Richter was a force of nature.
The Allegro Agitato Molto and especially Harmoniesdu Soir are very good; in the latter Richter really seems to believe in the music and is painting a real story. In the rest of the pieces Richter really plays between uninspired and over-the-top fast.
Absolutely superb Liszt-playing!
Beautiful playing, Wilde Jagd is my favorite of these. Can imagine why Camille St Saens said that the memory of Liszt's playing compensated him for growing old.
WOW!!
Could you elaborate.
Check out Kissin!!
He's here in 42y.o--"wild Lion King"
Absolutely amazing-the best Richter! No one can equal him!
It's only your opinion. No everyone think so.
@@sergheidanilov9061 You don't for sure!🥴
Richter and Cziffra in the 50s and 60s in their utmost concentration were unsurpassed.

Why need compare very diffrent People?! Richter was not only Virtuosity but universal like Personality ! Olympic mankind!
What a Splendid rendition! a true genius..
All this etudes are amazing!
Ну, слов нет!Только слезы.
❤
Extraordinary just extraordinary
He has no peer. A giant of the keyboard .
Joder................. Vaya bestia por Dios..............
I enjoy his raspiness at times, in my opinion they're not wrong notes, pianists can be raspy too, not just popular vocalists..
I guess Slava needed to catch the last train to Vladivostok ?
No, he just wanted to pee - and he did, on Liszt.
Unfortunately yes. Richter was a stupendous pianist, but this is not all that good. "All get on the Molto Vivace Express!!!"
Genius
How does he the the tenth so fast!?!?!
Fast and too much false notes...
@@sergheidanilov9061 That is a lIVE recital and Richter can play wrong notes(not false)
Richter was aknowledged for his high quality playing in live recitals everywhere in the world, and at his superb playing on ipmerfect pianos, albeit a lot of people criticise him for small "flaws". He had a different approach to the etudes colse to Cziffra's and that's why they stand out. No comparison with today's "pop" pianists.
The Wilde Yagd seems to be the main point of discussion surrounding this recording! I personally love it, no-one else carries more frenzy and adrenaline (consider the title of the piece!) than Richter. Even if not entirely spotless, there's a brutality and torrentiality which I'm unable to find elsewhere, and I find myself continuously inspired by his breakneck, manic pace through the second theme in my own interpretation.
От Охоты чуть с ума не сошёл!Темп убил! Но, понял, что он, Рихтер, хотел!
Пианист Века!
His List--big Teather!!
Posseduto dal demonio 😮😮😮
Why is there no Mazeppa😥😥
Mazeppa was not in Richter’s repertoire. Check out Lazar Berman’s recording of the full set.
@@ClassicalPianoRarities Ohh😥
Turbulosos audience
While I marvel at the recklessly fast tempo of #8, I think it lacks variety and inflection.
Ok rocket scientist
Ο ποιητης ριχτερ διαβαζει πισω απ τις νοτες διαβαζει την κινηση και την ανασα ,ειτε παιζει Μότσαρτ η Λιστ η Μπετόβεν κλπ.
Maybe lizst may say to richter
Maybe he can play better then me
Way too fast for me. These are beautiful lyrical pieces which is lost at this tempo. Listen to Jorge Bolet and you'll see the huge difference.
Maniacal, in the best way possible
Il più grande pianista dopo Listz e Busoni
Michelangeli????
Kissin once said Richter in his utmost concentration is unsurpassed.
Unübertroffene Virtuosität - bis heute. Im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes: transzendental.
I suggest to all the american classic maniac to listen well to these recordings before wandering to other new interpretations..... (I refer to recent competition etc...)
This is the comparatively young swashbuckling Richter. I have to say in his early career before he triumphed in the West some of his tempi were pretty wild. While there are of course some pianistic marvels (Feux Follets) there are also some splashes, aggressive hitting and rushed phrasing, ie Wilde Jagd.
Rubbish it's perfect
@@ciararespect4296 I agree, everyone else’s tempo is wrong. This is the only Wilde Jagd I listen to.
That and Ovchinnikov
Check his interpretation on wilde jagd of 1978.
@@ClassicalPianoRaritiesyou have great taste! Try Kholodenko if you haven’t already
Eh, siamo alle solite... suona richter e pare che gli altri scompaiano...
Excellent, equal as Pogorelich.
Rither molto meglio
Let's be honest with ourselves, that Wilde Jagd was revolting.
To be honest, at least 6/8 are.
I'm going to be judgmental about No. 8. he totally rushed through it. It's like he was trying to keep perfect tempo for a piece that absolutely needs good interpretation to really produce what I think Liszt wanted.
Seriously it's like he's playing to a metronome that's set to a tempo way too high. He murders the sweet middle passage that has so much emotion. That might be my favorite small piece of piano in my life and somehow I can't recognize it.
There is a great Ovchinnikov recording of it: ua-cam.com/video/U0VSKRdtHI8/v-deo.html
@@ClassicalPianoRarities Oh yes, definitely my favorite rendition. It's what made me fall in love with this piece. I can play some of the middle section, and when I do I always try to emulate Ovchinnikov's performance.
He does tend to playing everything extremely fast, it’s his style,
But I get what you mean, it doesn’t work for wild jagd if anything it takes away from it
What a horrible sound.
????
Live in 1957, okay?
You mean the horrible sound you make when you touch a piano?
Simply dreadful. Never mind the wrong notes. The rushing kills the music. Nos. 2 and 8 are the worst on record. By far. Nos 3 and 7 are the only listenable ones, and even they are rushed and bland. I know I'm supposed to praise to the skies the "Great Richter". Sorry, can't oblige. I care too much for Liszt. And this is certainly not Liszt. This is travesty. But let us be grateful for small mercies - four etudes were spared.
Worst one record according to Alex Assov 😂
