Literally, EVERY SINGLE ONE!! I'm so excited to learn so much in a short time. I'm just starting with watercolor pencils. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!🙂
Thank you so much For all those very helpful tips, will definitely putting them to use.
Same!!!
Wow, this was absolutely chock full of great tips! All wonderful. Maybe the embossing idea took me by surprise, but so did a number of things. Your video lessons are so compact, yet full of valuable information. Thank you! 👏👏👏👏
All of them, but I was amazed by the travel pallet. I've just started using my watercolor crayons and this was a thorough explanation for all kinds of tips. Thanks
i just turned 60 and decided to learn how to draw and watercolour art. thanks to your videos i am learning so much and can render easy things and easy landscapes after only 4 months so thank you for sharing your skills and knowledge. from new zealand
Wonderful!
Well done young fella. I am around the same age myself and I also took up this art myself. 10/10
I am 71
Me too,,71, about 4 trs in, but I am only know getting serious about practicing, and it makes big difference! ❤ Finally! 😊
I have just started painting and try out all your technics but hate to waste expensive watercolour paper. An artist friend suggested that I use plain Postcards which are quite thick paper, they work beautifully... bonus you can buy packs of 100 at the pound shop ( you guessed it ) for a pound. I do all your tricks and tests and add notes about your great ideas... now have my own little pile to keep... easy to store and always ready to refer to... hope this helps your other learners... thank you so much for your easy workable tutorial which you explain so clearly x
You can also use a nail file or emery board for the speckle effect instead of a knife. I’ve used it ver effectively for painting rust
Clever idea!
I just began to use watercolor pencils and I really love them. I feel much more in control than with paints. These tips are wonderful and I look forward to using them as I explore this new world. Thanks Michele. You really are a fabulous teacher! Linda
I'm so glad!

I am 55 years old and I'm learning how to paint.

This was by far the most comprehensive watercolor pencil video I've seen!

Travel pallet is genius! Thanks so much

You are so welcome!
This is pure gold . Many would hesitate to give away these in a free forum like youtube.
Thank you for doing this here 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it! I have paid courses too, but I like to put free stuff up in addition so there's something for everyone :-)
Thanks for all of the great tips. I think my favorite is getting a straight edge with scotch tape.
Idea for the small travel pallet is terrific!
Thank you!
Wow ich bin Anfängerin und ich danke dir für die tollen Tipps. Ich liebe deine Videos obwohl ich keine englisch kann. 🙋♀️

