In this video, I took a 2016 Newport, and had a ton of custom work done to it. I love the look of Scotties Tour putters, but dropping $1000s on a putter is not something I'm willing to do. So I created the closest design I could minus the actual Circle T logos. And I love it!

I will be posting my 1000 subscriber giveaway video soon! Putters, golf balls and more!!!
You are absolutely meticulous in your work sir. If I find a Cameron putter that needs restored and customized, it will be sent in the mail to you. Wow is all I can say!
Thanks a lot! Email me anytime.
WOW that thing is beautiful, love the copper insert, grate work 👌👌👌
Thanks a lot!
You are so close to getting this perfect. What I do is preserve the shine of the bombs by protecting them with a dab of hot glue. During blasting it is preserved. Then instead of paint fill I use a machinist dye called Dykem. Scotty did the same thing back in the day. It really looks awesome and pays homage to Tigers beautiful red cherry bomb.
That's a good idea! But I don't see Dykem being very durable, but I guess you never know. Also, the Tamiya translucent paints I'm using I'm pretty sure are nearly identical to the ones Scotty uses. May do a classic red one in the future.
@@igolf906 yes! I noticed they do a good job of being translucent i thought maybe you were adding a dab of acetone to help with that, with the flow anyway. Supreme work though! Love your results!
@@oatechaosincycles that's isopropyl alcohol I add before paintfill the dots. It helps with flow, bubbles, and keeps it glossy.
Looks good, an all blacked out with orange would look pretty sweet with the black shaft and grip!!!! Good Job
For sure!
Excellent choice of color! That blue looks awesome!
Thank you!
excellent work you love the craft obviously~ Love the blue paint !!
Thanks!
Very nice brother. Just found the channel. Great work. I couldn't imagine the hours spent on this project! Cheers
A ton actually. 😅 because I wanted to test out a much brighter bead blast finish. I remember hand sanding before blasting for 2 days haha.
That is an absolutely beautiful putter! Nice work
Thank you!
That company you sent it to did fantastic work filling and re milling the face! You mightve sold me on buying a used beat up scotty now...
Great job, thank you for shared this adventure
Thank you! I have a few more cool projects coming soon also!
Swweeeet! Copper insert is a great idea and touch!
Workmanship on another level. Great video production as well
Thanks for that. I'm really working on improving everything, still so, I appreciate it
Another fantastic finished product, great work, thank for vids,.
Beautiful! This would make my 3-putting more tolerable! 😂
Hey, if you're a bad putter, may as well look good doing it 🤷♂️ lol. But like i tell everyone, it's almost proven that the more you "like" your putter personally, the more confidence it can give you. Could equate to more made putts.
@@igolf906 you might be on to something there. I have a new Wedge that I love and will bet money it’s raised my short game to a new level. Thx!
Love your videos, man! Do you ever put any kind of 3M tape behind the insert for softening the feel?
For my personal putters with Inserts no, I don't like tape behind them. The copper to me, is perfect by itself. No need for dampening. But I do put tape in for customer putters.
Yes please, WOW!!!
I love it... Subscribed!
Thanks!

