My opinion: Merc (Might Aura): - shaeled/15/40jwl reapers toll - treachery - 15ias jewel Andariels You‘ll have decrepify everywhere, everytime Barb Gear: -Laying Hands -Grief/beast or death/beast (Rest is the Same as cooley has) Even in Max Roll Charakter Planer, you will have the Highest dps Output. Only 2xdeath would be better. But it Feels so Slow in Chaos when you get decrepified. Also youll Need nosferatus belt to wear. Idk what to think about the Last wish / Grief - faith Merc Build. All Stats on Max Roll Planer tells me Not to do this 😅 Even tho, nice Video 👍🏻
My first character was a hybrid barb which i still uses and he can't die and he can kill everything. The difference is i use phase blades for faster hits and destruction instead of last wish, then i use string of ears as belt and 1 raven + 1 bk5 ring so i can put shael in my arreat for the 50% FHR breakpoint. IMO that is the most optimal pvm setup for hybrid. Oh and i have 1 hard point into battle cry for lowering enemys defence
How do I build my barbarians? They're how I know it's a mule. Been doing it for 20 years. Just a stable full of 'em. They have great names, too, like Muleio, Muletwo, NotaDrugMule, etc.

cant believe llama ended up as the "lord of diablo" pre resurrected he wasnt as popular among the ones you named and he has always been a little fruity to me. Guess hard work and timing pays off!
What is even better is zerk/ww/frenzy hybrid. Just add 1 point in Frenzy. With +skills it's enough to give you amazing speed boost, both on attack speed (to get to max breakpoint with zerk) and to movement speed. Just keep refreshing Frenzy charge before it ends. You can fly through maps while WWing in between. No need for Enigma. You can run Fortitude/CoH instead.

Pretty much the only build that makes the barb competitive. Name locking telestomp is what every pvp barb needs to master. Zerk kills faster than ww but you need ww for match up against druid cuz of his pets.
Barb has been my main for over 20 years. Almost always just run dual-wield ww but I’ve ran werewolf barb and zerker and throw and pretty much everything but yell barb.
Barb has (more or less) always been the main in Diablo 2 from the beginnings. As everybody I also had a barb when I was like 12 years old with a bigass sword and tons of defense :P
I have a dual grief hybrid barb for trav running. 1 pt into the typical 1 pt wonders and 1pt in berserker is good enough. Then max bo, mastery, ww, and find potion. Dump enough pts into find item to hit 70% then the rest into howl.
1)Laying of Hands>Steelrends for pvm 2)Spirit+hoto>hoto+hoto for tele switch(bcs of 55fhr + extra blocking) 3)Small charms > any grand charms for barbs, including war cry gcs, anyday, for any build pvp/pvm. War cry skillers only to be used as pre buff
I think all 3 of these points are wrong. I have tried laying of hands vs perfect steelrends on many runs. The steelrends do more damage overall in practical situations because not everything is a demon and most demons die very quickly anyway. For instance you will one shot them either way with ww, but non demons will not be one shot unless you have steelrends sometimes. Hoto+Hoto is required for fastest teleporting with this build, the fhr and blocking does not matter at all. Of course I only run one FCR dual/leech ring (with raven frost for cbf so u can run G face or arreats with 40/9 jewel). The charms point is maybe correct if you have perfect small charms but this is unlikely. Also with myown extensive testing I believe that running 1-3 +1 Mastery/40+ life Grand Charms outputs more damage due to the increase in minimum damage than using those same slots for max damage charms.

