My favorite part of car detailing is the wipe down after performing the fine polishing stage. There is something about wiping away the residue and revealing that perfect finish 👌
Great advice. Most people are shocked at what you can do with a DA, a good cleaner wax and a medium polishing pad... and it's not like it goes back to ugly the first time it's run through a car wash either. YT and fear of criticism has done lot of harm to the benefits of enhancements. I think the pendulum is beginning to swing back with pros like you and Scott from Dallas Paint Correction speaking out.
Dude your videos are just the best. We really appreciate you for taking the time to teach us. I've learned SO MUCH from your videos. Your videos have taught me that the more I learn, the less I actually know. Thank you
I am a beginners beginner and have watched a lot of your videos and must say that you keep it simple with not much mambo jumbo. I enjoy the short videos that have a lot of info coming at you in a short space of time. Can easily use this video as the go to one for all paint enhancement information. KISS . . . Keeping It Stupid Simple. Girls can follow these steps and do great. Well done.
And this is why proper maintenance is important. Washing with plenty of lubrication and not marring the surface in the first place, is crucial. My personal car is black. The RIDS and wash marring drive me nuts, but the thought of removing clearcoat and giving it less protection is worse. Maybe I'll just take it to the body shop and have it sprayed with 7 layers of clear 🤔. But seriously, this subject matter is really what sets you apart, Brian. Great vid to help people breaking into the business. Thank you.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO. ALL NEWBIES SHOULD WATCH THIS VIDEO. THEN YOU SAY "THERE IS A TEST ON FRIDAY BRING A #2 SHARPEN PENCIL". THE END. THANK YOU. AWESOME VIDEO.
I love a good enhancement. I changed my packages (again) this year with the starter package being an enhancement for new clients. I use a lot of Shine Supply Daddy O and Menz 3in1.
Great advice firstly. Honest and straightforward. Many people make it look easy doing correction becouse they have the experience and the right equipment. From a beginner perspective it looks easy and harmless, till you couse damage to clients vehicles. Great advice to go for enhancements and build experience
As someone who is just starting out this is exactly what I was looking for. Some of the cars are new so the idea of already pulling away from clear coat so early in the cars life is really not appealing. Especially when I'm really looking to just provide a little more gloss and shine. Thank you again for another amazing video.
Have to say I really appreciate your video’s .... just an old guy here who wants to maintain his vehicles .... thinking like a 6 month approach one in the spring and one time in fall for winter protection ... thanks so Much
You and Scott Bley from dallas paint correction and luxury microfiber are the best detailing channels by far. So much knowledge. Thank you so much Brian
Great demo on the basics and especially keeping the danger of taking too much of the clear coat. Which sounds like any is already beyond the recommendation. Oh well..
To quote the tech at PPG R&D..." the factory falls short of 2 mils, which is the minimum needed for maximum protection. So as soon as you have made your first pass, you have removed too much"
Great video, Brian! Funny timing too, as I just sold a "paint enhancement" yesterday. Though, I called it a "deep cleaning." - Same idea, though. For this job, I'll be using Ultima Final Polish on a soft pad, and follow it up with Ultima Paint Sealant. Owner of the daily driven car isn't looking for scratch/swirl removal, just a nice cleaning and maintenance washes every other week.
Apex Detail OH, not sure! I sold it, but haven't done the job. I'm meeting the guy tonight and we'll schedule it then. But yes, I'm sure it will look fantastic. :)
Yup, now I am thourouly confused. Some of the more obsessed, NY/L detailers dont seem to mind ripping through all the clear on a car. Now they are working on 100k plus super cars, or their dad's WRX??? But still, no concern at all for retention of clear coat. I suppose that's why they sell and buy new cars every 6 months, they don't care about how it will look as the clear coat deteriorates on the next owner.(esp. A 2009 Honda S2000 w Black, uber soft clear. I was even cringing as I watched 5 guys tag team that car:) Alot to consider, and learn! Thanks for the video... most of us are working on daily drivers, or our own cars. It is really great to see someone who lives in the real world. You and Scott need to do a podcast or something, you two are on different pages in the same book!
Talking to the techs at PPG R&D...They claim a vehicle needs 2 mils of their clear coat to completely protect the base coat. Factories barely get 1.75 mils on a new car currently. That tells you everything.
I've watched a few of your videos now. You seem to know a lot more than many other channels out there. Thank you for the knowledge and this video was a good one. I've been thinking about doing this stuff for fun out of the driveway.
Feels good the finally watch your videos against I'm in nc and my house was affect by Hurricane florence and to top it off someone broke in my trailer n stole my detailing tools time to rebuild looking forward to more of your videos!!!
Thanks for Paint enhancement's info. Our cars are in good shape so the info on enhancement works for me. Please keep info coming ..THANKS !!! Bagel with coffee this morning
During the pandemic, I have picked up detailing as a hobby. I have invested in an Maxshine M15 and now have so many products that I have confused myself. I have everything from foam to C2V3 and some cuts, polishes, waxes, sealant in between...and don't really know when to use use what. To complicate matters I have two cars that must remain ungaraged and get horrible Northeast water spots that drive me crazy. You have now introduced me to one step and paint enhancers...great more product!! Can you give me one resource and product list to restart and get it all straight in my head??? Thanks Guy!! I appreciate it.
I use Megs Ultimate Polish, D151, KAIO, and Essence Plus for enhancement and maintenance. If the car truly doesn't need much, I'll hit it with Rupes white polish/pad combo. Excellent pop. Would very much like to try out Enigma AIO, but the odds are that won't happen for a while.
