He converted his garage to have a car wash inside. He washed it daily ( road salt ) after his shift. He also changed his oil once a week. Saw the pictures, that car was pristine. He does say good information, generally. But he at times makes mistakes.
      For example in this video, he makes a physical error at 1:45. Where he starts "The main reason". Yes, the BTU's in a given fill up in the morning won't change to the afternoon albeit it's expansion, but it does expand! So it follows that an afternoon fill up of 10 gallons has less BTU's then 10 gallons in the morning!
      (Even though when comparing that same 10 gallons in the afternoon with the little less volume the next morning, BTU's didn't change)
      So there he didn't know what he was talking about. I hope when he sees this he will make the correction.
      Regards,
      Peter.

      My '94 Crown Vic started shuddering/jolting at cruising speed one day. I had 59,871 miles on the car. I googled '60k miles on '94 crown vic trans issues' or something to that effect.. first article I clicked on said 'if you own a 93 or 94 Crown Vic, you will be changing out the torque converter at 60,000 miles'. I removed the TC. Cut it open, and saw lots of fin erosion and other metal debris hung up in the trans filter. Bought an HD torque converter from Torco Industries out of Cali for $119 and car now has 87k on it. Haven't had an issue since.

      Another reason to prefer manuals; I once bought a one-owner pickup...for $200. 310,000 miles and about a third of the paint on it when I got it, and 350,000 when the transmission died.
      Guy had kept good records of the maintenance in the manual, tune ups, oil changes, a long list of miscellaneous parts...and not one mention of ever changing the gear oil.
      I still felt like I got my $200 worth out of it.

    I've actually tested the AC thing. On a 2014 Ford Focus Ti 5 door, you get 1.5 MPG less with AC on and windows rolled up. If you roll the windows all the way down, it loses that minimal 1.5 mpg and can sometimes lose up to 3 to 4 mpg due to aerodynamic drag.
    Modern AC compressors are indeed more economical than windows rolled down.

      @christopherdimotsis1024 4 роки тому +1

      the main issue is the oil filter. in most cases if your gonna spend the time replacing the oil filter you might as well replace the oil. but its true deoending on driving conditions oil can last a long time but still some additives for resisting wear and detergents that keep contaminants suspended in the oil so that the filter can filter them out can also get affected, but the biggest thing is the oil filter while most modern oil filters are good, but they have a limit on how much they can trap and hold then when it gets too much and causes a blockage the filters are built with a bypass for when the inlet pressure is too great and thus your oil is no longer getting filtered. so you can essentially run extended oil drain intervals but replacing the filter and just topping off is a must if you do this. but i would say i would never go over 15-20k without changing my oil.

    • @andrewt9204
      @andrewt9204 4 роки тому +2

      @MegaStick93 until the friction modifiers wear out, or the TBN hits 0. Then the oil becomes acidic. Most full synthetic oil run out of base additives at ~10k miles. You can't use the same oil forever no matter how good the filter is.

Around town - forget it. Rolled down the windows. Later in the 90's in college, I had an 82 Accord. Turn on the A/C and horsepower would drop by half. I only used it going downhill to help slow down the car. No need to downshift, just turn on the A/C - save your brakes.

    Been watching your videos for about 2 or 3 years now, and I have learned a lot from them. I now work on all of my own stuff and have completely cut out dealerships and shops.
