      Get one put a 212cc predator motor on it with a torque unit and a performance muffler and before putting the motor on drain the oil take the back cover off gently and remove the Governor from the motor and put it all back together once you have it done make sure you put oil back in it lol add a torque unit and a performance muffler and youll love it mine tops out at 60 mph

      Thanks man! My brother should have a 224 build video out by Friday. He just did a high compression piston, heavier valve springs, ARC connecting rod etc. and the motor sounds pretty gnarly now! I did like the power curve of the 224, definitely felt like a lot of torque and fun to ride but the Ghost seems to have a bit of magic 😁

    I'm still running a stage one on my 196. I have the old grey with red fender BT200X. Got it on sale at Wally World a few years ago for $479. I'm a little more gentle with mine. I'm not playing with much of a budget though. I do plan on getting the Ghost 212 for mine and maybe Torque convertor with the Juggernaut driver. I'll definitely look at that carb and intake setup. You got a little screamer.

    • @OlympicOverland
      @OlympicOverland  2 роки тому +3

      I liked that stock 196 and having a lighting coil was nice too. I might put a new crank in the old engine and revive it at some point for another project. If you do put a VM22 carb on your bike watch the crappy intake gaskets that the Chinese VM’s come with, they pretty much melt when they get fuel on them and cause an air leak that will drive you crazy! A little bit of gasket sealer will help. I have the Tillotson version of that carb too that I will be putting on soon and testing so should have that in the next mini bike engine build. Cheers!

    I just bought a B200 from Tractor Supply. Drove straight to Harbor Freight and bought the Ghost. I haven’t even started the stock motor yet. Probably won’t. I want to keep the lights so I will add the lighting coil and flywheel, bigger carb and exhaust. Not looking for max performance, just more power and torture and fun. Oh yes, a Juggernaut drive pulley. Learned a lot from your video - many thanks. It looks great parked next to my HD Road Glide. 😊

    I run a mild built 224. 6270 ARC rod, 570 CH flat-top piston, 252 Rattlesnake cam, Mild ported stock head with Champion rockers, .036" head gasket (9.7:1 CR), Bored and rejetted stock carb, and a PVL flywheel timed to 32 BTDC. Bike is a Coleman 200U with 9/60 gearing. The stock TAV has a yellow spring in the driven, tightest hole. Strong trail rider that can get to more than 50 on pavement. The bike rips at 5500 RPM and under.

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 2 роки тому +1

      @@OlympicOverland Yes. I think gearing is important. Engine power is just the icing on the cake. The mentioned bike wouldn't work that well with stock gearing. Under full throttle I can get to 4500+ RPM before the belt shifts. With stock gearing the belt shift would interrupt the power at a much lower RPM. You guys are very aggressive riders and can use an 8K RPM engine and a Juggernaut. I don't need all that.
      I should mention my second Coleman 200. That has a 2009 Harbor Freight 196 Greyhound with a CL1 original cam and Champion rockers. Has plenty of power with the TAV and gearing.
      Also. Other than the 16mm PTO the Hisun 196 is a very good quality clone engine. I should have built it instead of the Greyhound.

I agree about the little 196 Hisun, it was a fun motor and ran really well. I will probably put another crank in it and do a mild build for another frame at some point. 👍

      Thanks for watching! Trailmaster’s are great bikes, that slightly longer wheel base and rear suspension definitely makes a difference when the speeds increase. I bet you will get a lot of riding out of that stock motor before it dies, most of these GX clones are built pretty well and seem to last. The Ghost 212, Max Performance 224 or Ducar 212 are all really good replacement options when you do decide to swap it out. Thanks for the comment, it’s cool to hear what other bike setup’s people are running. Cheers! 👍

      @@Canadian_Craftsman I had an old 7/8” to 1-1/8” pro taper mount adapter and the bars laying around in my parts bin so that is what I used. My brother found a cheaper adapter on Amazon that worked worked fine too. It’s been awhile but I think I drilled the holes a bit deeper and re tapped them so they had some extra thread just to be a bit sturdier but you may not have to do that. The mount kits typically come with a couple of different hardware lengths so you may need to cut the bolts down a little. It’s nice having wider bars because of the leverage but I did cut about 1” off of the width on each side. Mine are the “Woods High Bend” but I would check out some other bends to see what feels best to you. Pro Taper also makes a higher set of bars for CRF/XR 50’s that have a crossbar. They look a bit more like a BMX bar but you can just bolt them on without using the adapter because they are still a 7/8” bar. Cheers man! 👌

