We lost my husband to covid-19 early in March of 2020. We depend on delivery, both of my parents have dementia and I don't know what we would have done during the worst of the pandemic. Every time I got sick it was after a trip to the grocery store. On top of dementia my dad is in heart failure. I can't count on the caregivers that are supposed to come to allow me a few hours break. I appreciate all the delivery people who save me having to drag my parents out. Thank you for what you do. I'm sorry the companies don't pay you what you are worth.
Thank you. We make most of our money on tips and unfortunately we have no idea what the tip is until after the delivery so I have found that a lot of times there's no tip at all. I appreciate people like you and I'm happy to help even if I'm not the Dasher in your area
@FLEABONE we lost my son in law to covid. I am sorry for that. Thank you for being a kind person! Not many of those around anymordasAs far as caring for your parents, great job!!! I, myself am a caregiver and it is not easy!!! Getting the breaks you need is not easy to do! I SEE you and the amazing job you are doing!
Personally I have no problem tipping. It's doordash who puts in all these crazy fees It's ridiculous the customer should not get all the smoke when doordash is not paying drivers a decent delivery fee and your pay falls on the customer. I would rather go and pickup my own food.
I've learned that if they send u a message saying they r busy it usually means there is one really bad offer that no one else wants so they would like to see if you would take it. Please.
How about just paying a reasonable minimum per order? My AR hit zero% yesterday. I spend half my day rejecting disgusting insults. How is this an efficient or serious manner of doing business? We are supply all the labor and supplying a car, gas, insurance, maintenence, and depreciation of said car. Two dollars? These apps are the most un-serious people I have ever encountered in my journey through this life. And that includes circus clowns, comedians, and politicians.
I'm a new Dasher and the app keeps telling me I need to keep my AR up to get more better paying offers. I'm at 49%. If I let it go to 5% then all I'm going to get is $2 offers???
@@bml33 Try to stay above 50% for silver status and you'll still get some bad offers but more worthwhile offers too. I still get the occasional $2 order as well as the occasional $25 order.
That part. I tried DD a half a year ago almost. I saw that you needed to complete 50 orders before being able to get your ap really up and to get better offers. I spent a whole 2 days trying to DD, barely got orders and when I did, they were $2-6. I did 6 hours each day, trying to get orders and eventually gave up. I ended up making $29.50 doing delivery and it cost me $30 just to fill my tank. So, not only did I work for DD for free, I lost 50 cents. That and the lowball offers made me quit the app. There's no push or drive to actually want to deliver, it's like they tell you, either take our chump change or we will punish you by never giving you valuable deliveries. I can make waaaay more money being a restuarant server and I don't have to use my car for work and get paid a wage on top of tips. Smh
@ Instead of fixing the real problem, insulting money losing offers, DoorDash would rather hector and gaslight the drivers and create phony tiers and programs to twist the driver’s arms into complying.
@@jkt1622 With a 2 or 3 dollar order, the customer essentially wants us to do a free favor. They want to pay what they would pay if they went to the restaurant themselves. We’re trying to feed our families. How come DoorDash doesn’t recognize this?
I’ve been on both ends as a driver and a customer I think it’s crazy how as a customer we’ll pay like $40 for a meal that’s really like $20-$25 but the driver is only getting paid like $5-8 tip included
You`re better off getting a security guard job watching a roll-up door or fence while watching movies all night. At least in a security guard overnight position, you`re getting paid a guaranteed wage every day, every week.
When I move to the city, that's what I plan on doing. I was a security guard in Houston for years, I loved guarding warehouses, industrial sites and such. Best job ever because you mostly work alone. I think overnights might be hard for me now that I'm older, but I'm hoping I could get used to it. On my off time I will definitely be doing Uber eats and Doordash, but will be nice to know I don't have to rely on those for income.
Drivers come, drivers go, and the Gig Economy is constantly changing, but many of us also stand our ground and keep on going! Stay safe out there everyone!
@@MikeTheBikeDasher69 DoorDash is done and they should of been out of business alone time ago once people posted what drivers was doing eating and tampering with people food from the news and social media and it’s scary that people still order from them when they food still not secure enough especially the drinks them stickers don’t work you still can open them stickers as if nobody would know meaning if the customers not tipping or fairly tip people still can put something in they drinks like a pill or blood anything with out you knowing until you end up sick or something not knowing if someone got a VIRUS or HIV or possibly AIDS but people not think about these things they better off getting they OWN food if they not going to TIP fair or RIGHT or have a FAMILY MEMBER get they food cause ain’t no way the food it’s still not secure nor the right pay but people not thinking nor IS DoorDash if the pay NOT right or someone who can’t speak ENGLISH properly I wouldn’t trust nobody to deliver my food but people not think which is sad and scary at the same time it’s people who take they job seriously and it’s some who don’t especially if they not getting paid fairly
That's because they let anyone with a pulse deliver. I think it's ridiculous that good people lose opportunities while incompetent people who can't speak English or follow directions are employed. I work next to a Burger King and Doordash drivers daily walk in and shove a phone in someone's face and they yell "Doordash" you look at their phone it says Burger King and we have to direct them to the building next door. Everyday new drivers circling the parking lot with their hazards on not understanding their own job.
OMG spot on!! I live in VA nothing racist but they don't understand English, instructions nothing, using fake accounts and u wonder why all drivers seen as bad WTH u don't understand 💩 demand food u in wrong restaurant anyone with a pulse u so right 👍
You're right but that's why I also drive passengers. I don't take deliveries for under $20/hr. It's because the delivery customers are not tipping. I don't gamble on a cash tip at the door.