What an incredible tip with the embossing tool. 👍🏻
I love the baby paint palette. I was getting a travel kit together for the beach this summer and saw I was gathering too many things. Great idea!
I love this! I’m an absolute beginner. So grateful for this excellent and concise content.
The mini pallet and water brush are really brilliant tips. Thanks Michelle
Glad you like them!
A great collection of tips! I esp. like the tips about making a bubble, using a flat brush for stripes, and the pencils with gouache for fur! Thank you for posting!
I am learning new techniques from you! Thank you. I just started watercolor painting 2 weeks ago. I’m so excited to use all these techniques.
The tiny paint palette is simply ingenious!
Thank you!
I love the sword!
Can't have too many ;-)
Very informative. Love your clear, precise, presentation. I don't feel like I wasted a moment watching this.
Ok, this is the second time I have watched it, and it will take at least 5 more before I absorb it all! GREAT tips!
You got this!
Hi Michele, I love these tips and tricks. My favorite is the one that fades the color to white by bringing the clear water up to the pigment. That is brilliant.😊 I just recently started using watercolor pencils and one tip I have is to get/buy a very thin cutting mat. It is like the thinnest cutting board ever. I purchased mine on Amazon. Then I cut it into smaller squares, to fit my travel art kit and studio table. When I want to use the pencil like watercolor, I scribble on the slightly textured side of the cutting mat and use the pigment like watercolor. It makes color mixing super easy too. I can clean off the mat and reuse it forever. Thank you again for all the wonderful videos you create. 💝
That's a great tip and you are very welcome!
Love that with just a few circles of watercolor pencils is a fun way to add to sketches on the go.
Great techniques! Thank you! ❤ I like the dry pencil on wet, saturated paper technique.
Thanks so much! 😊
Thank you for watercolour pencil tutorial!🇨🇦
My pleasure 😊
Sadly we moved from Oregon to Texas the movers scared us and took all our belongings which sadly contained my dad's antique drafting/art table and cabinet full of enough large poster size sheets of watercolor to last a lifetime. All my treasures I felt as if I had been stabbed in the heart. I sew quilts for Vets and babies at life service's organizations. 33 twins size 25 baby quilts plus my personal collection my grandmother, mom and sister had made me.
I don't mean to depressed you all. I could not even imagine doing a watercolor out of pure depression.
And the through prayer and watching artists 🎨 on utube I felt something I pray for God to carry my pain and He did...you and a few artists have inspired me to start again and move on. I rank you so much for helping in my mourning and healing process!
I'm so sorry that happened to you. I don't understand meaness like this. 😢
Can't wait to try the technique on the leaf (so much more natural looking!) and the pocket palette! You convinced me to give another chance to my dormant watercolor pencils!
Such a treasure grove of tips for water color pencils! Clever you, thanks!
Those embossing tool and knife edge techniques are brilliant!
I find your videos really
Useful. They are clear and concise, i like your videos because you are straight to the point and dont waste time talking about random things, you stick to what you are instructing. It is so helpful and interesting
Thank you do much 👍
Re watched this really useful video! Aren’t you clever?! A fountain of knowledge, thanks for passing on these tips! I re- learn little things every time I re- watch your videos! Am so grateful you’re willing to impart your knowledge! Thanks
Thanks Valerie, glad you found it helpful!
I love the mini travel palette. I have never seen that trick. Thank you
You are so welcome!
Have watercolor pencils that I have been avoiding use, but never wanted to use a lot of time to learn so much learning. You have taught me so much on this lessons …. I will go forward and get going .. Thank you so much.
And, surprise I‘ve againre-watched your informative video! And, now to copy all your methods again! Thanks
Have fun!
This site has taught me more techniques than any of the many sites I have visited. Absolutely the greatest. Thanks s much.
Great to hear! Thank you!
I have been totally wasting my pencils! Time to demand more from them.
Lovely! Several of these were new to me. I really liked the scraping technique for darker lines.
(Coincidentally, it also reminded me to put my craft knife in my bag so I could take it down to my car to make an X in my registration tag, to discourage thieves from stealing the tag like they did last year! LOL. Thanks!)
Mostly I use my watercolor pencils to highlight my Zentangle art, which is drawn with an ink pen (Sakura Pigma Microns, mostly.) I won’t use all of your techniques, but there were several ah-has, including the one about starting with clean water from the other side to avoid the sharp edge. You were so right about that one!
Thanks!
I liked the tips for drawing straight line as well as fine lines with embossing or knife. Thanks
Thank you, thank you! Great tips!
Wow Michele! You made me realize what I was doing wrong: using the point instead of the flat side of the tip. I could never eliminate the pencil marks. I thought it was the pencil so I tried all the different brands. I was ready to throw them all in the garbage. THANK You!🙏💜😍
You are so welcome!
Michele, dear, I love watercolour pencils. I’ve been using them for over 20 years. Yes I always do a colour chart of swatches when I buy a set of watercolour pencils. It helps me decide what colours to use in my picture.
The rainbow technique is my favorite. I can see how it can be used in many ways. I also love the world’s tiniest watercolor palette. Thank you!
Thank you! The tip with the travel palette is just awesome! Can't wait for warm spring days to try it!
Me too!
Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos
Amazing once again thanks for all the fabulous tips.
I learn so much from you thank you Michele
This was so helpful as I am a pencil colorist but use watercolor pencils quite often.
So many great tips with watercolor pencils which I love to use. I'm going to have to watch this a couple of times to remember them. And I love the smart travel palette. Would be so useful when you're sitting waiting in the car or you're on a plane or train and don't want to have to worry about spilling water or taking up too much room. It would be easy to clip to your sketchbook on the side that you aren't painting on. And I love the sword and your pointed sense of humor. Thank you, Michele.
Glad it was helpful! ⚔️
Another tip for getting a smooth flat colour on rough or textured paper, is to colour with your wc pencil onto a rough surface like sandpaper or a rough chopping board that you only use for craft, then apply your wet brush to get the colours.
The travel palette is genius along with so many others. Thanks so much. Oh and duh, so that's how you fill the water brush lol
Thank you, so much, for showing these wonderful techniques to us. I love watercolor!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Enjoyed everything and got a lot of value as always but particularly loved the pocket palette. Brilliant idea!
Definitely one of those videos you want to have saved 😮
I have been looking at different travel palettes for a short trip I will be taking soon, and I never thought of making my own with pencils! Such a great idea, thank you!
Thank you for these amazing tips. I'm a real newby....haven't even done one picture yet. I do, however, have all the supplies I need to start out, including the pencils. I've been watching UA-cam videos from many artists to give myself a bit of confidence for when I do start. I'll definitely be watching a lot more of your videos as you explain things very simply for a new beginner. Just need to learn how to draw now 😊. Thank you again ! (Fran)
Excellent tips. Really useful. All your work in putting this together is truly appreciated. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the 'fur' tip best ty
So many fabulous ideas
Thanks 🙏
I'm new to watercolor pencils, and you have given me some great ideas to try and learn from. Thanks!