@@igolf906 Sounds good, I have the original Blue Goose Ray Cook 1980's putter that Scotty Cameron designed. I could REALLY use an upgrade.
Absolutely amazing workmanship!! Would love to send you mine for some work!!
So awesome 👏🏼
Thank you!
Stunning
Thanks!
WOW!! Amazing job!
Thanks a lot!
Great work!
Which paint was you using for the 3 dots, and where did you find the little squeeze bottle to put the paint in?
Check the description. The main translucent paints I use are listed in there. Also I use custom tipped squeeze bottles from Gaunt Industries.
Beautiful! I have the same putter how much would it cost to get you to do the same job to it?!?! Love the channel!
Honestly this is probably a one off for me. This putter with the shaft and grip cost me around $640. And that's just cost. Between cleaning up and flattening out the filled sightline, and the high bright Satin finish took days of hand sanding. Something I couldn't possibly do, and charge for someone else. Ive done some similar that aren't super high cost, just depends on what else you'd like done.
Really nice work , came out awesome .
Thank you!!
Great video!
I looked through the description at all the supplies, but didnt see the paint squeeze bottle with needle tip. Where did you get it? Did you just put the Testors paint in it?
Also what was the brush or tool you used for the letters on the sole?
Gaunt Industries for custom paint bottles. And that was just a tiny plastic bristle paint brush.
It's by far the best finish out of all of the putters I've seen you do!
That's just badass!
Is this your personal putter, or one you finished for a customer?
It's really friggin SWEET!!!
Thank you!! This is my personal putter. Figured I'd use it to experiment with a new finish and Im glad I did. Took hours of hand sanding but. Worth it.
Do you find that weight is reduced with all the initial sanding?
A typical restore usually results in about a 3 to 5 gram loss in weight. This project wasn't bad because there was quite a bit of adding welding and whatnot.
SWEET
Gorgeous
Thank you!
FANTASTIC made. The blue filler that you use, is that epoxy glue with paint or what do you use for the colour?
I just add a small layer of isopropyl alcohol before I add the paintfill
What is it you are doing with the q-tip before dropping the paint in the circles? Does it have some acetone on it? What is that doing? I'm about to do mine tomorrow so just wanted to make sure I did that right, thanks!
I'm putting a thin layer of alcohol in them so the paint flows better.
That's really nice job. Where do you buy the fill paint. If you don't mind.
Check the description. Everything I use should be listed in there. I update it with any new video and items used
Would you be able to use a dremmal to sand down any dings on the top line?
It's possible but, once all the dings are out it's going to take a lot of hand sanding to get it back to flat and smooth.
The cavity on this where I used the dremel took me a few days, and many hours of hand sanding to get it near perfect.
what type of grinder and pad are you using? and is there a compound you put on the disc like a cream of some sort? thanks!
Check my newest videos descriptions for updated equipment links. The grinder I use or similar, and the wheels. And no, these wheels don't require any compound.
What is the paint/gel you put in the back? Looking at filling mine green
It's tamiya. Check my video description there's a link for the main translucent colors.
Hello, how did you make insert look copper.Did you replace with copper insert? Thanks
I dabbled with copper plating awhile back but this is a solid copper insert.
@@igolf906 wow, thanks for quick response .God bless
If you had torched the putter head to a bronze, would you be able polish the cavity dots back to a chrome finish? And if so, would you do it like you had done it in this video??
To be honest, if I were to build another putter, I would do A LOT of things differently. I just sort of winged this build, and I do have hopes of building a more modern style putter in the future but, the more research I do the more intricate, and out of reach it seems. Well see.
I’m saying hypothetically, you torched this putter head to a bronze finish. Including the cavity dots on the back. But you want the cavity dots to have that chrome tour look finish, would you be able to Dremel polish the torched cavity dots back to a chrome finish?
@gabrielnevala3987 sorry. I responded thinking it was to a different video. But yes you should be able to bring the dots back to a silver polish. Never really had to do that so im not 100%. As long as you're using a soft buffing wheel and some compound I don't see why not
Very nice work
Thank you!
Looks great! After sanding do you put something on to keep it from rusting?
Thank you! It's stainless steel. So no need to put on any type of top coat for this finish.
I was wondering if you could help me out, I have a 2023 Scotty SUPER SELECT Newport 2+ and the finish where the dots are is raw (I think) and I want to make them translucent black! Do I need to polish those dot cavities before I paint them? Thank you so much!
I don't think you would have to depending on the type of paint you're using. But it definitely would make if stand out a little better. I would just make sure they are clean, and paintfill with a good translucent paint.
@@igolf906 Thank you so much!
I seem to get a couple tiny air bubbles in my paint fill. Any tips to prevent this?
Put a small film of mineral spirits in the dots prior to filling. You can also use a small butane or propane torch to quickly get the bubbles out.
You make this look so easy! I want to paint fill my Newport, but don't want to screw it up
Paintfill is easy on these. Just take your time. If you screw up, acetone is your friend. Just take it off and try again.
@@igolf906 ok sweet! I’ll give it a try this weekend