I am 79 yr old partially disabled female, so I need and depend on my food delivery! I live in rows of apartments, and the driver has repeatedly left my food three doors down. The first time it happened, I called with a missing food report, only to be told it was delivered. I called my granddaughter to straighten it out for me, only to find out it was three doors down. She had to go and take it off another person's porch. We have placed detailed instructions, as well as placed a small table next to the door with those detailed delivery instructions, only to have it happen again, two more times. Once, I waited at the door only to see the driver park down there. I opened the door and asked if it was my order... and it was! So, we are not always saying we are not receiving the food only to cheat the restaurant and the driver. I need my driver, I tip my driver and still worry about my order!
Sorry to hear that. I want to make a few suggestions: Get a unique door mat, make sure your apt./house numbers are legible, make sure your door/address is well lit and add special instructions in the app. Also maybe ask them to call or text you upon arrival. The app. shows the driver a picture of your front door and also all of the special instructions.
Right I hit platinum on Door dash and making less than I was before this status. Getting less order, and not making minimum wage and my gas is getting used up. If I park it seems I’m not getting anything at all. What I’ve noticed too is I can dash any time but the time option seems to be locked 90% of the time. Evening seems to be open often. When the gas prices were higher I was making more than when prices dropped.
What area are you in because I hate Uber Eats but sometimes I make in one night over $150 doing it but 50 goes back in my gas tank so yeah I make 100 lol. The least amount I've made is (and mind you I only work 4hr no less than 3 hrs a day) $47.36, but that's because I only worked for 1hr and 12 minutes that day
@ that’s good if you make that every day I’ve made that but not often. On a good day 100 in2-3 after 5. Every zone makes a difference and if your either by time compared by order. Days mids are within maybe 60 in 2 hrs. Zones I hate to say it’s bad to low budget areas. Door Dash figures u out when u work a certain area and make money then gives you the 2-3 dollars or 4 dollars to spread dashers money around. I do over 300 dashes per month. I’ve been dashing for over 2 years but know for sure 150 is not possible every day where I’m at for 4-6 hrs. I’ve made 300 in all day dash but it’s pushing it. My truck usually needs to be fueled every day 65 dollars. Most dashes are usually far but without excepting them by time is best for me. By time I’ve doing good on occasions but not often. Dashes have been dad lately here. Making 20 is 50% chance by hr. But time of day depends. Door dash has been locking my time. Then lots of those small orders. If you do them anyways then other days they will give you high paying orders. I’m a platinum dasher but still get those crap dashes. Door Dash at times will give you a week or 2 weeks to get good money then down to low pay.
Same here in Scotland can’t make any decent money anymore. The apps are all the same it’s done. I will be leaving to start a new job soon. Great vid thx
I ran out one time when I got an "It's busy" message. It takes me a few minutes to get to town because I live in the country. I sat for 45 minutes because it was no longer busy. At least now that I'm platinum I don't have that issue anymore. I have learned what times are usually busy though and only dash during those times.
I'm going through the same thing as a door dash driver..and I agree with you 100 percent. It is really sad how people are really saying that they didn't get their food and door dash does not pay the drivers like they used to. Thank you for this!
When the customers claim they didn’t get the food it actually hurts the restaurant, I own 2 restaurants and DoorDash takes the money directly from the restaurant when they get a complaint, then we need to dispute the claim and show proof we bagged the correct food. We now have cameras that just film the takeout bagging station so we can show proof.
@@Sheila-hn3zttips are not paid by restaurants, but by customers. If custoners say they didn't get the food delivered, not only does it affect the restaurant but also the DD delivery driver because they lose out on their pay and tip, if DD ends up siding with the fake claim of customer.
@@testingspirits7446I am so glad I deliver for DD and not UberEats. I have been reported twice of not delivering food to the customer, which I did deliver. DD doesn't just go with the customer's claim, they send a message to the driver and say the customer reported that their food was not delivered. DD gives you a chance to give an explanation, and then you can defend yourself on this report. Good thing both times I was reported, I remembered exactly whom I had delivered to and where I put it, etc. DD accepted my dispute both times.
@monicarichards3439 I know tips are paid by the customer....I'm a customer. Door Dash is always encouraging to tip well and that it makes a difference in drivers choosing your order to deliver......to make up for them not paying better. Jerks.
I’m a uber driver here in Houston for the past 8 years. And I got penalized and my account got deactivated the beginning of this year from customers stating I stole the food when I NEVER DID. So all I did was after a month a sign up with uber with a different email and back on the road again. But the money is not the same anymore that’s for sure. And not everyone tips
As a 70 yr old falling at a delivery today after drop off, missed step down the walkway, lost my balance. Wow I can get up fast when you’re embarrassed in their front yard 😂. Maybe it’s time to quit 🥺🤷🏻♀️
Got to watch those steps. For awhile I thought it was mainly millennials and gen z who did these delivery apps but it seems like most ubereats drivers that delivery to my house are older than me. When you think about it, it can be a good side hustle for retired people that are bored staying home all day but don't want to work a full-time job.
@@KentPetersonmoney or due to health issues not being able to do a full-time regular job where you must people up if you have to call out because you’re not feeling well. For those with chronic illnesses.