      Welcome to the channel! The stock Hisun 196 on my BT200X had the smaller 5/8” shaft so I wasn’t able to use the original clutch on my Ghost 212 because the Predator motor and most others brands have the larger 3/4” shaft. I ordered a cheap clutch on Amazon but have an upgraded clutch that I will be installing soon and will include in the next mini bike video. Centrifugal clutches work great for what we are doing but torque converters (TAV) are a nice option as well but can limit higher rpm’s unless you swap out the driver unit for something like the Juggernaut. Hi Josh, I did use the Coleman jackshaft but the crankshaft diameter on the Ghost is larger than the original Hisun 196 so I installed a new clutch. The headlight is just a cheap Hella 500 that I had laying around and it is pretty easy to adapt to the Coleman bracket. The gas tank works good but I will probably do an aluminum tank that mounts under the top tube or seat area at some point. I will post a link to the tank that I have on the bike in the video, it will require a mounting plate to fit the Ghost. I made the plate in the video pretty quickly out of aluminum using a cardboard template. I think there are probably some better options out there now but it has worked pretty good. I hate myself. I have no will power.
    I have the Coleman BT200x-OR just like yours. But I constantly struggle with what I want to do with it. Because of that, I bought BOTH the Ghost 212 and the 224 Max Performance. The Ghost I want to turn in to a straight chain hi revving street engine for either the BT200X or a Mega-Moto 212 Frame....and the 224 Performance I want to put on/keep on the BT200X and make it a trail riding dirt bike with a torque converter and 60 tooth rear sprocket.
    But I'm so easy to sway and after watching so many videos of other people's builds and all the different things you've all done......I fear I'll be deadlocked and never do anything to it and just keep the Hysun 196 with basic mods.

      The 224 built with your intended mods will become the ultimate wheelie machine / hill climber & who wouldn’t want that?
      Conclusion: Yes!
      Option 2.
      The Ghost 212 unlocked to its full potential with high compression, grenade free flywheel, direct drive and race fuel could be your ticket to a mini bike land speed record at Bonneville, just like Rollie Free would have done (if he had a mini bike).
      Conclusion: Also YES!
      Hisun 196, just because it was a surprisingly fun engine that had good character, was fun to mod and (other than the leaking fuel tank cap) was a totally likable well made motor!
      Conclusion: Yes again! (maybe not if your 5/8 crankshaft already broke off) 😂
      More mini bikes, more motors, more fun! 👌

    I have a stock BT200X that I have only riden a hand full of times, mostly on the road I live on. Other than a slow top speed of about 23 mph the only other complaint would be the steering angle of the forks. Seems to be a little quick or twitchy, more than I like. Have you noticed this on your BT200X's, if so, did you do anything about it?

    • @OlympicOverland
      @OlympicOverland  2 роки тому +4

      I have never noticed the steering feeling very twitchy on mine or any of the other ones (we have 4). I did find a loose stem bolt on my girlfriend’s mini bike that was never tightened from the store that were we bought it so maybe check that. Most of the bikes had the bars pushed really far forward and bringing them back a bit makes them feel better plus the stock bars are really narrow so going with a wider handle bar will definitely make it feel more stable. Hope that helps, cheers!

      Hi! We are using ProTaper bars on the mini’s, just some extra bits from our moto parts bin. I don’t remember what bend my brother has but mine are the Woods High bend. I cut about 1” off of each side and the width is pretty good. They are a 1 1/8” bar so you will need the ProTaper 7/8” - 1 1/8” adapter but those give a bit of rise and that helps. ProTaper sells a 7/8” bar for the CRF50 that fits without an adapter and is a bit taller as well. The dual headlight on Mikes bike is a pair of cheap round LED’s from Amazon and he welded up that aluminum hanger with a cage so all custom. If you don’t have a TIG setup for aluminum you could make a similar cage with some mild steel tubing, it’s easy to bend with a torch and welds nice on a simple flux welder. 👍

      Hi Brian, the jackshaft plate sits really close on most Predator and clone motors. It’s usually one of the yellow plugs or sometimes the air routing shroud that hits. I have just bent or cut the air shrouds or on my Ghost I just rotated the plug slightly and it fit. You may have to use washers to shim the cover over slightly if the other two solutions don’t work. Update.... I decided to go with the Ghost on the BT200x like you did. So I came back to this video to see how you set yours up so I can try to get the same results. I noticed in your vid at the 4:51 Mark, that you had the cover off the side of the motor and there was a plastic cam in there. Yet other tear down vids on the Ghost show a steel cam. I haven't cracked my case open out of fear of what I'll find. You had a plastic cam?!?
    Also, "word on the street" is...the Ghost comes with a better than stock connecting rod but not as good as a billet unit. Do you know if that's true? And the springs....some people say they are 22lb out of the box but others say they are 33lb. Any ideas on that?
    I put on a billet flywheel, the 6619, from ARC, a VM22 Clone carb and replaced the 6000 rpm limited coil with a non-limited coil. Then a 30 series chinese made torque converter with a Juggernaut clutch. Where did you get your straight header with muffler? I've bought 2 so far and both of them hit the frame. They aren't long enough like the one on your bike. They don't come out far enough to get around the frame.
    And..I guess..lastly, How's the Ghost holding up after 7 months? How's the BT200x in general?

