I'm a Lakers fan but the media coverage and hype around Bronny is insane. Yesterday, the NBA Today spent more time talking about this 19 yo kid who has started 6 college games, than any one of the ACTUAL NBA Players that are in the middle of these Conference Finals.

@@daveclark8337when are y’all going to realize they do it because it gets people attention. Like how dumb to you have to be to not realize they do it because it makes them money
To me, the WNBA is where the NBA was in 1979. It was a lot more parochial, the popularity was relatively low, and even the NBA Finals was on tape delay. Then, two guys named Larry Joe Bird and Ervin "Magic" Johnson got drafted. And they brought excitement to the NBA and made it national. My HOPE is that Caitlin, along with Angel Reese and Cameron Brink, can be the female "Magic/Bird" coalition that lifts WNBA popularity in America.
no way. I'd bet anyone money that they won't ever get to where NBA is. The level of talent is just too weak. They're just being pushed like crazy by media and dumb people are just eating it up.
@@MichaelDeLaRosa 🤷♂️ Who knows… Anything is possible. But when you observe the videos of female basketball players and the rapid enhancement of their skills, it’s only a matter of time.
I watched an Indiana Fever practice on UA-cam because of Caitlin Clark. I also love watching Angel Reese. In the words of Rico Richie: "If You aint Got No Haters you aint Poppin".
4:17 I literally was saying to someone that they are in the middle of a rebuild they not going to win much games and they was like “but they back to back #1 picks and Clark supposed to be the ‘goat “. These really don’t know nothing.
Exactly! That's the biggest issue. People set expectations for CC and the fever that was unrealistic. It's clear she has to adjust to the talent, and the team has to grow together. The players are praising her and telling us everyday she's going to be fine. The media is making this weird as hell.
this is completely false. They are 100 % trying to win every single time they step on the floor. They're just still YOUNG and learning. Winning takes time. Even lebron didn't make the playoffs in his first season.
Love these conversations that show so clearly the intelligence and maturity of both of these men. I didn't give Lebron all the credit he deserved simply because I'm a Warriors fan... but I've come to appreciate him both as a basketball player and a man. JJ is awesome. Love everything he does.
The difference is Lebron gained the Respect from his game. He made immediate impact statistically. Catlin has a chance to be great but her numbers needs to match the hype as well.
They used Bron as a marketing toy to push the game forward but at the same time players were talking mad crap about him. And of course the public expected greatness immediately.
It was terrific advice. I had mixed feelings about Lebron before this, but his sensibility on this issue is very impressive. He knows of what he speaks.
It's like golf when Tiger started playing. A lot of old timers were jealous because he's getting all the attention. But he did helped the PGA big time.
Like the football goat (Mr. Tom Brady) once said "Laser focus!" If Caitlyn does that, her play will be what people notice about her, and not the pettiness, hatred and jealousy of others.
The sad irony of all of this is that in the NBA it's usually the rookies that are unprofessional and have to mature into the league. However, in the WNBA, it's the, so called, vets who are unprofessional and acting like children while a rookie is not only, single-handedly boosting the league's popularity, but she is also developing into the role model for professional behavior in the league. The rest of the WNBA players should truly be ashamed of themselves. Real talk! Clark is the future!!!
The Clark hype got my attention. After I decided to take a peak, I have since done the following things I never used to do: Watched NCAA games (men and women), watched WNBA games (my local Chicago team). I'm sure I'm not the only one. She's good for the game.