I always enjoyed making 2 hand ww barbs. Sometimes my attack frame was 1 lower than the best frame but I feel how hard I hit makes up for it. Always able to clear chaos in a few minutes and kill diablo in about 5 seconds. My hardest hitter used eth thunder maul botd, with 11k ar and 19k ww damage
@@ggd2mf603 the gear was, arreats helm, highlords amulet, eth tmaul botd, enigma, 2x raven frost rings, and three piece ik(gloves, belt, boots) inventory was random strength charms and AR charms Also, I forgot to mention, I invested about 120 points in to str for more damage, the damage could be increased even further with more points invested in to strength. On this build I was keeping pvp in consideration and wanted a heavy investment in vitality
i run a classic barb. use a 39ias grief cb fort and stormshield 2x lacerators in swap. max sword mastery ww bo iron skin. 1 point to taunt 1 to double throw 1 throw mastery. max block. haven't dueled much with him. destroys bow zons and bvcs of course as long as the bvc don't catch me throwing. beat a tal sorc. got destroyed by a nova sorc with an infinity. got destroyed by a poison nova vampire somehow not sure what he was doing. haven't tried the lacerators yet in duels was using bo weapons they came in handy vs a hammerdin. the lacerators work well in pvm though.
Right now I have a trav zerker running max block. I like WW better, but I only have one grief so far (SSF), so I had to abandon WW after the broken weapon glitch was fixed. I hate using potions, so max block is the way to go for me
So, anyone else feeling like the changes to WW did two-hander builds kind of dirty? Between losing a frame, reducing damage at high +skills, and being affected by chill/decrepify? Not to mention that your BiS gearing has become yet another "equip all the usual melee gear"
Barbs have always been good caster killers. Open Wounds dmg is dependent on cLvl iirc, so that'll become a very efficient way of whittling people down as you hit the mid to high 90s.
My opinion is that laying of hands is inferior because while there are mostly demons in sanctuary, they tend to have lower health pools and ww one shots them either way, whereas it does not one shot non demons unless you have steelrends. I've tested this quite a bit in chaos and baal runs and I think steelrends are superior and feel better to play with, granted mine were 60/20s and almost every piece of gear was also perfect except my griefs which were 396s.
@thefitstoic I still believe this to be true. The only thing I changed since then to maximize damage would be using a couple mastery grand charms instead of all max dmg gcs for the increased minimum damage.
Berserk is always been op,and in classic ww, these were the 2 most used skills for a Executioner build in d2 classic, build died off since they ruined ww,and the release of damage reduction gear finished it off, your most common gear was bonesnap giant skull steel rend and plenty of other rare gear that also complemented the crushing blow gear
For the PVM version don't you think it would be better to use Laying of Hands instead of steel rends? Between Gore Riders and Last Wish you already have ~75% crushing blow. 300% enhanced damage vs demons is a lot better than having 10% higher crushing blow. I would actually replace Gore Riders with War Travs (which is what my barb uses) because the ~45% magic find would be more useful than 15% crushing blow. I have the unpopular opinion that insanely high crushing blow isn't that useful in PVM outside of Baal and Uber tristram, but I also magic find solo, so make of it what you will.
I run a Pole arm Barb that uses laying of hands , gore riders ,and a Duress ornate plate .. Using a double shael rune Bonehew for bosses/ubers and a socketed Tomb Reaver for MF . Prevent monster heal / open wounds > crushing blow imo for solo online players like me .
i play offline, so i have to actually find my stuff instead of buying it. so my barbarian doesnt really have any fancy equipment, because i'm not spending 100 hours trying to find magical stuff, whatever i find i use. but i did notice a considerable increase in power once i hit level 30......and it was because of whirlwind. my barbarian is dual wielding swords. one has mana leech the other hp leech, and i got two hp leech rings. the amulate is +1 barbarian skills. one of the sowrds is +3 whirlwind i think the helm is +2 shouts. i dont have that many points spent in whirlwind, i spent just enough in maxing the resistances(started nightmare) and about +100% defense and trying to max sword mastery. also got a few points in the 3 main shouts for self-buff. the strategy is super simple. whirlwind carefully, if running out of mana use concentrated strike(not sure if that's the name of the skill), and gain a bit more mana, then back to whirlwind.
I did some old school d2 dueling in the summer leading up to d2rs release and wow i had no idea how deep the pvp went, and barbarians are eeeeeexpeeennnssiiiive, the goal is to have your entire inventory full of 3/20/20 small charms...ive played d2 for 10k hours atleast and never found a single one...i rolled over 200 griefs trying to get a perfect one. If you were to try and buy a perfect pvp barb you're looking at 10 thousand dollars atleast. Then you get into rare druid pelts and assasin claws etc..... you could EASILY play d2 for 100k hours and not have any pvp character near perfect at all.
Be nice if they had a cube recipe for any white weapon + zod rune + standard of heroes makes the item keep its existing properties ie. 5os 15%ed 3 ar zerker axe also allowing it to become a "runeword" now gains: Indestructible, would solve alot of the issues with melee in this game in terms of weapon choices, not a perfect solution but would make a big difference.
So you could then have an indestructible Last Wish/Beast Berserker Axe combo in 15ed/15%id bases? I would use my Zod runes in a heartbeat, then. I really feel like they half-assed the whole cube recipes thing, there is a lot of potential for cube recipes and other things that they for whatever reason decided not to touch on. I feel like they could add some more end-game content too like maybe a mode after Hell Mode, or maybe ubers for an upgraded torch or Annihilus charm that requires 3 different character classes to be able to beat. Scratch that, a Grand Charm version of Torch and Anni that gives +3 all skills, 30 all attributes, 30 all res, and 15% experience and maybe some damage reduction. You know, things like that. Or they could stop hating on Project Diablo 2 and make their game at least half-way similar to that awesome mod, giving it updates and new content every season while not retracting too far from what Diablo 2 is.
@@Nervii_Champion agree on the cube recipes, they could definitely make more! and there is a lot of interesting ways they could take it. yeah eth indestructible bases would be huge to close the dps gap with grief, Path has some interesting takes on the way diablo can be but I feel like copying is not the way to go, they should do something new/unique.
@@TheSwaGGerFM they should make every item in the game have a corresponding unique, so people can make more builds. Make a unique Colossus Sword, Diamond Mail, Loricated Mail, Crystalline Globe, etc. Unique Scissors Suwayyah and Suwayyah for new Assassin builds, things like that. They should make a unique Kuraast Shield or Sacred Rondache that has lightning pierce and damage on it for FoH or Holy Shock Paladins. Things like that, just make uniques for all the items in the game, so many items don't have a unique version.
"Melee Necromancer so OP! Just need double white rings!" That's always been my problem with Barbarians: to be godly they require gear investment that would make literally any build effective. It is something amazing to work towards but once you have it, you have beaten the game. Would be nice to see a beginner Barbarian build, like a decent Trav/Pindle Horker that doesn't start with "okay, first you need 70,000 FG worth of runes."
Unbending Will and Oath are good budget alternatives if you can't afford a Grief, but there is nothing better than Grief unfortunately. Trav & Pindle are definitely the spots you want to farm if you don't have Enigma. I think Trav is the best farming spot in the game, so you should be all set if you can farm there. I find Trav easy with a WW barb because I load up on life leech & get enough mana with only 3% mana leech. Berserk barbs probably need much better gear since they can't leech.
@@slowbro13215 I tried unbending will for a trav barb this ladder, and it was a little underwhelming. The runs took long enough that my merc might die. But I was fine in trav on a zerker using oath, rhyme, Ik helm, wealth armor, infernostride, dwarf star, angelic ring, angelic amulet, goldwrap, loh glove. Dual lem’d Ali babas on swap for hork. Packed just under 300 mf on kill side and just under 400 mf on hork side with tons of extra gold.

