whoever owns this car is an absolute legend by keeping this masterpiece in pristine condition
A car dealer owns it ?
A car museum owns it.
@@KardiFan2000 Did you watch the video ? Bond Group Massachusetts own it. They are a car dealer ! It’s for sale .
@@bobfranks6445 Oh shit...I assumed it was a car museum lol. Good looking out.
@@bobfranks6445 for how much the price range would be?
Timeless design. Love the proportions and the off-centre twice-pipes on the back
i dunno, all the chrome and round details make it look like its from 70s. The interior tho, its timeless indeed
@@VorteX-ox2fm it is from the 70s, E24 was launched in 1976.
yes, except for the bulky US bumpers that take the design rather out of proportion.
Can't understand the off centre pipes! Absolutely beautiful car though
The exhaust is the best part in my opinion.
The 1980's were kind of a golden age for German cars. Mercedes from this era were also great cars, and 80's 911's are some of the best ever.
Yeah a 1980s 560 SEL coupe is a stunner. Also, open and shut the doors on an 80s German car. They sound solid and heavy.
80s and 2010 plus minus 5 years and you basically have all the German legends
God those 80s beamers are something else, shame what their cars have devolved into aesthetically.
the m6 f1x look pretty damn good to wdym
I hardly give a shit about the aesthetics compared to what happened to steering feel and driver involvement with the modern cars
@@Christusolus you've got that right. Even the most non car enthusiasts out there openly admit to the timeless beauty of real bmws
@@papa_pt I feel like one doesn't even drive a modern car. You just occasionally assist the assisted steering & agree with the 20,000 pre programmed self braking bs....obviously exaggerating, but you know what I mean!
@@RothBeyondTheGrave for surely, and it makes young drivers overconfident and dangerous because they have absolutely no clue where the limit is. on the other hand my first trackday experience was in an AWD automatic car and it was insane fun, the car didn't just make it very easy to attack corners but the way some of these more sporty or agile ~2 ton modern cars catapult out of a corner is lovely, if I was born 20 years earlier there would have barely been a few cars able to deliver that experience.
Just so you understand, this is coming from someone who thinks the best way around a corner is sideways. I don't think I'll ever change my opinion on that, but the fact that you can fly around the track with very little effort now and the fact that speed has become very accessible can be admired.
Let's face it the only reason you guys are salty at all is because drivers cars are becoming less accessible. If there were no rich guys buying up every single car that offers a great chassis for rallying then we wouldn't have this conversation, we'd all have an E30 in the garage and there'd be no frustration.
This car is timeless, and the 6 cylinder sound is so iconic.
so can clearly hear a bit of McLaren F1 in there👌 (listen to F1 roadcar onboard video)
First I saw it said M6 and I was like “eh another M car” then I realized it said 1987 and I was like WOOOOAH I GOTTA WATCH. Thank you ted.
Sometimes a car is just too good for you to drive!
Surprised you don’t own this!
Never! Then what would be the point of the car
This is rare but real. :)
Why old cars are so much better than new cars???!?!?
Hand built, built with the driver in mind. Now they’re built by spread sheet experts and sold for groundbreaking profits.
They now build cars for the masses, and make more money off of service costs, so they purposefully build them to break often. Their quality control and practices have gone downhill.
European version had 286 hp and looked better without big US bumpers. Cool car :)
The bristles around the parking brake handle... Man what a throwback
This is an absurdly beautiful car.
Every shift a tear ran down my cheek. Pure bliss.
wow, this takes me back to my high school days when i used to take my dad's 84 533i out for joy rides at night. There was something magical about the 80s bmw experience -- from the sounds of the door closing, the deepness of the black paint, to the starting rumble of the engine, to the the heaviness but extremely well synchronized and fluid movement of the clutch -- to the heft of the steering wheel, and so on and so on. felt like i was gliding at times. thanks for sharing this particular vid.
I own a 81' 633CSi and its in nowhere near as nice of a condition as this, I'm jealous lmao. Still its a beautiful car and it gets stares everywhere I go. I have a Ireland Engineering catback exhaust and a Magnaflow cat and the car sounds so smooth and crisp. Thanks for giving the shark the recognition it deserves Tedward, been waiting for a video like this!
Can't wait for the day when i buy myself one even if its the biggest piece of crap
Im seriously considering getting one
Just picked one up! I know this is old but does it have that ridiculous rasp at low rpm for you? Mine sounds ridiculous and I do not want it to be raspy like an e46 lmao
Such a great era for German cars. They have soul, they have a ton of torque from down low, and great driver/car connection. Is anything better than an inline 6 cylinder with a manual transmission? Love it.