This is a great take. The media is what got me curious about Caitlin after announcing she broke Maravich's all-time record. So I watched the WV game to see what the hype was all about. She hits her first 3. Then she hits another shot. Then she throws a dart for an assist. I'm like the hype is real!!! It is really fun watching her play and I haven't missed a game. The thing is with charters, and sellouts, the exposure, and everything she's bringing to the W, it exposes us to other great W players too. For example I like Reese's game, I like Thomas and Bonner from CT, I like Stewart from NY, and Jewell from Seattle. I even put on the LV vs LA game and saw these 2 great players named Plumb and Hamby and rookie Brink. Players and a league I would never bother to watch before. So it's not like oh they all should be thanking her but just be aware of the impact and perks and don't be hating. Some will say oh she needs to pay her dues first and yeah many rooks do go through the tough stuff. That's what people were saying about Sean McVay too. Oh he's young he needs to pay his dues before winning a SB. No one is calling her the goat in the W yet, we just love her game. Passing, 3s, court smarts, competitiveness, humble, all in one. And for others to say a few players are trying to hurt her, no they aren't. They would be stupid to hurt their meal ticket. It's kind of an initiation. They're like let's apply some pressure and physicality to throw her game off. We're playing hard to win, plus we don't want her bombing 3s on us or getting her team going. 🏀Go WNBA!!🏀
People have been talking about how great this podcast is for the sport. I think this is one of the best most real and relatable segments Bron and JJ have brought to the table yet. Including the NBA and WNBA. He’s talking from his soul as a dad w/a player gunning for the league and heartfelt experience from being a number 1 draft pick and facing all the pressure, criticism, and expectations that came along with it! Thank you for this gem and real glimpse into this world so many of us cherish!
I think it's the competitive nature in athletes that makes them think that a rookie can't just come in and be better than veterans and i don't mind it if it's healthy, good take Bron and better advice
It's not just competitive nature with CC. Get real. The former players and stars are jealous she is making more money before stepping on the court . Being white just drives them insane because of the way whites are treated in almost all aspects of life.
Im no large WNBA fan, and I get that the WNBA has to balance the fact that the women play at the same time as the men in college but have to play over the summer/fall professionally as to not get overshadowed, but its crazy to me that there was like a 1 month turnaround from the WNCAA tournament ending and the WNBA season starting.
Absolutely mind boggling! It’s pretty likely to assume Caitlin has either practiced or played a game every day since September/October when their preseason practices started at Iowa.. she has GOT to be tired!
Also, Lebron is showing the difference right here. Wemby's team struggled this year, but the vast majority of NBA players talked about him with respect and built him up. They played him tough on the court, but publicly they gave him professional respect. To me, this is the difference.
Naw I really like the fact he called out all these WNBA haters who will be CASHING IN LIKE THEY NEVER HAVE IN THEIR LIVES because of CC. I wish Bron would address issues like these more often rather than play to a particular fan base or political ideology. This was the most genuine, COMMON SENSE critique of all the idiots trying to tear down CC while their pockets get fatter because of her. Respect.
@@BCNick22 Face it she's basic and average no matter how much people try to put her on a pedestal. There's some kid at a park somewhere better than CC.
For someone who has never had a day in college LeBron's vocabulary is as deep as his game. His delivery and concept when narrating an idea or perspective is much like an esteemed academe scholar. His absorption of processing of information should really be studied. I hope LeBron gets an NBA Team so I can, in my lifetime see a grassroots program designed, molded, and engineered by greatness.
WNBA or MNBA vets will never collectively embrace extremely talented rookies. LJ is right. Blinders on. Stay the course. Just focus on the work, and be kind to yourself.
As a fan of the WNBA since its inception, it has ALWAYS been watchable...to fans of professional basketball who understand the nuances of the game and the differences between the men and women's game.
Subbed for sure. Looking forward to more vids. As a Warriors fan took me a long while to enjoy LeBron as a person (he was always the villain in my story!) but have come around to seeing what a positive great guy he is. Loved him, Steph, Kevin (et al) in the Olympics, how fun was that? I hope Caitlin has this heartfelt brilliant advice on repeat. I’m far more a baseball fan, & don’t totally get the animosity stuff, but when the love is there it’s obviously really real. It’s very bad that WNBA didn’t get the money & support they deserved til now (still not enough obvs, but improving). So, it’s a bit of a tough transition, especially when a new exciting star is white. I’m sure it feels unfair in many ways truly, should be based entirely on merit, But dammit sports is all still a show, and requires a paying audience. None of that is Caitlin’s fault. Just doing her best, which is utterly amazing. LeBron is so right about the blinders. Hoping we all get over the transition more peaceably, enjoy the fun, and the WNBA overall continues to fly charter & get all the perks they deserve, and honestly must have, to play top tier sport.
