I have always had an affinity for Scotty Cameron putters because of the craftsmanship, the feel, and the appearance of the putter. When something looks good to your eye and feels good it gives one a feeling of comfort and confidence and that is what matters the most with a putter confidence, not price or prestige.
Really good comment - “inspires you to practice” I love SC putters and have a notchback atm but use an EvnRoll ER2 because I just love using it and want to practice with it! Great video as always
Been watching your videos since I first started playing about 4 years ago! Content is next level and I appreciate you thinking out loud! Very insightful stuff!
I recently bought a SC Futura putter. I putt better with it but I put it down to how great the putter feels. I was putting ok with my last putter and tried the SC just to see what the fuss was about. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? To me, yes. I feel confident with it and the feel is just incredible. After just a couple of putts with it, it was coming home with me
on a bad day on the course, even the best fit putter will fell like a hammer in your hand. but if you hole 2 in a row from 15 feet, you will love it. golf is very much based on feelings and emotions. love the scotty mark!
That might actually be one of the best videos about equipment choice that I have seen. A great balance of reference to tech, fitting (and how a really good fitter actually works) and feel. Thanks Mark-I have been watching fewer vlogs recently (vlogged out😁) but I will get watching again I think to see how you enjoy this on the course. Nick
Nice putter Mark, I got a scotty about 2 years ago and love it! Aesthetically liking a club you will use more than any other club (hopefully not too much) is massive. The looks and feel of this putter have definitely given me confidence in its use!
Awhile back someone commented that I had an unusually short backswing. I was using a PING ZING blade for years and somehow developed a popping style stroke (and not very successful.) I switched to a heavier mallet to encourage more of a rhythmic backswing and follow thru resulting in better performance. Now I'm back with a blade and an improved stroke, but I need a backyard like the one you have.
Mark- great stuff, old chap! Putters are one of the top draws to golf for me. I'm currently gaming a Taylormade Ghost Tour Black Daytona 35" and it's very similar to the Newport 2. I'm also trying out a Ping Anser 2 Vault Slate since they invented the bloody thing. That style putter in my mind is "the putter". I used to look at the 8802 style as the main gamer. Mallets are great, but they don't suit my eye. To me, the Daytona feels, sounds, and acts like it looks- a squared up instrument to deliver energy to the ball in an efficient manner to get it in the cup. I buy and sell putters on ebay, and right now I'm selling some Nicklaus Macgregor Repsonse ZT MI 615 putters that Jack Nicklaus used to win the 1986 Masters- it has a huge 6" head and is very cool (modeled after Tom Watson's Ping Pal)! Today's putters are much heavier if you compare to manganese bronze Ping Anser putters. I have several Anser 3's. My final point is that putters are personal. I like the squared off Daytona, Vault Anser 2, and Newport 2 because I feel that they hold the line better. I'm not a fan of rounded-off bumpers of Scottsdale original Ansers or the Jordan Spieth 009 or regular Newport because I feel that they are easier to push right. I really like Dave Stockton's thought of rolling the putt and not hitting the ball. Well, those are some thoughts from an obsessed putter fan- congrats on your putter choice!
That's the Best Looking Scotty I have ever seen, other than the neck because I prefer the slight bend neck. I go back and forth between two older Bulls Eye putters. A Wide Blade, I prefer on Faster Greens, and a 1.25 L blade, similar in shape to a Newport 2.5. The Wide Blade I bought new in 1992, and the 1.25 L I found in a Thrift Shop 2 years ago ($5.00 USD!) This year I put the Golf Pride Contour 104 Grip (Red) on both.
42 years young Mark..23 years of youtubeism to go! I'm the same age..wow that's a lot of tube I'm going to consume! 😄 Putters are just awesome...love testing choosing and playing #lovetheroll
Very interesting, look forward to seeing you out on the course with it. I use a Rife Mr Beasly black putter with a jumbo mid size grip. It feels and looks right for me, took a long time to settle on that and now the rest is up to me. That's the way I see it. All the best.
Great video for those who think Mark’s videos would change when he signed with Titleist. This would have been a good opportunity to say “buy a Scotty Cameron, you’ll putt better.” Instead, he remained unbiased, just like he has for years.
