I have a painting I'm trying to do without reference or instruction and hair is going to be a major part. Braids with highlights and single hairs across the face. Thank you so much for this extremely helpful video before I try it out on my painting.
I found watching the entire process to be the most useful. I have not yet attempted to paint hair or fur for that matter. Michele’s expertise has given me a far better chance of pulling this off. I bought the pallet Michele showed in the video and it is wonderful.
First time trying these (or any ) hair techniques and I look at my results with pleasure. The key that you discussed about layers is handy. I can see this technique working of fur and even tree bark. thx for tutorial
With acrylics you can use a rough brush and put more than one colour on your brush at a time allowing them to blend on the surface, paint in the direction of growth :-)
All good ideas! Thank you for this tutorial. I wanted to try the embossing method while watching this video and found that it is a bit tricky with the watercolor pencils. It seems to work only on smooth paper and only on prepared watercolor applied with a brush, but not on the penciled that was blended on paper. Of course everything takes practice. 😊
Thinking on how to paint hair like mine. Gray and black roots, remnants of purple dye on ends, some sunfade between with gold and reddish highlights. A challenge I will tackle when my confidence grows or I redye it all purple again.

The white HDPE cutting boards have a similar texture. You can find the smaller ones pretty cheap.
Yes I have a similar one in the kitchen

Glad it was helpful!

@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber I'll be looking for the upcoming video. thx
SWEET! Do you have any tips for acrylics and hair? I'm a returning "beginner" doing portraits. Love from across the waters in the USA.

Purple sounds great. I've been told to embrace the gray, but I don't like it. On other people yes, but it's not for me!
Thanks for the great tips. My Watercolor pencils are feeling neglected.

Fantastic tutorial, but your nailpolish is slightly disturbing the colours you add on paper. Just saying.