As always, your comments about the feel and look of modern cars is on target. I have felt the same for a long time. I watched a preview of a new model, yesterday, and the main points of a very long video, were "moods" you could create in the dash lighting, and how the LED lighting on the exterior looked, and the massive (cheap looking) plastic grills at the nose and tail. 5 minutes into the video, I was done hearing about what entertains the brain of a 5yr old. But this is what people are now looking for.
As a music nerd, this is like listening to a 1st vinyl pressing of a classic jazz album like "Kind of Blue.." I can hear an MP3 of "Kind of Blue," but the old vinyl seems warmer and inviting with its imperfections. But "Kind of Blue" is the height of talent and sophistication.
Compared to a current car, this M6 is analog and you are experiencing it as intended. It is still a highpoint of engineering. A template that other cars strive to match. That is glorious.
Beautiful analogy, Kind of Blue is a work of art, just like this vintage M car
2nd best car ever made, first being the European specs, 286 HP (M635 csi).
Amen to this! The euro-spec M635CSi is an animal of its own breed.
Finally someone said it🙏
That engine IS EXOTIC THOUGH
I really want a 635, they look so nice.
My e39 528i is also extremely tight handling, and feels like new. Ive not driven any modern car that gives the same feel for the road and engagement
Everything about it screams the 80's. Beautiful machine 👌
One of my favorite all-time BMWs. Such an excellent example of one as well. Appreciate the review/drive.
That interior still looks timeless even now very well built car 😍
I love listening to you handling the gearbox. High clutch or not, you are one of the best rev matchers I've ever heard!
I use to have an 1988 M5...very similar.
Great to look from the outside, great to sit in. I love how analogue everything is with the manual gearbox, the knobs, the swithes.
One of my favourite videos pf yours by far! This is exactly what i love to see, a prime condition car from a time before i was born
Love it
The pedestrian was clearly not a car enthusiast.
This car is an absolute icon, its style, luxury, and performance still stand up today.
Such a cool 80's car again, with an amazing sounding engine. I 100% agree on what you said about the new BMW-s, they miss the "driver centered driving experience" of the older models. Great video.
Awesome machine, that in-line six sounds amazing and together with a manual gearbox makes it outstanding!
That's a freaking gem of a car. Classic BMW with that straight 6.
And I bet they'd love to create something similar with a modern flavor, people at BMW probably know what it used to be about, yet they constantly get restricted with safety and emissions regulations and whatnot. Moreover, most of us broke car enthusiats can't really afford new BMWs and manufacturers usually go with stuff that will actually sell at dealerships, so they would rather listen to what people's wallets tell them, which is totally understandable. We don't really have any say here, cause we're just fans and most likely not their target customer base. We can bitch all we want but it's the money that talks. And afaik, new M3s/M4s sell very well.
Had to come back to this one. Something about the scenery of a crisp fall day in New England. Just beautiful.
Hard to beat a two door coupe in the style department, it just shouts independence and personal happiness. No commitments, just a car for the driver.
Thanks for this wonderful video, I have a 1988 M6, had it since 1997. Still the best car to drive that I have ever owned.
Living many people's dreams. Keep up the great work!
I absolutly love the older beemers . So much heart and soul in the way they were bulid. Beautiful car.
The only BMW I’d rather own than an old M6 is an old M1. And “revving out” these cars is the perfect way to drive them, and it’s what they were made for.
E30 M3?
This is the M1 motor. 256 hp
You get to drive some of the most interesting cars of my childhood some cars that I’ve completely forgotten about the BMW M6 wow that really takes me back thanks for all the great content
I've got two E24s and wouldn't trade them for anything! '85 M635CSi Euro-Spec and '88 635CSi US-Spec
Must be nice to drive such a classic on those backroads, tight corners and endless curves. Love it!
I have a manual M2 Competition and you’re right. The car is so fast, you’re criminally speeding about 2 seconds after you get on it, no matter where you are. Cars are so fast today, you can’t really enjoy them like you used to. They’d have to raise speed limits
beautiful classic - cheers for exposure
a gem💎; thanks for uploading this report!
what a great vid bro the seats in that stunning bm still look like the ones i have in my 2007 bmw 520d msport and the sound of that gear box going into gears is just astoniton what a car fairplay to you bro for this stunning vid its timeless interia
Man! 7:19 - 7:43 is just absolute perfection sound-wise
My first car was an E24. Only had it for a year but man was it the coolest car I've ever driven.
Great review. BMWs in the 80s were just superb, with great styling and were truly drivers cars. I had several E30 325i models and just loved them. Another big plus in those days was the fantastic visibility due to the much greater glass area. The only downside was keeping those BBS wheels clean!
Man that thing is clean and beautiful!
Great video! I love 80s BMWs.
I love the smell of the interior of these cars. For some reason they smell different than anything else and it’s brilliant.
