30 years. Over 20 albums. Welcome to the fun.
As a Japanese person I am very happy that you appreciate it. 💐
This band: ~22 albums since 1987 !!
@10:15~ As a Japanese person, I'm really glad to hear what you said!
Thank you so much ♡
Holy shit Johi, I just found these guys and noticed you did a reaction. Basically I had the exact same sensation of being shocked with wonder and awe. Amazing stuff. I have to go find my head now because it partially dissolved into the cosmos listening to this!
It was announced by the organizers of OzzfestJapan that Black Sabbath would be playing live in 2013,
and the bassist of Ningen Isu was also on hand for tickets to Ozzfest.
One day, the organizers of Ozzfest phoned the drummer of Ningen Isu.
It was a request for Ningen Isu to appear at OzzfestJapan.
It was the good news of a dream for them, but they were also concerned that they were being duped by someone,
so they checked again and again.
That's because the other performers always played to tens of thousands of people,
while Ningen Isu is played to music halls with a capacity of hundreds to thousands.
At Ozzfest Japan 2013, while Zakk Wylde was playing, Ningen Isu set up their own equipment on the other side of the stage with a few assistants,
and at intermission they were doing a sound check, so the crowd looked at them strangely,
but when the sound came on, a lot of people poured forward.
And they were the only ones shouted at for the encore, as people seemed to be captivated by their sound.
Because of this, he also performed at OzzfestJapan2015 with an offer.

I had the same reaction. They're just awesome. Check out Namahage and Life for Sale for a couple other great songs from them. Their catalog goes back 30 years, and there's so much great old school metal sound from them.

Shinji did a guitar battle with Kanami from Band Maid on a kids weekend morning show. It's really cute and funny at the same time. Look for it.
Shinji Wajima - lead g, literary master garbs from the Meiji era - vocals, main composer and lyricists
Ken-ichi Suzuki - bass, buddhist monk with death face, vocals, lyrics, composer
Nobu Nakamima - drums, yakuza gangster, vocals and lyrics, composer
Whaat. That i have to see

(Small correction: Nobu Nakajima)
@@JohiPlays They way the dress, the drummer is dressed as yakuza, the guitarist is dressed like someone from the Meiji era (1868 - 1912) & the bass guitarist is dressed like a Buddhist monk. In the older video's the guitarist used to dress like a character from the 60's manga series Kitarō of the Graveyard that is supossed to be rat-human half-breed.
one of my new favorite band along with Band maid and Baby metal....enjoy
Congratulations for your discovering the band without someone(like me)'s suggestions!
Unexpected encounter is more delightful in many cases, I suppose.
Yeah all those metal genre you mentioned, this band has done those genre in their 22 albums since 1987. The core members are Shinji Wajima (guitar) & Ken-ichi Suzuki (bass) since the beginning. They only release albums/songs that they intended (8 minutes song? Unconventional song structure? So what) thus they were never a profitable success before and only known among Metalheads in Japan and some foreign fans. this video explain in details of their album history:
Music Is A Journey, Episode 22: About Ningen Isu
ua-cam.com/video/7bhCzT-PXns/v-deo.html
Yes, Ningen Isu was strongly influenced by Black Sabbath. Other influences include UFO, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Budgie, King Crimson, and similar artists. The play style of Wajima's guitar is influenced by guitarists such as Robert Fripp, Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, Ace Frehley, Michael Schenker, and also the sound of Tsugaru-jamisen. Suzuki loves Kiss and paints his face white and moves like Gene Simmons. Suzuki has a high opinion of Nakajima's eight beat.
Wow, tiaopiak, thanks for guiding us to the very informative site. What a wonderful site in English for those who desperately want info on Ningen Isu but unfortunately do not speak or read Japanese. I'm a Japanese fan tho. It's like a wonderful place where I can improve my English knowledge while deepening my understanding of the band at the same time.
「一粒で二度美味しい」サイトです。(笑)
Congratulations on being, I think, the 1st to react to this song. This piece has just hit the 'reaction' genre video scene like a tsunami. And rightfully so. I've heard it 20 times and I still get a thrill. It's been many many years since that's happened to this music fan. System of the Down, Zeplin, Sabbath you name it. This recording (studio mix down) can keep its own even in such company. A rock&roll masterpiece. Sadly the western (US&Europe) music empires are not interested in watering down their stock by introducing serious competition. "Zerr are 13 Flavors And You Will Like IT!!". Very skilled & creative people. Always great to see good music created by hand.

I'm from Japan Thank you for your interest in Japanese music.

