Hello James! I'm glad to see your show! Great work! Great quality! Sorry I haven't been able to get to Williamsburg to have lunch. I will let you know when I can.
Good to see Part 2 !! I agree 100% Not every car OR every owner wants to do the "Monterey Concours" with their Rolls Royce Not every owner wants to have a 100 point car. Many just want the fine experience of owning and driving a good, well maintained Rolls Royce, hand in the air! 🙂and not just a trailer Queen. Just think how many more of the marque could be "on the road" instead of "in the junkyard" IF more possible owners knew just how much maintenance can be done to these cars by using easily affordable substitute and after market parts. Very few items are actually proprietery in design. The normal maintenance items are actually no different than any 1980s car. I guess its like the dog world- you have a Heinz 57 dog that you love and dote over yet your neighbor only "buys" AKC registered stock and snubs his nose at your "mongrel". People are people. Some good some bad. Some you just ignore. Like any other purchase you have to know what you are looking at to buy but once a good candidate is found you're not limited to "Factory Authorized Parts and Service". Alternatives, affordable alternatives are available. Just like there are factory original, numbers matching 100 point 1965 Corvettes out there (had one once), there are also 100s of 65 Corvettes out there running on the roads with very happy owners not worried about going across the Concours stage. I've had Porsches, Cadilllacs, Mercedes, Vetts, etc and nothing beats the enjoyment of driving a Rolls Royce 🙂
@@rolls-royceandbentleybuyer8409 I have a friend that is helping. We have the shop manual downloaded. He and I are working through things. So far so good. I have put about 300 miles on the car and living the dream!

Great customisation... also when RR and Btly began they made the engine and chassis then gave it over for your coach builder Mulliner / Park Ward / Young etc etc to finish... so nothing wrong with having your own 'J Cameron'
🤭 Interesting video as always. As the owner of a small collection of modern classic Rolls_Royce and Bentley cars 🚗 , all from the 1990s. As much as I love my old dream cars, they are truly expensive to run, and keep on the road. I had to learn quickly the hard way - There is no such thing as a cheap Rolls_Royce and Bentley, and there never will be, if you, like me want to keep driving them. Happy Motoring 😊
I love the 90’s Rolls Royces. They were the most quiet, softest, driving of that era of Spirits and Spurs. The bad news is they also had “sensors,” and a computer system….unfortunately, modern is not always better…drive safe!🇬🇧
@@rolls-royceandbentleybuyer8409 🤔 Yes unfortunately how right you are. I do have problems with Warning ⚠️ lights coming on, sometimes for no real reason. Enjoy your channel 😀.
Additionally, leather will last a lifetime if it is properly cared for. My car is 43 years old and the leather is beautiful. I’m curious: what is it that attracted you to Rolls-Royce in the first place?
When I was 13yrs old I watched “Burk’s Law with actor Gene Barry. I fell in love with them ever since. FYI, the man who owns “Hemings” also lives in Virginia. He has a ‘85 Bentley convertible. He replaced the seats with non leather..go to Motoman Bentley and “See” for yourself…His name is Dave King.🇬🇧
@@rolls-royceandbentleybuyer8409 You're always so certain that you're right that you never listen and you don't listen you don't learn. That car DID NOT have "non leather" seats. ONLY the dash top roll used a different material and even that wasn't required and was a poor choice both in terms of a different material and colour. The US market was obsessed by light colour top rolls that reflect terribly in the screen. The preferred choice here was leather but using the dark piping colour. The problem with leather is that you have to check through lots of hides to one large enough and is defect free.
Love the videos James, and am also a keen Rolls Royce enthusiast myself, owning a very early spirit in magnolia. I do have to disagree with one point made however - the cheaper alternative to mineral oil. The hydraulic system was specifically designed with this fluid in mind, and sourcing alternatives not approved for use by RR can and certainly will cause seals to swell etc, ultimately meaning the car will need a full hydraulic overhaul. This is circa £5000 + if carried out by a specialist. It only seems logical spending the small difference between the aftermarket oil and OEM RR mineral oil that gives full peace of mind. My point is, whilst I certainly fail in the enthusiast category, with these cars there are just some things you cannot stray away from handbook/specialist guidance on. I did have one chap point out at a show I took the Rolls to once that the headlight wipers were “incorrect”. I.E this purist seemed rather smug that they were simply rubber, (more practical), as opposed to the chrome wiper brushes it would have rolled out of the factory with - what sacrilege!!My reply was a smirk, and something along the lines of -99.9% will either not know, or not care! Keep up the great Vids, but hope you can see my point with this. Joe Leicester I’m
I agree that there are things that one can not get around. In my defense, the oil that I use, I have been using for 7yrs. It is Valvoline high sink, non-synthetic. That doesn’t mean that something might not go south tomorrow. Thanks for your input, please keep watching.🇬🇧
Hello, I enjoy the simplicity of your videos however, I must disagree on a few of your statements: 1) the exceptional quality of the original Connelly hide is made to last the lifetime of the car. I own a 1973 Corniche, 1977 Silver Wraith II, a 1992 Turbo RL and a 1996 Continental T and the leather on all of them, is pristine. I take great care of them, cleaned them and nourished them with the correct products. They are perfect. 2) I believe that one can be a purist and an enthusiast at the same time. It depends on the car you own. My 1977 SWII, has done only 13.000 miles from new and all on it is original. The car drives only about 100 miles per year but I service it every year and use only RR approved products. The only thing I do not to, is fit it with Avon tires since those are $500 a corner. It simply does not make sense to me to spend 2grand and have the tires simply get old. I use a brand called Radar and the make tires for classic cars that are about $100. On the other hand, my Turbo RL is driven about 3.000miles per year and on that one, I use Avons. The parts and lubricants that RR used and suggest the keepers to use and not suggested to make money abs especially not back in the 70s and 80s. They were coche se because the were the best on the market and had to be used in the best cars in the world. The values of the company have always been to be the best and produce the best and that requires using the best products. By not doing so, you are diminishing the intended value and performance of these works of art. Thanks for your videos and good work
