  • Today we're going to be sharing with you guys the selection of leaf blowers that I personally believe are the best options out there when it comes to the best backpack leaf blower. I get asked a ton of questions about which leaf blower we use and which one is best and why, and in today's video I hope to answer all of those questions!
Most of you guys are familiar with the big three names for handheld power equipment, namely STIHL, RedMax and ECHO. We've used all 3 brands over the last decade and they're all churning out really solid equipment in 2021. Which one holds out as the best backpack leaf blower on the market? I'll let you decide!
Thanks again to Alex from Weingartz Farmington for opening up and staying after hours to allow us to film this video. If you guys need anything outdoor power equipment related from lawn to snow and you live in Michigan, they have you covered!

I don't know of any homeowner that has a Backpack Blower,... the phrase residential Backpack leaf blower, is comical to me. All the homeowners I know just have a handheld leaf blowers, mostly gas, some electric powered.
The only people I've seen with a backpack blowers are Lawn Care Landscaping professionals.
Is this common place in other parts of the country for the average homeowner to own a backpack leaf blower? If so news to me.

I bought the echo pb770t last year and I absolutely love it, it's easy to start, it's got plenty of power for my fall cleanup needs and I love the back pad blows air when it's running on my back it's definitely great in the summer months, true value near me had a discount sale for all the echo and sthl equipment, I saved a hundred bucks on a brand new blower from msrp 👌 I also got an 16 year old echo weed eater that still runs like a champ.

Just picked up the Stihl 800 C this year. Absolutely love it. KM 131 r with several attachments and a FS 56 with the BG 86 for back ups. Needless to say I'm a Stihl guy. Final step is going commercial on my mower. Using the JD Z355R currently but eventually will go with a 52in commercial. Living the videos Brian. Even have my fiancee and kids watching with me now lol! Congrats on the house and may you have continued success in business bub!

I just bought a new pb 580t earlier this year. (One hell of a jump from my crappy old poulan pro) and it does great for the normal spring/summer maintenance grass blowing we do. Once fall hits we will be using both blowers in tamdem. Love my echo trimmers and blower.

We’ve been running the top dog shindaiwa blowers for two decades. Eb630s to start, then eb8510 when came out back in 2006, which were replaced with 8520s and those with 854s. The 8510/20/854 are all the same basic 79.7cc blower with just improvements (namely ergonomics) for those unfamiliar and the 854s are still available (limited) today. A real testament to their reliability and performance of their design and that it was still competitive for so long. Not one of these units blew up despite year long use with countless steady hours of huge leaf cleanups. Minimal repairs other than the obvious straps and swivels. In fact I still use one of our original now 14 year old 8010s at my house. When these came out in ‘06 it was incredible - spawning the block across pavement “test”
Our 854s are wayyyy past when I would have liked to replace, and now that it is clear there will be no *real* new flagship shindaiwa blower to come following the echo buyout I am finally taking the plunge and getting a batch of pb8010s this week (I was hoping to get the identical Shindy branded 810 just to keep that nice red color but availability is non existent around here) I hope Echo picked up some of Shindaiwa’s magic after buying them up and that i won’t regret my first round of echo blowers since the early 2000s.

LIVEWIRE that's good but of the 50 plus sthil products in the past 20 years the last 20 I've purchased there has definitely been a change in the quality. Jonathan Doble :
I hope you will give me an intelligent reply back.
      Last year (September 2019),
      I purchased the echo 8010.
The metal on the tube tip was a bad idea!
The design of the switch is old, and an inconvenient!
The elbow angle hurts my elbow
(I feel that I should Not have to start taking medication) !
      Jonathan Doble :
REALLY, Why should I have to take pain medication ?
      My Husqvarna 580 , Redmax 8500, Stihl 600
does not caused me to have physical pain.
I put my Echo 8010 into storage last winter.
      This week,
I am planning to take it back to my Dealer
and let them work on the recalls the 8010 has generated.
I do not have a lemon unit.
It starts & works as it should.
      This is Design Flaws.
      Jonathan Doble :
I hope you will give me an intelligent reply back.

I’ve got the smaller but still powerful Stihl 460 C with electric start. Charges when you run it and will wind 3-4 times before it doesn’t start. I’m able to start it about 80% of the time but after you run it and turn it off. It’ll start 100% of the time (so far) minutes even 30 minutes later. Game changer when I have to turn it off when someone wants to talk to me while I run it. Upgraded from an old Husqavarna so awesome upgrade for me.