I use DD often and my family n friends are Dashers, I agree with DD pay and I consider myself a good tipper, what is DD paying? I've experienced many times my food being stolen as well, if you're not being paid well and the food you're delivering is fresh and tempting, I guess it is what it is. DD, if you're watching, pay your workers real money please
@ianntharoseberry7508 I know that, I was saying if I was a Dasher, which I'm not and I'm not being paid well and I'm picking up hot fresh food, it might be tempting to eat
We get paid decent it's a game have to decline orders that don't make sense. Also customers that report non delivery is what screws us up I have not experienced this yet no fraud yet I've only ha da few tips. Uber eats when you order food for delivery asks for tip up front
Door Dash used to pay $5 base per delivery I think. Now they're splitting the profit and taking the money for themselves. Looks like paying only $1 per mile now 😂😂😂 Door Dash founder went to Stanford just to learn how to steal
Your reading of Doordash is accurate. I will not take a job where the money is not at least double the mileage. As a result I quit dashing. No money anymore. I hope you make some money out of your channel. Good luck!
I worked my butt off and finally got my AR up to 80 and my orders to 100 so since I have been platinum I’ve getting amazing orders I was out yesterday for 2 hours and made $74
That's the only way 80 and above, AR...I will never let my AR drop ever again drop bellow 80%. I had 60% AR when I started Dashing and it sucks, you get shytty orders, they know you refusing everything and won't give you good orders. They will do it for spite, trust me i know been there done that. Now I rarely get bad orders. And now I do alot of shopping, Target, win dixie, CVS, Dollar General. Liquor stores ABC, TOTAL WINE, If you have great surrounding strip malls and such in your area 🤷🏾♂️👋🏽
I'm in the process of doing the same! Two days ago, my acceptance rate was 4%. I'm at 39% as of tonight. My goal is to be at a minimum 50%, trying for 70%, though, so I can start getting the really good orders again, especially on the day before Thanksgiving. All of my other ratings are great (shop & regular), so once I get my AR up, I'll be making much better money. 😉
Same I usually do pretty good. Sometimes I help out and take a crap order since I'm right there and then get compensated with good orders. I'm also platinum . My acceptance rate is 92 percent
The prices they charge for delivery and they are still only offering $2 per run if there isn't a tip added... Crazy... I gave up after a few months, the first month was great.
I'd be more transparent with customers who order... They should know that all the delivery fees do not go to the driver's. They should be more up front that tipping ensures drivers will take their order, less likely drivers will decline... It should also provide estimated mileage and give a tip recommendation, say at least $1 a mile, but $2 a mile would be fantastic
Yep it goes down once a twice a year. It was over three base pay when I started but I heard a few years before that it was a six dollar base pay minimum.
I live in an area where I am like one of the only Uber Eats drivers. There are others but at night I’m like one of the only ones. One night I was curious. I opened the customer Uber Eats app and looked at one of the closest restaurants. It wasn’t accepting orders because “all couriers are busy”. I went online and suddenly it was accepting orders but at a $20 delivery fee! Meanwhile all they’d probably give me is $2.50 out of that $20 fee!
@@KetoSimple Door dash is afraid of lack of orders if they mention a tip but lets be honest last time I looked they recommended tip amount and I also always tip in person a minimum of $5.00 so at least the gas and car maintenance can be done!!!
I’ve found that many, if not most drivers are intentionally being dishonest with themselves about their actual earnings, or they don’t have the skills to figure it correctly. As a rule, when asked about their income, most drivers report the amount BEFORE any deductions. - deduct your gas cost -deduct cost of wear on your car -deduct approx 25-30% for taxes and social security. -deduct cost if purchasing additional “gig” auto insurance Divide the deducted figure by the amount of hours you spent on the app- NOT the active time. 0:15 Most will see that your “take home” is equal or less than your state’s minimum wage. On the rare occasion that you had an exceptionally profitable shift and feel the need to advertise that on whatever site, this only entices more new drivers to join up because they think it’s the norm
I deduct gas and then I see what I made. Nothing else. I average 9 to 15 an hour. Sometimes 20. I usually get decent orders . You are not going to make a lot of money. It's meant for extra money not a living
That will not be accurate. Irs per mile rate expense is .67 cents a mile. So income minus .67 a mile minus other expenses.....then net income. Then taxes on net. And u think door dashers are paying gig insurance?
Doordash sends out unreasonable text to drivers complaining about you late when they know it's rush hour which is annoying.I used to make good money years ago not anymore
@@dion744so true... and I hate when they send me a text telling me that I am going the wrong way to pick up an order.. I Dash in my town, I know where our restaurants and stores are, and I may take a "shortcut" compared to what their GPS is sending me. I don't think it's necessary to send us those kinds of texts!
@@pcgod718they keep your tips up to 30 days. Look it up in the app. Customers tell me thank you ive tipped so i messaged DD support and they told me to read the rules in app
poor people don't usually order from DD. Maybe sick. Also, they may be stingy, cheap. I do get recurring customers that NEVER tip. But I can't be choosy cause I need the money. I'd rather get DD's base pay w/o tip than nothing at all. Besides, if I decline the low/no tipping dashes, my offers will become fewer and that will affect my high ratings.
If they would just pay better base operation would run much smoother, customers would wanna order often cause they dont have to tip 10$ to get their shot
Yes, Doordash obviously wants illegals instead of Americans to work for them. The majority of the dashers in my area I run into don't speak English since they reduced how much we make by 1/3 in the spring. I thought it must be over saturated but I keep getting messages they want me to refer people for a bonus
When I was a new Dasher, I got a false sense of how Dashing really is. I made good income for the first couple of weeks, had lots of offers pop up. Then it stopped. I sat around in my car for about 3 days, waiting for anything to pop up. So I called DD. I was told I had to schedule my dashing sessions. Like a week in advance. So that's how it's been since I joined. You can't log on and start Dash Now. Until I made it to platinum. But still... since I have to schedule my dashes now in advance, I miss whenever the Dash Now opens up. It opens up for a short time, though. There have been a few times that I have logged on to schedule my Dashes, and noticed the Dash Now was opened. Then after I got the schedules I preferred, the Dash Now was no longer there. Yeah, so the new Dashers are getting most of the deliveries, until no longer new! I wish it was fair for all, though.
