I suspect that this song is very very personal to them. If you think about it, after 30 years of being devoted fully to this, being their lives' work, they are finally getting recognition abroad, people across the globe are expressing their love for their art and so many of us are trying to dig into their stuff, understand it, enjoy it and appreciate it. I think with this in mind, parts of the song are almost tear jerking.
The clothes reflect exactly what Ningen Isu are. I don't understand Japanese but I did some research about them online. They really like to blend metal with themes related to Japanese and Chinese classical literature. The doom part of their music is also related to more recent Japanese literature in combination of Buddhist perspectives about hell and Shinto myths (themes that are both present in the Japanese classic literature). Here are some examples: 'The name of the band is taken from the 1924 short story The Human Chair by Edogawa Rampo. Edogawa Ranpo was a Japanese author and critic who played a major role in the development of Japanese mystery fiction. Ranpo was an admirer of Western mystery writers, and especially of Edgar Allan Poe. His pen name is a rendering of Poe's name.' 'Namahage in traditional Japanese folklore is a demonlike being, portrayed by men wearing hefty oni (ogre) masks and traditional straw capes (mino) during a New Year's ritual of the Oga Peninsula area of Akita Prefecture in northern Honshū, Japan. (...) The legend of the Namahage varies according to an area. An Akita legend has developed regarding the origins of namahage, that Emperor Wu of Han (d. 87 BC) from China came to Japan bringing five demonic oni to the Oga area, and the oni established quarters in the two local high peaks, Honzan and Shinzan. These oni stole crops and young women from Oga's villages. (...) An obvious purpose of the festival is to encourage young children to obey their parents and to behave, important qualities in Japan's heavily structured society. Parents know who the Namahage actors are each year and might request them to teach specific lessons to their children during their visit.' 'The Colour Out of Space' is a science fiction/horror short story by American author H. P. Lovecraft, written in March 1927. In the tale, an unnamed narrator pieces together the story of an area known by the locals as the "blasted heath" in the wild hills west of the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts. The narrator discovers that many years ago a meteorite crashed there, poisoning every living being nearby; vegetation grows large but foul tasting, animals are driven mad and deformed into grotesque shapes, and the people go insane or die one by one.' 'The King of Terror is a BBC Books original novel written by Keith Topping and based on the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It features the Fifth Doctor, Tegan, Turlough, The Brigadier, and UNIT. The title may be a reference to a purported prophecy by Nostradamus predicting the arrival of a "King of Terror." Some scholars have argued the phrase is a misinterpretation of one French word for another, but nevertheless it remains in popular use.' Voice of nothing: ' Śūnyatā pronounced in English as /ʃuːnˈjɑː.tɑː/ (shoon-ya-ta), translated most often as emptiness and sometimes voidness - is a Buddhist concept which has multiple meanings depending on its doctrinal context. It is either an ontological feature of reality, a meditative state, or a phenomenological analysis of experience. 'The Love Suicides at Sonezaki is a love-suicide Bunraku play by Chikamatsu Monzaemon. While not his first one (which was probably the puppet play The Soga Successors in 1683) nor his most popular (which would be The Battles of Coxinga), it is probably the most popular of his "domestic tragedies" or "domestic plays" (sewamono) as Donald Keene characterizes the non-historical plays.'
those two guitarist are from Aomori, the next snowy country of Akita. and guitar solo of “namahage” have Tsugaru(=a part of Aomori)-shamisen lick. I'm a Japanese but I learned a lot from your comment. your research ability is amazing! thanks!
for Nostradamus issue is that he wrote in Middle French, which has somewhat different vocabulary and syntax as modern French and like Da Vinci wrote in a kind of personal code.
Thanks for reminding me how great Ningen Isu are, I'm definitely going to have to get their new album! And it was one of the best songs I've heard from them too, that intro was perfect.