Like the choice you've made Mark!! Wish I could still Game that style but with my anxiety on putting (borderline *ips ) I need a big MOI mallet Bobby Grace number to accommodate the occasional flicks!!!
Once had 9 putters of all types in rotation and did the stats thing over a season to find out which putter performed best for me. Anser-style came out top although I prefer the look of the 8802-style. On my good days I’m a lot better with the 8802 style but on average days the Anser style will always perform better. Currently got a Radius Classic 8 in the bag and hoping for more good days than bad days!!
I game an Old Scotty Detour Putter with the same grip in red, it just gives me confidence over the ball and i putt well with it... Saying that when i am not feeling it. i might aswell be using a hockey stick. :)
For me buying a Scotty was about eliminating mental variables. If I know that my equipment is the best is could be, then the missed putts are all on me. I find that to help.
Good luck with the putter Mark. My son is Scotty Cameron made and I’m always reminding him that you can’t buy a game of golf, I love my Odyssey two ball which I’ve had for many years now, have tried newer ones but always go back my two ball. Now on another note, I have a friend who uses a double sided putter, you know the ones you find on crazy golf parks, probably worth a £1 on a good day, he is without doubt one of the best putters I’ve ever known, so maybe it’s all about the pink wobbly bit at the other end that counts, what do you think?
I played with the older newport2 for a few years. And I've try this new version. I think the insert makes the feedback feeling harder. Which is the main reason newport is so popular
Jay Beuoy yo brah, not lost on most of us, some of us are “edjumacated”, point of interest , am pretty sure John Hancock had a swing as big as his writing!
Thankfully, the second amendment was lost on the way back across the pond. Sorry, that's probably lost on USA crowd. (Is now the right time to talk about it?)
Let the club do the work 😂 That putter looks cool 👍 I like Scotty putter, but too expensive. I bought Wilson putter and change Superstroke counterbalanced grip in that putter. Hole package was 150€ and it also feels great ☺
She's a beauty, I have one very similar. I have several putters but always go back to the Newport 2. Bad thing is that I have had to send it to the custom shop 3 times to get it perfect for me. I do love the black face and shaft....
Good video but that Toe Hang style is more for an arcing type Stroke regardless of distance. It’s harder to putt with a straight back straight thru stroke with that hosel.
I bought a Scotty on EBay then saved all my pennies up and sent it off to Scotty's Custom shop to be customised/pimped. I putt OK with it on a good day and not so OK with it on a bad day but it always looks good even if I don't ;)
I run a Scotty (bought it used) and I love it. I use to use a Ping B60. I loved the shape but it was too long and a bit too light. I never liked the grips hardness either. I tried a ton of putters he local golf shop was getting a bit upset with me due to all the time trying putters (months) trying to find the right comfortable fit. I never tried the Cameron due to its price. It wasn't till I tried it, did that fit. Do I still 3 putt way too much eh YEA, but every time I get behind it it feels like I'm going to hole it. The putter feels and looks the way I want it too. Would I like another one? That's a good question......maybe. The thing is I am attached to my putter and still have tried many since I bought my Scotty and still I like the one I have. The black does look stunning! Cheers Brah!
Hi Mark nice putter question though when choosing a putter should you be using the ball your going to putt with or does it not matter as I’ve recently changed to a Taylor made ball and my putts feel different of the face
I watched this video this morning and loved the look of your putter Mark. I had a studio select before and sold it for a TM copper and white color but for some reason I just missed the Scotty, so I stopped by the golf store this afternoon and what do you know a Custom Shop Select Newport 2 with blue righting and 🔵🔵🔵. So hey Merry Christmas 🎁 to me. Cheers 🍻, and thanks for the inspiration.