Well for one they charge a lot for ordering something that cost 7or8 for a meal and you're paying 22 dollars and your food is cold or soggy and so people stop using Uber eats or door dash ,the big companies are making a fortune,so I cook my own food and i take my own food to work to avoid using those apps to bring me food.
Its beyond me why anyone still doing DD! The purpose of having a side hustle is to spend a few hours to make some money. NOT to spend a few hours sitting in your car wasting time not making money!
@kittykay8015 She does it because it makes her money off of doing youtube videos. ( nothing wrong with doing that) because no person with any common sense would do this job.
Yes! They were great! Now ppl just get out themselves more and the ones still using it, just got used to the convenience and now don’t tip like they used to. IMO In 2020/2021 Uber Eats was my best paying/tipping app. I always made 200 or more a night on weekends. I miss those days. I don’t do any gig work anymore because it was just a waste of time for me personally in my area.
If I ran DoorDash the first and most important thing I'd do is change base pay to be comparable to miles. I would start pay at 0.90c/mile + tips. And if the zone surges you can increase it. Because wading through traffic and populated areas is increased risk and work. At the very least it would HELP make some trips make SOME sense instead of giving you trash offers you end up messing up your AR.
I think its based on AR. I have a 82% AR and a friend of mine has a under 50%. His timer shows 3 to 5 mins while mine will show longer. They get more offers quicker then me but they are also lower paying higher mileage. While I to get some crap, most my orders are profitable. End of the day I usually make $25 up to 40$ an hr avg. they make $18 up to $24 avg.
13-23 munites when the map is red😮....you need to move to a different area. My map when I dash is always 1-5, 1-3, or in slow times maybe 2-7. But 13- 23 mins is not good... I would quit.😢...
I don't do doordash much mainly because I try to keep my income under $600. If I make more then I might need a 2nd 1099 forum which would cause me extra to file. To answer your question I have doordash set up to where it gose into my emergency fund. No money comes out of that account unless there's an emergency like having to get my wisdom teeth removed or if I lose my job out of the blue. By the way I finally started Walmart spark.
You do not have to pay extra for another 1099, they all get added together, and you pay one price. So does not matter if you have 20 different 1099 jobs, price is the same for 1 or 20, makes no difference.
@@SaraElizabethYTjust now seeing this comment. Walmart spark not too bad. I wanted to connect it to my main bank account so I get paid directly there but they had me set up this online account called branch. I did a shopping order today. Thought it was curbside but it was shopping. Had to shop for 40 items and hated it. Wish I could turn the shop and pay off like I do with ubereats. I never ended on doing any shopping orders with Walmart spark but sometimes that's the only offers I get.
I am disabled and depend on delivery services...by the time they raise the item price of what you are purchasing, add the service fee, taxes, delivery fee and small order fee I can barely provide a tip. When a driver forgets something, which happens, or does not follow delivery instructions it is a big deal to those of us who cannot do it for ourselves. I despise that I have to call back and forth to try and get a resolution. If you order directly from a restaurant app that uses doordash to deliver, doordash will take no responsibility for their drivers' errors. And the restaurant won't because doordash delivered. This is beyond frustrating
@daredeardeal7901 these gig corporations are flat out crooks..It was never designed for people that can barley pay for the meal..It's for people that can afford to be lazy .. Common sense tells anyone that a stranger is using there own vehicle and most importantly their OWN TIME. Seeing that whoever placed the order didn't want to get the food or whatever themselves they should take care of the person willing to bring it to them. The platform and the diner both need to pay the driver but 80%of what the drivers make are from the appreciation from the one that placed the order.. Any particular delivery is minimum 15 to 20 min to pick up the order and deliver it. SO HOW MUCH IS 20 MIN OF YOUR TIME WORTH...Remember you didn't even want to go get it for yourself...Hmmm a driver should make a minimum of $7.00 per 15 min ..that's only $28.00 a hour minus gas. Sometimes or a lot of times the driver is 5 to 10 miles away from the pick up location then 1 to 5 miles to drop off.
Also...the company should NOT charge the customer all those fees. I'm a dasher and I do understand why the tips from the customer may be small. Those apps. charge the customer fees and expect them to give EXTRA money for a tip. The companies is who I really BLAME. They are making all the money...and doing little to no work.
I’ve had several instances where food was legitimately missing, cold, etc, instances where the driver was more interested in talking on the phone than paying attention, etc. I tip based on how well you do your job. I’m currently disabled and depend on delivery for just about everything. Do your job well, care about the people you’re serving, and you’ll typically be compensated well with tips. I have several friends who work at restaurants and bars and make a killing in tips, because they do their jobs well.
They are also lying to dashers about the miles for some of the orders. I accepted a $11 order for 9 miles and it ended up being 17 miles and it wasn't the first time. If everyone stops accepting bad orders then there won't be any bad orders. Platinum is a joke, no need to try to get it
I get it, I dash on the side also but I do have a full time job that I've been at for 12 years. When I get the little $2 orders to go 5 miles or further, I decline them. I feel like Door Dash can do better!
