- As always, this was my favourite video of the year to make! Love getting the full list of excellent national final eliminated songs put together and sharing them with you all.
Hopefully, you'll share your tops with me too. Or, just comment on the songs I've included in mine. I really don't mind!
I am also working with a shorter clip time for my non-comment videos. It's basically just that the vast majority of my viewers seem to be familiar with the songs already, so not point in dragging out the reveals! Let me know what you think!

Also, this is a very early top 50 for me, so I might make changes later. For now, this is my honest top 50 ranking of the best national final eliminated songs. I tried my best!
As suspected, there seems to have been a glitching issue on one section of the video, that only showed up in post.
I am NOT fixing it now. XD
Shower is VERY underappreciated. Intelligent lyrics and arrangement, too avantgarde for Eurovision tho (the blandest the song the better: this is the unspoken main esc rule)
I was just glad that it didn't get underappreciated in the final itself!
The jury win was a nice (and deserved) surprise and getting second in the televote to a majorly-hyped song showed what a competitive Eurovision package "Impossible" could have been.
Love the "Impossible" appreciation! It's so underrated by the fandom. I've also done a Top 50 (actually Top 52, because I ranked all songs I had rated over 8.0/10), but that'd be too long of a comment so I'll leave my Top 15 here.

So yeah, I have some of your favourites high up, so mild agreement! Also, really glad to see "Go Tobann" there, as well. I didn't recall you liking it that much!
Your top 15 is actually incredibly tasteful. They are all songs I either had in my list or that I rated highly enough that they would be in my Top 75. All of them are 7.0+, with the only exception probably being Tsunamia, which, and I'll double-check, I've probably got ranked around 6.0.
I always felt like Go Tobann was the second best choice in Ireland and wasn't that far off the winner. Since I like the winner quite a bit, it made sense for it to be ranked quite highly here, too.
So interesting to see other candidates from different countries. Thanks for this summary. I agree with your choice and found definitely new songs for my playlist☀️!

We actually seem to have quite a few crossovers between our lists and you also have a few that I would definitely have liked to have found room for. Casa Portuguesa, Kur, Novo Bolje and El Temps are all particularly good choices. ^^

Anyway, I am not a fan of every single song in your top, but I still really love how diverse it is and also, the fact that all songs included have decent quality at least (except 'Babaroga' lol).
By the way, judging by your intro I suppose your favourites of Eurovision 2024 are Croatia, Norway & Serbia? *I have the exact same top 3!* These songs are the only ones which sound like winners to me. Praying one of them wins. 🙏
Haha....do you know what the funny thing is? I didn't even realise that I had put opening songs that where at the top of my ranking. I went through the National Final Performance videos of the Official Eurovision YT, and just picked the three that were the most likely to do well in the contest. XD
But yeah, all three of the songs I picked are in my top five.
@kaleproject3495 Ok, maybe not same top 3, but we agree that all of them are Eurovision winning material, right (regardless of televote/jury preferences)?
@@dimidrugg9592 Yeah, they're three of the songs that I see having a path to victory. Obviously, Croatia is a strong candidate for a televote win. Serbia could win the jury and still do well with the televote. Norway could surprise in both.
It's a really open contest this year.
@kaleproject3495 Good to know I'm not crazy. Seeing Norway & Serbia so low in the odds baffles me.
The hype around Ukraine & Italy worries me actually. Both won very recently and I do not want to see them again at the top.
Also I can see the Netherlands pull a Norway 2023 and get a surprise top 5 result. The song has gone viral since its release.
About Switzerland: I really like the song, but I find it overhyped. It is too experimental to be a winner and those vocal notes will be very hard to hit live.
To close, I think France, Sweden & Belgium are potential jury winners under certain circumstances.
@@dimidrugg9592 I'm not so worried about Ukraine. I feel their chances are being inflated artificially, similar to Malta 2021. There's very little actual buzz about their entry. Italy, on the other hand, always goes under the radar before the contest and then does much better than people expect. They could be a potential compromise winner between televote and jury if nothing is unanimous.
Netherlands will probably get slaughtered by juries, but I could foresee an In Corpore Sano type televote score for it. Again, if points go a certain way elsewhere, it could get close to the top five.
Switzerland will need a lot of jury appreciation in the final because, I don't think it's the most accessible song for the Saturday Night televoting crowd. Almost everyone I know who likes it (including me) weren't sure what to make of it on first listen but it got better with further listens. That makes something a good song, but not necessarily a good Eurovision result.
France seems in the running to win the jury. The vocals are very impressive and it is a solid composition. Sweden shouldn't be, but they will be because Sweden. Belgium, on the other hand, might go either way with juries. I'm not a huge fan of the song and I do wonder if it'll get lost a bit. It takes a LONG TIME to get to the point.

Controversial opinion maybe, but I really did think of it as a potential jury winner at Eurovision...and Lithuania always do somewhat well in the televote so....

Some of the ones that you mentioned were close to making the list. Oblivion in Estonia was actually my no.51! No Dog On A Leash, Undream You, Kur, Pelas Costuras were all rated highly for me but it was a competitive cut-off in the end.
I love Bedem, duga je noc and Go Tobann. Unfortunately, last two weren't good in live
I'm not somebody who really makes a lot of movement based on live performances. I listen to most of the songs on my headphones almost all the time, so yeah, they're good songs. :3

What is your opinion on witcher tarohoro?
I haven't listened to ALL the songs in the Polish internal selection yet, so I don't know if it would've been the best, but I definitely think it's a stronger entry than "The Tower".

Wild Wild West should have joined the party in Malmo
It was one of the good songs in a strong (by their standards) national selection in Iceland. It really does get better and better each time you listen to it.

All in all, still the worst national final decision of the season for me. Iceland might run it close, but similar levels of potential given up for borderline NQ fodder.

Few selections this year seemed worried about those SF televotes and ignored obvious jury songs.
Juries almost unanimously preferring "Fighter" was the strangest thing this year, along with the juries kicking Ryk to the curb. They weren't even close decisions!@@kaleproject3495

It gets overly-hated but was still one of the best songs in what was the best selection of the season.

Yeah, I've had a few people talk to me about it.
Generally when I rank/rate songs, I don't really care about the lyrics unless they're lyrically clunky or the word phrasing is awkward. In most cases, performers can sing out their shopping lists as far as I care. XD
For me personally, this is the hardest song to rank. Musically, I found it to be the most attractive candidate in Serbia. Lyrically, though, I don't have the cultural background needed to wade into that mess. I'd probably have it around #20 ordinarily, but I think I'll just disqualify it. There are too many good songs in the queue just waiting to get in my top 50.
