Hi Siim, i might add that it's important to see the dose of the vitamin d studies that says that vitamin d has no effect to bone density. Because so many vitamin d studies uses extremely low dose and therefore is not a good study to determine the efficacy of the supplementation. Vitamin d is a volume game, if you have vit d of under 80ng/mL. I dont think it's optimal at all, and a supplementstioj of 1000-2000iu a day is not going to help anybody

Another suggestion: I'm a 72-year-old male with a Z-score of 3.8 and increasing. I've been obese but active most of my life, which probably contributed to the high Z-score. I'm normalizing my weight now and had wondered about keeping my bone density since, according to my DEXA scans, losing fat paralleled a loss of bone density, even with weight training. My solution was to take a kettlebell on my regular walks and hikes. Weighted carries are what humans are designed to do. It worked, and I again have an increasing Z-Score. Of course, I'm a study of one, so your results may vary. Supplementation doesn't matter much unless one is undernourished. I believe rhythmic mechanical stress is the missing key.

Question for Siim: I had been on a high protein muscle + bone building diet, weight training 2-3x week and was also supplementing with Calcium/D3/K2/Mag (no drugs) in order to reverse my OP. This seemed to be having some effect, but then I received a high CAC score (asymptomatic, great bloodwork, etc.). I backed off the high protein to reduce my consumption of saturated fat, but rapidly lost weight and muscle. There's so much conflicting research around diet, and what seems to be good for muscles and bones is not so good for CAD. Can you offer any guidance? I am 67 yo.

At 53, diet change alone will have dramatic impact on your health.
You've probably been depriving your body of much needed resources and are deficient and should be supplementing at therapeutic levels.

I develop osteoporosis in my 30s from years of undereating overdoing cardio , emotional stress trauma gut issues
I thought I was eating healthy but I was not eating enough protein not enough nutrition
After I got diagnosed 2 years ago with osteoporosis I completely changed my diet and my exercise I had my 2nd dexa scan a few months ago
So my doctor said I have a 13% increase and bone density but I lost 2% in my spine
I'm very disappointed with that 2% loss!! So I need to step up my game, this video was very helpful but I was hoping for more information on diet and nutrition, can you please make a video on specific best foods to eat for bone density?
I don't eat that much meat I only eat meat once in awhile but my staple animal foods and protein is mostly dairy foods I also eat fish and eggs but not every day , I'm mostly plant based but obviously not vegan, a list of specific Best bone healthy foods would be super helpful because nutrition is the area where I still struggle it's the most confusing not just for me but for a lot of other people that have osteoporosis that I talked to

Also if you have a diet that causes inflammation in your knees (like peanuts do for me) you won't be able to do the weight training. So it does matter what you're eating.