Perf topaz’ed ik helmet Shael’ed Najs armor Noko ammy Grief zweihander Rhyme Hyperion Najs staff on back up for tele and when using item find (2 parts of Najs set adds mf) Manald Heal Nagel ring Crafted CCB gloves Gores or war travs String of ears belt Mainly mf council and chaos
I like Grief / Azurewrath for CS / WSK as Sanctuary aura breaks immunity on undead and it provides huge dmg boost against this type of enemies. I also use Warcry instead of Howl to stun enemies and roll over them. And inventory is full of sc / gc with dmg / ar / life
Just a quick update: Dual grief is better, but at least there are some decent alternatives. I really wish they'd buff other weapons to match Grief dominance. Nerfing Grief is stupid idea as melee is already B tier.
This looks like a really strong setup and high dmg, but from a magic find perspective is that necessary or is it better to sacrifice some dmg in order to have increased MF with something like a 6os pb with 6 ists for example
This is the best barb build video out there, finally someone showing Zerkers. For PvM I run Act 2 Might Merc with Pride with Dual Death or Death/Beast and dmg output is the best it's been since 1.09. I spec hybrid WW/Frenzy/Berserk to counter Phys Immune,Holy Freeze and Decrep.
I have a grief phantasmal blade and now another 5 socket phantasmal base, so I contemplate to build another grief or death. What do you think? Last Wish and BOTD are out of the question with my tiny budget.
I prefer Dracs over Steelrend personally. Slamming a Cham into arreats feels bad too. Ravenfrost is a good ring with its boost to dex and AR though you’d sacrifice your FCR breakpoint, I just feel it’s better to UM or even 15ias 15 res jewel the arreats.
Griefpb is mandatory for pvm now because decrep and holy freeze slow your attack speed down now. Other weapon bases get slowed down way too much while pbs drop to 5frames at worst.
Frenzy and King Slayer are both under rated as well in my opinion. I got 2 griefs but throw on a pair of deals and you can literally chop down anything (non physical imune) by holding a button. Currently leveling my barb to 97 as enigma is right around the corner.
@@chobocolin my merc is just the old school eth thresher insight eth fortitude Andy's visage... my build is g face, chains of honor or fortitude, 2 griefs, 2 raven frost, nosforatu belt, g riders, the life tap gloves.
I still wish they'd buff frenzy and make it do a small bit of splash damage.. Frenzy is by far the most fun to use and feels the most correct for the barbarian archetype.
Hey Coooley good video, question, i was thinking could it not be good to use the Brand bow on the PvM version or is the Faiths Fanatism aura better than 35% chance to proc Amp dmg
Brand casts Amp when 'struck' and since it's a bow and used on Act 1 mercenary (who is very evasive and avoids getting hit) it's not the best combination/item to use. A good option though is ethereal reaper's toll on an act 2 might mercenary so you get the decrepify and might. Or using a Pride runeword on an act 2 might mercenary so you get the concentration aura and the might.
Currently having a frenzy barb on single player, got lucky enough to drop 2 Lo's with my sorc in runs and made a PB grief and AP Fort. Found a Doombringer as my off hand. Pretty farfetched for me to hope for a LW anytime soon with the insane rune you have to find, but im thinking now of changing this barb into a hybrid ww/berserk build... hmm..
Before enigma on SSF would you suggest this build over frenzy? I have A5 merc with hustle and Lawbringer My main is grief PB and Oath eth CS Armor is COH. I've been doing frenzy P3 chaos, and then p7 Diablo.