I feel that door dash should pay drivers accordingly to where they are located when sent an offer. Because if one driver is 3 miles from a restaurant while another driver is in the restaurants parking lot, the offer shouldn’t be the same for both drivers. If door dash sends the offer to the further away driver then the base pay should be more. But I know that’ll never happen lol when people will always take $2 orders going 3 or 4 miles 😂
I liked and subscribed to your channel, love your videos. Funny, smart, honest, and very accurate. Keep up the good work. I am a HVAC tech and am thinking of doing Doordash or Uber Eats using an E-Bike in Houston tx. Its very populated and people hate driving here, hopefully it will work. Your videos are extremelly helpful..thank you.
Good observation with the double Door Dash notifications for the customer and dasher. I hadn't picked up on that one. I will say customers aren't the only ones stealing food though, and to be fair I haven't had a contract violation from a customer reporting their food wasn't delivered in a long time (knock on wood lol). Unfortunately, the dashers do it too and it seems like it's the new dashers that do. It's happen to me far more times than I've received a CV. I'll arrive at the merchant to pickup my order only to be told that it was already picked up. That infuriates me bc it ends up punishing me for being an honest dasher. You never get ahead or benefit from stealing really. Someone always pays the price. That's the whole idea of the saying "there is no free lunch." Sometimes it's all parties involved that are affected even the theif. I'd say that's the case for the Door Dash theft in general. The other huge factor with the inconsistency of business for dashers (specifically on a weekly basis) is the constant cycle of new dashers added to the platform. As you said dashers are quitting, but that means new ones are added to replace them. Dashers come and go. It's a huge revolving Door. The very thing Door Dash does to keep new dashers engaged is what leads them to eventually quit! It's crazy! New dashers (or dashers who haven't dashed in a long time) are the ones who are truly prioritized. They get the best orders, but it only lasts so long. I don't know exactly how long, but I think it's to assist them in getting their 1st 100 orders. Once they eventually experience what is more the norm and the orders aren't as good they stop dashing! Meanwhile longterm, trustworthy dashers who know what they're doing suffer through the ups and downs of business/dashers coming and going when we are the ones who should be thrown the more meaty bones once in awhile. I get it that you wanna hook new dashers in but not to the extent they do it. It ends up having the opposite effect! They need to calm down a little bit with sending the better orders to the new dashers to make it a little more smoother for the longterm dashers you would think they'd also want to keep! So I don't even think the inconsistency has so much to do with how many orders are coming in as it does with the way the algorithm works to prioritize new dashers, which is often! Lastly, ever since the rewards program started the platform has never been so oversaturated with dashers. Unfortunately, it's also been my suspicion that starting this past fall around late Sept/early Oct they oversaturated the markets with an even higher # of dashers allowed on at the same time in all the markets. Some markets are hurt by it more than others. Mine seems to get hit pretty hard by it. The business was awful in October and yet Door Dashes stock was up on the daily throughout that time. The year before I remember it remaining surprisingly pretty steady.
Yesssssss I'm a dasher with 5500 deliveries.... with a single Digit AR currently... I always get pics of every delivery .. even if they are marked hand it to me..I just take a pic in the messages and send it to customer with a TY..lol... sometimes I'm asked why and I tell them as to WHY I'm getting pics that way they KNOW I have evidence that the order was actually delivered
I've had delivery drivers leave my order at wrong address, arrive at my door, take a photo then walk off with my order and even had one who didn't bother driving to my home but instead took a photo on the lawn next to the restaurant and mark it delivered. So in my case the dishonesty has been from drivers side only.
I've been working for doordash for 5 months. The area on the map will turn bright red that means it's very busy and I can't tell you how many times I've driven towards that area and all the sudden that big red area goes away.
The 1 thing I would do, if I were DD, is I would base the base pay according to mileage. Maybe a $2 minimum, with 50 cents more per mile when over 5 miles. So, on a 10 mile food delivery, the base pay alone would be $4.50, and then they tip over that.
There's nothing they can do. They can't charge more for delivery to pay drivers more because then the cost of the meal to the customer will not be feasible to order. Ordering food from a restaurant online for a 3rd party to deliver is not sustainable. Unless Doordash was to go to a subscription model then maybe. With Walmart, customers can sign up and pay for Walmart + and get free or discounted home delivery so Walmart is making revenue from those customers that they can pay to the Spark gig driver. Doordash is just adding a fee to the food order and people are not going to keep buying if their meal cost keeps going up.
I got an order for $10 to drive 26 minutes Im not sure how many miles it was but it was far. It was around lunch time I hit every red light plus I'm 57 years old I had to pull over and go to the bathroom so that took about 2 minutes and because I got their 10 minutes later than I was supposed to the guy contacted doordash and complained. My first complaint. I was so disgusted and insulted because I really didn't want to take the order in the first place once I found out how far away it was. And that's one thing I hate about doordash, you don't know where you're going until after you pick up the order
When I first started delivering, I was taking everything I could get and I was making okay money. Then I got selective, started driving less and making less also. Some of them $2 fairs tip after the delivery and that was why I was making more when I wasn't selective. Not being selective was leaving me an hour drive to get home and often getting fuel twice I a 10 hour shift. Although it seemed like I was making more not being selective, I really wasn't because I was just working harder and driving more. It's newer drivers that are naive like I started that are taking all them smaller fairs and the companies count on that. I went from 95% acceptance to 15% and there is no going back seeing them $1 tips hurts my heart and stresses me out, I'm not being taken advantage of like that anymore.
