- My daughter's car needed some attention, so I had to take a break from the "racecars." New fog light bulbs for the Acura MDX was the task for the day.
These are expensive little buggers, but pretty simple to change out.

Thanks for posting this. A ratcheting box end "gearwrench" really really helps
Excellent how-to video! This the only one I found that showed the removal of the light housing and wiring harness, super easy, thanks.
Glad you thought so! That was part of the reason I posted it lol. I could not find any detailed videos!
I can’t get the rachette in the bumper to remove bolt!!
Thanks for the video. I have 2011 mdx...I'm a do-it-yourselfer to save money and will take the challenge if it's not too hard. I like being under the hood and learning my car. I've fooled a few mechanics in talking the mechanic language and having knowledge when explaining the possibilities of a problem with all the cars I've had. When guys see a female under the hood, they want to come help. I kindly let them know I got it and smile.😉 Now let's see if I can change the daggon fog lights!🙄🤨😁
That’s awesome! I’m sure you can handle it!
Came here for the MDX video, found your other Q50 videos and psyched to see the combo since I have a MDX and G37 myself!
Oh hell yeah!
Thanks for this video I'm up grading to a 2011 mdx for a 2001, this helps me figure out how to upgrade to LED lights that I had in my 2001. I'll need 4 Regulators instead of 2 on the 2001.
Thanks for posting this. They bolt is a nightmare to get in and out but seems like the best way to change these. One of those ratcheting closed wrenches would really work well here, no real room for a ratchet and the 6 sided wrench limited how I could grab the bolt.
Definitely harder than it needs to be lol
9005 is the DRL : H11 is the fog.
Luckily they only fit in one place!
If you want your hand cut up even more like me just peel back the wheel well plastic and go through there on each side. I don't trust myself with pop tabs lol
Thanks, just what I needed
Glad it helped!
Replacing mines again due to leds burning out. Going to place 3m interlocking tape on one side of the housing so i wont need to put the 10mm bolt back in and save myself time the next time this happens. Thanks for the video!
Thanks
I replaced the light DRL BUT IT STILL DOESNT work, I tested the plug and it showed a short. Is there something in between that light socket and the wiring harness?
That I am not sure of
Dought you still check this video, but I’m getting my ass kicked trying to get to the fog light bulb switch on passenger side. So far I hv 2 1/2 hours in it. I hv all plugs pulled under neath cept fur 2-3 on drivers side. I hv piece of stryafoam jammed between black cover & frame, to hold it open I started on 10mm screw, that screw is all that holds the fog light assy in? Guess I’ll continue and try get my big hands abs arms in there done how to finish unscrewing bolt pull out replace bulb. Wonder where I can buy some more of those plastic pull tabs I broke 4 of them underneath? Thanks
It was definitely a pain!
A lot easier this way
I thought so!
I can’t get either fog light bulb out. DRL we’re simple!!
They won’t twist?
Twist a little but won’t come
Did you have to jack up the vehicle?
I drove up on ramps, but it could be done at ground level.
Got a strange Situation with the Qs fog lights
Only driver side works, passenger doesn’t
They both link to same fuse, so it’s not the fuse
Changed out the whole fog light , still no luck
Any idea how to proceed? :/
Maybe it’s the wiring ?
Check the wiring. See if there is any frays. Turn the fog lights on (make sure your in a dark enough spot like the garage) get a multimeter or test light and see if there is power running through the wire. If there is. Fog light defective most likely. If not. Problem in the wire
@@tristanoliver2911 ahhh ok , yeah I didn’t really think the new one would be toast 😵💫 but I’ll check it all out. I think my pops got a power meter, we’ll check if there’s any power going through.. what I wonder, could I safely tap into the wiring of the other fog light, since they’re both ending up to same fuse . Hopefully redoing the wiring or relaxing the socket connecting to the fog light isn’t too hard
@@bsilva602 as long as all your doing is checking for voltage/current yes you can do so safely. Don’t try to apply any voltage into the system.
Can’t seem to remove the metal bolt at the end with out ripping the plastic trim apart…..any ideas ?
Any error code?
Nope