You're welcome 🙂
Thx so much Michele for so many tips and tricks. My favorite one is the tiniest watercolor travel kit. So cleaver and fun. I’m going to try it. 🥰
That's great ☺️
I just got water color pencils for Christmas. This is my first video! I loved your tips, so brilliant. I have been water color painting for 2 years and just wanted to try some new techniques. Thank you from Vermont & so glad I found this video..
You are very welcome, enjoy your new pencils!
Loved the mini pallet
Loved your travel paint pad tip.
Way to go Michelle!l Another excellent video! What a plethora of watercolor pencil techniques and tricks. This is the best watercolor pencil video I’ve seen. Love the Scotch tape masking technique and mini travel palette.
The mini travel palette reminds me of those little prizes in a box of Cracker Jack (Carmel corn & peanut snack in a box sold at baseball games, etc.- for those in the UK). I think the brush was just a little piece of paper but it was great fun as a kid in the 70’s. Dating myself! Lol!❤✏️🎨
Oh and toys in cereal boxes!!
I have learned a lot about usung watercolor pencils from your videos. Thank you! I now use them often, incorporating many of your great ideas. I like to use the scraping method and wetting the pencils for small amounts. I also like to mix the colors and use them like you show for the palette to make small amounts for details. It is a really quick way to get the "perfect" color without wasting alot of paint.
Happy New Year to you too and thank you for all the tips. I have just started playing with my watercolor pencils and these tips will come in handy. Love your sense of humor about the sword.
Just found you, I’m so happy. I’ve got all the sets sitting forever, now I’ll actually try using them, thank you 😍
That's great, good luck!
WoW !, I came upon your video and I honestly forgot what I was looking for, but I'm glad I did. I've been wanting to try watercolour pencils to experiment with on top of my digital prints and this was the perfect video to come across. All your tips have given me the courage to dive in and give them a try.
You've really opened my eyes to the possibilities of using them and HOW to use them. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and your presentation is very easy going and straight to the point. You are truly an inspiration !!!
Thank you!
Michele, in an art class last fall we used sandpaper and emery boards to get tiny dots of watercolor from pencils to the wet background of watercolor we were working on.
Lovely! Much safer too :-)
I loved the knife and embossing tool tricks. However I learned about using the WC pencils in general. Great help, thank you
My pleasure 🙂
Great tips in using water colour pencils. I learned so many things and I’m inspired to get out my pencils again. Thank you.
I'm so glad!
Fantastic video! I've been watercoloring with tube paints for about 4 months. I've only just decided to try some pencils for fun. So many tips all in one place. You've really given me a major head start! Thank you so much!
