The BEST Awning Upgrade for your Campervan with DIY LED Lights | Van Build

Hi! We’re Jesal and Sonia. We upgraded to a NEW & BETTER awning than before! Our last one broke during a storm in Texas, but this actually wasn’t the worst to happen, because it allowed us to find a much better awning with EASY set up for every day use. We added some LED light strips underneath the arms, and even though it had an adhesive, we reinforced the led strip with zip ties. We ended up in a light installation mood - so we finally finished installing our exterior lighting system all around the RV, which will help if we drive in the dark, and/or on treacherous roads. We also figured since we are in the middle of our road trip and still have in our possession our old broken awning that can no longer stand up on it’s own, we can use this as a cool movie screen! So we reinstalled it to the other side of the van. We are so excited for all these upgrades and how much easier it’ll make our lives on the road. Even though we struggled with how much time it took us to install we are SO GLAD we spent all the time we did so we can have a much easier time setting up our awning at every location we visit. Thank you, we think this is a fun upgrade that will be practical and also fun to have!
The heat made it tough but also motivated us to get the awning installed so it cools the van and gives us instant shade whenever we want! Kathy's awning cover upgrade will help us keep this awning safe and protected for many seasons hopefully!☀
It's also fun to have these time estimations, maybe our predictions will start getting better in the future 🤣