I’m not a real LJB fan, but I have to agree with what he saying concerning CC one hundred percent. She’s a wonderful talent and when all the smoke clears the haters will have egg on their faces👍🏽
This Caitlin Clark thing clearly shows the difference between Men's mentality and Women's Mentality. NBA: You do it and I'll do it. WNBA: I can't do it and you shouldn't do it.
lebron is a part of black twitter.. its people like you that group people together for centuries that make people group together and then your blind to just seeing people individually because your traumatized from some argument online or something u had with a black person.. get over it.. everyone isnt the same, and everyone on "black twitter" doesnt think the same either.. grow up
She came into the WNBA with fools like you calling her goat when she is not the best player in the WNBA right now. People like you made people hate her because y'all failed to respect greats who are better than her who played in the WNBA before her.
It's insane because the players aren't hating. They remind us everyday shes going to be fine. The coaches remind us it's going to be fine. CC is tough. Let her grow and build a connection with her teammates. Next year, i have no doubt they'll be fine.
Caitlin will Inevitably be the most Influential Women’s Basketball Player Ever & Bronny will inevitably be a Championship Level Elite Role Player in the NBA for his Entire Career So like LeBron said (without saying bc the losers of the world are 95% of viewership of his professions😂), Basically Ignore all the Outside Noise that come from PPL who will never even begin to reach their Full Potential in Life and Focus on your Work and Continue to Prove PPL wrong with each Step you take Greatness & Hard Work is always Discredited by PPL who will never deserve or receive Credit for Greatness or Work Hard & Take Risks for Greatness💯 just how it goes………. Now. Are we really talking about a future “role player” ? We don’t even talk about today’s role players god damn. Yo JJ! Roanoke here! Great podcast, I liked the vibe and discussion you created with LeBron. I do t get the flack CC is getting, it seems like it started as she approached Pistol Pete’s record. It’s like some people felt like they needed to take sides, defend the past, rain on her parade. Anyway, I hope that she stays grounded, and as LeBron said, just keeps working on her game and elevating her team. I hope she becomes a champion.
Yes! Have you seen how Caitlyn's OWN teammates treat her? Have you heard even ONE teammate speak up for Caitlyn and defend her? No, and that's pathetic. That's why they are losers.
Lebron saying he didn't come in with that aura that CC did, he was just like any 18 year old rookie coming in who wanted to learn from the vets and find his spots to fit in is maybe the most hilarious thing i've ever heard.
Byron Scott just talked about putting 18-yr old Kobe Bryant through the ringer. They even brought back Coop to test him. Because of how Kobe responded they admired him. "This kid is going places." Same happens in life - in school - in jobs.
Animosity = feeling of dislike and ill will. Hatred is a more intense feeling which usually means you want the person dead. Hope this helps. I even looked up the difference between animosity and hatred to make sure I was right. I’ve seen no definition of animosity as “intense hatred”
@@ryanseco5207 u looked at the first sentence of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary I bet. Read the next sentence: “ill will or resentment tending toward active hostility.” I’d say active hostility is pretty hateful lmao.

Caitlyn seems to have her head screwed on straight. She's handled things well so far despite everything being thrown at her. She will prosper in this sport.
chicago in NHL had last years #1 pick playing for them, media raved about how good he is, and he is good, the team didn't even come close to making the playoffs. it takes years to turn a team around
Old school, but Shawn Kemp had the best attitude I’ve seen as a rookie. He kept his head down. Said almost nothing to reporters. And learned everything he could from the vets around him like Nate McMillan and Gary Payton. Loved the Super Sonics!!
What are you talking about? Kemp was drafted a year before Gary. Gary was no vet... Nate was like 25 -26 not exactly a seasoned vet or an important player on the Sonics team. Kemp was 18 yo and change at the time and wasn't even close to being high profiled as a rookie he was picked 17th as a highschool kid with a super athletic body. Like the Giannis pick in 2013.
No way did Lebron just compare Bronny to Caitlin Clark. Caitlin Clark actually earned her spot on a professional roster. Bronny is trying to get in through nepotism and riding his fathers coat tails.
