I love that Washima is a traditionalist - none of this hammer-fret cheat bullshit. Real guitar hero guitar. I can't get enough. This is a very good performance and very good recording as well.
There was a time in my life where if you told me I would jam out to an ~11 minute song by a Japanese doom metal band, I would have assumed you were on drugs. But jokes on me, because here I am loving every single second of it.
The theremin is hard to master for some (even for the most gifted of musicians) and even harder to incorporate into a certain sound while playing another instrument...yet Wajima does it flawlessly. He truly is an absolutely amazing artist. Much love. ♥
Technically, the hard part is playing it in key, hitting the right notes. In that respect, it's a bit like playing the violin. It has no frets to help you. Using it for atonal effects, such as in this case, is more a matter of taste and practice than musical skill. You want to be able to reproduce the effect at each concert. If you mess it up a bit, no one notices or cares.

Just watched an old live thing by them (clouldn't tell the title, only japanese kanji) - and Jimmi is in there as well, oh, my lord.