    • @OlympicOverland
      @OlympicOverland  Рік тому +2

      Hi! The Ghost has been holding up great & seemed to get even smoother after getting some hours on it. That shot of the side case opened up was on my old motor so it had the plastic cam gear, the Ghost is steel and a decent mild cam. I’m not sure of the valve spring weight but I think someone showed them starting to float around 7500 rpm but I can’t confirm that. I have stiffer springs to put in and will include that in a future video. I will try to leave a link for my exhaust, it’s U.S. made and has great welds (also clears the frame nicely). It is loud so I ordered a mini clamp on muffler. I will also try to include a link to the exhaust Stacy bought for her bike, it’s the crossover style but is a bit quieter. They both work great but the shorty header style on mine flows a bit better. I believe the number on the crank is different than the standard motors although it looks very similar. The Ghost is manufactured by Ducar and they have been making some sweet Kart racing motors so I’m sure it’s a decent crank, I bought an ARC to upgrade soon anyway because Chad at Chadz Mini Fab had a really good sale on them. Cheers! www.ebay.com/itm/274638755302?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=FltSvJpgRmy&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Tcq6iqqPSpi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY www.ebay.com/itm/274456313317?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=FltSvJpgRmy&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Tcq6iqqPSpi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

      You will need a new 3/4” clutch because the Predator motors have a larger crank shaft end than the stock Hisun motor. The Predators use larger hardware for the crankshaft end and jackshaft mounts as well. You can bypass the governor on that 196 Hisun, put a VM22 carb on it and put a free flowing exhaust on. They already have a thin head gasket so compression is as high as you can go without a changing the piston but those motors actually do pretty good with a few mods and most of the parts you buy for it are standard GX clone parts so they will fit on the Ghost 212 too when you decide to buy it. 👌

      Hi, you will need a larger crank bolt to hold your clutch (5/16”-24) & possibly different hardware to mount your TAV or original jackshaft plate depending on what motor you are replacing. Sometimes the side case plugs can get in the way (yellow on the Ghost) just turn it slightly or add spacers if it doesn’t fit. Sometimes you will have to bend or trim the cooling shroud but all of this is pretty easy. I would also recommend a decent chain, the stock one stretches pretty bad and the extra power from the motor upgrade will just make it stretch worse. 👍

    What kind of clutch chain set set are you running??
    My jack chain plate won’t fit with the new ghost on my bt200x Mods?

    • @OlympicOverland
      @OlympicOverland  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, I have the stock jackshaft setup still with a cheap Amazon clutch. The plate is really close so you have to either rotate one of the fill plugs slightly or use thin spacer’s to get a bit of clearance. You could also sand one of the plugs down slightly but I was able to get it to fit by just rotating the plug that was hitting slightly.

      Thanks man ! Appreciate you guys , building a orange bt200x with a ghost and trying to figure out if I should straight chain it or use a torque converter with a juggernaut 🤷‍♂️
      Then I ran into clearance issues..

      @OlympicOverland  2 роки тому +1

      @@nooktwoii4705 your BT200x is going to rip! The torque converter’s are nice but so far the chain has been working and I like the freewheel coasting on deceleration with the standard centrifugal clutch but the overdrive and variable ratio of the TAV is handy. On my Ghost the lower yellow plug was causing my clearance issues so take a look at that and shim or twist it slightly. You could probably sand the plug down a bit as well. 👌

    Good afternoon. I will be glad if you help me. I really want a bt200x mini bike, but there are none in my region. I'm ready to do it myself. tell me please, do you have a drawing of the frame, AutoCAD?

    • @OlympicOverland
      @OlympicOverland  Рік тому

      Hello! Unfortunately I don’t have a CAD drawing of the BT200X frame. I think you should be able to get pretty close by scaling everything to match the wheel size or 196cc motor that is the same as any of the 6hp engines. A tubing bender would be helpful to get a nice corner radius. I’ve seen some really cool plans for older mini bikes online too, people we’re building some awesome designs in the 1960’s and 70’s. Cheers man and good luck! 👍

      Thanks for the answer! In extreme cases, you can bend the frame yourself, according to the available pictures from the Internet. Good luck and a peaceful sky over your head! 🤝🏽
