  • It's been about a year since I bought a backpack blower for my yard! I opted for the less expensive blower in the Echo line-up and went with the model PB-580T.
    I love this blower and it has made our lawn clean-up around the yard so much easier!

    I got tired of replacing corded blowers every 2-3 years. I bought this gas backpack blower four years ago and no regrets. Replaced the air filter, fule filter and spark plug, AND started using mud-grade gasoline/2 Stoke mix. It RUNS better than new. Highly recommend getting one. You will save time and lot of money in the long run.

      I've been using my corded blower for over 15 years, and it still works very well.
      Still...I'm in the same situation as this guy, and it takes me over a day to get up all of my leaves. I inherited this very same blower, and I must say that it will be hard to go back (except for light use right around the garage.

    You can tell when someone has used a backpack blower other than twice a year at their own house. You gotta get the nose close to the ground and wave it back and forth. I hate when there's videos of guys with the nozzle 2 ft off the ground 😂😂😂 . I landscaped for 15 years, it's painful watching sometimes. Good review 👏🏻

    7 seasons of intense use with mine. Around 6-7 hours in really heavy leaves and pine straw every couple weeks throughout fall, winter and into mid spring on over an acre. Definitely got my money worth out of it but I started having carburetor issues where it didn't want to run very well unless it was under half choke all the time. Great machine but I ended up selling it so I made some back off of it but I'm fixing to get a new one as I haven't touched my yard yet this year.

    I have Pb 580t backpack blower it runs great i had for almost years. I moved to up grade Echo Pb 8010t in the fall of 2020 it have tons of power it’s very powerful I use it for massive fall clean up I love the pb 8010 this is the largest backpack blower I’ve ever own you probably will like it. It moves the leaves 1,071 cubic feet per minute at 211 miles per hour of air it blows very far and fast

    ISSUE: The 1 issue I have is its ability to move a "leaf pile". If you have a enough leave on your lot to create a large pile this blower is not strong enough to move the pile. You will have to blow portions of the pile 6 or so feet at a time. My neighbor saw me working my pile towards the curb. I have a good 30_40 minutes to go but he came in with his blower and within 5 minutes the leaves were on the curb. Huge time saver. He does landscaping and has a more powerful blower. Definitely going to upgrade. The yard in this video I would absolutely upgrade to something more powerful, commercial grade. PS by "leaf pile" I am referring to a pile 6x12 and roughly 4 ft high.

    You ain't whistling Dixie. I have got a serious amount of leaves. I have had the same blower for years now and the one drawback is it can't push all the leaves across the lawn so I still break out the landscape tarp to lessen the load on the blower. All in all this is one engine that never gives me any trouble at start time. It always fires up and it always runs fine well until day anyway. Right now I'm trying to figure out why I can be buzzing along and the unit seems to be running fine and then it just dies out and won't restart. I changed the plug because it was the easiest thing to do but now it appears I may have to access the spark arrestor. That may well mean a trip to the fix it shop. Geez after a good 5 years probably this is the first trouble I've had and I would buy a new echo tomorrow. Probably one with a lot more b&+$s.

      It could be a bad ignition coil. I blew mine and it had to replace it. You'll tug at that thing till the cows come home and it won't start; check to see if the coil is good with a spark tester. If the coil is good, it's likely a fuel problem

    • @charlesstevenson5141
      @charlesstevenson5141 6 місяців тому

      Try making sure the carb is clean including the bowl. Clean/replace filter as necessary. Could possibly be old gas gummed up in the carburetor or trash blocking one of the fuel lines. If you're not experienced with this type of work, I would recommend taking it to a shop and letting them fix it.

  • @cwrowe

    When you store them does the cold winter hurt them? If you take all the fuel out of it I heard that helps

    • @charlesstevenson5141
      @charlesstevenson5141 6 місяців тому

      No, cold weather doesn't bother them. 7 years out of my old one and it was kept in a metal shed. Definitely empty the gas and run it dry before storing for an extended period of time or the gas will gum up in the carburetor as it will any other yard tool.

    Would this be overkill for lawn care? I am looking at getting a blower, but am torn on whether to go with a handheld, backpack, handheld battery powered like dewalt. I trim and edge and mow so a blower is needed. Any advice y'all?

    • @haywardhummus8777
      @haywardhummus8777 Рік тому

      Depends on the size of your yard and what model you get. A Dewalt battery power hand held dies pretty quick and it’s not as powerful. Good to have around the house but I think this pays for itself if you find yourself needing that extra power and you’re planning on using it for a few hours at a time

      I have this exact blower and a 3/4 acre property here in PA with a few tall trees and it is perfect for me and my usage. Beware though of the stock non adjustable Walbro carb. It will be fine for a few years 2 max...the go bad.

    • @charlesstevenson5141
      @charlesstevenson5141 6 місяців тому

      Stay away from the battery powered stuff. They absolutely suck. If you have a yard big enough to warrant such, I would go with a backpack blower. Especially if you work leaves several times a year. Handhelds don't have the same amount of power and they are hard on the wrist and fingers after a while because of the weight and motion. With a backpack like this one, it doesn't require much effort to just move the tube around.

      @@RG-pz4jx Not entirely true. I have Echo handheld blower and string trimmer that I have had for YEARS, and have had to do nothing but routine maintenance (The primer bulb on the blower now has dried out and cracked a bit, and needs to be replaced. That's the biggest issue I've ever had). When I bought them I looked at tons of reviews, and paid attention to what lawn care companies that service yards in my neighborhood use. Actually talked to a bunch of them. You're right... about 75-80% of them use Stihl, but several use Echo and told me they have performed as good or better than the Stihl products they had used commercially. And you're also right.... Echo is more budget-friendly. I'm in a position where I can afford either, but I'm going with Echo because of my great experience with the brand. It's just an added bonus that it costs less.

I have 0 problem starting the edger and the trimmer. However the backpack blower is PB-580T is a piece of crap. I only use pre-mixed 50:1 ratio Tru-Fuel on all my other Echos no problem same on the blower. I bought this crap on ly a year ago and I was only to be able to get it started twice.