Not sure that ended the way you intended 😳 It’s a lovely looking putter and if I had money to burn I would buy golf clubs all day. I love my current putter, I feel confident with it and I think that is nine tenths of the story. If a £10 donnay special gave me confidence then I would use it. Having said that, you do get a lot of the same feeling from association with a brand. You know it is a luxury brand and therefore you gain some confidence, then the rest is up to you and your technique
Got a question for a Scotty Cameron aficionado... About 12-15yrs ago while playing a round w/ my grandpa I tried 1 of his friends Scotty Cameron. From what I remember of the club it was a traditional blade style putter, it had a tan grip & a black club head (or putter head). The distinguishing feature that I remember is the weight of the club wasn’t balanced at all. The putter face or club head was much heavier, making the putter noticeably bottom heavy. I’ve used several Scotty Cameron’s & owned a couple since then, but never had one that felt like that. My question is, is there a Scotty Cameron model that’s produced regularly that’s known for having a heavier putter head like that, or was it just that years club? I really loved the feel of that putter
Bobby Munchel ... tbh I have no clue if it was a Newport or what model it was. I’m not an aficionado at all when it comes to Cameron’s & I know there’s a lot of different models. From pics I’ve looked at online, & the fuzzy recollection I have from 15yrs ago it does look a lot like the Del Mar models. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll start looking & researching those models. Do you know, have any of the Del Mar models traditionally had a heavier club head year in & out like I felt w/ the model I tried back then? I know w/ a lot of Cameron’s you can add weights to change the weight of the club, but did they have those weights or use those 15+yrs ago? From what I recall it seemed like the club was naturally blade heavy. I don’t remember seeing weights or places for adjustments on the heel or toe on the bottom of the club, but who knows, it’s been so long I could just be forgetting about seeing them.
Bobby Munchel ... also from some pics & eBay listings I’ve looked at the Scotty Cameron studio design w/ the black blade finish looks a lot like I remember the club I tried. Especially that shape of the putter face that a lot of the studio design putters have. Do you know if the older models of those were blade heavy?
Tried Scotty putters when I bought Ping anser redwood did not like the feel as much as Ping or itsy bitsy spider and bought ping on looks. That new Scotty of yours looks so good I would not care what it felt like, it would make any bag better looking.
Love the look of the putter....how's it going on the course? Is there any chance you could do a vlog in how you check your alignment (especially target line and the upper body) as I'm struggling with feet on target but shoulders more right of target(open) causing 'pull' to target line or 'push' to the right? Cheers brah!
Maybe it's just me but I'm not enamoured with that putter. It's all comes down to personal choice but I am interested in getting the correct fit for lie angle.would a mainstream high street golf outlet be able to fit a putter ie length of shaft, lie angle, grip width or is it a specialist fitting centre job? Regards Mark
In the USA, most decent golf stores have the ability to fit you for shaft length, lie angle and loft. They can then bend the putter to your specs. They can also change out the grip to something else if you want. If you want a proper fitting, with a SAM putt lab, then go to a specialist. Just doing a putter fitting fitting is usually not that expensive, but that's just my experience.
Awesome putter Mark. Can you comment on head weight and it's effect on your stroke. Is this putter's head weight more or less than your old gamer? When you had the putter lengthened, did you remove or add head weight to adjust swing weight? Does it even matter?
Love the look of your putter Mark, what is the length? Also I noticed no weights? And was the video supposed to cut off at the end? I was enjoying watching you put. Btw I’d love more putting vlogs is the part of my game I always struggle. Like I get into a grove of feeling good about my stroke in practice or on course , but then lose the feel. Any tips on finding it again?
I do like the look of your putter Mark. Rather jealous actually. I am happy with my putter, but if I had the money sitting around I'd definitely get a custom Scotty as well.
"go on then - get it in the hole" - I've talked to my putter over the years too and it has responded the same way yours did - dumb putter!!!! - LOL great video thanks
My 2 favorite putters I have for gaming are my 2020 Scotty Select Newport and my Toulon Austin (steel shaft) my Old Gamer (just outdated feel) is my Ping Scottsdale Anser
Vid ended a bit before the end? Nice Putter, though I Luuuurve my Bettinardi, as you say, liking what you use is one thing, but does for me create confidence and helps a lot, and some times not😁
Hi mark I love your putter I have the same one though not in black. What length do you play? and is that white lettering and 3 dots or is it a light grey in color
Hi Mark, you mention that you went back to the bladed putter from your tournemont days - what made you go to the odyssey putter in the first place? Cheers brah!
did your video not fully upload? seemed to cut short i like to feel confident when looking at my putter and since getting taylormade spider last year i feel like im going to make putts within 10 yards
Mark, was there any way to get a prior model from SC? The old Newport 2013 had more rounded edges but there was no sight line or dot on the top. I’m assuming not, since Titleist would likely want you to game their newest sticks.