He was comparing the animosity... Like shown above ^ (bronny obv not on same level as CC coming out of college but he has the burden of being LBJ's son and with that comes TONS of media attention. I don't feel sorry for Bronny, the added attention is objectively a blessing and a curse tho. Will he get more opportunities? Yes. However if he gets absolutely torched in the league he will be headline news. So while there definitely are "benefits" of being LeBron son, there is also a lot of extra pressure he is facing that nobody else can relate to. Bottom line is his Dad can't play for him so if he isn't good enough he will be exposed quickly, and I doubt he wanna ride the bench like Giannis brother cuz that would be humiliating
I promise you there is 0 hatred towards CC, it's the media who we're having an issue with. Caitlin just wanna hoop fr, she don't even care about the media attention. Her team 0-5, she frustrated about that, she wanna win games lmao. But y'all are so concerned about her feelings, it's weird. And if she truly is the reason that things are gonna happen to the WNBA, then there's a deeper fundamental problem that needs to be addressed. Because Sabrina Ionescu was the last "Caitlin Clark" that we saw, and I don't even wanna say it like that because that's disrespectful to Sabrina. Sabrina for those who don't know, is the all time NCAA D1 leader in triple doubles, all time Pac-12 conference leader in assists, and the only player in NCAA basketball history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists. So she also had crazy hype coming out of college, unanimous #1 pick, Nike signature athlete, and arguably got the best signature shoe in the game right now, and she's only 26! It's not like she played ages ago, she's still cooking in the league rn. Kelsey Plum (still in the league) who held the NCAA career scoring record before CC, but she still holds the NCAA single season scoring record, oh and btw a back to back WNBA champion. Breanna Stewart (still in the league) 4 chips in 4 years at UCONN, 2 WNBA championships, and an MVP and she's not even 30 yet. I named these 3 specifically because they also aren't black, to refute the argument that because CC is a white girl that's why they're giving her all this attention, nahh I don't think it's that. But I definitely could've named A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young (the highest paid player in the WNBA), Skylar Diggins, the list literally goes on. Y'all in the media are the problem. The Indiana Fever played the Seattle Storm last night, and in the highlights on ESPN, they're showing ONLY CC's highlights. She had like 20 in a loss. That's cool and all, that's a solid game from any rookie. But oh yeah, they forgot to mention on the other side, Jewell Lloyd had 32, 11, and 6 in a WIN....I feel like there should be more talking about that rather than CC's stats in a loss. And for all the people saying well Caitlin still dropped 20... individual stats are cool for a short period of time, but it really don't even matter unless you win. Ask Donovan Mitchell. Bro literally had 40-50 pts in multiple games this season, but the Cavs still lost and now he on the couch watching the Conference Finals wit everybody else. So what good did that do him fr.
You fail to understand that WNBA is an entertainment company. All those players you mentioned before Caitlin Clark obviously didn’t entertain the fans! So you can write an encyclopedia of how great these WNBA players are, at the end of the day they suck because no one paid to watch them! All it took was a video of Caitlin Clark in the airport and WNBA got charter flights. At least wait til the white girl get everyone paid and then hate of her, but hate on her now!!??
Let me break it down for you.The WNBA is trying to get eyes on the product and make money. Its about what sells.Right now that's Catlin Clarke. The NBA did the same thing with Bird and Magic.
@@redmoney4155 but you see what you said..Bird AND Magic. Not just Bird, not just Magic. There's plenty of players they can choose to market just as much as Caitlin, that's our point. WNBA has a partnership with Nike, why wouldn't they push Sabrina, one of the best female Nike athletes in the sport and arguably the best signature shoe amongst men AND women. Seems like a smart business move to me.
Not a huge James fan, but he's a great player and I think he nailed it with his perspective here. To be honest, I was a Miami fan and got mad when he left. lol. But props to him and his honest take here. I wish the best for CC and Brony. They are kids that want to reach their highest potential in the game they love. Let it be.
As a Celtics fan, I wasn't very happy when Lebron had knocked us out of the playoffs a couple of times. Say what you want about him, but he's a great player and he makes a lot of sense with his comments here. Well done Lebron.
Exactly. She's not a miracle worker. It takes time for her to jell with her teammates, especially since many of them aren't in her corner yet. But she'll win them over eventually.
