So Caitlin broke the record in the same number of years as Plum, 13 less games then Plum, 62 less shots then Plum. Nice take Swoops.
She owes Catlin a public apology, it's ok to have an opinion, but when you get the facts wrong, whether on purpose or by mistake, you should be big enough person to admit it. I think also a lot has to do with black women in basketball being jealous of Catlin , cause of the attention she has recieved from black men of the NBA , Steph, Labron, others.

I grew up watching Swoopes, respect the hell out of her as a player. These comments are unfortunate, and then her follow up interview was even worse. I’m all for civil rights, and have no issues with people openly showing pride for their race, but when you make a statement like “black people cannot be racist”, you’re validating the accusation that has been made against you.
There were so many other ways to do a follow up and she chose the worst way. Regardless of how you feel about the follow up, people were only going to focus on that. All she had to say was “i was wrong, i should have checked before speaking as if they were facts”. She shouldn’t be getting comments about her being a racist but that was probably the wrong thing to start with in the follow up

I expect Gilbert to push back because it doesn’t take long for him to Google C.Clark info or ask someone else to fact check. Also, this is his podcast and he can’t have anyone speaking recklessly and not push back or look unprepared for topics on HIS show.
Clark, a senior, can return to Iowa for a fifth year next season if she chooses, but she is currently in her fourth year. Swoopes clearly did not realize that. Plum scored her record 3,527 points over 139 games in four seasons. Clark has played 123 games and will likely break the record in the next two or three. She made a good point about how career college stats / records can be misleading because really good players spend less time in college. However, her bias and stupidity led her to ASSUME that Clark was benefiting from a flaw in the system when in fact she was not.

I've been a fan of Sheryl Swoopes for 30 plus years, that won't change. But she clearly didn't do her research here, and I truly hope that she steps up and takes responsibility for her errors and apologizes to Caitlin Clark. The one take I agree with is that CC won't just walk into the WNBA and put up the same numbers, but credit should be given where it's due, she's the best collegiate Women's basketball player I've ever seen.

Just in case people are confused on what is going on. There’s a lot of judgement because Clark is doing so well. Almost unbelievably well, but she’s an absolute solid basketball player and all her accomplishments can be verified. Folks tend to want to disprove that she is somehow not really really that good or she has some “cheat year, or she’s alot older”. And Swoopes has done that unfortunately in an attempt to disqualify her achievements. Entirely unwarranted and stems from a bit of jealousy, fear of people losing jobs (as she stated) and possibly because of Clark’s color of her skin.

I used to admire Swoops. Now I am embarrassed for her. Do your research. Clark is in her fourth season (no COVID year). She is a bonified senior and will break the scoring record in fewer games, and she just turned 22 (not 25). As far as shooting for the 2023-2024 season, she has never taken more than 23 shots in a game, including 3 pointers, not the 40 per game Swoops asserts. All of these facts are easily looked up on the Internet (I just did), in less time than Swoops rant. Stop hating.
Clark is a great player but she took more than 23 shots a game twice last week, lol, look at her stats, don't respond to ignorance with more ignorance. 7:49