Hello Brian, First I love your sessions as a total newby I'm taking it all in like a sponge. Just a comment, when you flash the product you're using could you hold it for a possible 8 to 10 count. I can't capture the product fast enough and end up having to rewind several times to get it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Finally I haven't seen a session on pads and brands. I'm sure you have made one. Thanks again!
Thanks, this was very helpful as I add this service to my business! Does an enhancement/one step remove the blemishes permanently or just cover them up? Wondering if they resurface over time.
Hi Sir...I happen to have Scotts products. Can I use those to polish my freshly painted Mercedes? Its original color. And under what name do I find the 50 50 pads? and are there different grades? THANK YOU AND BLESSINGS
Great video! What are your speed settings for each method? Are they the same for enhancements vs one steps? I know every machine is different just looking for a general rule of thumb.
I have a question here in my place I have in the day light outdoor 130-120 Fehrenheit and 118-112 in the night. The humidity is 75-100%. So do you think there is a way and products to do outdoor paint correction without failure due to the climate?
Also noticed u didnt cover every fiber on ur microfiber pad with polish, as i have heard that total coverage is needed. I was wondering ur thoights on this topic of how much polish is needed. Thanks
Simon Hopper complete coverage is not necessary. I mist some quick detailer to be sure... but don't overthink it. You can cut successfully without polish or compound using a quick detailer or even just plenty of water.
Very informative video. I’ve always wondered if professional detailers have a different way of completing the front facia of an vehicle. Do you use a smaller buffer, different techniques? Thanks for any advice. I am not a professional but I own a flex with the original 6 inch pad assembly. I usually detail my own personal vehicles, making minor corrections such as swirl marks, scratches and stains. I want to prep a brand new vehicle for ceramic coating. I do also have a smaller Griots buffer 3 inch I believe but it is a random orbital I believe and not as effective..
HELP PLEASE So I recently switched from my rotary DeWalt to rupes 15 inch with 6 " pad Dual polisher Watched bunch of videos and techniques Using blue and yellow rupes pad and blue compound and yellow polished. Took time with one panel . Washed , claybar , sanded gently with 3000 Did step one and two , slow motion , overlap the whole 9 yards And it looked absolutely stunning .....BUT 3 days later I saw it on the sun and 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 Scratches ( spider ) everywhere, color next to the door I didn't do was too dull as if I am looking through the fog .... I am open to any suggestions and pointers . Understand it is hard without seeing me working it but I figure I would ask anyway . Thank you
Great video. What would you classify as paint enchantment using the pads and polishes with the rupes system? Also what would be classified as a one step within the rupes system? Thank you for the help.
I was under the impression that Sonax Perfect Finish is similar to menzerna 3800, with both of them being "jeweling" polishes, no? I occasionally use menzerna 3800 as a last step, is that unnecessary if all defects are gone beforehand? Thank you so much for the helpful videos! I learned a lot from you.
Found you video very helpful - I am new to this world. Pls explain what needs to happen BEFORE I enhance. Do I decontaminate first ( use something like Purple Power Boat and Marine)? Do I clay? Do I remove iron? Do I need to use something like GYEON Quartz Q2M Prep?
You wash the car thoroughly, then clay bar.then you polish. After you polish a section, buff off the excess with a plush microfiber towel and wipe down with whatever decon spray you want
Thank you this is terrific advice, especially with arm speeds, pad selection, diminishing abrasives. If I heard correctly, you're saying to use an orange cutting pad with an AIO, is this to get more cut? And you suggest it's more aggressive on paint removal than an enhancement polish; if you use a polishing pad similar to what would be used with the polish, would the AIO be less aggressive and comparable to the polish in terms of paint removal?
It would be less aggressive...which is good with newer cars. They do not even spray on enough clear to completely protect the basecoat. So what we remove ...makes it worse.
Great content Brian. I have a 2018 Escalade and Raptor that in my opinion need light correction on the hood and roof. Is Sonax Perfect Finish something I should use?
very detail and thank you! btw, what do you think about using LC force pad with AIO on a daily driver? is it too much? or better with white polishing pad?
Good video. it is a bit different than other detailers from the speed you use in you pattern, are you not afraid of the heat the pad makes when moving so slow?
Hi, im not a pro. I detail for myself/own cars and for some friends. Ive been using McKees 37 360 corrects cleans seals. But i think its been discontinued. I cant seem to find it. Could you recommend a all in one thats good quality and I can buy in a gallon ? Thanks for the vids !!!
Hi Brian, I watched one of your videos recently where you discussed learning to use a rotary. You fixed some deep scratches and the rest of the panel looked amazing when you were done. I had always heard that a rotary left swirls and a dual action was needed for finish work to clean that up. Do we even need a dual action if a rotary can do such a great job? Thanks!
Hopefully...this helps beginners take that first step beyond offering basic cleanings.
This is a win-win scenario. A less experienced detailer can feel comfortable completing the job well, and the results satisfy most clients.
Awesome video Brian. this was very helpful. I've been for a video like this. a lot of information to help me make the move.
This was outstanding. I can't wait to hear the next video with the info from PPG as well.
How's the Maxshine machine holding up?
The MaxShine does not miss a beat. I really enjoy it so far.
Why is Menzerna 3 in 1 (aka Cut, Gloss, Wax) in group A?
If you give up on detailing you need to consider a career in teaching. For me your reasoning makes perfect sense and is easy to understand.
Absolutely!
I haven't ruled it out. I already have hands on training here.🤔
Agreed 🙏🏼
My favorite part of car detailing is the wipe down after performing the fine polishing stage. There is something about wiping away the residue and revealing that perfect finish 👌