I have always had an affinity for Scotty Cameron putters because of the craftsmanship, the feel, and the appearance of the putter. When something looks good to your eye and feels good it gives one a feeling of comfort and confidence and that is what matters the most with a putter confidence, not price or prestige.
I ordered a Custom Shop putter several years ago. Absolutely love it. Its beautiful and inspires confidence on the greens. Great video
Taylormade censored the end !
Really good comment - “inspires you to practice” I love SC putters and have a notchback atm but use an EvnRoll ER2 because I just love using it and want to practice with it! Great video as always
Thank you for all you do for us average golfers and the children's hospital. World class guy
Always lovely to have a new putter in the bag!
I think we can all agree at this point, the Ping Anser is the most influential putter of all time.
Feel is important as it breeds confidence.
What happened to the ending?
Been watching your videos since I first started playing about 4 years ago! Content is next level and I appreciate you thinking out loud! Very insightful stuff!

Loving the black shaft
Very interesting, look forward to seeing you out on the course with it. I use a Rife Mr Beasly black putter with a jumbo mid size grip. It feels and looks right for me, took a long time to settle on that and now the rest is up to me. That's the way I see it. All the best.
That putter is a piece of art. You have great taste mark.
Gorgeous putter. Love your explanation of how you choose, really helps.
Very nice looking putter mark! Looking forward to you sinking more putts on course vlogs. Coach will love that

Great video Mark with a very important message...... we all want to buy talent!
Beautiful club Mark love the color contrast and personalization of it very nice.
Really great video Mark to get your insight into why you went back to the shape you love! It is an amazing looking putter too by the way :-)!!
I game an Old Scotty Detour Putter with the same grip in red, it just gives me confidence over the ball and i putt well with it... Saying that when i am not feeling it. i might aswell be using a hockey stick. :)

love that putter look soooo goood im getting a scotty cameron newport 2016 and cant wait.
i thought I did see your putter move a little when you asked it to put ball in hole. give it another go.
Good luck with the putter Mark. My son is Scotty Cameron made and I’m always reminding him that you can’t buy a game of golf, I love my Odyssey two ball which I’ve had for many years now, have tried newer ones but always go back my two ball.

I agree with you a nice feeling putter makes you feel more confident but you still have to like all golf shots have a good technique and practice.
That putter is stunning😍
I hope you putter feels as good as it looks, Mark. Must be great to have a customised (Tailor-Made) putter. By the way, I love and play Scottys too.
I played with the older newport2 for a few years. And I've try this new version. I think the insert makes the feedback feeling harder. Which is the main reason newport is so popular
Putters don't hole putts. People do! Second amendment of golf. Sorry, that's probably lost on UK crowd.
Amen brother
Jay Beuoy yo brah, not lost on most of us, some of us are “edjumacated”, point of interest , am pretty sure John Hancock had a swing as big as his writing!
I'm never sure what makes it across the pond.
Thankfully, the second amendment was lost on the way back across the pond. Sorry, that's probably lost on USA crowd.
(Is now the right time to talk about it?)
Stephen Wallace , they would probably fight harder to keep their guns rather than their putters if they had to make a choice ???
That’s one SEXY putter! I game the Newport Select because I love the way it looks and feels and that gives me an edge.
Let the club do the work 😂 That putter looks cool 👍 I like Scotty putter, but too expensive. I bought Wilson putter and change Superstroke counterbalanced grip in that putter. Hole package was 150€ and it also feels great ☺
Very smart Mark, love the black/white contrast!
She's a beauty, I have one very similar. I have several putters but always go back to the Newport 2. Bad thing is that I have had to send it to the custom shop 3 times to get it perfect for me. I do love the black face and shaft....
Great putter, had an old Newport 2, loved it.... need a new putter, will have to check it out. $375 ouch!
Beautiful club!! I might need this for a "birthday my present" soon!
