- this is how Hutterites celebrate the Easter holidays which always last 4 days. after that we dove head first into our work again...spring cleaning, raking around the community, green house work and of course we can't forget about the weekly friday cleaning. there is also another delicious and healthy dessert included.

Definitely, Altho I’m not very religious I would be so happy living somewhere like this.
I've had the chance this week to do a little business with one of the colonies here in Minnesota and I was able to have lunch with them and go back to their home and have coffee and ice cream.
We can really learn a lot from this group of Christians Good people

I asked the Hutterite community in CT if I could come visit them and see if theirs was a lifestyle I would like to adopt. It was more than 40 years ago but I remember my visit clearly! A young lady named Elizabeth introduced me to the elders and then gave me a tour. I stayed overnight. It was such a lively experience. They sing so beautifully before they eat their meals. I mean it sounds like angels singing acapella. It was the middle of winter and the kids enjoyed ice skating fun! I saw how they helped each other w cooking, making clothes and they changed jobs so it doesn’t get too boring. They have a sincere faith and are a very pious people. There were two reasons why even after seeing how lovely the community is, and how they also helped the homeless in NYC, I could not make the decision to live with them: I was informed it would be difficult for me to go see my family outside the community although visits from family was permitted… but I’m ashamed to say the main reason was it was so cold sleeping at night and I was afraid I couldn’t give up having a warm bed. Still I deeply respect this way of life. They are a very contented people and their joy is infectious!

I'm new to your channel and I've been binge watching so many of your videos! I live in SK in an area that has many colonies. When we first moved to this area we didn't feel very welcome and almost moved again, it was so sad, until we met several people from our neighboring colonies. They made us feel so happy to have moved here. The Hutterites here seem to be met with a lot of discrimination. Your work in making these videos is important and hopefully it will change a lot of misconceptions and negative feelings people have. Thank you for your work. Much Love here.

I live a very useless life where as you seem to have a positive purpose in everything you do, even if it is simply dangling your feet in the water and splashing your dog as you did in one video or simply enjoying good food that you made with your community/friends,

@@ReluctantPost I tend to think things were different back then. Back then, so many people were speaking in tongues that they had to set a limit of no more than 3. Also, the speaking in tongues was for NONBELIEVERS, it it probably wasn't the babbling that it is today.
@@Volleyball_Chess_and_Geoguessr What does the practice of tongues, which was always to be orderly as God is a God of order, not confusion, have to do with this video or comment thread? This comment was about living in a community like the one in the video with all things in common. Since Jesus had lived a version of that with His disciples (nomadically) and the Apostles continued a version of it in the chapter I mentioned, why is it a delusion?
2 to 4 hour church in afternoon.. I did not know that!! We have 1&1/2 on Sunday morning, 30 minutes at 4 pm in the afternoon… it’s wonderful to learn how diverse our communities are!
I’m glad that you have showed the gluten free options. My daughter & I are allergic to wheat & gluten. She’s also allergic to dairy & eggs. It’s nice to see everyone working together.

Giselle, I started watching and sharing your videos a few weeks ago.I love your content, music compilations and sharing of the Hutterite life. I live in Montana and buy from a colony here at the local Farmers Market. I have much more appreciation for my food watching all the care and time you all put in to it. Much respect for your work ethic and you are a beautiful seamstress, my mother and you would have gotten along wonderfully 😊 I appreciate seeing the traditions continuing 🙏

I'm 72 years old now,and still remember them loonng service at Easter, slept through most of it, ain't been in a church since I've left at 15 but that doesn't mean I don't believe in God ,last time I was in a church building got a stare down made me think I didn't belong,

Thank you for sharing your devotion. Thank you for sharing some of the message from the service. I think most of us are pretty clueless on colony life and I can say I see a lot of benefits from it. It seems somewhat like a bubble and for me would help keep my focus on Christ more than I can now. So many distractions in the world. I see a wholesome family and faith focused atmosphere. And I would love to see a video on how you make the rugs I saw you making in another older video. I think you had taken in over from your mom..love the videos. Happy Easter.