You could tell us what you are using to soak the putter in etc
It's acetone. Feel free to ask questions.
wow love this putter, is it possible to purchase it? if it is available. Or could you make same one? Thanks.
Thanks. This one is not available. If interested in getting some work done, shoot me an email.
so good.
Thank you!
Good Job, You have great skills and patience, how many did you trial before this one ie practice on.
Thanks! For this particular finish and style it's my first. This was a project for me, so if I messed up, it wouldn't be a big deal.
Where do you get that paint from? Ive been looking for one that looks exactly like that but in green
Nevermind I'm a dummy, thanks for linking everything
Watched all of your videos and am a subscriber. How do you get your paint to look translucent? Thanks
It's actually Translucent paint. Check my description there should be a link in there to the type of paint I use for this.
Unreal work, do they tig to fill the lettering and sight line??
Yes they do! In the near future I will be able to do this type of work myself, minus the milling of the sightline. I will be able to weld fill top lines, soles and bumper logos and grind them smooth.
Do you take a weight before deburring and the milling? Just curious what the weight change was.
The average restore takes about 3 to 5 grams. This particular putter there was a lot of filled areas so the difference was miniscule.
Great video again. Can I ask what grind wheel you use to get the nicks out?
They're deburring wheels. Check my description for where to get them.
@igolf906 Great thanks 😊
Good job, how does the copper feel compared to the original insert?
I love it personally. I had an old Slotline putter I would mess around with in the shop, and that has a copper insert and feels great as well. Just perfectly soft, but still has that nice click off the face.
looks awesome! what did you put down just before the paint fill to give it that look?
I small film of Isopropyl alcohol. It lets the paint fill smoothly and stay bubble free and glossy! Kind of a trick to do it quite right but it works great!
I need this putter in my life. This thing is 🔥
Did you use the Tamiya Translucent paint on every blue paint fill on the putter?
I did yes!
On the recommended convolute wheels you list - do you use 5P or 9P hardness?
I've tried them both. But the higher hardness the wheel the longer they last I feel so. I go with the 9
@@igolf906 thank you! I appreciate the advice
How long do you let the paint dry before wiping
I like to wait at least an hour. Times vary though
Can I ask if you know what color Testors blue is closest to the Tamiya translucent blue? Looking to do some paintfill on a black and silver putter and I would need regular testors on the black part as translucent would come out too dark
I couldn't really compare them but I would start with their standard blue. It's probably the closest. Their colors are mostly pretty basic so look at the light blue, blue & dark blue.
love the content you make! what type of grind wheel do you use, I have just been using a ton of elbow grease to restore some clubs.
Thank you! It's a Convolute wheel for a bench grinder. Check my description for where to purchase them. Definite time savers!
What kinda of grid is it on the spinning wheel you use to do the most correction with? =D
It's a convolute/deburring wheel. 240 grit. Check my descriptions for links for the items I use.
Good effort….but one thing to point out. The copper face protrudes as you’ve skimmed the original face down a bit. If you fit a new insert mill it whilst fitted so it’s perfectly flat
I milled it with the original insert, but decided to get a copper one for it in the middle of the project. This putter is my personal gamer so, I didn't bother remilling it. I may in the future but, it has zero impact on putting performance so, wasn't worried about it right away.
Do you ever put anything behind the face to replace that glue that is there?? Does the face vibrate or rattle without any material behind it??
I do put double sided tape back in there, but from what I heard and seen, it's not really needed.
What effect does swabbing acetone on the cherry bomb parts have before adding the paint fill? Great job on this by the way!
It's actually isopropyl alcohol. It creates a film for the paint to flow into the cavities really nicely. Also keeps it bubble free and glossy.
Any tips on making a custom plumbers neck ?
Can't really help much there. If you have a good welder I guess anything can be done. Just need to have the right size fittings for everything to match whatever shaft your puting in
What type of wheel are you using to remove dings and scratches?
Check the description. Everything I use is listed in there
Where do you order your copper inserts from?
Putters4Pitbulls
What grit or name is the wheel you use at the 2:30 spot while grinding down the top of the head? Big fan of your videos!
They're fine convolute wheels. Check my description for where to get them
does the paint last after you have used it?
The paintfill you mean? Yes. It lasts a long time, especially if you take care of your putters, and use a headcover.
@@igolf906 ok thank you
Awesome job! What grit was the grinding wheel that did that magic scratching removing lol
It's a Fine grade convolute wheel. Check my description for where to buy! They're awesome tools! The ones I use to use were in grit and they were around 320-400 grit. That's probably the equivalent to the FINE
dang looks like alot of work went into this one and it shows! awesome job! love the ending too! also cant wait for the GIVEAWAY! good luck on the 1000 subs