I saw them on Feb. 20th in Bochum on their very first overseas tour after 30 years! They did 3 gigs, one in Berlin the day before and London right after Bochum. It was impressive, how they filled the hall with sound. The mood was very familiar, such as: Hi guys, nice to see you here finally.
Heartless Scat in Bochum: ua-cam.com/video/8adZp4v07xo/v-deo.html
Btw. the "u" is not been spoken, if it follows the "s" in the Japanese language. I noticed it, when they introduced themselves for the tour, but now I´m not so sure anymore, because I just read the comment from showgee and he is from Japan. I found their small tour - announcement and I think there is no "u". ua-cam.com/video/OOnm8ognESU/v-deo.html
@@SergofSorry for my late reply, but I got no notification about Your comment. Many many thanks for these detailed informations. I will take a look at them right now, and yes You are right, I´m the one with the B-M Shirt. I bought it in Hamburg and it was a good decision, because after the concert I was soaking wet and so I got a shirt to change to prevent a cold outside.
Btw. I´m curious, how You recognized me here...ach I think I wrote somewhere, that I wore a B-M shirt and someone from the staff liked it, or were You also at BAND-MAID in Bochum?
They have been going for thirty years and you can tell they learned their trade very well.
Your Grandpa is playing, LOL! Love it!
I call them Grandfathers of J-rock! Next with Ningen Isu: Life for Sale... and don't forget the subtitles. The all female band (grandmothers of J-rock) Show-Ya was a couple years earlier.. check them out! Just bought a T-shirt from You! ;-)
Check out Namahage next, another classic from them, very Sabbath that one.

I highly recommend another their song for your next reaction, NAMAHAGE, I like the song more than Hartless Scat.
Please check it out.
How can you not have a smile on your face watching this???
this song kicks so much ass lol
about to check if you've done any OPETH after this 🤟
Two thumbs up Nigen Isu.
It's GREAT you found NINGEN-ISU!!! I was shocked , of course in a good way, when I heard their songs at first. And one of their masterpiece is this song!! They have a lot more. I want you to check their lyrics too. It has english subs. What I love about their music is their humanity, sense of art, and philosophy. Their songs are sooo tasty !!!
NINGEN-ISU "LIFE FOR SALE" is great too!! ua-cam.com/video/-IGOPfDQj6o/v-deo.html
since 33 years ago
They've been doing British hard rock in the '70s.
They're really cool guys.
人間椅子(_๑òωó)_ 最高だ!

Glad to know you've found 人間椅子(Human Chair), Johi. I guess you feel as if you found yourself in sort of Music Jurassic Park😁 Well, I'm surprised that you perfectly pronounced the band name.
A piece of advice from their fan: click on Setting then Subtitles/CC to choose whatever the language you favor, no Finnish tho. Knowing the lyrics would help you further appreciate their works.
I am a bit unsure, I always thought the "u" isn´t spoken after an "s", just like "desu". and I noticed it when I saw their small video for the Europeas tour. I understood: we are NINGEN IS . Please enlighten me.
@@joki5346, thanks for your reply and sorry for being so late in responding to you.
Well, I should have added "especially the Ningen part" at the end of the sentence. During the lunch break at office I found this video by Johi and was quite surprised to hear his pronunciation of Ningen part. As you know it well, English speaking people tend to pronounce 'gen' part like that of gentleman, but he didn’t. I was so surprised that wanted to comment quickly on that before the lunch break finished.
Stress is on Ningen, not Isu part tho. So, you are correct in that sense. However, I am not sure whether “u” after “s” becomes silent or not. For an average Japanese person to pronounce a consonant independently is almost impossible. For people who grew up in Tohoku region, which includes Aomori pref. both Wajima-san and Suzuki-san are from, it may be a piece of cake tho because their dialect do have independent consonants.
as to the similarity of Finnish and Japanese pronunciation, here is an funny video if you care to watch;
ua-cam.com/video/37QprF6Bb88/v-deo.html
@@showgee Thank You so much for the link, yes it is funny and suprising at the same time. Before I traveled to Japan to meet my friend Vladimir Chupin to go to Nagoya and Kobe to visit the BAND-MAID concerts, I bought a Deutsch - Japanisch / Japanisch Deutsch (doitsu - sound nearly the same) dictionary to study the words. There are also so many similarities between both languages, that I started to write them down. At the end I had 10 big sheets of paper fullwritten. For me it is also easy, just like the Finnish people to pronounce Japanese, because the vowels are written ( Romaji) and spoken the same, in opposite to English. To come back to NINGEN ISU: I looked for the Tour announcement and like to put it here for Your information. ua-cam.com/video/OOnm8ognESU/v-deo.html Kind Regards from Kita Doitsu.
I think that we Nordic languages and Japanese is some kind of similar sounds in our languages and in other aspects we in the Nordic countries have the similar ways to the Japanese people in several aspects...
Finnish has a lot of vowel similarities with Japanese, so it isn't terribly hard for Finns to pick it up at least in theory.
It’s a band that is not famous in Japan
Unfortunately, even if I ask 10,000 people, only one person knows it.
I'm glad that people from overseas listen to it even if many Japanese don't know…
NI N GE N I SU is a heretic, unlike other Japanese musicians.
Most of Japanese songs are love songs.
However, this band deals with serious and important issues that other bands do not, such as the view of life, religion, morality, and life and death.
