It's filled with horror stories of shoppers who purchased dresses online only to find the gowns were nothing like the ones they saw on the site. Candace, a Bridal gown shopper thought she had found the perfect wedding gown, but it cost $4,000. "It was the budget of my entire wedding," she said. Then she found the same dress for just $300. When it came, she was shocked to see a cheap knockoff. #InsideEdition

I was about to post something similar. I can't imagine why anyone would think that that was going to be the real deal. That's 92.5% off retail. Come on! And then to get on the video complaining that the type of beading she was supposed to get vs the cheap sequins she got. Well, you paid $300 for a dress from China. Duh.

Why is that? Fabric is not that expensive and that $4000 is mostly labor and/or the brand you're paying for.

They were laughing at the DRESS, not HER, but it was still awkward. I also don't understand why the teacher told all the OTHER girls that she bought the dress for her, since she didn't buy one for anybody else.
If you watch the original video they did on knock off prom dresses you can see why they did that. It was because right after that, they gave the student a dress she deserved.

TheDodicat I've only made one online mistake and it was $5 not $300 and the biggest day of my life.
I have bought 3 ball gowns and like 4 evening dresses online for different fancy dress occasions and weddings. Wouldn't dream of getting one for my wedding online. But the ones I have all gotten, I have been very happy with all of them and they ranged in price from £19.99 to £60 and £110 for a custom sized "belle" gown from beauty and the beast - which was worth every penny! Sometimes they need a little dart taken in them as they might be too large, or the straps on one were too long and left it sitting too low, but a little thread soon sorted that! It is all about expectations - don't expect a designer wedding gown worth thousands for like 10% of the price, as many people have already pointed out. But the sewing and dealing in my dresses have all been beautiful - no crystals, etc, but still beautifully done by hand! :D

When I was shopping for wedding dresses I went to these really nice little stores and eventually fell in love with a gown that was $2500 which was over budget. So when we got home I went online amd searched for dresses like it. Found one that was almost completely identical for $500 from David's Bridal. Was so happy when I tried it on. Now I can't wait to wear it on the big day

cheap doesn't always mean bad quality, the lolita and cosplay stuff i've bought from milanoo.com was cheap for lolita or cosplay, but it was tailored and very well made, i keep going back to them because any of their clothing with the 'tailored' option is both well made and affordable

I bought a knock-off wedding gown from China. It was the wrong color (white instead of ivory) but it was perfect. Beautifully tailored and just so gorgeous. I actually wasn't expecting it to be so professionally done. I guess I got super lucky (although I had a back up dress just in case). HAHA
You don't get this sort of thing for a 'bargain' unless it is last season's style off a clearance rack or used. Everyone wants covered in rhinestones, embroidered amazingness but they don't want to pay. Save up or take the time to make it. It is a huge learning curve but is doable with practice. That is my plan for my dress, already have the pattern, now planning on what changes I want to make and what materials to use.
Same thing just happened to me! I bought a blouse from Amazon and it took forever to be delivered and when I got it it was no where close to what it looked like online so I tried to return it but they’re saying that I have to pay my own shipping fee and if I don’t then they’ll just refund me 10%. I argued and threatened to give them a bad review and now they’re offering 15%. I just wasted my money on something so crappy.

You get what you pay for...buuuut I also think you shouldn't be able to show a picture of something that is not your product.
What happened to going to a shop and getting your dress and having normal dress fittings? When I got married I went to a real bridal shop and looked at the dress. I found one online I wanted and specifically found thst dress by that designer at a shop. I had fittings over 5 months before my wedding to make adjustments and make sure it fit right. No way I would just order a random wedding dress online unless it was coming from the actual designers website. And no a dress doesn't have to cost thousands to be authentic and great. I bought a brand new Maggie Sottero dress from a bridal shop for $600. It looked damn near identical to that 4k dress.

The only time you buy your fancy dresses online is when you go to a store try on the dress and make sure the style and colors look good on you, if the fit isn’t right some stores will take measurements and give you their website and the dress information so you order the same dress just tailored correctly for you. But never buy them online without having tried it on in store from the same seller first or ordering from one of the very few places that if it doesn’t fit right or isn’t what you wanted you can send it back for free and get a full refund
where they able to get their money back? That happened to me back in 2008, and I got tired of sending emails to a company in China. They never replied after the dress was delivered smh
I got very lucky, I got my dream wedding dress online for $150 and when it came it was exactly what I wanted, I was hesitant at first because I saw this video way before I bought it but I’m so glad I did. I get married in August

I have found nice dresses at Marshall's, TJ Maxx or Ross if they wanted name brand and not expensive. Macy's also has sales all the time and you can order them online at there store and either have them bring it to your house or go there pick it up.