I'm one of those people who have disposed of several arms and legs acquiring Ningen Isu CDs. Love 'em to bits, and this track has leapt straight to the top of the heap. So much talent and class and fun. And stonking great riffage. Great reaction, cheers!
Ningen Isu excellent as always. I'll definitely be picking this album up when it comes out. And yes, my head started nodding at the same time as yours.
I've probably listened to this song more than 100 times in the last 6 months and the second solo still catches me by surprise with how fucking tight it is.

very good reeves and arangiments ,very good compositions,i think from this song may be made 3 song, but all is good. i realy like this band ,respect. Your reaction is good 2
I really don't listen to music reviews often, prefer to form my own opinion -but- this band is so shockingly good was curious how others felt about the song. Seems to the Western reviews I've seen almost universally unknown yet have been playing together for over 30 years & have made 21 albums/disc together. I'm wagering this song in particular is going to be a springboard for Ningen Isu & best wishes to them with there new found fame. There all over 50 y/o so better late than never ;-).
The name of the band was taken from the title of an old Japanese novel by Edogawa Rampo. It’s a weird story about a man’s soul that lives in a chair, feeling the warmth of women that sit on him.
NINGEN ISU! They're the trailblazers of Japanese Metal, their Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin. They were knew by few outside and even inside Japan but are on the road for 30 years, many albums. "Guitarist Shinji "Wazzy" Wajima is dressed as a Meiji Master (a professor in late 1800's into the the early 1900's). Bassist Kenichi Suzuki is a death-touched Buddhist monk. Drummer Nobu Nakajima is dressed as a Yakuza. All three can and do sing lead as well, in fact Nobu has a really impressive set of pipes, although he sings lead pretty sparingly. Most of their songs are about traditional Japanese literature/legends, Buddhist philosophy, and classic horror like HP Lovecraft. (erumi36)".

They said they liked Black Sabbath a lot, and after listening to this song, it kind of makes sense. Of course the technique is good, but the lyrics are better.
That was just great, but what a strange collection of guys.....??? The bass player looks like he was getting ready for a kabuki performance when they called him away, mid makeup, to film the video.
No one ever mentions the drummer, who drives them with passion and real grunt. Love that he looks like a rocker straight out of Hawaii Five'o! (Five'0 ?)
Wazzy looks like my old history teacher from high school. He was a great fan of Soft Machine and the Police. I used to trade all sorts of records with the guy: Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, and many more... I miss him, Mr. Misiak was awesome, and he made studying history awesome.
It's a shame Hedgie couldn't get Japanese subtitles for this video, with how many Japanese viewers he apparently has! I'm glad they understood at least the emotions being expressed.
It’s a band that is not famous in Japan Unfortunately, even if I ask 10,000 people, only one person knows it. I'm glad that people from overseas listen to it even if many Japanese don't know… NI N GE N I SU is a heretic, unlike other Japanese musicians. Most of Japanese songs are love songs. However, this band deals with serious and important issues that other bands do not, such as the view of life, religion, morality, and life and death. If you, Holy Angels, do exist in this universe Will you bless me on the cheeks? With my painful effort never paid off I've just been standing in the shadow Will the day come someday when I can fly high in the sky? Will the day come when I can see the sun? Tell me, Holy Angels Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa [x2] If you, Divine Goddess, are staying hidden somewhere Why don't you smile at me on my forehead? I've never tasted the nectar of victory I’ve never succeeded in love Will the day come when I can get intoxicated by the victory? Will the day come when I can embrace love? Tell me, Divine Goddess Shabadabadia Shabadabadia Babababa[x2] Countless stars are twinkling in the sky Every one of us is under them With a thousand wishes in each heart Lululu Lululu… If you, Lord Buddha, really exist in some place Please have mercy on me, too Having nothing precious in my possession Desolated Isolated I've been living my life with a series of failures Will the day come when I can totally be satisfied?
This video is freaking me out... The guy wearing the Weyland shirt is rarely showing any emotion, like an android, but the guy on the right looks like a Weyland android but shows far more emotion...

Metallica should take these guys out on tour. These guys deserve to be heard!!!
I have seen the bassist wearing a Ghost T-shirt a couple of times.. That would be a good a good tour too.
They will never do it ...cause they will outshine CURRENT Metalica. Especially Nobu Nakajima is a GOD compared to Lars Ulrich.