When faced with someone better than you: great people rise to the occasion, petty people try to tear that person down. As far as I’m concerned, all those in the WNBA have to resort to aggression and cheating to beat CC are pathetic, and should go find something else to do.
The most underrated part of Lebron's is his mindset. He wasn't the top 5% scorer. He was top 10% maybe. But he was keeping his body in great shape, finding a great manager who put every time into a new team, when the old one collapsed. He stopped defending so much after Miami and avoided a lot of injuries. He started to pass more and stopped running to the rim so much (avoiding blocks). Always position himself first for counterattack, because it's easy points. Probably the smartest player ever Now he is forcing the trades, the moves, and drafting his son. Probably he couldn't do it in Miami to the Grandfather. But anyway, he is successful, even without winning championships.
The fact that this segment got so much controversy yesterday proves exactly why WNBA fans aren't ready for the league to grow lol Imagine NBA players being pissed off that magic and bird were growing the league back in the 70s/80s the way they did.
Oh they were. I forgot who but there was one player that said “if Larry bird was black he would be just another nigga” or something like that back in the 80’s

Lebron's comments were well thought out, and he certainly speaks from experience. I've gained an extra amount of respect for this man.
The way the WNBA women are treating Caitlyn is the same way the NBA men treated LeBron when he got to the league
The difference is Lebron gained the Respect from his game. He made immediate impact statistically. Catlin has a chance to be great but her numbers needs to match the hype as well.

Look for the common denominator of who the unprofessional ones are. #facts

I disagree with the man I consider GOAT. A large segment watches the WNBA because of the dispute between Reese and Clark, not b/c of Clark.
Two names that come to mind that critisized Lebron were Carlos Boozer and Ricky Davis.
The Clark hype got my attention. After I decided to take a peak, I have since done the following things I never used to do: Watched NCAA games (men and women), watched WNBA games (my local Chicago team). I'm sure I'm not the only one. She's good for the game.
It would be cool if LeBron reached out to Caitlin directly and helped mentor her.

The turnaround time is egregious. They don't have time to heal, recover, take a shit , decompress or anything.
cant imagine how tired the rookies are
I totally didn't consider that until JJ said it. I have to say I've been too harsh on her game. Its gonna be cool to watch how she progresses
🏀Go WNBA!!🏀

Huh?! 😂
This is a wildly dumb post. Shawn Kemp was drafted in 1989 and Gary Payton was drafted in 1990.

Way to miss the point, jackass
if thats how you interpreted that, I suggest English Comprehension classes ... and just to be sure, re-sit your GED.
WNBA needs to start appreciating good things to come instead of hating on something good 🤷♂️
I promise you there is 0 hatred towards CC, it's the media who we're having an issue with.
I ain’t reading all that
Let me break it down for you.The WNBA is trying to get eyes on the product and make money.
@@boblaw4488 lmao ok...why you telling me
Not a huge James fan, but he's a great player and I think he nailed it with his perspective here.
Thank you LeBron for saying exactly what I said. She literally got drafted by the worst team. What do people expect her to do right away?
It's in professional sports, lots of games are determined before the match
He’s right bruv. WNBA be hating on Caitlin
Name 1 player that has hated on Caitlin. Y’all are so fkn weak and messy bro.
That was the first reasonable thing I’ve heard Lebonda say since he was 18. Wow
Better have this same energy for Juju in a couple of years from now 💯
They won’t b/c JUJU is not yte, which doesn’t fit JJ Reddick’s race baiting victimhood mentality.
The fact that this segment got so much controversy yesterday proves exactly why WNBA fans aren't ready for the league to grow lol
Imagine NBA players being pissed off that magic and bird were growing the league back in the 70s/80s the way they did.
Oh they were. I forgot who but there was one player that said “if Larry bird was black he would be just another nigga” or something like that back in the 80’s
Didn't have a clue about this level of play until Caitlin Clark!
Not saying she is MJ but even he took time to succeed. It took YEARS.
Im glad LeBron is so supportive of Caitlyn because the hate she’s getting from opponents is one thing but the hate from media is messed up.