BigOldDog raising awareness is at least a start.👍🏻
Dude your videos are just the best. We really appreciate you for taking the time to teach us. I've learned SO MUCH from your videos. Your videos have taught me that the more I learn, the less I actually know. Thank you
You are a natural teacher B!

Awe shucks!🤗

One of the best videos on the subject I have seen!👏🏻
Glad it helped a bit Mikey.
Paint Enhancement !!! This is the 1st video I found which describes what I want to do as my first car. I have to rewatch this to find the products
Great video, you've inspired alot people here, too bad these vids weren't around in the late 80's☺
I would have tuned in for sure!👍🏻
And this is why proper maintenance is important. Washing with plenty of lubrication and not marring the surface in the first place, is crucial. My personal car is black. Stephen Carbonaro agreed. Add to that no protection was ever applied whatsoever... and a dull, swirled finish is the outcome.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO. ALL NEWBIES SHOULD WATCH THIS VIDEO. THEN YOU SAY "THERE IS A TEST ON FRIDAY BRING A #2 SHARPEN PENCIL". THE END. THANK YOU. AWESOME VIDEO.
Great work as always B. We all had to start somewhere.
Gotta do a “smiley face” on all pads ;)
Clint L yes! 🙂🙂🙂
Haha. Work becomes easy as childs play! 😄
I love a good enhancement. I changed my packages (again) this year with the starter package being an enhancement for new clients. I use a lot of Shine Supply Daddy O and Menz 3in1.
I'm a newbie and I absolutely love what 3D has to offer. 3D ONE, Speed (AIO) and Poxy as a sealant. Bro you rock with your information

One step is a new term for me. I grew up on cut and wax
Great instructional video Brian. You are a true professional!!!👌👌👌
Just happy if the vids help a bit.🙂
Thank you for taking the time out to make these very informative tutorials.
My pleasure!👍🏻
Are u polishing the hood without washing it and claying it? Those are the first steps. To remove all dirt.
Yes it looks like the hood wasn't cleaned

☕️🥞 Pancakes for me!
Another great teaching video Brian! I wish I lived in your town, because I would come work for you for free just to learn.
You missed our hands on training weekend just a few weeks ago.
I missed it too. I would have driven from CT for that!

