I think it will be an interesting experiment for you, although I've read your IG comment once saying that you're not a fan of those because the glue that most people use isn't strong enough so the glass could fall off... what about turning an iPhone X to 12 for example? There are a lot of conversion housings for a lot of different models (there was a Jet Black housing for the 6s but sadly it's discontinued)

About storage of batteries (li-ion and similar at least) - you want to have them charged around 50%. Not fully drained, not fully charged, somewhere in the middle. :)

You have to get a battery charger with an "Activate" button to activate the battery.
I have one of those but it's at my parents house, will have to get them to bring it to me next time they visit.