I had an Echo PB755ST that I bought online last year as a leftover, brand new in the box. (The 770 replaced that blower in Echo's lineup) Not too long after that I found a great deal online for a Stihl BR600, also brand new out of the box. My wife was the first to try out the Stihl and she loved it, never wanted to use the Echo again haha. The Echo was a good blower but the Stihl seemed to have noticeably better CFM and also better MPH but more importantly it was much quieter and more comfortable. I used them side by side in the fall and the difference was noticeable enough even though they were fairly close. I didn't need two blowers so I sold the Echo early this year. We love the BR600, it's perfect for our needs. Great with leaves and for cleaning up grass clippings after mowing.
I also love the sound of that 4 mix engine, it's so unique and I don't know why some people knock them. I have a 2008 Stihl 4 mix weed trimmer/hedge trimmer motor that's never given me any trouble and so far the blower has been great. My parents also have a BG86 handheld blower from around 2013 and that's been a great blower.

Husqvarna 580bts has the cfm that’s needed and the wide tube makes such a difference... makes all these other blowers seem like homeowner units. The volume of air it moves allows for getting leaves out of stone beds without throwing stone everywhere. Also has the hip throttle which is nice when you need that quick burst of air while waving the tube around with your other hand

I am a home owner who lives in a 5 acres woods. Leaves, more leaves and then some more. They fall at times like snow flakes. It takes me 2 hours plus, and 2 1/2 tanks of fuel to clear my place on leaves. I just blow them back into the woods. I bought the Stihl BR 600 when it was their biggest model. I blow a 700 foot driveway and it 25 foot lawn. Then around the house and a 1/2 acre back and side yard. The BR 600 is a beast. Wish we had a multi line dealer around here. S.W. I only buy Stihl equipment. Sure, parts are expensive and dealer exclusive and yes, they can be a little challenging to work on, but I like how Stihl encloses the engine, carburetor, fuel lines, cables, and spark plug in the plastic shroud. Gives it a cleaner look and doesnt get caught on anything. Plus, I have never had an issue with any of my equipment that was related to a defect. Stihl is the way to go.

    Buying guide for me
    1- go to dealer
    2- go to echo section

I was impressed at how the blower my landscapers had (Stihl BR 600) cleared the mess WAAAAYYY better than my Milwaukee M18 Fuel Blower.........no contest really. So that day I went to our local hardware store and bought the Stihl BR 800X Magnum. 912 CFMs! The landscape crew were here for 3 more days and I was able to help with debris clean up from the trees we were having removed............now I need to see what the most "bestest" string trimmer is in the Stihl line up.

I only do lawncare on the weekends in my neighborhood and I own the pb8010-T and that sucker is a monster and I love the power it has.
You may say that's too much blower for a weekend warriors like myself, but I think it's perfect and it works great with leaves when I need the power.

Sthil for me! Have a br600 magnum. Was the biggest at the time. Primary reason for getting it was for cleaning snow off cars at condos. Had close to 200 cars total to do

I have that exact lineup in the thumbnail and I'd agree with the good better best as far as moving material. The redmax 8550 is great for pushing volume of more dry leaves. The stihl 800 does a great job of gettin up wet matted leaves. I just picked up the shindaiwa version of the 8010 and it is a monster. For reliability I like the redmax over the stihl. The stihl can be finicky. I've only just gotten the 8010 and again really like it.

I mix it up... echo pb-580T backpack, Husq 125B hand held blower, Stihl fs45 trimmer and just last month, a Stihl Kombi 91R with string trimmer, edger, and hedge trimmer attachments... All for my .45 acre property with 2 trees but lot's of fence line and mulch beds and shrubs... lot's of neighbors leaves in the fall... happy with all of my equipment.. BTW... they've gone up in price.. I paid $275 for my 580T a couple years ago... They now cost $429...

Bought an Echo 770 today. Used an Echo 580 before and loved it. The 770 is the happy medium between the 580 and the 8010, which is perfect for me. It sure is thirsty though!!

I’ve run Stihl all my life and I’m a huge fan of them. My first purchase was a BR 350 and I had no complaints with that blower! Ran it for four years. I also used the Caleb Auman method when It then got to the point I needed something with more power for spring and fall. Picked up the BR 800 X and it did not disappoint! Very happy with the Stihl line!

As a homeowner I’ve always found it easier to just mow with the bagger. Chops them up and makes it easy to dump into the brown bags. I can’t just take to curb in my town. Have to be brown bags.

I love my Stihl , had a be 400 for at least fifteen years. Keeps running well I use a 40to 1 mix because the ethanol they put in our gas. I am thinking of getting more power especially can blow light snow. I am thinking Red Max because of what you think of them. Great video thanks Brian!!

I’ve been in business for 14 years and have only had 2 Stihl blowers. (550, and 600) they work every time first pull. What’s crazy is I don’t even do maintenance on them. They make their money every job I do. True story!