Awesome test and presentation, a beautiful German masterpiece. I would beg to differ on one point, you said its not an exotic engine... I think it definitely is a Paul Rosche masterpiece. Not many 3,5 six Cylinders could match it in 1987 leave alone v8s. God bless from South Africa 🙏
I was researching this model yesterday, its nice to see this video today.
I can feel the emotions just by looking at this video. Iconic lady!
Thank you dude! Like your drive
Nice video. What a nice sound 😍
Timeless beauty 😍
You nailed it with yoiur commentary! Spot on!
What a car! Just love it! Thanks for sharing!
very very nice, thank you for driving this :)
Yes yes yes what I expected and great memories of older BMWs👊🏻👏🏻
Great car and video review, Ted!!😁👍🔧🛠️
Classic steering wheel - interesting control panel in the left. This car is fantastic.
Good job, thanks for sharing it, greetings from Just Driving 4K!!
Awesome vid man! 🔥
Your videos so amazing, thanks!
If you wanna have style, performance and comfort, pick this one. :) Pure BMW when the world was all about "cars" and not "digital gadgets". :) Great video. You got my like.
That engine sound are awesome!
Your footage is so stable.
Great car.The sound from that shifter.....you hear how precise it it is.Bmw power😎💪.
What a fantastic car this M6 is and your video as well Ted! Im a BMW fanatic and been driving BMW's for 30 years, its sad that BMW has lost its true identity over the years. Yes I like the modern ones but its not the same..
Agreed the 80’s-90’s cars were special. They were the right size but still went like hell for the time. Now an M3 sorry M4 is 4,000 lbs and the size of the last gen M6 with the V10. They just seemed to have confused it somewhere, now what is the M2 is and really what the M3 should be.
You nailed it totally lost its identity which is a shame as it was a very particular way of engineering.
@@hpkntnw absolutely!
Agreed, it feels like every successive generation gets a little bit further away from the great tactile feeling machine that this car was.
World has changed to worst...
Always have loved the shark nose
I was afraid that I was the only one who likes the look of the US-spec bumpers - glad to hear there's at least one more.
My favorite BMW of all time...thanks for the video
The SHARK!!! Gotta love em! That interior is the bomb!
I love how these sound then they start up.
what a nice valley to drive through!
It's the nicest BMW design ever created. Built to last, built for comfort, built for cruising in style, even today.
I had a friend that had one. I used to love driving it.
I own the sister car of the E24, the E21. I’d say you did a good job articulating why I like driving it so much.
I have a manual 635csi, and I love the view of the road and the dash and hood slight curvature.
This is what I would have to say unequivacally, one of the most beautiful production cars ever made.
Probably my new favorite BMW!
love the cars from that era
What a beauty of a car, just breathtaking honestly.
Wow, that car is pristine. Love it.
I have an '88 with 72000 miles in it. I agree with everything you said, except by 1987 standards this engine was about as exotic as they got at the time. More importantly, the car was as good to drive as it is to look at.
I am blown away by that sound. Sounds similar to the old inline sixes, but...it's even better!
Absolutely beautiful!
Love it. After all these years it's amazing that big digital screen is perfect...oh wait.
This is my dream Car, just love everything about it. Great Video :)
I miss my E34 so much. Old BMWs are peak BMW
Just amazing, thank you
This Car, the Green Alpina 635 CSi , made an everlasting memory.
Just that Sharknose, and the inside dash towards the driver makes it Unique.
Epic design , and the one and only 6 Series !
The BMW 323i E21 was also a really nice7 fast Car !
When Cars were made to last, and Bumpers were useful.
I got two 1988 E34 M20 sedans, my dad has a 1990 M30 E32, BMW really knew what they were doing when they designed cars in the 70s and 80s. Solid no BS cars with great ride quality and road feeling.
What a sound!!! Terrific
The look...the sound. Wow!
Hello! :) thank you for this awesome video! ;) I really love this BMW. My favourite besides 635 CSi, E21, and the E30.
We had a 1986 BMW E30 325e with the ETA code engine (2.7 liters 6 cylinder made for the American market). That car was a masterpiece. We will never have such a lovely car ever. :(
I remember I was crying when we had to sell it. This video brought back my memories with our good old Bimmer :)
I love when I recognize where you drive in these videos. Mighty squirrel is a pretty good brewery
I6 is my favorite engine type, I've had the pleasure of owning two: a BMW 328i, and my current daily, a Volvo S90 (960). I just love the silky smooth power delivery and the sound is just intoxicating (my Volvo is slightly modded, so I can actually hear the I6 sing now lol).
This is a piece of art!
Great car, big 6. Reminds me of my old Cressida, especially the interior
omg, what a shape, that Jewel of an car, is in - incredible !!! thx for share man ☝🤘💘👍🤞🍀☮🏁💎
Nice video, was always a gorgeous car from day one. I grew up in the UK, a woman who lived near me drove a red alpina version of this 6 series.