I was a deliver driver signed up for Door Dash and after 1 time delivery I would never do Door Dash again they didn't pay and not worth my time or gas and wear on my vehicle...I made $1000 doing deliveries for Walmarts but then again Walmart was good to me but then later 1 store stated to treat me so bad and I became real depressed and stopped all together so it wasn't worth what that store put me through.... The bad part of delivering in my area is that its a tourist town and so all those cases of warer up to a 3rd or 5th floor at a resort at my age of 64 is really hard for me to do the grocery part and shopping was easy for me!! The drinks in the summer and holidays are killers
The sad part is us customers are overcharged on the food, which doesnt even include the fees and the obligated tip. None of us win besides the greedy companies.
It's not just you...they send out these disgusting low paying offers hoping someone is stupid enough to take it. While they are making billions off our car and time.
I do DoorDash full-time have been for 10+ years. I make a minimum of $23hr now. I work when want where I want. Never have I only made $8hr unless I sat and kept declining order after order.
After deducting 67 cents per mile for gas and depreciation on my vehicle, I make less than $4 an hour. Some days it goes negative. I am taking value out of my vehicle to subsidize peoples' fast food deliveries. Not even worth it as a side hustle anymore. Cant even get beer money out of it.
That's how I got deactivated. Customers where saying they didn't get their food and was lying. My success rate was at 93% and my average tip was almost $8 per delivery and I was only late 3 times out of over 1100 deliveries
I live in Jackson MS, most orders average 4 dollars and rarely I'll get an 8 dollar order once a dash, maybe 3 orders a week 10 or above. All my rates are good, acceptance at 70%.
I have been forced into bankruptcy. I have a regular FT job. I have done DoorDash PT since 2020. ‘20-‘23 I made an extra $1k a month. As of the start of 2024, I make an extra $8 a week.
My last or took 2 hours smd still didn't get it.... 5 Dashers and no message why they leave.... What does it look like if one vant message of thete is a problem?
If they tell you a zone is busy that you are not currently in perhaps they can get a driver to "dash along the way" taking any crappy order at first to get to the busy zone (that is backed up with even more crappie orders). Like rideshare hot zones that magically disappear as you enter them. The rideshare map with your vehicle icon looking like an old school packman game that is eating away the red colored portion of the so called hot surge zones you are chasing
I had a shop and delivery order and the customer ordered lots of spices. I was penalized because the customer says I got the wrong item for about 8 of the spices. How can that be because you can’t scan the wrong item. Every item scanned was in her cart. I called Doordash and they said there was nothing they could do. Of course this customer didn’t leave a tip.
That happened to me. I looked all over the store for an item. Finally scanned it and the customer said they didn't get it. I had another customer say she didn't get half of her grocery order but I scanned, paid, and took a picture at delivery. There is no way to dispute it.
What gets me is when they offer you 2 orders from the same location and offer $13 for one order and $1 for the other...they are 2 different orders!!!! Also they force you to accept orders witht the new acceptance rate policy...!!!! Even if the orders pay $0.50 or else your acceptance rate will drop...!!!!wtf
That happened to me when they said they were busy. They put me under review last week. I don’t know why. Maybe someone said their food was missing. Which people be lying. Door dash should pay better and these people need to tip better. It pisses me off to get penalized because you decline an offer with low pay. It’s not fair and not worth it!
DoorDash does. its called Earn by time. In my area it varies between $16 to $17 and ACTIVE hr. So from when you pick up until drop off, you make a set amount plus tips. Personally I have been using it more and more and make from $25 yo $40 an hr, in my market.
Lunch time is awful for me i usually get 3 orders dead center hotspot and usually take 1 of them..been like this three atraight weeks. Oversaturation continues to be an issue . Got 50 drivers same area only 5 orders
I generally do passengers on Lyft in Pittsburgh market but I'm 45 miles from the city, and Jan and Feb is dead on Lyft during the week. I've recently been messing around with doordash in my neighborhood. The hourly guarantee seems to be the way to go. In my market it's essentially an hourly rate+tips. On Friday it was 22.25/hr plus tips. I made 105 in 3.5 hrs, which was decent. For me, it's less time/miles, and I can stay close to home. My plan is to dash during the week and Lyft on the weekend this winter. I average 30+/hr on Lyft during the week and 40+ on the weekend, pretty much April through December. It's only good on weekends during the winter. The rest of the year i can make 1k+ in 30hrs or less on Lyft. I think both can be full time employment with a good strategy. I'd be hard pressed to find anything else with the flexibility or making amount of money I make with Lyft. I literally made 1600 in 38hrs a few weeks back. I'd be lucky to make that much with a CDL, especially being home every day.
When I did Uber and lyft, I made more than my son who is an employee of the state and makes 6 figures. Becauae he has to pay into the officers retirement fund and all that other stuff and mine was just mine.

Then maybe you need to tip ALOT better. It’s customers who lie and are too cheap who are the biggest problem.
Please.
Exactly!!!
For real!
6 or 7 bad offers in fact! So busy!

😂
How about just paying a reasonable minimum per order? My AR hit zero% yesterday. I spend half my day rejecting disgusting insults. How is this an efficient or serious manner of doing business? We are supply all the labor and supplying a car, gas, insurance, maintenence, and depreciation of said car. Two dollars? These apps are the most un-serious people I have ever encountered in my journey through this life. And that includes circus clowns, comedians, and politicians.
😅 well said
@tyharris9994 I don't use doordash at all..I have been using grubhub it's not like it used To be but I average almost $20.00 per hour
My AR is zero on both door dash and Uber eats. I get nothing but upside down trash orders all day everyday.