G'Day Mark, ... putter goes nicely down the line.....as they say.....different strokes for ...different Folks !......all good Bruh !
Wondered when the new Scotty was going to get talked about - Let’s see if the changes work - could be an interesting 2018 vlog year.
Nice putter Mark. Thing is I'm addicted to my Ping Anser Redwood. But I'd like my initials stamped on mine too. That I'll have to look into!!
Nice putter! I like the black/white theme.
I love it, if I could afford it I'd so get that exact putter... Looking good!
Look and feel is everything.
You’re my favorite mark! Keep up the great attitude!
Nice putter and great points. I would like your thoughts on blade putters versus mallet putters. MOI pluses and minuses things of that nature.
that is an awesome looking putter bruh.
Hi Mark nice putter question though when choosing a putter should you be using the ball your going to putt with or does it not matter as I’ve recently changed to a Taylor made ball and my putts feel different of the face
Looks like you chopped the end of it off. I’m intrigued as to what your response is.
Got a question for a Scotty Cameron aficionado...
About 12-15yrs ago while playing a round w/ my grandpa I tried 1 of his friends Scotty Cameron. Tried Scotty putters when I bought Ping anser redwood did not like the feel as much as Ping or itsy bitsy spider and bought ping on looks. That new Scotty of yours looks so good I would not care what it felt like, it would make any bag better looking.
Missing the end of the video Mark, beautiful putter mate
That putter is gorgeous! I hope u putt as well with it as she looks mark;) congrats on the new flatstick sir
It's gorgeous!!! Wow. I want one!
Love the look of the putter....how's it going on the course? Is there any chance you could do a vlog in how you check your alignment (especially target line and the upper body) as I'm struggling with feet on target but shoulders more right of target(open) causing 'pull' to target line or 'push' to the right? Can I Ask.. you went on about loving the Shape of the NEWPORT in all your other video reviews.. hat made you go for the NEWPORT 2?
90% of making putts is believing you can make it. A putter that you have confidence in gives you a big boost in that.
Great looking putters hope to see you hole a few more on your course vlogs as you were struggling a bit lately
I have the same putter, although not as nice as yours. It's performing well! Good luck next season.
I do like the look of your putter Mark. Rather jealous actually. I am happy with my putter, but if I had the money sitting around I'd definitely get a custom Scotty as well.
Did you get to dial this in at all using the software upgrade on the GCQuad? Excited to see the software (and putter) in action!
Great putter , enjoy Mark .. love the custom shaft 😉🏌️⛳️🍻
"go on then - get it in the hole" - I've talked to my putter over the years too and it has responded the same way yours did - dumb putter!!!! - LOL great video thanks
Beautiful looking putter! Video cut out early for me as well though!
My 2 favorite putters I have for gaming are my 2020 Scotty Select Newport and my Toulon Austin (steel shaft) my Old Gamer (just outdated feel) is my Ping Scottsdale Anser
Do you notice a difference in the hosel ? I miss with plumber necks but flow necks go where i look.
I took an early lunch break to watch this.
Hi Mark, you mention that you went back to the bladed putter from your tournemont days - what made you go to the odyssey putter in the first place? Cheers brah!
Nice vid. Enjoy my scotty np2 - love custom paint / stamping but bit OTT in cost from uk really
Nice looking putter!
Nice looking putter Mark. Just been to the Zen Studio at Rotherham for a putting seminar, very interesting. Have you ever tested Zen putters?
did your video not fully upload? seemed to cut short
i like to feel confident when looking at my putter and since getting taylormade spider last year i feel like im going to make putts within 10 yards
hahahahaha when you put the putter on the ground and told it to make the putt i actually started laughing at my computer lol
Mark, was there any way to get a prior model from SC? The old Newport 2013 had more rounded edges but there was no sight line or dot on the top. I’m assuming not, since Titleist would likely want you to game their newest sticks.
Great vid brah. Stroke is looking good. 👍⛳
I want to know the Price difference between yours and the stock version. I have always wanted to know the difference
Quick question: why did you switch to the round head instead of sticking with the straighter head?
Hi mark, in your full scotty review you said you preferred the curved newport to the more straight edged newport 2. What’s changed?