How’d you do the insert??
It was custom milled by Putters4Pitbulls.
Where are you getting the shrink wrap for the putter shafts?
This particular putter wasn't wrapped. It's a KBS Tour putter shaft. But in the beginning I used just standard rubber shrink tubing you can get at hardware stores. Then I Cerakoted them for awhile, now recently I've been using ShaftWraps.
@igolf906 thank you, love your videos
How often do you have to change one of the pads on your buffer/bench grinder?
I can do maybe 4 - 6 putters with a wheel.
@@igolf906 Thanks!
Have you ever used the Tamiya translucent orange paint? I'd like to do mine in orange but from pictures I've seen it seems more yellow than orange, just wondered if you had any experience with it

@@igolf906 Oh ok, not recommender to “paint” or dye de existing silver insert ? Try to see but cant find any topic about it, for small insert “easy” to custom make copper but for a Fastback for example it will be hard
@rdalmasso7326 The Fastbacks with the one piece sole and insert I've never seen replacements for. And as far as dying. They're aluminum so the best you could do is get the black aluminum dye. Otherwise Cerakote but that's an entire process and will be costly.

It was weld filled and milled smooth
@@igolf906 nice! what material did you use for the weld fill?
what do you use to remove the paint that wont hurt the club ? mines a new NP 2 but want to change the colors and not the sheen of the metal
It's pure acetone. Can get it at nearly any hardware store. It's a strong solvent that eats away at paints and adhesives. But won't touch your NP. As long as it's factory and doesn't have some type of aftermarket finish. But even then, usually it's safe.
@@igolf906 yeah its factory.. i wanted to send it in to get paint changed to blue but why when i can do it myself lol

@@igolf906 do you strip the existing color out? Or just paint over? Also something like testers matte for that one? Or still using Tamiya ?
@mikecaldwell6845 I used testors. And no, the existing fill was white other than the center Scotty Cameron so didn't worry about it. The few people I've seen do this have scraped the paint out but, I wasn't about to spend 6 hours on a grip. Lol

@@mikecaldwell6845 Thanks. And no problem. My new custom "Tour Style" gamer is almost finished. Should be posting the video within the week
Would you ever do one for a fan if we paid you?
It all depends on the work the needs to be done and the model putter. I don't offer filling the flange sightline though.
Beautiful, I love the insert and the blue. Just a thought, will it not oxidise as you’ve taken the protective coat off with the sanding or have you clear coated / protected it? Thanks for the content, great seeing such a work of art.
These putters are stainless steel. They have no coating from the factory so, will be just fine as is!
I refurbed my friends scotty. It was the first time I tried a full restore. 2 days later the pitting left on bottom developed rust. If it was stainless steel it would not rust like that correct? I'm assuming is a fake scotty
The first thing that comes to mind is what was the final grit used during your refurbishing? If it wasn’t very high, say 2000 grit, you could have left very fine scratches that allows moisture to accumulate. All metal will rust but you can control the rate via your process.
First off great job on this putter! It turned out great! Question? The initial weight I would presume is around 350g, what is the final weight after the re milling and sanding?
Thank you! Most Newports come out to between 340 & 350 grams with the weights. All depends on the shaft length that's ordered for what weights you receive. But I weighed my head afterwards and without the weights was 318. I had two 10 gram weights so my total is 338 grams. I could add heavier weights to bring it back to around 340-350 but I actually prefer a slightly lighter head. I might even try out some 5 gram weights.
My Brother. Please please please purchase a small linishing belt sander. It will allow you to smooth sand the bottom without the awful gouges and hollows left behind by your cheer arse grinding wheel. Please try it once. Also a cheap bench mounted disc sander will raise your finish level to Pro. Please try it. You will love it. I promise.
On no restore I've ever done has my convolute wheel left gouges. Not sure what your speaking to. And I've had a custom made 2x72 belt sander before. As it would be a little useful at times, it's not needed. The convolute wheels I use are soft. From 220 to 600 grit.
Mate I went back and watched the vid again. The wheel left slight concavities that show up in the light as you roll the putter head. I call those gouges. But I love your vids and love your passion for the restoration process. Cheers bloke.@@igolf906