If I were DD I would stop gaslighting drivers over the Acceptance Rate.
That part!
No one wants to take $2 orders 👏🏻
If that.,.
You`re better off getting a security guard job watching a roll-up door or fence while watching movies all night. At least in a security guard overnight position, you`re getting paid a guaranteed wage every day, every week.
I do security and Uber
Point made!
Best job ever, and I'll never do anything else!
Another reason, they say go to Shaws or Stop and Shop, for 1 item, and you get there and it's a trunk full with 2 cases of water..
Last week was the end for me. Goodbye to all gig apps! Hope you all have better luck in your metro
Give the instructions HAnd it to me instead of leaving at the door and that will solve your problems.
Sorry to hear that.
I want to make a few suggestions:
Get a unique door mat, make sure your apt./house numbers are legible, make sure your door/address is well lit and add special instructions in the app.
Also maybe ask them to call or text you upon arrival.
The app. shows the driver a picture of your front door and also all of the special instructions.
Just leave a bad review, they will know next time.
But don't forget to leave a good review if someone delivered the way you asked.
Uber Eats Has hit an all time low. I’m up to platinum status and can barely make $10 an hour.
Same here
What area are you in because I hate Uber Eats but sometimes I make in one night over $150 doing it but 50 goes back in my gas tank so yeah I make 100 lol.
That should show you that Platinum status isn’t worth 💩.
Same here in Scotland can’t make any decent money anymore. The apps are all the same it’s done. I will be leaving to start a new job soon. Great vid thx
Yeah, I don't pay that "It's busy" mess no mind. I do my routine times, and I'm done
The first couple times I received those messages I was running out the door! Not any more, I know better.
Yeah, I know better now as well especially after watching this video.
Same here
I ran out one time when I got an "It's busy" message. It takes me a few minutes to get to town because I live in the country. I sat for 45 minutes because it was no longer busy. At least now that I'm platinum I don't have that issue anymore. I have learned what times are usually busy though and only dash during those times.
It's because u don't know how the system works, I make 20 to 30$ an hour using Uber eats, but I can't tell u the secret, figure out
I'm going through the same thing as a door dash driver..and I agree with you 100 percent.
ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TIPS?
I got kicked off of UberEats cuz they were getting reports (bogus) that I was stealing food! Ridiculous!
Side gig i hope? No one can live off Uber. Not even if they live with their mommy and daddy

I just got offered a $3.75 double order: two different restaurants, two different houses. I declined.
I got the same thing for $3 and 7.5 miles one way! 🤦♀️
That's gross. Two people tipped less than one dollar and the app thought you'd want to do both.
Good grief
I was offered $2.75 for two different pick ups from Pizza Hut yesterday. The total miles was over 3!! I clicked decline so fast lol 😂

As a 70 yr old falling at a delivery today after drop off, missed step down the walkway, lost my balance. Wow I can get up fast when you’re embarrassed in their front yard 😂. Maybe it’s time to quit 🥺🤷🏻♀️
Take your time going down the steps. Use a small flash lite at nite. Becareful.😊
Oh no, I hope you're okay!

Drivers have nothing to do with the freshness of the food
@ianntharoseberry7508 I know that, I was saying if I was a Dasher, which I'm not and I'm not being paid well and I'm picking up hot fresh food, it might be tempting to eat
DD Pays 2 dollars....2 DOLLARS🤬
We get paid decent it's a game have to decline orders that don't make sense. Also customers that report non delivery is what screws us up I have not experienced this yet no fraud yet I've only ha da few tips. Uber eats when you order food for delivery asks for tip up front
@vcooper8992 oh no
Door Dash used to pay $5 base per delivery I think. Now they're splitting the profit and taking the money for themselves. Looks like paying only $1 per mile now 😂😂😂 Door Dash founder went to Stanford just to learn how to steal
Dd is def hard to pull in good $, I can make 1k a week rather easy but would take 50 hours minimum in my market,. Which is Richmond Va
Your reading of Doordash is accurate. I will not take a job where the money is not at least double the mileage. As a result I quit dashing. No money anymore.
I hope you make some money out of your channel. Good luck!
Meanwhile 12 rolls of bounty are $40 at a wholesale club
Around here they are a lot cheaper than that from a regular store.
I worked my butt off and finally got my AR up to 80 and my orders to 100 so since I have been platinum I’ve getting amazing orders I was out yesterday for 2 hours and made $74
Great news
Yeah I’m a patina dasher too and was out 45 hours and made 200$ u gotta accept all dashes even the shitty ones
- deduct your gas cost
-deduct cost of wear on your car
-deduct approx 25-30% for taxes and social security.
-deduct cost if purchasing additional “gig” auto insurance
Divide the deducted figure by the amount of hours you spent on the app- NOT the active time.
Tax and expenses are definitely not that much
That will not be accurate.
Definitely agree that this is not a full time job they ruined it we use our car and gas we should be properly compensated
People can be so crappy! To tip just 2.00 for someone to go to a location and then bring you food , no matter how far they have to travel, is 💩💩
I'm still not convinced DD isn't stealing tips.
It's weird that I make almost exactly $20 per hour for the night almost to the penny.
And DD keeps your tips up to 30 days wth

What's crazy is the Big Corp always benefits in the end

Thanks for being honest! Your worth a lot
That's what I do
Yes, Doordash obviously wants illegals instead of Americans to work for them. The majority of the dashers in my area I run into don't speak English since they reduced how much we make by 1/3 in the spring. I thought it must be over saturated but I keep getting messages they want me to refer people for a bonus

Hey Mike do you know why this video was at 130k views but now it at 75k? Like how is it losing views?