The problem with that kind of build, is that you already defeated the game loot-wise. There is no really much point at farming anymore. D2 is in true need of an actual end game that can justify even more farm. Else this is pointless.
long story short, offhand grief is better for whirlwind but doesn't do anything for berserk. So depending on your priorities u can do dual grief, also a stormshield would make you tanky af without compromising berserk, just whirlwind wouldn't be super strong.
BoTD, Death, another Grief or Beast theese are some options for off hand, since you use faith on merc (if you don't want to use it) go with beast in off hand. However PvM wise its better with Swords and maxing out sword mastery instead of running axes, so keep the beast out of it since you will use Faith on merc, you can also just use a 6os PB or BA with 6 Ist in off hand. Stormshield with a Phase blade Grief should do the job done with this build also.
Are you actually able to leech life when you have last wish. The blind target prevents life steal it seems for me. Can't get any life from the whirlwind
I'm wanting to make an item find barb for ladder s2. What are some things I should be looking for and spec ing into at begining lvl? I'm wanting to be a fast boss killer that can take on d-clone. Figured I could just use howl on the adds lol.
I put the PVM build into Maxroll and compared it with dual griefs and an act 2 merc. The act 2 with Pride does almost twice as much DPS with dual griefs vs the act 1 merc with lastwish and Faith. I also compared grief last wish with the act 2 merc. It's a wasted extra might aura but it still did more dps than the act 1 merc with Faith with the crushing blow added from Last wish. Am I missing something from the build? It does feel nice to use a different Merc for once.
I also use Gface instead of Arreats and max find potion instead of Berzerk and Howl. All remining points go into Berzerk and I haven't noticed much of a difference since I only zerk immunes.

Exellent video as usual but I do have to say that the screen flashing between each transition makes me feel like someone has set off a flashbang in my room. Really annoying.
The whole point of berserk is to kill phys immune mobs. You can 1 point Frenzy for the movespeed if you don't mind the swapping if you're somewhat lucky with + to skills for late game. As you level you wont be using berserk very much until Hell. Other than that, Frenzy is mostly terrible. I could see it for normal and nightmare but hell without Berserk is very limiting as to where you can go and what you can do.
@@MasterJohnam you still have one point in berserk for physical monsters obviously. You put frenzy on rmb and only put one or a few points. It works really well with ww as your main attack. Thanks for mansplaining berserk to me tho haha
i checked the character planner from maxroll, even with the exact same gears, a ww barb has much much higher dps than frenzy and berzerk. what's the most remarkable difference between ww and frenzy in pvm? does ww barb have more build variant cause it requires less skill points to maximize the damage?
Sure let me get my 15 ber runes and my 32 jah runes out of my stash and rock this build. Good video but d2 content creators need to stop talking only about the very best gg gear in the game. Its fine to talk about it but at least introduce us to a budget build first then move up gradually from there. Unless you cheat in single player or with some unnamed website, theres no way anyone will get that kind of gear except for like the 0.001% of players who literally lives on d2 and have an army farming for them.

