  • ABC soup stands for the many vitamins contained therein which is even very easy to prepare and rich in vegetables. This is perfectly vegan-friendly and can be part of your daily diet.
    www.nyonyacook...
ABC soup is just one of the many nutritious Chinese soups. It consists of a number of vegetables like carrots, tomatoes, maize, potatoes and onions. To get the most of the nutritional values out of these vegetables, it is simmered under low heat for a long period of time. Do not worry that the vegetables might be mushy when the soup is ready. Only the onions will be extremely soft. The vegetables can be taken together with the soup.
As the name suggests, preparing this soup is really easy. Why not try this wholesome and marvelous soup to go with your meals?

Yes of course. However, I personally feel chinese soups are best when they are cooked for a long time. The taste my differ a little. If you are rushing for time, a pressure cooker will work fine :)

I like to boil my soup for about 3 hours. The soup tastes much sweeter like that. But minimum of 1.5 hours should be fine too.

People always use chicken in the recipe, but my family uses beef soup bones! the taste is greatly enhanced, and the soup tastes so much better : )
We also boil it for 6 hours, you may think it's a bit excessive but the flavours really simmer in better. ABC soups is definitely one of my favourites, so just thought I would share some quick tips! < 3

Yea but I would recommend dried anchovies, as shown in the video. Because this soup would be boiling for quite some time, fish will tend to over cook. Or else, just skip the meat because this soup tastes good with just vegetables. Good luck!

my mom made something like this but used oxtails instead of chicken and added ketchup. i'm not sure if that was something completely different but it was so delicious with white rice and soy sauce.

It is ok to add the chicken first but in soup, it doesn't make any difference. Just throw all inside and you would want your soup to have the sweetness from the vegetables too. ;)

Actually, I am Chinese from Malaysia. I was just representing my own community. It's very tricky because in Malaysia, we still like to identify the races individually. :) Anyway, thanks for your support! ^^