New dashes get the goods old dashes get the junk
Nothing less than $5, and if that it can't be more than 3 miles
5 for 3 is STILL trash tbh.
The chef’s kiss is the ad I got for this video is recruiting new dashers 😂
😆🤣🤣 oh man
😂
Its beyond me why anyone still doing DD! The purpose of having a side hustle is to spend a few hours to make some money. NOT to spend a few hours sitting in your car wasting time not making money!
@kittykay8015 She does it because it makes her money off of doing youtube videos. ( nothing wrong with doing that) because no person with any common sense would do this job.
@@johnj8840it's slave labor, and unfortunately doordash preys on desperate people who lack common sense
Delivery services were most profitable during the pandemic.
At the very least it would HELP make some trips make SOME sense instead of giving you trash offers you end up messing up your AR.
.90 cents a mile is a joke you realize most won’t take anything nowadays unless it’s $2.00 a mile
I agree. People ordering food over 5mi from restaurant need to Pay Up! I'm sick of these $9 for 10mi crap
@@menards23ableI think he's saying base pay $3 plus 90c a mile. Then a 5 mile order is $7.50 min before tip
$1.5 - $2 per mile would also work as a flat rate regardless of tips.
I hate when the map is red and when you log on it says 13-23 min lol!
@@vikings7683 where u making $30+ an hour
I like your strategy. How has Spark been?
You do not have to pay extra for another 1099, they all get added together, and you pay one price. So does not matter if you have 20 different 1099 jobs, price is the same for 1 or 20, makes no difference.
Depends ehere you go@@vikings7683
Thanks for pointing that out. @@vikings7683
Yes restaurants used to hire their own drivers that was better
And this is y I don't order thru DD I seen all the fees they tag on
I have not done any of those delivery apps in a long time, good to know i'm not missing out on anything
Hey Lady , well at least you've got good weather ! All we can do is get ready to go out and hope we have a good day .Have a good night .
People that order that don't tip flat out don't deserve anything
That's why i never pay for unnecessary services
The customer shouldn't have to pay the whole thing though...
Platinum is a joke, no need to try to get it
See I thought I had only noticed this. They definitely bate you false miles to destination
I get it, I dash on the side also but I do have a full time job that I've been at for 12 years. When I get the little $2 orders to go 5 miles or further, I decline them. I feel like Door Dash can do better!
I also do this as a supplement to my primary income. I don't think I could even attempt it as a first job.
I feel for people that have to.
In North Carolina, we don't see how much money we’ll receive before accepting the order, and customers often don't tip, which is also frustrating.
I've been done for over two months. Still make 💰 with Spark, Roadie and Shipt. Stay safe
Doordash is just adding a fee to the food order and people are not going to keep buying if their meal cost keeps going up.
they also use customers tips to offset what door dash pays you .
Yeh I was trying it in my spare time very low orders been declining most , I think the people who have done the best were consistent 🚗
Im a Dasher with over 4322 miles And You are right On the money with everything, i do Uber now And its not enough gas For that. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
But according to Tony, we can open an orphanage with the $2 DoorDash pays us! 😂
7am to 1pm is THE BEST time to Dash. Took me 2 damn years to figure this out lol... Rock solid $100 to $125 daily ever since. (6 to 7 hours usually)
The sad part is us customers are overcharged on the food, which doesnt even include the fees and the obligated tip. None of us win besides the greedy companies.
Your telling the truth I just came back to door dash. I have only done two orders and got about 20.00
Yeah Florida seem like a shitty ass market lol
Do you know if you go to help section of DD app and see the rating requirements, it still shows completion rate or 80% isn’t it supposed to be 90%?
It's not just you...they send out these disgusting low paying offers hoping someone is stupid enough to take it. While they are making billions off our car and time.
I do DoorDash full-time have been for 10+ years. I make a minimum of $23hr now. I work when want where I want. Never have I only made $8hr unless I sat and kept declining order after order.
Wow good information. Thank you
Nah I Spark now ... been quit DD and UE
Yep, and it won't be that busy. I don't sit longer than 5 min. I'm glad they improved their proof system.
If I owned DD I would definitely pay the drivers way more and this not paying on two deliveries is ridiculous
You are completely right !! That's why I quit. It's a great video, thank you.
Btw... New Tampa area.
My last or took 2 hours smd still didn't get it.... 5 Dashers and no message why they leave.... What does it look like if one vant message of thete is a problem?
Now when you report a store is closed they automatically want you to unassign yourself with no pay. 🤦🏾♀️
I'm so glad doordash rejecting my app. That's crazy!!
I just needed to spend $1200 fixing my car. This job puts WAY to much wear and tear on your car.
That’s why you teach yourself how to fix your car. I’ve saved thousands fixing mine myself
@@Jake1chaplin Wish I could.
I do most of my deliveries on a bicycle. I am in better shape. Only take my car on the longer distances ones that are worth my gas and time.
I quit because every time it says it's busy my timeframe to work is only 30 minutes to an hour
I quit having delivery and just go and do take out. Dominos adds 4.99 delivery charge plus they expect a tip for their overpriced food.
Im a platinum dasher and make my $100 and go home working from 11-5 and it is my only job and does well.
I haven’t been making that much money lately with DoorDash , there has been so many small orders even when it says it’s busy
That sucks. Maybe they need to pay an hourly rate like waitressing.
Many stores or companies that started on Amazon ended up taking their stuff off of Amazon due to dishonest returns.