This is actually my current build on Hardcore - having less points into find item and maxing berserk and ww makes this an awesomely flexible build.
A barb on hardcore, that's pretty brave. I would go with a ranged character or hybrid like Kick/Trap for Hardcore

I have a dual grief hybrid barb for trav running. 1 pt into the typical 1 pt wonders and 1pt in berserker is good enough. Then max bo, mastery, ww, and find potion. Dump enough pts into find item to hit 70% then the rest into howl.
1)Laying of Hands>Steelrends for pvm
2)Spirit+hoto>hoto+hoto for tele switch(bcs of 55fhr + extra blocking)
3)Small charms > any grand charms for barbs, including war cry gcs, anyday, for any build pvp/pvm. War cry skillers only to be used as pre buff
4)enchant urself with demon limb and you shll be a happy barb
I think all 3 of these points are wrong. I have tried laying of hands vs perfect steelrends on many runs. The steelrends do more damage overall in practical situations because not everything is a demon and most demons die very quickly anyway. For instance you will one shot them either way with ww, but non demons will not be one shot unless you have steelrends sometimes. Hoto+Hoto is required for fastest teleporting with this build, the fhr and blocking does not matter at all. Of course I only run one FCR dual/leech ring (with raven frost for cbf so u can run G face or arreats with 40/9 jewel). The charms point is maybe correct if you have perfect small charms but this is unlikely. Also with myown extensive testing I believe that running 1-3 +1 Mastery/40+ life Grand Charms outputs more damage due to the increase in minimum damage than using those same slots for max damage charms.

I always enjoyed making 2 hand ww barbs. Sometimes my attack frame was 1 lower than the best frame but I feel how hard I hit makes up for it. Always able to clear chaos in a few minutes and kill diablo in about 5 seconds. My hardest hitter used eth thunder maul botd, with 11k ar and 19k ww damage

@@ggd2mf603 the gear was, arreats helm, highlords amulet, eth tmaul botd, enigma, 2x raven frost rings, and three piece ik(gloves, belt, boots) inventory was random strength charms and AR charms
Also, I forgot to mention, I invested about 120 points in to str for more damage, the damage could be increased even further with more points invested in to strength. On this build I was keeping pvp in consideration and wanted a heavy investment in vitality
i run a classic barb. use a 39ias grief cb fort and stormshield 2x lacerators in swap. max sword mastery ww bo iron skin. 1 point to taunt 1 to double throw 1 throw mastery. max block. haven't dueled much with him. destroys bow zons and bvcs of course as long as the bvc don't catch me throwing. beat a tal sorc. got destroyed by a nova sorc with an infinity. got destroyed by a poison nova vampire somehow not sure what he was doing. haven't tried the lacerators yet in duels was using bo weapons they came in handy vs a hammerdin. the lacerators work well in pvm though.

Right now I have a trav zerker running max block. I like WW better, but I only have one grief so far (SSF), so I had to abandon WW after the broken weapon glitch was fixed. I hate using potions, so max block is the way to go for me
So, anyone else feeling like the changes to WW did two-hander builds kind of dirty? Between losing a frame, reducing damage at high +skills, and being affected by chill/decrepify? Not to mention that your BiS gearing has become yet another "equip all the usual melee gear"
Barbs have always been good caster killers. Open Wounds dmg is dependent on cLvl iirc, so that'll become a very efficient way of whittling people down as you hit the mid to high 90s.

Why not use laying of hands for this build? Seems good for PVM damage but I'd love to hear your expert opinion
My opinion is that laying of hands is inferior because while there are mostly demons in sanctuary, they tend to have lower health pools and ww one shots them either way, whereas it does not one shot non demons unless you have steelrends. I've tested this quite a bit in chaos and baal runs and I think steelrends are superior and feel better to play with, granted mine were 60/20s and almost every piece of gear was also perfect except my griefs which were 396s.