I'm wagering this song in particular is going to be a springboard for Ningen Isu & best wishes to them with there new found fame. There all over 50 y/o so better late than never ;-).
Thanks for this and other quality reactions, one more great band to follow👍
The name of the band was taken from the title of an old Japanese novel by Edogawa Rampo. It’s a weird story about a man’s soul that lives in a chair, feeling the warmth of women that sit on him.
...and now I'm watching you cooking 😁
@@PNW Thank you for watching!!
Yes, that is the album cover. Released on the 5th, on the 6th they're streaming a live in studio performance on UA-cam.
Oh hell yeah Ningen Isu kicks ass!!
whatever you guys came for starts from 3:40
【Pleased news! 】
The official MV comment section is exploding in languages other than Japanese! ^ ^
That bass tone is crushing it!
(erumi36)".
I love there music I'm surprised these folks even could make metal this damn good
There are more riffs, melodies, talent in this song than in MANY 2010's "artists" discography.
Awesome song!!!
Thanks great stuff!
HEARTLESS SCAT (NINGEN ISU Band)
If you, Holy Angels, do exist in this universe
Will you bless me on the cheeks?
With my painful effort never paid off
I've just been standing in the shadow
Will the day come someday when I can fly high in the sky?
Will the day come when I can see the Sun?
Tell me, Holy Angels
Shabadabadia
Shabadabadia
Babababa
Shabadabadia
Shabadabadia
Babababa
If you, Divine Goddess, are staying hidden somewhere
Why don't you smile at me on my forehead?
I've never tasted the nectar of victory
I’ve never succeeded in love
Will the day come when I can get intoxicated by the victory?
Will the day come when I can embrace love?
Tell me, Divine Goddess
Shabadabadia
Shabadabadia
Babababa
Shabadabadia
Shabadabadia
Babababa
Countless stars are twinkling in the sky
Every one of us is under them
With a thousand wishes in each heart
Lululu Lululu
If you, Lord Buddha, really exist in some place
Please have mercy on me, too
Having nothing precious in my possession
Desolated
Isolated
I've been living my life with a series of failures
Will the day come when I can totally be satisfied?
Will the day come when my dreams come true?
Tell me, Lord Buddha
Shabadabadia
Shabadabadia
Babababa

Shine a light on my life
Shine a light on my future
Shine a light on every creature
Shine a light on tomorrow for all
caterpillar is my fav, stargazer cover is awesome too
your comments 100% on the mark , i was laughing when you thought they had finished and then they went overdrive ....
They said they liked Black Sabbath a lot, and after listening to this song, it kind of makes sense.
Of course the technique is good, but the lyrics are better.
Wow, first exposure to this band, and yep, I'm a fan! First thoughts out the gate were reminiscent of Rush. ;-)
That was just great, but what a strange collection of guys.....??? The bass player looks like he was getting ready for a kabuki performance when they called him away, mid makeup, to film the video.
He represents an undead buddhist priest.
Love the lyrics and the bass player's expressions! Oh, and how about a bigger picture of them playing and a smaller picture of you guys nodding.
Nah
React to Onmyouza, such an amazing band also.
Agree!!
Absolutely good shit! Time to use my collected points on CD-Japan, I guess...
ARIGATOU☻
What the hell did I just listen too?! That was frikken wild!
Just FYI, Spotify has 271 tracks, going back to 1991...
It was amazing to find Ningen in spotify as non japanese, life changed forever 🤗
👍👍👍
Blast hearing the solo from 7:54
Ningen Isu has posted the English lyrics on this and 'Namehage'.
I agree it is a great song... but I still prefer Namahage ^_^
New video comes out!

You can understand them well when you find the meaning of the lyrics based on the culture of northern part of Japan. Try !
It’s a band that is not famous in Japan
Unfortunately, even if I ask 10,000 people, only one person knows it.
I'm glad that people from overseas listen to it even if many Japanese don't know…
NI N GE N I SU is a heretic, unlike other Japanese musicians.
Most of Japanese songs are love songs.
However, this band deals with serious and important issues that other bands do not, such as the view of life, religion, morality, and life and death.

Ningen isu official channel send me here.
BAss player is like Darth Vader and Gene Simmons had a baby..... lol.... and Angus called, he wants his guitar back.
And Tony Iomi passes along his blessing for the SG to still be used.
Age is just a number
Voldemort is ALIVE?!
This video is freaking me out... The guy wearing the Weyland shirt is rarely showing any emotion, like an android, but the guy on the right looks like a Weyland android but shows far more emotion...
Though this song is good. Their old albums and stuff are 100 times better and insane than this in my opinion.
behappy929cool Dainamaito and Sabbathrash Sabbath are insanely good!