Love Angelwax AIO. I used it on a dark blue bmer and it came out great! Customer loved it!
wow great video and great advice! thank you
Glad it helped a bit.👍🏻
I would recommend 600 grit to get more clearcoat off.
Another great video Bri with lots of information I really look forward to watching you . Dave (uk)

Great Video. Thanks. I'm currently offering a one step until I upgrade my polisher. I have a Porter Cable 7424xp.

Awesome video very informative, thank you for taking the time and putting this together it is very much appreciated!

Excellent video. I had no idea that AIOs had more cut than a polish then wax! Have/can you do a review of the Meguiars Mirror Bright Polishing Wax?
Great video!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Absolutely!
Thanks Brian. Which of those polishes do you prefer for enhancing?
Could you do a video on the best enhance polishes?
Thanks

Great video
Great as always
Thank you Tom🙂
HELP PLEASE
So I recently switched from my rotary DeWalt to rupes 15 inch with 6 " pad
Dual polisher
Watched bunch of videos and techniques
Using blue and yellow rupes pad and blue compound and yellow polished.
Took time with one panel .
Washed , claybar , sanded gently with 3000
Did step one and two , slow motion , overlap the whole 9 yards
And it looked absolutely stunning .....BUT
3 days later I saw it on the sun and 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Scratches ( spider ) everywhere, color next to the door I didn't do was too dull as if I am looking through the fog ....
Thanks Brian
Anytime!!
Solid info, Solid video!
CAPTJ696 Thanks!👍🏻👍🏻
Great help here for us that are new to detailing.Question, in the angle-wax redemption close to sonax perfect finish?
Another helpful video! Wise words indeed!
Thanks again!🙂
Another great video Brian
🙂👍
So you recommend you do paint enhancement after one step if you’re a beginner?
Brian, would you suggest a beginner do paint enhancement with a small rotary polisher, say a Shinemaster 550? Thank you for the fantastic content. 👍
How long does a 1 step correction last?
And how many corrections can you do before you run out of clear coat?
Found you video very helpful - I am new to this world. Pls explain what needs to happen BEFORE I enhance. Do I decontaminate first ( use something like Purple Power Boat and Marine)? Do I clay? Do I remove iron? Do I need to use something like GYEON Quartz Q2M Prep?
You wash the car thoroughly, then clay bar.then you polish. After you polish a section, buff off the excess with a plush microfiber towel and wipe down with whatever decon spray you want
How about using some ANGEL WAX PERFECT POLISH, Brian? I really like it. Jp in SD.
Great video as usual.
Thank you Pete!
Informative as always. Would you recommend using meguiars ultimate compound for enhancements/ one step?
You can definitely be successful using that.
You didn't use Gros fast correction cream why
Would Rupes Yellow foam + Sonax Perfect Finish be a combo for enhancement?
Awesome!!!! Thank you for the video. Knowledge. Troof!
Happy if it helped a bit.
Nice video mate
Great content Brian. I have a 2018 Escalade and Raptor that in my opinion need light correction on the hood and roof. Is Sonax Perfect Finish something I should use?
The Wall that would work perfectly. Eve Angelwax Perfect Polish👍🏻👍🏻
Brian using a rotary polisher, should I use it for paint enhancement or one step correction??? Looking to buy a rotary polisher.......
Great Vid bro.I was wondering if you could test a product from 3d called 3d one. Thanks
Just ordered it... on the list.
what's your speed setting using the 10FX DA polisher during paint enhancement
very detail and thank you!
btw, what do you think about using LC force pad with AIO on a daily driver? is it too much? or better with white polishing pad?
Best to test a small area. If the white pad works...go with it. You can always jump up if more aggression is needed.
Wait a second here, I heard if you use circular motions the clear coat can melt or catch on fire?
Another outstanding educational video! How much time do you allocate for the typical one step?
metrowash I rarely get to work on one without interruptions ...but can get 3 done in a days time.
2:30 great advice
Good video. it is a bit different than other detailers from the speed you use in you pattern, are you not afraid of the heat the pad makes when moving so slow?
Not at all...I am very picky when it comes to pad choice. I never run the section I am working on heat up.
m. 105was the first compound
Brian, great video as usual......what it the recommended speed of the DA with there AIOs?
Mid speed to maybe speed setting 4
Thanks!
When mastered...it can do it all. A DA is needed to finish very soft clear.
Thank you Brian. I appreciate the quick reply. Love your videos and really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and all the time it takes to do so.
What do you use for protection that you mentioned?