@thefitstoic I still believe this to be true. The only thing I changed since then to maximize damage would be using a couple mastery grand charms instead of all max dmg gcs for the increased minimum damage.

Berserk is always been op,and in classic ww, these were the 2 most used skills for a Executioner build in d2 classic, build died off since they ruined ww,and the release of damage reduction gear finished it off, your most common gear was bonesnap giant skull steel rend and plenty of other rare gear that also complemented the crushing blow gear
For the PVM version don't you think it would be better to use Laying of Hands instead of steel rends? Between Gore Riders and Last Wish you already have ~75% crushing blow. 300% enhanced damage vs demons is a lot better than having 10% higher crushing blow. I would actually replace Gore Riders with War Travs (which is what my barb uses) because the ~45% magic find would be more useful than 15% crushing blow.
I have the unpopular opinion that insanely high crushing blow isn't that useful in PVM outside of Baal and Uber tristram, but I also magic find solo, so make of it what you will.
That high crushing blow is everything on /players3+
I run a Pole arm Barb that uses laying of hands , gore riders ,and a Duress ornate plate .. Using a double shael rune Bonehew for bosses/ubers and a socketed Tomb Reaver for MF . Prevent monster heal / open wounds > crushing blow imo for solo online players like me .
i play offline, so i have to actually find my stuff instead of buying it.
so my barbarian doesnt really have any fancy equipment, because i'm not spending 100 hours trying to find magical stuff, whatever i find i use.
but i did notice a considerable increase in power once i hit level 30......and it was because of whirlwind.
my barbarian is dual wielding swords.
one has mana leech the other hp leech, and i got two hp leech rings.
the amulate is +1 barbarian skills.
one of the sowrds is +3 whirlwind
i think the helm is +2 shouts.
i dont have that many points spent in whirlwind, i spent just enough in maxing the resistances(started nightmare) and about +100% defense and trying to max sword mastery.
also got a few points in the 3 main shouts for self-buff.
the strategy is super simple.
whirlwind carefully, if running out of mana use concentrated strike(not sure if that's the name of the skill), and gain a bit more mana, then back to whirlwind.
I did some old school d2 dueling in the summer leading up to d2rs release and wow i had no idea how deep the pvp went, and barbarians are eeeeeexpeeennnssiiiive, the goal is to have your entire inventory full of 3/20/20 small charms...ive played d2 for 10k hours atleast and never found a single one...i rolled over 200 griefs trying to get a perfect one. If you were to try and buy a perfect pvp barb you're looking at 10 thousand dollars atleast. Then you get into rare druid pelts and assasin claws etc..... you could EASILY play d2 for 100k hours and not have any pvp character near perfect at all.

Damage is the only reason. Zerker Axes give the most!

I started playing Diablo when I was 14, some 26 years ago, and D2 LOD is still the best of the best **muah** IMO.

makes the item keep its existing properties ie. 5os 15%ed 3 ar zerker axe also allowing it to become a "runeword"
now gains: Indestructible, would solve alot of the issues with melee in this game in terms of weapon choices, not a perfect solution but would make a big difference.
So you could then have an indestructible Last Wish/Beast Berserker Axe combo in 15ed/15%id bases? I would use my Zod runes in a heartbeat, then. I really feel like they half-assed the whole cube recipes thing, there is a lot of potential for cube recipes and other things that they for whatever reason decided not to touch on. I feel like they could add some more end-game content too like maybe a mode after Hell Mode, or maybe ubers for an upgraded torch or Annihilus charm that requires 3 different character classes to be able to beat. Scratch that, a Grand Charm version of Torch and Anni that gives +3 all skills, 30 all attributes, 30 all res, and 15% experience and maybe some damage reduction.
You know, things like that. Or they could stop hating on Project Diablo 2 and make their game at least half-way similar to that awesome mod, giving it updates and new content every season while not retracting too far from what Diablo 2 is.

yeah eth indestructible bases would be huge to close the dps gap with grief, Path has some interesting takes on the way diablo can be but I feel like copying is not the way to go, they should do something new/unique.

Make a unique Colossus Sword, Diamond Mail, Loricated Mail, Crystalline Globe, etc. Unique Scissors Suwayyah and Suwayyah for new Assassin builds, things like that.
They should make a unique Kuraast Shield or Sacred Rondache that has lightning pierce and damage on it for FoH or Holy Shock Paladins. Things like that, just make uniques for all the items in the game, so many items don't have a unique version.