We finished raking yesterday, 2 day event..pruning and cleaning and and the guys helping, was so fun!
its actually more fun then it looks although we don't prune we just do the cleanup.

I cook sans measuring cup too! And hanging washed clothes outside to dry is the best! Koda is gorgeous! I agree with your idea that God calls us as individuals, therefore, individuality is a given. I grew up in Southern Saskatchewan, and a couple of local Hutterite Colonies were located close by our place, and my parents purchased many foods and other goods from them weekly at least! I remember the turkeys! The blankets! I wish I could live like that again, I was healthier, I think. Anyway, I remember it well, in the 60s and 70s! I love you folks! Salt of the earth! So I caught up on all your vlogs, it took me a little over a week of watching you..... now I'm Like " what did I do before I found your channel?" I could seriously start all over again!! I so enjoy your channel, you have no idea how much I look forward to it!! Your so fun& and real, refreshing.... I love your giggles and that you show when you mess up, I'm a born klutz....I could , and have tripped over basically nothing, made messes in the kitchen by accidentally doing something or bumping something....so seeing that I'm not the only one who does that and laughs anyways is great!! Love your remarks about Easter and the observance in your community. I have been Catholic my entire life and our observance of this holy season seems quite similar
interesting i have always wondered if there might be things similar in our beliefs.
@@gisellewaldner9406 yes. Especially the observance of good Friday as a solemn day and Easter being observed for more than one day. We also observe Ascension Day and Pentecost as significant feast days.

Giselle, I just recently came across your site and am very happy I did as brings back some very fond memories. Let me explain somewhat. I used to have a farm in central Alberta for many years. East of Lacombe very close to where now the Bashaw Colony is now. Retired now and live in south Mexico and have had for past 12 yrs. In am very familiar with the colonies in that area, Pleasent Valley, Alix, Erskine and most of all the Leedale colony. I have very good old friends there. Ester, Paul and Dora. Many years since I have seen them. Used to have them and family over for lunch on occasion and also went there for supper or lunch. My best friends ever. Love the colony life and envy you and the life you live very much. Had a lady friend there also and as I look back we were very close and I think I should have married her and settled for the life on the colony. Talked about it many times but never happened. I am of German decent so something else in common. Keep up the postings as am enjoying them very much.

The message is so true too that you touched on about choice. God wants our personal yes or no to His offer of relationship with Him. No matter how many others around us, or how close we are to our family, friends, God will always know us better than anyone else in this world 💕 and each of are unique in His sight. I pray all will accept the gift Jesus freely gives. I don’t know how I’d live without Him in my life and not sure how others navigate this life without that hope. 🙌🏼

Great Video! You amaze me with your devotion and work ethic. I discovered yesterday we have a Hutterite colony in Warden about 2 hours from me. I think I knew that but forgot. Before Covid, they invited locals over for a dinner and a tour by reservation. I’m going as soon as I can.

Hi Giselle! After watching several of your videos I think we might have met a young man from your colony a few years ago. His name was Jesse, he came to our church convention in Northern Ontario.
He told a story of how the colony purchased the stock of a mountain bike store in BC that had caught fire. The colony refurbished all the bikes and each member got to keep a really nice mountain bike and the rest were sold. He also mentioned how the metal work they did at the colony used a water saw, which I saw in one of your videos. Would be so interesting to know if you know of him! Love your videos, blessings to you!
Hmm there are a few colonies that have a water jet (as well call it) but, no I don't think he is from our place, I'm kind of curious as to where he's from now.

I am envious of the sense of family & community portrayed in your videos. I went through an ugly divorce and lost all family ties. Now I work remotely and do most things alone. Oh well, this is the path God has bestowed on me.

I’ll tell you what…every time you make yourself a cup of coffee I want one so bad. It just looks delicious. I’ve had to cut my coffee by a lot. It upsets my tummy.. I’ve been making hot chocolate wit a bit of coffee in it an I can get by with that a couple times a week. Thank you so much.
Giselle, I love your videos! I am from southern AB. I love all of our hutterite patients that come to my office where I work! My sister is a school teacher for one of the colonies by our hometown and she loves it! I have been sharing my house plants with one of my patients/my sisters students.