That's always been my problem with Barbarians: to be godly they require gear investment that would make literally any build effective. It is something amazing to work towards but once you have it, you have beaten the game. Would be nice to see a beginner Barbarian build, like a decent Trav/Pindle Horker that doesn't start with "okay, first you need 70,000 FG worth of runes."
Unbending Will and Oath are good budget alternatives if you can't afford a Grief, but there is nothing better than Grief unfortunately. Trav & Pindle are definitely the spots you want to farm if you don't have Enigma. I think Trav is the best farming spot in the game, so you should be all set if you can farm there. I find Trav easy with a WW barb because I load up on life leech & get enough mana with only 3% mana leech. Berserk barbs probably need much better gear since they can't leech.
@@slowbro13215 I tried unbending will for a trav barb this ladder, and it was a little underwhelming. The runs took long enough that my merc might die.
But I was fine in trav on a zerker using oath, rhyme, Ik helm, wealth armor, infernostride, dwarf star, angelic ring, angelic amulet, goldwrap, loh glove. Dual lem’d Ali babas on swap for hork. Packed just under 300 mf on kill side and just under 400 mf on hork side with tons of extra gold.

I like Grief / Azurewrath for CS / WSK as Sanctuary aura breaks immunity on undead and it provides huge dmg boost against this type of enemies. I also use Warcry instead of Howl to stun enemies and roll over them. And inventory is full of sc / gc with dmg / ar / life
have you ever use law bringers instead of azurewrath?

Just a quick update: Dual grief is better, but at least there are some decent alternatives. I really wish they'd buff other weapons to match Grief dominance. Nerfing Grief is stupid idea as melee is already B tier.
Yup. A1 merc is the best imo in terms of A.I. Had so much success while doing Mephisto runs. She stood still and shot. Lol. She got the memo.

The rate at which BAs break is absolutely insane. I use Grief and Beast BAs, and you have to repair after like a single Chaos run, even in 1P.

This looks like a really strong setup and high dmg, but from a magic find perspective is that necessary or is it better to sacrifice some dmg in order to have increased MF with something like a 6os pb with 6 ists for example
Used to be hard to beat a fully decked out pitzerker, but i guess with terror zones whatever can clear that on the highest /players setting wins

This is the best barb build video out there, finally someone showing Zerkers. For PvM I run Act 2 Might Merc with Pride with Dual Death or Death/Beast and dmg output is the best it's been since 1.09. I spec hybrid WW/Frenzy/Berserk to counter Phys Immune,Holy Freeze and Decrep.
If you have a Faith mercenary for the IAS, you can use ethereal Death berserker axe and it kills a little faster than Grief
i run almost perf death and botd eth BA's, and its better imho with 2/20fcr 2 soc helm 15/38ed
If you have played D2 your whole life, and have not built a pitzerker, take my advice and please do it!!! They are the best
Whirlwind is the most fun and unique for me
I have a grief phantasmal blade and now another 5 socket phantasmal base, so I contemplate to build another grief or death. What do you think? Last Wish and BOTD are out of the question with my tiny budget.
I prefer Dracs over Steelrend personally. Slamming a Cham into arreats feels bad too. Ravenfrost is a good ring with its boost to dex and AR though you’d sacrifice your FCR breakpoint, I just feel it’s better to UM or even 15ias 15 res jewel the arreats.

Griefpb is mandatory for pvm now because decrep and holy freeze slow your attack speed down now. Other weapon bases get slowed down way too much while pbs drop to 5frames at worst.
Would you have a recommendation if we can't afford a Last Wish?

Frenzy and King Slayer are both under rated as well in my opinion. I got 2 griefs but throw on a pair of deals and you can literally chop down anything (non physical imune) by holding a button. Currently leveling my barb to 97 as enigma is right around the corner.

I still wish they'd buff frenzy and make it do a small bit of splash damage..
Frenzy is by far the most fun to use and feels the most correct for the barbarian archetype.
Love the hybrid build, basically you can farm everywhere.
No its garbage, you can farm anywhere with Zerker its just you target bosses. and use concentrate for the magic immunes

Hey Coooley good video, question, i was thinking could it not be good to use the Brand bow on the PvM version or is the Faiths Fanatism aura better than 35% chance to proc Amp dmg
Brand casts Amp when 'struck' and since it's a bow and used on Act 1 mercenary (who is very evasive and avoids getting hit) it's not the best combination/item to use. A good option though is ethereal reaper's toll on an act 2 might mercenary so you get the decrepify and might. Or using a Pride runeword on an act 2 might mercenary so you get the concentration aura and the might.
I just slap wolf barb gear on my pitzerker whenever I want to take a break from pit/pindle, and do some CS/Baal

Currently having a frenzy barb on single player, got lucky enough to drop 2 Lo's with my sorc in runs and made a PB grief and AP Fort. Found a Doombringer as my off hand. Pretty farfetched for me to hope for a LW anytime soon with the insane rune you have to find, but im thinking now of changing this barb into a hybrid ww/berserk build... hmm..
Azurewrath is quite nice also, if you don't mind you ghosties being pushed away

No. Grief is the only viable weapon now in pvm. The changes have nerfed all ww set ups besides grief because its so good.

Reaper's toll merc = 2x phys damage, including crushing blow, because hell monsters and bosses have 50% DR.

Based on what i've seen, the barbarian can pump out almost 170k dmg under BiS gear and merc.
The problem with that kind of build, is that you already defeated the game loot-wise. There is no really much point at farming anymore. D2 is in true need of an actual end game that can justify even more farm. Else this is pointless.
Yeah by the time you're using Last Wish why even mf anymore. The game is over.
If you are doing a holy grail, having a maxed out barb build is essential for horking out those uniques.
Farming is boring af. D2's end game is pvp.

What if you can't afford Last Wish on the pvm build? Just run with 2xgriefs?
long story short, offhand grief is better for whirlwind but doesn't do anything for berserk. So depending on your priorities u can do dual grief, also a stormshield would make you tanky af without compromising berserk, just whirlwind wouldn't be super strong.
BoTD, Death, another Grief or Beast theese are some options for off hand, since you use faith on merc (if you don't want to use it) go with beast in off hand.
However PvM wise its better with Swords and maxing out sword mastery instead of running axes, so keep the beast out of it since you will use Faith on merc, you can also just use a 6os PB or BA with 6 Ist in off hand.
Stormshield with a Phase blade Grief should do the job done with this build also.
Try azure, if you desire added damage. Its budget and offers some unique PvM dynamics, especially with the aura.

Are you actually able to leech life when you have last wish. The blind target prevents life steal it seems for me. Can't get any life from the whirlwind
I'm wanting to make an item find barb for ladder s2. What are some things I should be looking for and spec ing into at begining lvl? I'm wanting to be a fast boss killer that can take on d-clone. Figured I could just use howl on the adds lol.

I put the PVM build into Maxroll and compared it with dual griefs and an act 2 merc. The act 2 with Pride does almost twice as much DPS with dual griefs vs the act 1 merc with lastwish and Faith. I also compared grief last wish with the act 2 merc. It's a wasted extra might aura but it still did more dps than the act 1 merc with Faith with the crushing blow added from Last wish. Am I missing something from the build? It does feel nice to use a different Merc for once.
I also use Gface instead of Arreats and max find potion instead of Berzerk and Howl. All remining points go into Berzerk and I haven't noticed much of a difference since I only zerk immunes.

I suggest frenzy instead of berserk, makes you ww really fast and if you cant get enigma you can run around quickly
The whole point of berserk is to kill phys immune mobs. You can 1 point Frenzy for the movespeed if you don't mind the swapping if you're somewhat lucky with + to skills for late game. As you level you wont be using berserk very much until Hell. Other than that, Frenzy is mostly terrible. I could see it for normal and nightmare but hell without Berserk is very limiting as to where you can go and what you can do.
@@MasterJohnam One point is ideal for the reason OP suggested. You're already dual-wielding, if you can't teleport Frenzy is the next best thing.

i checked the character planner from maxroll, even with the exact same gears, a ww barb has much much higher dps than frenzy and berzerk. what's the most remarkable difference between ww and frenzy in pvm? does ww barb have more build variant cause it requires less skill points to maximize the damage?

Good video but d2 content creators need to stop talking only about the very best gg gear in the game. Its fine to talk about it but at least introduce us to a budget build first then move up gradually from there. Unless you cheat in single player or with some unnamed website, theres no way anyone will get that kind of gear except for like the 0.001% of players who literally lives on d2 and have an army farming for them.
